Having been a scratch player but a poor short putter all my life, I decided to take it on and learn to putt like a touring pro. And I did. It took about 200 hours under a seven foot string. In the end I learned that you have to follow the teachings of putting great Ben Crenshaw. Tiger has followed them as well. The best explanation was by Paul Azinger on a TV broadcast. Said Paul, "all good putters know that you have to give up control of the putter in order to gain control of the putter". Touring pros today call it the release. By getting the putter into it's own momentum, you take yourself out of the putt. This is why Crenshaw wanted the putter ready to fall out of your hands. This is the only way you get it fully released. Tiger's right hand only drill helps with this too. It helps you to learn to lose control. Interestingly, Arnold Palmer always said that to be a good putter you have to have zero tension in your arms, hands, and wrists. In the end, this is more or less the same thing. Also know this. Making short repeat putts by timing can be very misleading. The timing will not be there the next day. You have to learn to get the putter released (some may call it swinging).
Thanks for sharing this. I have been on a 3-putt roll recently and developing a nice case of the yips. Claw grip is helping, but I will try your suggestions including putting in the hours.
Man, you’re a great teacher. The concept of putting with your core is so important. It makes sense as to why my pace is so inconsistent, especially as the greens get faster.
This video is just what I needed as I suddenly I started to miss to the left. I especially liked the part about the left wrist position at the impact. Best putting video ever!
Best putting coach I have ever listened to on yt including all the coaches working with current PGA players👏 well done you have great explanations and concepts of the putting stroke and you have a great way of teaching it
Ok that video just answered 95% of my putting queries. Now to put it into practice. Putting from the core is 💎 advice! At first I thought your videos were a bit too long and now I really value that you have a student there who makes similar mistakes to me and I can watch the process and the discussion unfold. ✅👍
I know that speed is dictated by the back stroke not the thru stroke and many people believe the opposite. In this video you mention that the butt end of the putter on the thru stoke should be inline with the left arm pit. Does that apply to all putts, short med and longer putts. I notice on tour a lot of guys do this. Spieth, and Cantlay to name a couple. Please let me know. Thank you.
I like this method. I saw something once when I was trying to get over my yips. That a good visual is to imagine where the clubface needs to be after you've hit the putt, in order to sink the putt. I'm sinking so many more putts I would have previously missed. Now I only need to work on pace and green reading! 😅
Hi - tks for this awesome putting lesson - as an Aussie I've been following you for a while now - just wondering where can I buy that alignment ruler? Cheers Tony
Do you ever explain where a person should position the golf ball if they are right-handed and left-eye dominant? I tend to position it forward of center under my left eye. Would you still want me to move it more to center? My miss is typically to the left. I may have it too forward sometimes, so maybe just left of center would be best. Just bought your SPNMW ruler. Great video!
Awesome stuff again, cheers! I've read about "linear and non linear" putters, seeing a line, picking a spot, etc - and personally struggle with standing over a ball and then tracing my eyes down a straight imaginary line to my "spot". I assume I'm non linear, yet it's hard to visualise a curved line also! Any chance you could touch on this sort of stuff in future?? Cheers!!
Got a new putting mat that more realistic, hitting all my putts to the right of cup. I feel like I'm leaving face open, but it looks square to me at address, aiming more to the left helps, but doesn't feel right
The player with LAB putter doesn’t need to point the butt of his club at his left armpit The grip angles the shaft and de-lofts it already What kind of putter does the instructor have? Great vid btw and very good info
@@PorzakGolf- by the same rhythm/tempo, does that mean a quicker stroke for a longer backswing ? Also, holding the thru stroke roughly at armpit, is there circumstance where the swing thru would be longer ? Great content & explanation !

Can you suggest exactly what to do? I have the string and I’ve just started exploring the claw / pencil
Kids got the MEZ! Best putter out there.
Perfect lesson. I went from 33 putts on Monday to 28 on Wednesday with 4 birdies after watching this video. Thanks

I love this guy. I stumbled across one of his pitching videos and now I’m watching all of them 😂. Great stuff.

I've been struggling with 3 putts for so long....buying different putters and practicing...this video for me is the next big thing
Just superb teaching from this guy!

Thank you for giving us a chance! We won’t let you down!
You need more of a follow-up through to hit a six-footer on our greens at the moment! Great video with lots of takeaways - thanks
Some of best putting advice. Great tips. Thank you
Need a video on speed control for putting please. You’re the best
Good stuff. Some I have worked on in the past but this reinforces those thoughts. Will work on it tomorrow.
Great video. I've been struggling with where my elbows/arms should be and getting the "connected" stroke - not my hands!
With these swing thoughts, I feel like I can make everything!
We got you covered Devin!

If you can dial both of those elements, you'll be going very very low!

@@PorzakGolf Do you think there is something to that lab golf claims? Torque free, etc?
Greatest putting video ever.

I’m a firm believer of look at the hole, hands naturally guide ball to the hole…. Magic
Great video. Key words "Straight putt no matter what". Absolutely Brilliant. Is it possible to get one sent to New Zealand?
Great video. Michigan has me waiting a couple more months before I can get out there to the greens.
You can always purchase a putting mat and work on these positions!

Best putting video I’ve ever watched. Thanks!
What ruler or putter rule was used?
Awesome!!! Thanks a bunch!
Where do I buy one of those putting aids?
Clearly explained and helpful 👌
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video! WHere can we find this ruler?
Hi Adam where can I get that putting aid you used in the video ?
Does pushing in to the ground apply to the golf swing too
The player with LAB putter doesn’t need to point the butt of his club at his left armpit
The grip angles the shaft and de-lofts it already
What kind of putter does the instructor have?
Great vid btw and very good info
My issue right now in putting is placing my hands on the putter. No matter what i do it doesn't feel or look right
Hi Adam! Thank you for the video. What was the training aid called again. I thought you were coaching me lol I have the same problem. Thank you again!
Here ya go!

I have definite tendency: outside three feet, i tend to miss. I cant read a four footer.
Very nice but that LAB Mezz putter is the key to a great putting stroke
Do you bring the putter back more depending on distance? Or same every time? I never know which to do.
Different lengths of backswing depending on the length of putt. Same rhythm/tempo on every putt.
@@PorzakGolf- by the same rhythm/tempo, does that mean a quicker stroke for a longer backswing ?

What is that putting Aid
called
What’s the name of the putting ruler please
Straight Putt No Matter What!
You can find it on our website! 🙌
Sam Snead said to hold the putter like you were holding a bird, that you didn't want to escape, but that you also didn't want to hurt.
Says product unavailable when trying to order the ruler.
I like to practice putting with an alignment stick undet my armpits
Fantastic drill!
I love that drill
I’ve gotta know what kind of putter Adam is using here. Someone help me out!
Lab MEZZ
SPNMW?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks!!
Where can I buy this aid?
Loren Roberts NEVER dragged that handle.....always at the centre.
Stopped watching after hearing: NOBODY PRACTICES THE PROCESS OF ALL THREE...
Yet you commented on it?
@@dougcrawford66 of course! I do practice all 3
