I was going to mention the unfortunate passing of the voice actor, as well as a perfect intro for RDR3 would be the Blackwater Massacre, introducing Landon after we see a bit of the Van Der Linde gang in action and then inevitabely jumping back in time to the late 1860s or early 1870s. I don't think finding a voice actor replacement would be too difficult for Rockstar, especially considering their resources and how enticing these opportunities might be for voice actors. Yes! A Red Dead 3 focusing on the height and the prime of the old west, with a young Landon Ricketts. Not only can we experience his story as the most dangerous gunslinger of the west, but also his time as a lawman and his involvement in the brutal firefight during the Blackwater Massacre against the notorious Van Der Linde gang. His perspective of the Van Der Linde gang from the other side of the law would be amazing. 😎
In addition to focusing on Landon, a RDR 3 set back when he was younger could also include a younger Rains Fall as a major character too, in this way it provides another perspective to explore on the same time period.
Sequel idea to RDR3 We play as Javier after the events of beaver hollow. So basically his story would work to fill in the gap between 1899 to 1911. We can get answers to how Dutch and Bill form their gangs and can get real confirmation to Karen Jones fate And later on the game Javier acknowledges his former brothers in arms have turned to different man and he heads to Mexico. He becomes a hit man and his redemption might include his mother and the ppl he wronged in Mexico. Depending on his honour , John kills him(low honour) or john captures him and he dies a better way(high honour)
We need RDR3 to be set in the height of the West (1870 through the 1890s). A post-WW1 story wouldn't make sense, as the West was over by 1914. It would be great to see revolvers and rifles at the dawn of the cartridge era (while there were cartridge guns like the Spencer and Sharps in the Civil War, they were still a new invention. They wouldn't become commonplace until the 1870s with the invention of the Winchester Model 1873).
I think it would be cool to have red dead 3 be like right after the civil war in the 1860s or 70s. Maybe a couple blown up towns and maybe you could play on like a border state and go to the union and confederate sides of america or something like that

Horrible idea, what makes the character work its his grey morality not knowing when exactly the madness started. That's what makes his character work so well. Making a prequel ruins that.
a prequel wouldn't be good because he started the gang like in his late teens very early 20's and Arthur was a kind probably like 10-12 when he joined not long after John joined like there really wouldn't be a lot of story they could make and make sense with the last two games
Everytime I watched a video about this question I see the typical Landon rickets or Mac callander but why hasn’t anyone (anyone but me at least) talked about a prequel uncle game we don’t know his real backstory and from what we know from rdr1 and 2 he great with a gun and can rob banks always made me think what was he really capable off just imagine playing as prime uncle or the one shot kid in the prime of the Wild West
There should be a story similar to the revenant, where you have a solo game again like in RDR1, back when the west just wild with native tribes and untouched land, surviving the wild, while fighting off tribes, fighting off other trappers,

They'll go the route of a sequel to rdr1 taken up the mantle of Jon Marston's son. That'll be the end of that whole story arc. Rdr4 onwards or maybe a spin off game will focus on other characters and locations is my guess.

