    In my opinion the difference between turning a steering wheel in a car and getting off the side of a bike hard on the brakes and tipping into a turn, feeling the tires grip the road Is big. The excitement u get from getting it right on a bike is amazing. Only those riders out there know what I mean. Isn't that really what life is all about? Fun..

    sure you don't have to wear leather to drive a lambo, you only have to be a milionair while you can buy a used superbike for less than 5000usd and have a lot more fun than you can in any supercar. The biggest difference is that any weak driver can drive a modern lambo while with a motorbike its a diferente story...

    MMM... lots of bikes have awesome power to weight ratios (I ride one myself) but with 4 wheel drive and a lot of computer technology a car is quicker around the corners. I notice that the guy had to really push the Lambo to get in front though.Tthe bike is much quicker off the mark and accelerating out of the bends, but the sheer traction of four big sticky tyres and all that computer stuff means that around the corners it's no contest.
    Which would I choose to own? The Aprilia... but then I am a bike nut... :-)

    I'm a tad confused by this video. By their very nature, these types of comparisons are designed to give quantifiable data for people to argue over at the pub or online. However, where most publications run a series of performance tests, you guys have just stuffed in some flashy clips and some generic royalty-free rock music as some filler. What gives?
    You talk about wow factor, which is wholly subjective (even though it's tough to out-do a toxic waste-green Lambo) and the only numbers you talk about (price, horsepower, power-to-weight) is stuff anyone can glean from thirty seconds on google. It's analogous to covering a motor race but only talking about the cars and showing a few highlight clips of the sighting lap.
    People want to see these things strut their stuff against each other at ten-tenths and get a taste of what it's like from the driver's/rider's seat.
    Run a proper comparison and FFS, if the track is wet pack your bags and do it another day.

      im a rider. so im not bias at all. but a lamborghini definitely turns more heads than a crotch rocket. crotch rockets are very common in cities, lamborghinis are much more rare and get much more attention. if you disagree, you're a complete idiot.

    • @ironDsteele
      @ironDsteele 10 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I don't disagree, but RSV4's are no scooter. They turn more than enough heads and I've seen more Lamborghini's this summer than Aprillia bikes.

      ironDsteele I Agree So far in my area, i've never seen a Aprillia bikes or even european motorcycles besides one Ducati near my house but i live in a highly populated area .. iv'e seen Gallardo's, aventador, ferrari, mclaren, aston martin, jaguar, more lambos ...but one thing i love about riding a bike is that you get respect from other riders, when passing or at a stop you get either a Thumbs up, wave, head nod, my personal favorite ..Revving you Bike out and not saying lambos doesn't it's just of my experience . I say that People don't give enough credit to motorcycles then to super cars.

    • @ironDsteele
      @ironDsteele 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Everything you said is true. I live in a city of about 10,000, There are more bikes here than supercars (obviously) but even far less Italian bikes if any. There are biker groups, fundraisers, poker runs and the list goes on. You can go to Timmi's or Starbucks and have coffee with riders you don't even know. Anyone here who drives a supercar is pretty much at a one man party; no one really gives a shit! Personally, I have more fun on my RZ500 than any car could ever offer me :)

    • @mikebac1
      @mikebac1 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I ride a '12 RSV4 Factory so if anyone's opinion is biased it should be mine. I LOVE my bike and from enthusiasts who know what they are looking at I get attention but lets be honest here. To the average person a red and black sport bike looks like a red and black sport bike. 9 people out of ten haven't even heard of aprilia so they aren't impressed when you pass them in traffic. I am the only person in the large city near me that has one and I turn no more heads now than I used to on my CBR. EVERYONE knows what a Lamborghini is and most people will recognize them on site. My 2 cents is that the video sucked but I have to agree that the Lambo has way more wow factor.

    @MidShipCivic The first traction control was actually mechanical called limited slip where mechanically the wheel with the least amount of traction would begin to spin. In today's electronic vehicles use the same sensors used in antilock braking system when it determines one wheels is spinning more quickly than others it actually pumps the brake on that wheel to help lesson the slip, Some do reduce engine power and in those vehicles usually you feel your gas peddle kick back.

    While accelerating, grip is not the problem - engine is. So the bike accelerates faster. The added surface grip area for cars actually translates into more speed through the corner and shorter, faster braking.

