So the red seal is not used with this transmission ? What is it for?
I think it is for a different model transmission. They did some re-engineering early on and changed the seal size and the steel plate and bolt size in the neutral drain. Thanks for watching!
Hi Chip it's me again. Can you please show me the right way to align the cluch spring and the brake cam. Thanks keep up the great work 👍
Sure thing! First, twist the brake cam to disengage the shoes while pushing the spin tube all the way into the brake drum. Then insert the transmission shaft into the tube and rotate the clutch spring so that it's 180 degrees away from the brake cam arm. If you have it lined up right then the transmission should seat firmly on the bolt post.
So as long as the transmission bolts up its aligned correctly?
Yeah, it should be.
How thick are the gears in the direct drive transmissions compared to the older belt drive ones? What are they made of?
Hi, Jerome, thanks for the comment. I’m not sure how thick those gears are in comparison. You sure ask a lot of questions about the fine details of these washers, details I really don’t have immediate answers to. Unfortunately I don’t have an older belt drive transmission that I can disassemble and make a measurement comparison. Perhaps you could get this information from Whirlpool. I don’t have a contact number for them but you may be able to find it on the internet. Thanks for the comment buddy!
@@HarperandKnowles I just want to know how thick the direct drive gears and the oil is. What material are the gears and what oil is in these?
My best guess is about an inch thick and it’s 90 weight gear oil.
Oh, and the spin gear is plastic and the other gears are steel.
