Alright y'all, uploading this reaction was an absolute mess! It took at least a dozen attempts to get this posted without copyright issues, and even then, I only somewhat succeeded. Most importantly, you guys will at least be able to see it! I apologize in advance for the choppy nature of the video, but it was either that or nothing. Here’s hoping I don’t run into this when I get going on Jason Bourne!
It’s possible the copyright issues are why many TH-camrs haven’t reviewed this movie. Nonetheless, you did an outstanding job. It’s one of my favorite movies. :)
Terribly underrated. I like the Bourne films (the actual legacy films), but this is the most rewatchable of the series. Cross is good fun, I like Shearing, the plot is enthralling, the action scenes are classic Bourne, and Ed Norton is one of my favorite villains.
I love this movie, even more than some of the other Bourne films. Ironically, my favorite scene is Renner’s character Aaron realizing Dr. Shearing has no idea who he is - just Lab Rat 5 in her project. His outrage is so fun. :-)
I agree, for me best parts of the movie are the interactions with Oscar's character and the gradual development of mutual feelings between Cross and Martha. They know each other from before, and now they need each other, but it quickly goes to a deeper relationship, and when she gives him the shot that's supposed to "lock it in", i feel it's because she wants to help him, not just because she needs him to survive, and then his gratitude, the hand holding in key places, it's very nicely done.
I loved the world-building aspect of this film. How Outcome (Hawkeye and Star Wars Guy) differed from Treadstone (Bourne), how they differed from LARX (the final agent they had to escape). All these different programs, some using chems, some not, operating with the people at the reins often not knowing the others exist. It just enhances the whole franchise for me. Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the fun reaction! 👍
The medication in this movie was not given to Jason. He was an earlier program that focused only on mental programming and conditioning. This was the next evolution of the process adding in chemical augmentation. The guy at the end hunting them was the next next step. Though we don’t see what that was. This movie is semi canonically attached but isn’t really acknowledged in the final film.
The pursuer is from the LARX Program. The point they make about it is thatthey have been able to suppress empathy. This makes the agent willing to do whatever is asked, without any qualms.
Jeremy Renner is a dang good actor. The Hurt Locker was his breakout role. He did a great job in this movie for the shoes he had to fill. There were no plans for Matt to return to the franchise, so the studio tried continuing the story with Jeremy.
This was my first visit to your channel and I was very impressed. Legacy is MY favorite. I thought it ingenious for it's integration with ULTIMATUM, for which it won an award, I believe. I was very disappointed that Renner had such a horrific accident, as I was greatly anticipating more od Aaron & Marta. So much potential! Rachel Weisz , being married to Daniel Craig, has a lot of experience in spy relationships.
Rounders” (1998) IMDb Rating: 7.3/10 • Actors: Matt Damon, Edward Norton, Gretchen Mol, John Malkovich Plot: A young man is a reformed gambler who must return to playing big stakes poker to help a friend pay off loan sharks, while balancing his relationship with his girlfriend and his commitments to law school.
Watch "Wind River", it's one of Renner's best performances. It can be a bit of a tough watch though as it deals with a tough subject. There is a fair bit of mystery and some action.
This movie is really well made and the chemistry between Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weis is really good. Their relationship building throughout the movie is a highlight. Would have been great to see more of those two and Norton. Norton is the most complex villain in the series.
They wanted to get rid of all the agents by causing some type of brain seizure. With Jason and Aaron left...I was hoping they would eventually have a movie with them together.
This is the only one that explains about the pills Clive Owen mentioned in the first movie right before he died so you can't leave this one out of the series
It's been so fun watching these with you, Step! You are adorable! I LOVE Rachel Weiss in this flick! She's so authentic and dialed-in with her role/character! I loved all the angles and all the great actors in this flick! Fun! You are the best!
This is Tony Gilroy communicating with every molecule of his body, "I don't actually want to make action films." To see him on more comfortable terrain, I highly recommend the legal thriller _Michael Clayton_ with George Clooney and the romantic thriller _Dupilicity_ with Julia Roberts.