    @Ph8ck It is in the corners, typically. More traction, and not limited by lean-angle.
    The bike also takes a hell of a lot more skill in the corners, and will murder you if you make a mistake.
    The bike also costs much, much less than the car and is closer to flying a fighter jet than driving.

    I have ridden a superbike as well as been in a super car. You are correct on performance - although at the best of the best, meaning at the upper echelon and putting money aside - cars have better performance. Check the Nurburgring times to see what I am talking about. Bikes offer more for less money, and cars offer more for more. Not to mention I have two kids now and a ferrari, turns more heads than any bike.

    Why is it that every bike vs. car I've seen where the bike looses it's because the motorcycle rider can't or won't commit to the turns the way he would in a race - mostly because the track conditions suck (dirty, wet, cold, etc...) In this video both both vehicles are clearly spraying rooster tails of dirt which limits traction and affects the bike much more than the car.

    "It has a wow factor the bike just can't match"
    I would have said that having more than twice the power to weight of the Lamborghini, that the bike in-fact has a 'wow factor' that can't be matched by the car.
    The bike is faster, and we are comparing performance on a private course, however we are a car magazine, so we say that the car wins- due to what is an unjustified and inarguable personal opinion.

  • @StigRossi
    @StigRossi 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mate - for the cost of the Lambo you could have a 0 mile Honda NR750, a 0 mile Desmosedici if any are left, a Ducati 1098R, 1199, Fireblade and all those bikes you named AND maybe have enough left over for an M3!!!!!!

  • @mezza1098
    @mezza1098 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    if you read over your comment you will recognise that you have based the 'wow factor' on looks alone. We know that the wow factor is not based on looks alone becasue we would have catergorised this as asthetics. so therfore we must interpret 'wow factor'; as all aspects of the machines. ie performance, asthetics etc. now when he was reviewing both machine i believe he was concentrating more on the feeling the machine gives you as opposed to the feeling it gives to onlookers.

    the feeling the machine gives you? How can that be when he did not take the bike for a spin? (Read the article, observed the video).
    You can pretty much say that his conclusion was made after only evaluating the aesthetics not asthetics and say 2% on performance.
    I think this guy was thinking mostly on what would turn the most heads (onlookers). A bike with power, or a car with power and also awesome aesthetics.

    2)Just because the rider is skipping his knee across the ground, it does not mean he is fast, any racer can do that at 20mph, when we start seeing the rider nearly/or dragging his elbow, and leaving a black line on the ground then we can start comparing
    3)Why are we comparing a track-day car and a stock bike?
    4)Nothing can compare to the speed or power to weight ratio of a sport bike. The lamb would need to have nearly 1HP/3lbs to be compared in levels of apparent power. Do the math

    here are the facts: in terms of raw performance, a street bike will always be better value than a street car. you can buy a kawi 636 for 5 grand and it'll run 11s all day. i'd have to invest more than that to make my miata run 11s reliably. but my miata will corner harder than a bike with the proper suspension setup. cars have more contact patch = more grip, which means better cornering. bikes have better hp/weight ratios so they accelerate faster. bikes and cars are good at different things.

    @root9king I agree accelerating from naught to 60 in under 3 secs i think you would be more than WOW, only thing alive that can beat any form of motor bikes at all are formula 1 cars, but at least with bikes you can take 300km/h on the road rather cheeper than any thing on 4 wheels that can achieve it.

    If most bikes weren't electronically limited to 187 MPH, no car would stand a chance.
    Still, the Lambo was bad ass. However, I just find the thrill of going 120 on a bike more enjoyable then going 160 in a car. And cars cause traffic jams. Me living in Cali, a bike is a god send. Traffic doesn't slow me from going where I'm headed.
    But to each his own.

    Anybody can drive a car. You need way more talent to go fast on a bike. The undeniable fact is that a bike is way more fun to ride then a car is to drive. You need more skills, you personally need to follow the road, lean the same way you would do if you would fly. The faster you go the smoother it is. Today’s cars have enough power to fight and win against the laws of physic. On a bike, you have to work with them, no matter the power you have.

    @MidShipCivic second any car vs bike is dependent upon a multitude of factors, on a closed track your average sportbike will chew your average car, even sportscar to pieces depending on the track. Tracks with much braking and cornering will always favor your higher end sportscars do to more rubber on the ground and better braking. On the street in a canyon it is the same with a higher edge going to the sportscar simply because of unkown variables such as sand and cowshit.

    Fun factor? Try bike+racetrack, bike+twisties. Car is just a cage and you can't lean on it.
