If I tend to shut my face at impact would need something with alittle toe hang instead of face balanced ?

General consensus is that if you shut the face at impact and miss putts left, then toe hang will help correct that, as the face will want to close slower in the swing. A face balanced putter will likely close the face quicker for you. However, despite that being the case for many golfers, the opposite could be true for you. It comes down more to technique and set up, and so the only real way of knowing, is to get fit or go to a pro shop and compare face balanced vs toe hang vs heavy toe hang. My guess is, a toe hang putter would likely help slow that face closing for you.

@@stuarthillier2156it is actually the exact opposite of this. Toe hang closes the face early so it would make his left miss worse.

Toe hang would make your left miss worse, it closes the face making you more prone to missing left. You need a face balance putter!

@@zg1106 This is incorrect but a common misconception. Check out Ian at TXG to explain this. He is regarded as one of the best in the business and has a huge amount of technology and data to back it up. Toe hang part starts at 6min mark -

Just found your video. What putter would you recomend for a pretty straight stroke and a tendency to miss left of the hole. Right now, using a toe hang putter

Toe hang slows the toe from closing (despite some ppl thinking the opposite - See Club Champion video on this) If you are pulling putts (left) with a substantial or moderate toe hang putter, then it may be a set up or alignment issue rather than the putter. A face balanced putter would likely exasperate the pull left as rotation would happen quicker with no toe hang that slows that face closing. General consensus is, if you push putts right (open face), then a face balance putter can help, and if you pull putts left (closed face), a toe hang putter can help. However, dive deeper and you will find that there is no one answer fits all and the opposite can be true for some golfers. Only way to truly know the solution for you personally, is to either get a fitting or go in store and try out the different styles.