That was the Gary Webb movie if I’m not mistaken. Real life hero of mine, the journalist who proved the CIA trafficked coke to the US. With Col. Ollie North’s help. You can actually find Ollie North’s journal at the National Security Archives which I recommend if you are into uncovering what the CIA really has done. It is the repository of all documents obtained through the freedom of information act. Found at George Washington University. Also I highly recommend reading Senator John Glenn’s Committee on Non-consensual human experimentation. It has details of the Tuskegee experiment and numerous others even testimony by subjects of MK Ultra. Who name doctors and institutions involved. It’s good reading. Also one of the MK Ultra doctors was Dr. Geoffrey Bourne Sr. Head of Psychiatry at the Grenada Mental Hospital. Coincidentally or not that building in Grenada was the only bombed during our invasion of Grenada in the late 80s.
Recently found your channel, and LOVE your reactions!!! I’m glad you watched this one. I don’t feel enough give it the credit it deserves. Anyway, looking forward to more 😊
Had a great time watching your reaction to a movie franchise I very much enjoy (yet your other commentaries are equally as fun). Highlights for me in this fourth installation were the lore on the different CIA programs, the use of medication for enhancements, and the way it took place parallel to the events of Ultimatum. And like you said quite the cast, with lots of established actors. Though the first time I watched TBL it was hard for me to get properly invested tbh. This was due to the shift in tone of the film -the first three movies felt darker and more depressing to me - and the less introverted, energetic personality of the lead (Renner). Not to mention I was used to Bourne's story, as we bonded with him throughout his trilogy. Nowadays I can appreciate this film much more, and it's sad we didn't get to continue this particular journey. I like to think our leads succesfully escaped, with the goverment no longer chasing them. Basically giving them the happy ending Bourne never got. Renner's romantic dynamic with Weisz also provided a refreshing contrast to how difficult it was for Bourne to emotionally connect to people like Marie and Nicky. Still, the way romance was portrayed for both characters suited their personality and story.
Hey Steph, while watching your reaction for a second time I remembered your fear of heights wheen you saw Jeremy Reiner jump from mountain ledge to mountain. And you are asking "WHY!!!!" Hilarious. These Bourne movies really do test every faculty of your senory capacity. Let's not even mention the needles. HA
If you want some more Jeremy Renner in a great movie, I recommend The Hurt Locker. As far as The Bourne Legacy goes, if they had left the word "Bourne" out of the title and made the ties to the previous 3 movies weaker and less prominent, there would have been more time to focus on Aaron & Marta. For me, it feels like they chopped off part of what would have been a good movie (in its entirety) to add in stuff that would sell more tickets. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it as much as you did.
My recommendation is Jeremy Renner in the movie TAG. Lots of characters you'll recognize, a rom com action film I think you will enjoy the relationships. It
Jason Bourne is the first One.. Aaron Cross is the perfect Bourne Legacy.. *Jeremy Renner have 2 movies with Mission Impossible, it's really really good..
Fun Facts this movie came out after the Bourne Identity ...they wanted Matt Damon and he refused to be in another Bourne series until the production made the film more action and more excitement.. that's is when he came back for the Bourne Supremacy when they hired Paul Greengrass to direct and the rest is history ...Mr. Greengrass brought everything that's made the Supremacy and Ultimatum the most action packed.
New subscriber and so glad to have found your channel. You have a very engaging style. So happy you loved this movie as it often gets overlooked in the Bourne world. Look forward to more of your reactions Steph 👍
Hey Steph, sorry I'm coming to yur reacion a few day late. I loved your reaction to this movie. -------- I knew you would love getting into the back story of the various enhanced solider programs. ------ I wish I could have given you the heads up but I didn;t want to spoil the reaveal for you. Trust me I loved getting the back story aspect of things. -------- Now for sure you are immersed in the world of high level spy craft with the CIA and NSA. -------- Plus you got that touch of romacce that you needed. ------- Great work as usual. I'm really loving your channel.
I really like this take on the story. Renner and Weisz were super and so what the rest of the cast. I like how they show the ‘real world’ of the Participants. Renner tries not to kill anyone, except for CIA bad guys. He is trying to solve a puzzle with Weisz. Jason Bourne was an add-on because Damon had so much star power. They paid him a lot to play the role again but I don’t think Damon liked doing it. I think it is just ok but maybe you will like it.
