I have a Kenmore series 80 washing machine. It filled up and then nothing. After testing it, it seems that the tab on the lid that pushes the safety switch down must have broken off some of the tip and is now too short to push the switch down. I'm not even sure what that part is called to look up any information. Any idea how to take that tab off and replace it?

Here’s a real test for all you diagnostic guys out there. I have a basic Maytag electric dryer less than 5 years old that keeps blowing the fuse at the fusebox. The dryer is getting power and it lights off just fine and gets hot. It runs for approx 10-15 mins then blows the breaker. I have watched approx 12 videos including this one on how to diagnose the various switches, thermistor, thermostat and parts inside the back service panel. I have used the multimeter to test all those parts and I am getting continuity on everything. What could be causing this thing to blow the breaker???

Good day Sir and may I say thank you so very much. I had attempted to fix the leak from my whirlpool washer 3 previous time. You were the first person in all of the videos and help session to give me the correct instructions. Lubrication and the use of pcv taperd tubing with the shafts already in place! Perfection! 4 weeks and not one drop of water has been seen. I love my old machine and did not want to see it go away. You have given it new life and I hope to keep it running for another 25 years!

At 11:20 in your video there's a white cap near the top of the picture. Does it matter where you position this cap? Does it snap into the top of the black, bottom cup? What's it used for?

So glad i found this video. I washed a load of clothes and didn’t know there was a pen in the load when I put it in the dryer- financially I’m unable for spend unnecessary money so I started panicking thinking that I would have to replace the dryer that came with the unit I’m in. I went and got acetone and the magic erase and this works SO FAST I was so shocked and amazed. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!! Truly❤️🙏🏽

On the suspension rod, there's a sliding white cap. It's just above the lower socket and with a little push the socket will pass over it. When that lower socket is snapped into the outer tub, does it matter where that cap sits on the rod? I almost looks like it's supposed to snap into the lower socket to keep the socket from coming out. But nothing is ever shown on this. Any ideas?

It's ridiculous, everyone says "Get a Speed Queen", but expensive. I never had an issue getting a Whirlpool for $450 to $500 that would give me years of use in the past. Now 2024 every machine except for Speed Queen has horrible reviews.

So I'm assuming nothing is worth buying unless you can afford the Speed Queen.

I enjoyed your review. When a washer gets way out of balance for a long time, why would it be impossible to fix? Is it because the holes in the drums enlarge? There are shims you can buy for that. They tighten the fit between the shaft and the baskets.

I have a Frigidaire Stackable Washer and Dryer model FFLE3911QW. Recently, the washer stopped working after completing a wash cycle. The lid remained locked for a while, but eventually, it unlocked. Now, when I try to start a new cycle, I press the start knob, and all I hear is a beep, but nothing happens. The lid doesn't lock or show any other signs of starting. Do you have any suggestions on what might be causing this issue? Thanks in advance.

I have the Whirlpool, been almost 4 years and it starting shaking. I replaced the suspension rods and got a little quieter for a couple weeks, but not a huge difference. Then got very loud again.

I sent my husband to the hardware store, while he was out, I did another YT search and saw your video. When he got back (they didn't have the part) I told him to check the pump just in case and low and behold it was my son's sock stuck in there!! We couldn't get it out but found the part online. Saved us from getting a new washer!!! God bless you for posting this and helping us all.

I am a fan of Goop glue. It has self-leveling and micro-adhesion abilities. If used in sunlight, use marine goop.

Chip, great repair video. You were not kidding about the Scotchkote being expensive. I took a quick look and that stuff averages about $200 for five pounds. Have you ever tried FlexSeal or a 2-part epoxy to repair a leaking tub?

Are there no washing machines made now that don't use suspension rods? I know why they use suspension rods because they fail and the machine needs to be replaced. Aside from Speed Queen, does any manufacturer make a decent washer without suspension rods??? Thanks!!!

Speaking at f the ball and plate below the shaft, does the plate go in convex up or down? I’m thinking the convex part fits over the ball? In other words convex pointing up, so fed down over the ball? Do you change neutral drains and lid switches in every unit you get even when they are working properly? Something to consider here. I usually only change them when the washer drains and spins at the same time. Have a couple I need to change now. When they don’t spin, I usually check lid switch and clutch. Been lucky so far. Not sure how much longer I will fool with appliances. I like the old dependable direct drives but getting fewer of them. Not sure how much I want to fool with the electronic pieces of… crap. That being said, I do wish I knew more about repairing the boards, but at 68, not sure about learning that part.

Where to get the best suspension rods for Amana ?

I have that first one and hate it. Weak anemic agitator. First time I ran it thought it was defective. I want a maching that will help the soap knock the dirt loose. Not to mention the ridiculous lid swith broke and left a load of clothes in water. The thing would run but for a broken lid switch. Is there a washer like the "old days" that beats the dirt loose?

Hi, I have a similar model GE washer that has a similar symptom. I replaced the main board and the run capacitor but didn’t fix it. It fills and will agitate exactly 10 times and shuts off. If you select the drain and spin function, the drain pump works but about 5 seconds after starting to spin, it stops. Do you think a bad motor speed sensor would cause those symptoms? I’m tired of throwing money at parts that don’t fix it. Any wisdom would be appreciated!!
