I agree, however rdr2 was the death of the west, rdr1 was after its death and how people like John are changing around that. So the next game (if it is another prequel and not jack’s story) would have to take place in the Wild West’s prime.

Landon Ricketts serves as both an amalgamation of various historic western figures and at the same time a sort of metaphor for the actor who portrayed the character. Ross Hagen was a working actor, he had bit roles or supporting roles in western movies, TV shows and dramas. In a way he never really got his big break until he got older but his big role as Landon Ricketts is a sort of chapter end and metaphor for the passing away of the old west as fact and into legend and then mythos of and for the proud American identity, it also serves as a sort of book end for a chunk of silver age hollywood that no longer exists today sadly. Much respect to rockstar for the nods they give to the actors that passed away by naming part of the map after their real names. RIP Ross Hagen (Ricketts) and John O’Creigh (Uncle)
“Be wary of an old man in a profession were they die young” “There are old sell swords and bold sell swords, but no Old Bold sell swords” I feel both fit Landon pretty well.
You have to admit. Even despite what we do know about him - Landon is a mysterious guy. We don't really get to know him all that well and then he's gone.
On the newspaper where Ricketts is claimed to have been in blackwater, it says: "amongst many other *rumored* and verified killings..." which says to me that the Blackwater involvement was a rumor even in the first game, with no verification to it's claim-- and the butcher brothers killing was more verified of an event, though that part doesn't really matter as it isn't the topic of conversation.
I want a Red Dead Revolver II. Where the final mission of that game is the Blackwater Massacre and Landon is approached by Arthur Morgan, telling him how much he admires him and such and bam, Pinkertons show up and start blasting mid-dialogue and they mistaken Landon for Javier because of being next to Arthur, which would explain why Landon flees to Mexico
@Fizhy, I believe it was very possible that Ricketts was at Blackwater during the massacre, and probably either helped out the law, or stayed out of it entirely.
I think the point about Landon being in the Blackwater Massacre is de facto retconned/decanonised. 2 gives us absolutely zero reason to think anyone outside the immediate VDL gang and the Pinkertons were involved, save civilians like Heidi McCourt, and if an infamous gunslinger like Ricketts was there, someone would have brought it up once in the course of the game. It’s a consequence of changing the Blackwater Massacre into what it became for 2’s story, but it is nevertheless the case that it’s pretty much impossible to think Ricketts was somehow involved and the other survivors/perpetrators of the massacre never mentioned “Hey Arthor, did you know the most famous gunslinger of our time helped us get off the ferry in Blackwater.”
Slim Grant is also on a famous gunslinger card. Slim became a gun slinging law man. Then state martial. Landon waa a gunslinger but I'm sure ive read somewhere in eithee RDR1 or 2 that he was a bounty hunter at one point. I'll have to see if i can find it again.
Yeah he could easily be the protagonist of RDR3 and the final mission is shooting up the Van Der Linde in blackwater. Landon injuring John, not even realizing who he is. I also think it'd be cool if Landon shot The Calendar brothers
Man I have both hard copy’s of RDR2 with map and all and RDR hard copy that just came out again this year i haven’t opened it but when I returned one copy and they opened it it didn’t come with anything regardless I still love it rather than GAME COPY ON CONSOLE I’ve played both these games the years they first came out and I can’t get enough playing them as a adult feels like I’m back young viewing myself play as a teen or middle schooler I still haven’t opened my RDR hard copy cause I’m finishing RDR2 again on highest honor ever full honor I can’t wait to replay and open RDR One baby
There is an movie that got released awhile ago called old Henry(Nelson Blake god tier actor tbh), it's abt hey what if Billy the Kid(yes the gunslinger) faked his death, and became a rancher(it's a good movie, especially when u finally realize its billy the kid.)But im guessing Landon Ricketts did something like this, hence why he's in mexico.
Would be cool if RDR3 is about Landon or Harlow’s kid/grandkid And either Jack is a second protagonist or shows up as a supporting character in missions where you and the other protagonist are going around piecing together the history they didn’t know about Get updated on what Landon was doing all this time, see his perspective of Blackwater and have a whole narrative that he’s on and we learn about Have flashbacks to when Dutch and Hosea met and members like Uncle and others meet Reveal that Uncle ISNT Harlow, BUT the handkerchief in his back pocket IS Harlows, they were riding pals before Uncle joined the gang, maybe his alcoholism got heavy following Harlows passing idk But yeah basically just fill in a bunch of gaps using a narrative around Landon in the past, then a more modern narrative around Landon’s descendant and Jack living in the new version of the map See Charles, Sadie, tribes moving in and fighting over territory that used to belong to the Wapiti, Charles helps them all have reasonable territories with the help of Jack Lots of other things you could explore!
But there's no redemption arc....that's sort of critical. His character is awesome and they put a lot of backstory into him, but there's no larger story there based on how we know him.
I honestly wish we had some kind of online mode where you could get missions from famed gunslingers. We already have Flaco and Black Belle, why not some others maybe Frank Heck!
Did Landon Rickets kill The Callender Brothers?? We aren’t told about how/when Davey got shot, and Mac wasn’t seen again by anybody except Agent Milton as far as we know. maybe Milton and Rickets tracked down Mac, with Rickets hoping to finish the job he started after he shot Davey?
I'll give you the exact dates as known. Arthur Morgan was born Nov. 7, 1862. He was 36 when he died on the cliff. Dutch 1858 and Hosea 1844. John is not 1873, he didn't know his exact age when he met Dutch. It's actually December 1871 making John 12 in Dec of 1883 and meeting Dutch , Hosea and Arthur in 1884 still 12 y old, Arthur says "I known John ...15 years." to Micah when Bell questions John's loyalty and it's 1899.
Thanks for another great video! One nit-pick is that I seem to remember Rickets himself mentioning the Blackwater job to John in RDR1, right before he gave John shooting lessons. I could be wrong, and my game is on PS3, so I can't play it right now to find out. :( Anyone else recall this?

