    I love your enthusiasm.. it’s been decided after watching your review. I’m searching for a used 1090 R!

      I'm an Aussie living in Poland. There aren't many 1090 ADV R's around, so I might be waiting a while!@@TRCAdventures

    I am only watching this because I couldn't take my 1090 with me overseas...I can't wait to ride again.
    Thanks for sharing!

    Great Review!!! Best all round bike ever!! 100% agree with everything you said, my 1090 is set up exactly the same, even the dongles and ride modes. Canister delete for tool bag-check, mirrors, air filter, front fender, rear racks etc.. I do like the bigger pegs for extended riding while standing though. Even the tires as you said, always ready to go. I consider myself blessed to have found this bike as my first bike in 20 years and I chose it over the 1290R for simplicity. You can easily lower the bike an 1 1/4" with a rear spacer without losing any travel which helps, but really all dirt bikes are tall and you just have to slide your butt over and pick which side your going to put foot down. Bit of a learning curve but she's worth it.

      Thanks for checking out the video!
      I do agree I do like it more than the 1290r I had it’s all about simplicity! When I’m hundreds of miles from any help I really don’t want all the electronics and gadgety, just a great bike!

    Try the Dunlop Trail Max tires for your 1090. I absolutely love them on mine. Phenomenal road handling and increased fuel economy and perfect off road too. Seems to give way better tread life too over the TKC 80 as well. Nice review. Thanks!

    So does having TC on in sport mode on the street cut some power. I can't get the front wheel off the ground like that. I also weigh about 230lbs. Maybe that's why.

    • @TRCAdventures
      @TRCAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TC cut power when the bike sences a speed difference between the front and rear wheel, so yes it cuts power big time!
      Your weight would not be a limiting factor in the bike pulling the front wheel off the ground, quite difficult nearly impossible to wheelie with TC on

  • @gueroloco6334
    @gueroloco6334 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You mentioned a fuel dongle. What does it do? Any way to remove speed limiter?

    • @TRCAdventures
      @TRCAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Rottweiler Performance 'Fueling Dongles' are an effective and simple method to improving the fueling mixture of any fuel injected KTM by allowing the stock ECU to deliver a proper mixture at low to mid RPMs
      I've never found a place to take the bike over 130mph, and never run tires that come close to being safe at that speed, I would never see a reason to remove the speed limiter?

    I’ve heard the bigger KTM’s put out a ton of heat. Friend had 1190 and sold for a BMW R1200GS. Can that be fixed or is it something you have to live with?

    • @TRCAdventures
      @TRCAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The problem is that much of the heat was directed right at the front of the seat, roasting things people would rather not have roasted,
      The 1290 suffering the most due to the slightly different body work.
      The hot aire is flowing around the air box
      It is an easy fix! A few ways
      1) A small deflector at the base of the seat
      2) some people replace the air box, for performance or sound gains, then the flow no longer is routed to the seat.
      My 1090 with the stock air box was delivered with a small deflector from the factory and I don't get any heat. Before that My 1290 when I picked it up directed so much heat I had to stand up in traffic on the way home, yikes, I installed the deflector and no longer had the issues.
      My 1190 I replaced the air box and never had the issue

    How the F*%k do you rate an adv bike by riding only on black top?

    • @TRCAdventures
      @TRCAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That's a good point, have taken this bike down through Baja mexico along the Baha 1000 route, in Colorado, Idaho, Navada and California BDR and my all of my local SVRA off road area's, black Dimond trails. I also ride the trails of the many off road areas in Norther California. it may not be as nimble as my KMW 500 or 250 but it does incredibly well, with the added plus that I can ride to each area rather than loading it up in the back of my truck!
      I do my ride reviews on pavement because its a more controlled environment close to my shop and takes much less time to get the videos out.