To stay in the same narrative of the Van Der Linde gang, I have this idea. In the mission where you play dominos with Tilly, Arthur mentions that Dutch has killed an ex gang member because he betrayed the gang many many years before. Perhaps we get to play as this mysterious guy, maybe even at the start of the Van der Linde gang, then he gets his redemption by helping the law by a failed bank robbery, and then he gets discovered, and we get to play as Arthur in the epilogue and find out about what happened with Eliza, or when John left the gang, or how Javier Charles and Micah joined the gang, or probably all of them in an extended epilogue
I like the idea of a sidequal. Story could be happening at the same time of red dead 1 or 2. New places and old. Could run into known characters from time to time.
They need to go to the high point of the old west era, maybe late 1870s. They could do post-civil war 1860s, but that would limit the types of revolvers to cap and ball, which could slow down gameplay (could work maybe though). Late 1870s you would be seeing cartridge revolvers. Can't do another game with Jack, his story is over. An early 20th century game with a different character just doesn't seem right. We already saw early cars in the games. Can't do one with the Callander brothers; we hear in RDR2 that they were just goons. I'm not sure why these premises are so popular. I think an earlier game that has Landon Ricketts in it, the early van der Linde gang referenced (maybe even crossing paths with the main character), but some other main playable character would be the way to go, taking place around 1880, though I could see something anytime between 1865 and 1880. I like the idea of Landon Ricketts being the main playable character, I think the only things against him are that we know he will live, and he is a more clear lawman/good karma character as opposed to the outlaw blank slates we had with Arthur and John.
That's my point though, that Rockstar could and should do something different and therefore it would be fresh and original with a heroic protagonist who survives; instead of the criminal/former criminal at the end of the wild west era who eventually meets their fate, which has been the case now for two games.
Also it can be argued that just because he was a gunslinger, that doesn’t mean he necessarily was a lawman or even always morally competent. After all, it’s clear he dreads or at least regrets his past when John meets him in RDR1. I think it would make for a cathartic ending to the RDR trilogy, Landon always did seem to be like what John could’ve, and should’ve been able to become. Ending (at least what I hope would be) the trilogy off with one of, if not, the only gunslinger of his time to actually be redeemed and live peacefully could be so satisfying for players.
A Dutch prequel that starts right after the Civil War and featured more Native American characters could be neat, young Dutch the gunslinger. Of course a Jack Marston game set in the 20s would also be awesome, kind of a bridge between Red Dead and Grand Theft
I think it should be about Charles, in his wandering years. For how cool he is. Or about Uncle, also in his youth. Because he embelishes so much about his experiences, we think that he's lyng. but turns out it was actually true, but not as shiny as he make it out to be. He was just extremely lucky.
I've been saying Jack Marston as a bootlegger for like 6 years now. Timeline matches perfectly, weapons would've progressed greatly, horses and wagons were still being used, the introduction of automobiles. Think of the film Lawless with Shia Labeouf.
Agreed, could be a very fun game. Just modern enough to have new gameplay mechanics and just old enough to keep that western atmosphere. Best of both worlds.

But from a gameplay pov, it wouldn't be much different from RDR2, you'd actually have less weapon diversity. A western prohibition game would be innovative. Jack Marston's time in WW1 would be a linear interlude. And the open world would begin in the country, horses and wagons and open plains. Ah it well never happen but I have such a vivid idea for it

I think it needs to be another pre squeal and be about the Origins of the gang, I think you should play as a young Dutch or a young hosa because that would give them plenty of space to make up new characters and the end of the game could be the blackwater Massacre that way it finishes the story and everything would be fitted together
Exactly what I think. Go back and play as Dutch and Hosea when they find Arthur and John, and the start of the O'Driscoll feud, then end it with Blackwater.

Hard to say which direction they will go if this title is even going to happen at all. Can't go too early because the lack of firearms variety would severely hinder player enjoyment. Can't go too late because the whole Wild West lifestyle was dead and gone by about the time of RDR2's epilogue. Personally I think they maybe should separate themselves from Dutch's gang because I don't see what else there is to do with it without diluting its legacy. But then how do you tie in the RDR concept. Maybe we play as just as a guy in a small gang that has run-ins with Dutch's boys and join forces at different points so we get some cameos but the story arch leads into something not reliant on that gang. Then as time goes on our gang can grow and we go off into our own unit, after learning from how one works by working with Dutch and co. It will be interesting to see how they pull this one out.
I like the idea but unlikely the game would take place in Mexico cause that's where he filed in his twilight years. It would be taking place out west like California, Nevada, maybe as far east as Kansas
Story of Lyle Morgan (Arthur's Father) living in the wild west, writers can make him a good story about living as an outlaw and redemption before he die and epilogue of playing as Arthur again, how he met Dutch and Hosea and how they formed the gang then the game will end on Blackwater Ferry Heist mission.

