    The 1090 is badass. For a very big bike in the dirt it is utterly awesome. It tracks, power and rides through almost anything while sitting beautifully on the highway. That said - best fun is loading into a corner while on the pegs and drifting your way out under power

    Never thought I would sell my 950 but after riding a 1090 I had to have one. The R is exactly what I've been waiting for and exceeds my expectations. The stiffer suspension is a huge improvement over previous models and has just enough features without crap you don't need.

    you did well changing to street mode! chris birch always says off-road mode is for beginners. more experienced riders should put street (for the softer throttle response compared to sport) and turn traction control off and abs in off-road mode.

    That was super well made! I’m starting to notice that an honest 99% of all KTM Adv Bike videos are sponsored or professional videos like this. There’s an extremely small amount of regular owners Gopro videos of these bikes.

    After riding my 1090 for about 1.5 yrs. Maybe I'm getting too old, but if I drop it in the dirt, it falls flat as a pancake. Leverage points to lift up the bike is too difficult even for a 6' 190lbs rider. Especially when you're in the dirt, footing is not ideal. I have to ensure someone is behind me. Other than poor leverage points, its a great bike.

    I would like to watch some kind of comparison between the F800Gs and those heavier bikes on off road capabilities cause I like the BMW but I am still a bit in a doubt about the bike to buy taking in account that I am 6'7" tall. Thanks

      With 6,7‘‘ it’s perfect for you 👌🏻, it’s made for taller driver ! I’m 6,2 (have a 2 cm lower second bade-seat, but the 89 cm fit’s perfect to). Standing driving could be another thing ... wonderful bike 😍

    Oh MY GOSH!!!! Please don't tempt me any more..... I'm in love with my 990.... but I could seriously fall for this bike...... Does it have a "sport" mode? How does it do in fast open desert terrain?? As good as a well set up 990? better?

    Heya Rocky. Which new one should I get: Kawa Versys 1000 (2016), Yamaha Super Ténéré 1200 (2017), Suzuki V-Strom 1200 ABS (2017), or KTM 1090 Adventure R (2017)? I like all of them even though there's some price disparity. I left out whatever I don't like or can't afford, and the Africa Twin for the same reasons you mention, tech overload. Thanks!

    Great review... but I still can't see a reason to place my ancient KLR 650. Lighter, just as capable on the riding areas shown and much less electronics to bother with.

    • @denleemel
      @denleemel 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bear Morgan Much more stable ride on both dirt and hwy, and much more comfortable for two up. Of course twice the price though.

    • @txtallywhacker
      @txtallywhacker 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The KLR suspension and carb will never be half as good as what is on this, I don't care what you do to it. The KLR makes around 40 hp and the entire bike is biult on 30 year old technology. This makes around 125 hp. You just compared a walmart shopping cart to a Mercedes G-wagon. In the end, they will probably go the same places, but if you seriously can't see why the 1090 r is better, then you don't need to be riding motorcycles at all.

    I mean you say a little tight for 'this size of a bike' but really it must be said, 6.1 gallon fuel tank!!! 507 pounds WET!
    In reality KTM has dropped the competition flat on it's face as far as mobility is concerned.. This bike should prove significantly more potent than the triumph Tiger 800, bmws beautiful F850GS and even Triumph tiger 1200, which weighs about 70-80lbs more than this yet yields the same power output.
    Meanwhile, this weighs the same as the tiger 800 and f850gs is heavier than this.
    So it's on the bottom end weight wise, upper echelon power wise. That's a hell of a recipe for an ADV bike, 507lbs is not bad.