This is my favorite of the Bourne movies after the first one. Also, I think he had to keep the tracker warm so once it was out of his body stuck in his mouth and then he got the wolf to swallow it so they wouldn’t know he removed it.
"what happens if he doesn't take them?" In Universal Soldier with Van Damme, they over heated and mental shutdown incurred, they blacked out for unknown amounts of time.

I, like you, am a hopeless romantic. I love the Bourne movies. After serving 6 years in the US Marine Corps, I have also pictured myself as an agent of some kind. However, I am only 5ft 1in and 125lbs. So......I chose to serve my community as a 9-1-1 Dispatcher and then as a Correctional Officer in a medium security state prison. So much for being a super hero. lol
I loved this movie. I don’t understand why people don’t like it. Im glad you liked this movie. It's so underrated. You're right, Jeremy Rener had his own style...he didn't try to replicate Matt Damon's Jason Bourne who doesn't know how to relate to people. Jeremy's character showed more nuance with other people.
Hi Steph, I`m glad you enjoyed this film as much as I did, I believe I had not seen the MCU films before seeing this. So, I was impressed with Jeremy Renner solely on this performance & I had hoped there might be some sort of link-up with Bourne, in a follow-up film. I was surprised to learn other fans of the franchise did not enjoy it as much.
I admit that i read the novel and didn't love it as much as the movie. Too long, too convoluted. This is one of the movies that is better than the book it's based on (The Shooter with Mark Walberg is another one of this sort for me, the movie is a great summary of the book).
Jeremy Renner killed it! Loved the storyline and creativity in this film! Great reaction as always! I'm going to throw this out there but maybe after the Bourne movies you might want to get into the Tom Cruise Mission Impossible series when you get a chance 😊
Hey Steph, I'm Glad that You Enjoyed this one...as I'd Hoped You would! I'm Sorry that this Edit was so difficult, hopefully the next one will go smoother...either way, Thank You for everything that You're doing!👍 I too really Wish that Aaron's Story could have continued; there was even a Rumor that He and Bourne might have Teamed-Up together...but sadly, it wasn't meant to be.
Great reaction Steph!, glad you enjoyed it. It got panned on release, completely unfairly imo. It's a great addition to the franchise. Tony Gilroy did a great job taking over as director for this one. I'd love to see you react to one of his brother Dan Gilroy's films if you haven't seen it yet... Nightcrawler, starring Jake Gyllenhaal (and produced by Tony) Great movie and one of Jake Gyllenhaal's greatest performances. Keep up the great work!
@@cinemawithsteph On release it was not at all popular with critics or audiences, mainly because it was a Bourne movie with no Bourne. I think it was just seen as an unnecessary cash grab. Personally I think it's a well made, well acted movie with a decent story that works perfectly to expand the "Bourne universe" It will be interesting to see what you make of "Jason Bourne" which imo IS the unnecessary cash grab of the franchise.
Yet they talk about him still being operating 'off program'... and how valuable it would be to get samples from him to see what his physical status was. That clearly implies he was on meds earlier while active in Treadstone.. Damon and Clive Owen both talk about headaches in the first movie... "treadstone sends pills"... seems to imply the treadstone agents were on meds while under the program.
"I'm going to wait for the next person to show up to kill you ... maybe they can help me." 😮😮😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 Its a shame we never got the Bourne/Cross crossover movie! :(
Steph, you are so cute clinging on to the romance aspect of the action flick. It so endering, it makes me chuckle. ------- I am all for shoot em up bang bang, but you will learn when an action flick can interwiew love, romance or familiy in a smart way it makes us connect so much deeper with the characters. -------- Many action flicks will be recommended to you in the coming months. You'll see when the romance is tossed in as an after thought that is what pisses off aciton movie fans Based on that I have another recommendation for you. "PIITCH BLACK"
I'm glad you reacted to this movie, I thought it was a very good addition to the bourne franchise. even though Oscar Isaac had a small role, I really liked the interaction between Renner's character and his.. There's a lot of possibilities for more bourne stories imo. I'd love to see Renner and matt damon together in a bourne movie. but I think Oscar Isaac could make a good lead in a bourne movie (we never saw him die so he could have gotten away somehow). I also really liked Clive Owen's character in the first movie, even though it was really brief. I like the idea of these programmed supersoldier "drones" who for some reason become aware of their own autonomy. they're really tragic characters in a sense.. slaves basically, until something or someone comes along to wake them up
The interaction between Oscar Isaac and Renner is great, both characters say little but betray so much about themselves, one of the best parts of the movie for me.
