    As a car enthusiast I am happier the 2nd gen is a 2.4 N/A. More power is always better with bigger displacement. Why would we need another smaller engine with a turbo in today's auto market. That's what all the mainstream is doing and the response, power linearity and delivery is not the same as an N/A car.

    • @sunnyyang3259
      @sunnyyang3259 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I can't see Subaru or Toyota ever adding a turbo into the official trims for this car, since the original AE86 didn't come with a turbo and the instant response of the naturally aspirated engine is part of why that car became well, legendary.

      I am happily disagree with everything Sofyan is saying.. I much preferred Subaru over the Toyota. Is also a more serious car with serious handling characteristics. If you want maximum grip on the track you want BRZ... however I do understand some criticism, especially around the throttle response. However it isn't something you can't fix. With Toyota there are way more likely to have less grip and that's more fundamentally harder to fix.

    I like this car for several reasons, it's RWD, it has a manual transmission, not as expensive as other cars. I think this is a fun car to drive. Ok, rear seats may be small and have enough room for people but hey, small sports cars aren't made for hauling people. This car and the Mazda Miata are my favorite cars to drive. Nice car and video. After test driving an 86 last year, I've been shopping for a 2022 BRZ limited trim. While I think the GR86 looks better, I wanted a more compliant suspension. In the San Francisco Bay Area, Serramonte Subaru is charging $15,000 above MSRP, and with added dealer options, it's $50,000! Diablo Subaru in Walnut Creek is expecting one in 2 weeks for MSRP, so I've reserved it. My wife said it reminds her of my old Mazda RX8. Having previously owned 6 coupes, including V8s, I'm alright with less power, more balanced, more practical sports coupe.

I don't care about free market etc., these cars are built in another continent, if it wasn't for these stupid dealerships, we could order directly from Japan. Not more refined? I had two versions of the prior generation and this is worlds different it’s not even close as far as refinement goes. The interior is much nicer than it was in the prior generation. The quality of the materials that they use inside is an upgrade the leather steering wheel and upgrade the doors the way they open and shut an absolute upgrade the infotainment and the electronic speedometer/odometer upgrade I can go on and on and on. Not sure what you were expecting. Maybe you should drive the prior generation one more time just to get an idea of how cheap everything was in the car

      The FA24F in the Ascent is a turbo and has a 10.6:1 compression ratio. It runs on 87 octane.
      But the FA24D engine in the BRZ is naturally aspirated and they increased the compression ratio to 12.5:1
      Higher compression ratio usually requires higher octane gas.

    So glad this car and the new Z exists. I don't care neither runs on a clean sheet design, they're both a throwback to the 90s JDM golden years.

    Is there no car manufacturer that can make a decent looking interior AND exterior. It’s always one or the other. The outside looks GORGEOUS from all directions and then the inside… lmao. It’s like they only had pizza-party budget money left over and used it to design the interior. The startup chime, wtf is that? The instrument display cluster?? The infotainment??? The steering wheel????The buttons and knobs????? I just.. don’t understand?!?

    Turbo adds more cost! so I don't see why it's necessary besides being some sort of childish 🙃 adult children thinking 90% of the buyers are getting turbo, but really it's only 10% because of this so called economy inflation where everyone is moving around in circles.

    Typical cheap Subaru interior. I've owned 2 Subaru vehicles, a previous gen WRX and now a current gen Impreza Sport and they both had the cheapest interiors I've ever had in a vehicle. The worst thing about Subaru interiors is the endless rattles. I swear, no other manufacturer has as many rattles in the dash. It's infuriating and so annoying. They need to re-engineer the fasteners they use or something.