Slim Grant is also on a famous gunslinger card. Slim became a gun slinging law man. Then state martial. Landon waa a gunslinger but I'm sure ive read somewhere in eithee RDR1 or 2 that he was a bounty hunter at one point. I'll have to see if i can find it again.
Landon would be such a good RDR protagonist. I get the vibe hes had an off screen redemption arc whenever i do his missions.
Yeah he could easily be the protagonist of RDR3 and the final mission is shooting up the Van Der Linde in blackwater. Landon injuring John, not even realizing who he is. I also think it'd be cool if Landon shot The Calendar brothers
This was a good one

Why no one talking about this?
A game around Landon would be cool
A young Landon Ricketts RDR3

There is an movie that got released awhile ago called old Henry(Nelson Blake god tier actor tbh), it's abt hey what if Billy the Kid(yes the gunslinger) faked his death, and became a rancher(it's a good movie, especially when u finally realize its billy the kid.)But im guessing Landon Ricketts did something like this, hence why he's in mexico.
I wanna read that Wild West Heroes book tbh that excerpt was low key interesting. I wish it was a real book lol
Bill looks older than John in 1911. John is 38 in 1911 so there's no way Bill is 29 by 1911
I think Bill is like 47 or atleast in his late 40s by the events of rdr1
@@smuller1090 yeah, that seems about right
“A new pair of pants and you think you’re Landon Ricketts?”
Pretty much what the narrative fails to impose upon the players.
Bless your soul sir!
Would be cool if RDR3 is about Landon or Harlow’s kid/grandkid
And either Jack is a second protagonist or shows up as a supporting character in missions where you and the other protagonist are going around piecing together the history they didn’t know about
Get updated on what Landon was doing all this time, see his perspective of Blackwater and have a whole narrative that he’s on and we learn about
Have flashbacks to when Dutch and Hosea met and members like Uncle and others meet
Reveal that Uncle ISNT Harlow, BUT the handkerchief in his back pocket IS Harlows, they were riding pals before Uncle joined the gang, maybe his alcoholism got heavy following Harlows passing idk
But yeah basically just fill in a bunch of gaps using a narrative around Landon in the past, then a more modern narrative around Landon’s descendant and Jack living in the new version of the map
See Charles, Sadie, tribes moving in and fighting over territory that used to belong to the Wapiti, Charles helps them all have reasonable territories with the help of Jack
Lots of other things you could explore!
I hit like, before I watch a Fizhy video. #fan4life
Do a video on Guarma
Probably the person who I wanna play as the most in a RDR3
But there's no redemption arc....that's sort of critical. His character is awesome and they put a lot of backstory into him, but there's no larger story there based on how we know him.
@@Slider6294the redemption arc could be him becoming a lawman in his later years
@@Slider6294Then they could've make a new story called Red Dead Gunslingers or Red Dead Reckoning
The story of Redemption is over
Whats the song at 1:40 ?
Table top by Daniel lanois
I honestly wish we had some kind of online mode where you could get missions from famed gunslingers. We already have Flaco and Black Belle, why not some others maybe Frank Heck!
Did Landon Rickets kill The Callender Brothers?? We aren’t told about how/when Davey got shot, and Mac wasn’t seen again by anybody except Agent Milton as far as we know. maybe Milton and Rickets tracked down Mac, with Rickets hoping to finish the job he started after he shot Davey?
If there will be a third. I want to play as uncle. Not Red Harlow, but The One Shot Kid!
Word I was watching literally typed up Landon last night then today fizh was on the same shit crazy Lool 😂👊🏾
Anyone know the name of the song in the first half of the video?? I know it’s from the game.
Mandela effect. Forget it and move on.
He says something about the blackwater job but I don't think he says anything about him being there
@@KC.45 Totally could be. I know the Strange man mentioned it when John and he first met. I might be placing bits of that in my recollection. ;)
@@Primitive_Productions Oh, so I may not be crazy! LOL. I should go find someone's playthrough and confirm it. Thanks for letting my know I'm not so far out with this memory.
@@d.hardenart8917 Confirmation bias or another Mandela effect.
I think rd3 should show what happen in black water I don’t care how they do it but just do it!
@Fizhy,, Id like to believe that Jack Marston meet Landon Ricketts and got trained by him to prepare to avenge his father
You know, I’m a gunslinger, myself and a bounty hunter I am a mix between the two
What if RDR3 was about Landon Ricketts. What a game that would be!
I said this years ago be epic !❤
I think playing g as a young Dutch would be cool. When rdr2 came out I thought for sure we was gonna able to play as him.
Red harlow Is The truest of gunslingers
I can't believe Ricketts is only 50 years old...He looks like 78 to me.
It would be nice if Rockstar made remake of both Red Dead Redemption 1 and Red Dead Revolver with RD2 graphics.
