      @@EpicEric2002 exactly. the etb sleeves are way too sexy for me to not use. i'm just gonna put my cards in and keep em in there forever. if they do "damage" the cards, so what? it's not like I'm gonna take the cards out and find out.

      @Miles-xf5mx and they are just extremely convenient. I tend to use the etb sleeves for all the decent hits and just use a nicer sleeve and top loader for the big hits. Works perfectly

      Going through pages causes friction between ETB sleeves and the card all the time. Just not to an extend as shown in the video but it still happens

  • @travislewis1486

      He did. U think your ETB sleeves don't friction against the card when moving pages in a binder? They do. Quite a lot actually. For collectors it's important info.

    I never use ETB sleeves... nowhere does any ETB packaging I've ever seen say "PVC free" or any such pertinent information, so I always assumed they weren't meant for storing your collection, merely to store cards that you would play with.
    Thanks for the video!

      Excellent point that I totally overlooked. Yet another reason to use an inner sleeve if you're going to use ETB sleeves!

    I’ve never had issues with ETB sleeves. Especially the older ones; I had a Blastoise ex full art I pulled from the Japanese version of Generations back in 2016 that I immediately sleeved and stored away in one of the XY era ETB sleeves. Last month, I sent it into PSA and it came back a 10. I think people are just too rough with the sleeves.

  • @coreyapotter

    Ugh. I think I've decided that if I'm going to play with my cards (the TCG), I'm not going to be worried about the value/condition. If you're a collector trying to preserve cards, going once into an ETB sleeve, then into a binder... it's probably mostly fine. Not everyone wants graded cards. If you can keep a card NM, it will still have solid value if the card is desirable. If you're going to play the game with your cards, don't expect them to hold the highest values. The value is in the playability, the conversations you get to have with other players about the rare cards, how you got them, and why you love the art.

  • @shardcards6474
    @shardcards6474 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    Duude... I mean DUUUUDE!
    1st - card would definitely get microscratches in almost any kind of more rigid sleve if you put it in and out 2000 times (maybe even in the penny sleeve). There are always some dust particles getting in and the plastic of the sleve definitely has some abrasion too, But i'm almost certain that if you did this test with any dragonshield or KMC or ultra pro sleeve after 2000 times result would be pretty much the same.
    2nd - reverse holos from SWHS era are by far easiest cards to get microscratched. Like 40% of them come with microscratches right out of the booster.
    If this video proves anything it is that card will get scratched if you roughly sleeve and unsleeve it 2000 times repeatedly. But who does that? Nobody...

    Good to know ya I probably won't do it 2,000 times as you said but it most likely will cause some light Dmg it's just to tight and any hole loosens up after 2,000 times

    What I like to do is to put the card upside down into the clear inner sleeve (dragon shield perfect fit) before putting it into the card sleeve so both sides of the card are protected. I also just put the card straight into the card sleeve before putting a large clear sleeve upside down to preserve the card sleeve as well.

    So I run a retro games shop and we do Pokemon stuff, ETB sleeves I always just give out free with low value cards and put anything expensive in a PVC penny sleeve instead for exactly this reason, we sent a load of stuff off to a graders a while back and they straight up returned it with a note that said "nah we're not touching this because there's too high a chance to damage the card on removal". The current S&V & CZ sleeves are particularly bad as every ETB we've opened they've had a 10 degree curve in them already due to overtight factory packaging that hasn't gone away even when left out weighted, or badly cut sharp tops & corners... The official sleeves look good, but they're just cheaply made rubbish.

    that kind of wear would only come from repeated sliding in and out. The main reason I don't like the ETB sleeves or use them is because they dull the look of the holo compared to a normal penny sleeve.

    When people say ETB Sleeves are damaging cards they dont mean swiping it in and out 2000 times. They mean the bending of the card because of the ETB Sleeves. This video was kinda redundant.

    One thing I've noticed is some ETB sleeves make it difficult to double sleeve with dragon shield smoke inners; even in the same pack. Some sleeves will allow the card to slide in while some will just not cooperate :/

    • @sparktite
      @sparktite 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thats some useful info for any new ppl to double sleeving there.
      Just wanted to add in that in my experience ive had similar issues.
      Im running under the assumption that my perfect fit inners have a very very small variance in their sizes or just a bit of a lack of complete control over all the tolerances.
      It could also be that my outers have the slight variance but i have this issue regardless of which outers i pair with the inners.
      (For anyone curious the inners i used are Prismatic Defenders Holographic Perfect Fit Sleeves)

    The sleeves that come in the ETB are the best option for the simple fact that they are manufactured by the Pokemon company. They are also rigid and of better quality than the ultra pro sleeves. On the other hand, no one has had problems with these sleeves unless that person is a scissorhands manipulator of the cards. This video is ridiculous.