Great job with the commentary and edit as frustrating as it was . I thought they did a good job weaving the film with the Bourne series . Steph a true romantic ) we just have to imagine them living happily ever after ...
Hey Steph, I think I have a great movie for you to check out, "CONSTANTINE", "Gattaca", "Nightcrawler" (2017), "Ex Machina", "Fight Club". Have fun girl and keep on growing. Your channel is getting really good.
You might like the series "Hanna" (2019) spun off from a movie of the same name. The series recaps the film and goes beyond it, so you can skip the film. Very Bourne-like premise but with young female engineered assassins. Think "Black Widow" from the MCU but much younger, dealing with a Bourne-like scenario.
Honestly I turn the film down to help with passing copyright checks. If I don’t do that, it won’t pass. Or I can just cut those sections out from my reactions completely, but then it’ll be quite short as most scenes have music playing 😅
This is probably the least realistic of the films CIA-wise. Good writing in the first half though. If you're Ivy League smart and have a certain personality you can join the CIA. If you are amazingly fit and have a certain personality you can be a SEAL. If you have both you can be a Jason Bourne. You dont need meds.

Underrated movie. I like how this goes into what happens *because of* Bourne exposing what the CIA was doing.

Before Hawkeye, Jeremy Renner really made a name for himself (an Oscar-nominated performance) in the film "The Hurt Locker."
That title sounds familiar! If you’ve seen it, do you think it’s worth adding to the list?
@@cinemawithsteph Definitely. And Anthony Mackie ( Falcon/Captain America) is in the film as well.

Its right up your alley! 😉🥰🤣😂😁😎
Wouldn't you agree, that Bourne, Jeremy's character join up to fight?
I thought Renner was great in this I hope they do another one with him at some point.
Great casting, Renner & Weisz fit together even better than Jason & Marie imo 😊❤
Great job with the commentary and edit as frustrating as it was . I thought they did a good job weaving the film with the Bourne series . Steph a true romantic ) we just have to imagine them living happily ever after ...
Definitely have to! I won’t accept anything else lol
I can barely hear the sound from the movie, but the volume of you speaking is loud and clear.
Hey Steph, I think I have a great movie for you to check out, "CONSTANTINE", "Gattaca", "Nightcrawler" (2017), "Ex Machina", "Fight Club". Have fun girl and keep on growing. Your channel is getting really good.
I always hoped Jennifer Garner would do a Bourne's angry sister movie.
Please, match the sound of the movie to the sound of your voice. A lot of reactions have the movie sound lower
The Bourne series of films are better than the John Wick ones any day of the week.
IMO, of course. 🙂
difference isbourne is trained.. legacy r enhanced with drugs
You would like him in #TAG !
If you wanna do a great Matt Damon reaction , Rounders is a great movie along with John Turtorro and Edward Norton it is Amazing actors
INTERSTELLAR…!
On the list!
Watch 2016 Jason Bourne next!!
Currently editing 😎
@@cinemawithsteph I’m interested to see your take on it!
Wasn’t my favorite at all 😬😭
one more movie… “Jason Bourne”
You definitely need to work on the audio
Please adjust sound levels-film too low, your mic too high.
Honestly I turn the film down to help with passing copyright checks. If I don’t do that, it won’t pass. Or I can just cut those sections out from my reactions completely, but then it’ll be quite short as most scenes have music playing 😅
Gonna need you to up the pace of uploads ma'am, have run out.
Trying! It’s really hard while working full time 😅
This is probably the least realistic of the films CIA-wise. Good writing in the first half though. If you're Ivy League smart and have a certain personality you can join the CIA. If you are amazingly fit and have a certain personality you can be a SEAL. If you have both you can be a Jason Bourne. You dont need meds.
Worst reaction to a Bourne movie. Don’t waste your time and watch!
Worst Bourne film and storyline