Agreed. A new character with a California, Nevada, Arizona, and Northern Mexico setting would be awesome. The character could be navajo, cahuilla, or someone associated with the natives in one way or another. Could be very interesting.
That would be my ideal next red dead game, it doesn’t need to be rdr3 it can be red dead something else. And the Native Americans were in my opinion one of the best parts of the story and world of rdr2
You my friend are a true fan of the Red Dead series and u are based. But the boy story is technically done man...even if they were to finish his story. it would be short asf because he has 2 options, run away or be captured by Pinkerton's or bounty hunters. But it would be interesting not gonna lie.
Playing as mac Callander would just be rudundant and boring. Armadillo, blackwater, tall trees, for the 3rd time. Saint denis, Valentine, all these towns over again would just be boring.
I agree with the first part of your sentence, but remember Red Dead is a time period game so going to these location in 1899 or 1911 have a complete different context to the era the game is protraying
Pull a GTA 5, bounce between Dutch and Hosea, and go through finding Arthur, to the kick off of the feud with the O'Driscoll's, to finding John and the rest of the 'family', and end it with the debacle in Blackwater. They've been going backwards so far, and they have a lot of unresolved plot points from the earlier parts of the story, so it makes sense. But we shall see.
Idk why so many people say the Callander’s. doesn’t that defeat the entire “redemption” theme? In my opinion, the story needs to be wrapped up, with Jack. Jack lives like the last wild western outlaw, on his own. He runs into Charles somewhere along the way, Charles helps him commit crimes. but only to make sure that Jack doesn’t end up dead, over time Charles convinces Jack to leave the life behind, and helps him get his shit together. Jack moves back onto beechers hope, makes it the nicest farm in the county, and becomes a writer like he always wanted, using Arthur’s journal and John’s writings in that same journal to pen a book by the title of “Red Dead”.
The callanders is a nice idea, but difficult to work with generally. The game protagonist could be Mac Callander, ending in the blackwater Massacre. We know that in the shootout he gave Arthur his horse to escape, which could be seen as his 'redemption'. The only problem is that it leaves no room for an epilogue, since we pick up shortly after in the beginning of RDR2..

Nope absolutely NOT, respectfully they shouldn't treat Red Dead like GTA. And yeah, the next game should include new characters but it should build on the existing story and timeline.
I think Landon featuring would be great but considering we know his ending, I don’t think he’s a main story character. He’d be more suited to an epilogue. Personally I favour two stories for RDR3. 1. Play as the 3rd and oldest Callander brother. Run your own gang with Mac and Davey but go your separate ways. 2. Play as a lawman and a gang member (GTA V style) then they end up on a collision course, both have their own honour so you can get 4 different endings.
Personally, I want an RDR 3 with Jack. I feel like that’s a strong old west story there. The setting isn’t really gonna be an issue either. Rdr1 ends in 1914. America doesn’t join WW1 until 1917. But regardless the entire war from start to finish was never fought on US soil or Mexico so that is a non-issue.

You omitted how I pointed out that Landon could also have a redemption arc to his story and that it doesn't have to be called or have "Redemption" in the game's title, similar to Red Dead Revolver. Regardless, featuring the same story over and over again - an outlaw pursuing redemption - is redundant and stale.

But from a gameplay pov, it wouldn't be much different from RDR2, you'd actually have less weapon diversity. A western prohibition game would be innovative. Jack Marston's time in WW1 would be a linear interlude. And the open world would begin in the country, horses and wagons and open plains. Ah it well never happen but I have such a vivid idea for it

I think it needs to be another pre squeal and be about the Origins of the gang, I think you should play as a young Dutch or a young hosa because that would give them plenty of space to make up new characters and the end of the game could be the blackwater Massacre that way it finishes the story and everything would be fitted together

Go back and play as Dutch and Hosea when they find Arthur and John, and the start of the O'Driscoll feud, then end it with Blackwater.
Whatever happens i expect rdr3 to be the strongest we've ever seen the dutch van der linde gang and i expect to see Arthur,john,dutch,and hosa all in there Respective primes
Hard to say which direction they will go if this title is even going to happen at all. Can't go too early because the lack of firearms variety would severely hinder player enjoyment. Can't go too late because the whole Wild West lifestyle was dead and gone by about the time of RDR2's epilogue.
Personally I think they maybe should separate themselves from Dutch's gang because I don't see what else there is to do with it without diluting its legacy. But then how do you tie in the RDR concept. Maybe we play as just as a guy in a small gang that has run-ins with Dutch's boys and join forces at different points so we get some cameos but the story arch leads into something not reliant on that gang. Then as time goes on our gang can grow and we go off into our own unit, after learning from how one works by working with Dutch and co. It will be interesting to see how they pull this one out.

