An equally inventive time travel-esque movie about preventing an atrocity is "Source Code". The ultimate timeline twister is "Primer", which has discussion boards and websites devoted to it. I'd add "predestination" from 2014 which is based off the mind bending 1959 Robert a Heinlein short story "-all you zombies-". Another great time travel series is the German tv series " Dark" on Netflix
There is also another movie that has a VERY similar premise. "Frequency" from 2000. Very similar crime thriller with a time travel twist. In fact. I just did a check on IMDB to verify the date of the movie and found out Jim Caviezel, who was the antagonist in Deja vu, played the protagonist in Frequency.

Tony Scott is a great director. You might want to look up his very first film which was called "the hunger". It's a love story in a vampire story. But these vampires are not supernatural. It had David Bowie and was beautifully shot. The movie really put him on the map. Great reaction team.

It was after our shifts had ended lol. I was also stationed at Naval Base Ventura County when they filmed Pearl Harbor, JAG, & The West Wing.

We spend so much time with the time watching team and we get into their hearts and minds then we are not able to connect with them at the end. -------- The whole team meeting up some where near the blast site would have gotten the tears from both myself and Sam. ---------- When I first saw the movie, I was in the position that Sam felt, where Doug Carlin dies and his self sacrifice is so impactful only to have him appear to start the investigation. ---------Thanks for doing this reaction to "DeJaVu and thanks for sharing your brilliant minds with us as you worked to piece the clues together. You guys are still the best 4 years deep into the reaction game. Love it.
If you think about it, Denzel re-visiting the timeline (his fingerprints and bloody towel in her house) and the fact that there aren't two Denzels existing the first time, means that he had been on the ferry but FAILED to stop the explosion the first time and died during the failure. We're watching his second attempt to stop the explosion.
@@charlize1253 Second Denzel might have been in New Orleans, but he never even got to the boat. Since we see the ferry guard looking in the truck the first time around. He never even got close to the truck to stop the explosion.
@@charlize1253Excellent observation, but I think youre relying on a looping, model. If so why stop at 2 .
I think they meant us to assume a branching universe(s).
The beginning of the movie is an alternate timeline/universe where Denzel failed .
The ending is the universe where he/they succeeded.
in the universe /branch where he succeeded Claire is alive. I think the branch happens when Oestedler sees his truck and soubles back.
The Deja Vu is quantum memory/awareness?
Man I haven't seen this in years, when I was like 13 this was one of my favourite movies. Densely is so good and the twist/pay off was genuinely interesting. I thought it ended pretty lackluster, on this rewatch, but still enjoy the reaction. Lol
For more great Jim Caviezel, I highly recommend the movies... The Count of Monte Cristo from 2002, Frequency from 2000, and Angel Eyes from 2001!!!
Heidi
He wàs also good as Jesus in the 2004 film "The Passion of the Christ"
@@MDBowron Yes. Absolutely!!! I absolutely love Jim Caviezel as Jesus in The Passion of the Christ. I just feel that this movie would be far too difficult to watch as a reaction, given its subject matter and the whole movie being in Hebrew and with subtitles. It doesn't make for a good reaction. But it certainly is very beautiful and phenomenally acted. :)
Heidi
@@heidimarcum5984 one thing I did enjoy about that film was the use of historical languages like Aramaic and Latin which I think was the first to do that
@@heidimarcum5984 another two great films that get meta about Jesus is the 1957 French film "He who must die" and the 1989 Quebec film "Jesus of Montreal" both of which can be watched on TH-cam for free.
Jim Caviezel is great in The Thin Red Line and Frequency.
LOVE this movie! More people should see it. Thanks for the reaction.
I love this movie! Might be my favorite Tony Scott film. I’ve recommended this movie to people over the years, and purchased it for people for birthday presents. Excited to see this one!
A very underrated time travel movie. One of the most original concepts too.
Tony Scott is a great director. You might want to look up his very first film which was called "the hunger". It's a love story in a vampire story. But these vampires are not supernatural. It had David Bowie and was beautifully shot. The movie really put him on the map. Great reaction team.
The Saint(Kilmer), Enemy of the State(Scott)
I never saw this movie until a couple of years ago and it made me think of my girlfriend that died in a car accident and how I wish I could somehow pull off what this movie pulls off. Great movie!
Ill always remember this movie for the cotton balls in the trash and the voice message. Crazy good to me.
Great reaction, I was riveted when I first watched this.
Can't go wrong with Denzel
You absolutely can.
Great reaction, I love this movie, very underrated IMO, hope more people discover this gem
1:43 - FALLEN - If you were only ever able to watch one more Denzel Washington movie in your life, make it... 'Fallen' (1998).
...yes it is....
@@John_Locke_108 Nicely remembered.
I was stationed at NAS JRB Belle Chasse, LA when they shot this film. They grabbed us one afternoon and had us throw on our working white uniforms to play the extras. It was after our shifts had ended lol. I was also stationed at Naval Base Ventura County when they filmed Pearl Harbor, JAG, & The West Wing.
A GREAT movie, one of my favorites! There were TONS of holes in the movie, but I still loved it! You guys were terrific!
Tony Scott + Denzel = Unstoppable. (bonus+ Chris Pine)
Frequency with Jim Caviezel and Source Code have similar themes to this that I think you would enjoy
Lifelong New Orleans resident. It blows my mind how characters in movies can cover 20-30 miles in the span of seconds.
Downtown New Orleans isn't a hop, skip and jump away from a bayou 😂.
I am so happy you are reacting to this movie! It is so overlooked!
TBR and Samantha, another great movie selection and a great reaction!
Keep it up! I'm sure I'm not alone in the way I am thoroughly enjoying your channel and reactions!
P.S. I love the dad joke.. wait until you're a grandpa, then you can tell all the dad jokes you want and occasionally toss in a dirty joke just to keep 'em guessing! 😊
Thank you so much for doing this movie!! I will never understand how more people don't love this movie.
*THE* ideal movie for TBR & SAM
Literally why we love this channel is when you guys get a good movie to use your detective skills on
You didn’t disappoint
So cool to see you guys react to this one. I loved this movies back when I watched it and now whenever I hear that Beach Boys song Don't Worry Baby, it brings me back to the fun I had with this film.
Absolutely love this film, and severely underrated.
I loved it too. Glad to see you guys watch it.
Finally someone watches this movie! Most underrated Denzel film and one of my favorites!
Wow I can’t believe it got 56% on RT. I love this movie.
If you want some great Kilmer - go with SPARTAN. This one flies under the radar for most folks but it is great. Written and directed by the writer of RONIN and the Untouchables. I personally think its one of Kilmer's best.
Always loved this movie. I would also suggest Frequency, with Dennis Quaid, as a movie in a similar vein. The bad guy in this is also in Frequency.
Real Genius is my favorite Val Kilmer as leading man movie of all time its a must watch.
Great movie! In my top 5 Denzel movies. Love the reaction!
Maybe an underrated movie but I will recommend again "Courage Under Fire" with Denzel, his performance in that is amazing.
Denzel the GOAT
Hey Daniel and Sam, I'm so glad you guys were about to experience the intensity and cleverness of DeJa'Vu. I asked you guys to check this one out since you watched "Crimson Tide" and as you can see it did not disappoint. ---------- I love this reaction channel, because you guys watch movies not to follow the algorithm, rather you watch movies for the love of a great story. I loved this movie when it came out, but for some reason it was never a big hit. -------- I do think Daniel's alternate ending suggestion would have made the story feel more complete. Great reaction once again.
One of my favs from one of my favs
ATF used to be under the US Dept. of Treasury. However after 9/11, is was moved to the US Dept. of Justice and renamed the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (BATFE). It is still euphemistically referred to as ATF.
They have some of the Best Explosives Scientists in the world. Their K9 National Odor Recognition Test (NORT) is a World-class Certification.
That kiss was unplanned, the director loved it and left it in the scene.