I like the idea but unlikely the game would take place in Mexico cause that's where he filed in his twilight years. It would be taking place out west like California, Nevada, maybe as far east as Kansas

Story of Lyle Morgan (Arthur's Father) living in the wild west, writers can make him a good story about living as an outlaw and redemption before he die and epilogue of playing as Arthur again, how he met Dutch and Hosea and how they formed the gang then the game will end on Blackwater Ferry Heist mission.

Very Cool, but I don't know.... By this point we're used to not knowing how things end and we get very invested. Isn't that part of the charm not knowing what's gonna happen to us, the player?

Agreed. A new character with a California, Nevada, Arizona, and Northern Mexico setting would be awesome. The character could be navajo, cahuilla, or someone associated with the natives in one way or another. Could be very interesting.
That would be my ideal next red dead game, it doesn’t need to be rdr3 it can be red dead something else. And the Native Americans were in my opinion one of the best parts of the story and world of rdr2

But the boy story is technically done man...even if they were to finish his story. it would be short asf because he has 2 options, run away or be captured by Pinkerton's or bounty hunters. But it would be interesting not gonna lie.
Playing as mac Callander would just be rudundant and boring. Armadillo, blackwater, tall trees, for the 3rd time. Saint denis, Valentine, all these towns over again would just be boring.
I agree with the first part of your sentence, but remember Red Dead is a time period game so going to these location in 1899 or 1911 have a complete different context to the era the game is protraying
Pull a GTA 5, bounce between Dutch and Hosea, and go through finding Arthur, to the kick off of the feud with the O'Driscoll's, to finding John and the rest of the 'family', and end it with the debacle in Blackwater.
They've been going backwards so far, and they have a lot of unresolved plot points from the earlier parts of the story, so it makes sense.
But we shall see.

In my opinion, the story needs to be wrapped up, with Jack. Jack lives like the last wild western outlaw, on his own. He runs into Charles somewhere along the way, Charles helps him commit crimes. but only to make sure that Jack doesn’t end up dead, over time Charles convinces Jack to leave the life behind, and helps him get his shit together. Jack moves back onto beechers hope, makes it the nicest farm in the county, and becomes a writer like he always wanted, using Arthur’s journal and John’s writings in that same journal to pen a book by the title of “Red Dead”.
Wouldn’t that mean the game is based after 1914? It should be back in the true Wild West days instead of moving to ‘modern’ times
Yeah but the Wild West was kinda gone by then. There would have to be cars and a good amount of paved roads
The callanders is a nice idea, but difficult to work with generally. The game protagonist could be Mac Callander, ending in the blackwater Massacre. We know that in the shootout he gave Arthur his horse to escape, which could be seen as his 'redemption'. The only problem is that it leaves no room for an epilogue, since we pick up shortly after in the beginning of RDR2..
This game sounds incredibly boring. I'm glad the decision doesn't fall in your lap. Absolutely no one wants to play as Jack again.

I don’t see why they should keep it related to the story at all. Fully new characters, map, everything. They don’t connect the GTA games.
Nope absolutely NOT, respectfully they shouldn't treat Red Dead like GTA. And yeah, the next game should include new characters but it should build on the existing story and timeline.
I think Landon featuring would be great but considering we know his ending, I don’t think he’s a main story character. He’d be more suited to an epilogue. Personally I favour two stories for RDR3.
1. Play as the 3rd and oldest Callander brother. Run your own gang with Mac and Davey but go your separate ways.
2. Play as a lawman and a gang member (GTA V style) then they end up on a collision course, both have their own honour so you can get 4 different endings.
Personally, I want an RDR 3 with Jack. I feel like that’s a strong old west story there.
The setting isn’t really gonna be an issue either. Rdr1 ends in 1914. America doesn’t join WW1 until 1917. But regardless the entire war from start to finish was never fought on US soil or Mexico so that is a non-issue.

You omitted how I pointed out that Landon could also have a redemption arc to his story and that it doesn't have to be called or have "Redemption" in the game's title, similar to Red Dead Revolver. Regardless, featuring the same story over and over again - an outlaw pursuing redemption - is redundant and stale.
