Jun makes a joke saying:
...Because we (the males) have no choice but to cook.(What Jun was trying to say)
The joke is that the reason the males are the cooks is because they are “forced” to cook for the other in the couple.

Kadie Jenkins who really knows, all there is to say is that if you’ve ever watched any of their videos before, it’s kind of a repetitive pattern displayed across there platform and in almost every single video they post featuring their fluffy boys. So moral of the story is try not to beat around the bush to much, respect other people’s opinions, and enjoy their holy content!
My sister has Autism and is deaf. She's a picky eater and mostly eats noodles, bread, and crackers. I want to be able to help her with her nutrition and eating habits. Thanks for the tips guys, I appreciate them a lot!

Kyra Proulx it’s not talked about often, but it is an eating disorder. for me when it got really bad a year and a half ago, i had a really hard time walking and had a lot of organs failing to do their proper jobs. none of the doctors had put it together that it was because i had huge arfid symptoms.
it’s not talked about often, but it’s just as dangerous as other eating disorders.

The depression part really hit me hard. One of my tells that i'm doing better is also laughing out loud at shows and silly things I see. I realized this because during a very long depression, lasted years, my mom said that she missed when I used to laugh like crazy at the TV. "You used to laugh so loud at the TV I would hear you across the house".
I realized that when I was depressed I didn't laugh out loud at anything, and the other day I found myself laughing at loud at the TV and that made me feel very happy.

She always looks great! But what she says and does is more important, so I think it is more important to comment on that instead of on her looks.
I know you meant your comment in a 100% positive way, but in my opinion we should all talk more about what women do, and less about what they look like. I know it's the hard to ignore when someone is especially beautiful or ugly, but I think we should all make an effort to not let looks influence what we think of someone.

While watching this on my tv i heard loud meows and I said, “oh it’s Poki” ...turns out one of my rescued cats. Sorry Poki. Rescued cats have a very similar way of meowing. Good to see the 3 fur babies doing well
An ex-stray cat that one of my neighbors adopted comes around to my apartment occasionally, and she meows almost exactly the same.
My rescued baby is the same too! I can hear her through the front door when I get home, lol.
My favourite thing about their videos is listening to Rachel talk about interesting things while Jun shows us cats.

My doctor put me on probiotics and it makes a world of difference. Digestion works better, I've put some weight on, feel better. He said most important thing is number of strains in bottle. Here in US I've found up to 15 strains. I didn't know there was anything wrong with my digestion since it had been that way my whole life. You can ask your doctor about it and whether it's likely you'd gain weight.

My husband could not eat mushrooms, while I love them so for 23 years I always had to take mushrooms out of every recipe, making them separately for me and the kids. He could tell if even a speck of mushroom. He passed away young (45 yrs old). It's strange for me to be able to cook with mushrooms now. Just noticed thsi video was Feb 4, his birthday.

If Jun doesn't already have one, he needs a copy of Julia Child's book, Mastering the Art of French Cooking. It's a great book for learning how to make delicious French food at home.
I also vote for Jun receiving cookbooks by Julia Child and Simone Beck . Simone was Jullia Child's best friend and also an expert cook.
I remember a “pro tip “from one of Maqaroon’s miniature dollhouse videos was to use hot glue and craft glue together to make your process easier and quicker! Essentially, the faster-drying glue can help you hold the pieces together earlier on, and the slower-drying glue can provide the stability and strong hold you’d want in these projects. Loved your life updates,video and adorable cats as always! :D

It's not childish. I find I can't find anything to eat even though we went shopping yesterday. We used to shop for stuff for me but I would have to bin stuff because I couldn't eat them before the end of the week and I would turn down foods my boyfriend would eat because I think he just eats and doesn't think of the vitamins he needs in it. So at the same time I'm either eating the same thing every day or a variety of things I don't want because I don't know enough about vitamins even though I think I eat healthy and try to look for vitamins I need.
I'll remember about the mushrooms. Also fish oils and omega 3 are good for concentration and joints. That stuff Jun gets for ibs sounds right. Needs fibre and elcasimmunetas < spelling won't be right for this, my apologies.

1. Confront the food
2. Mix it with your favourite food
3. Stare at it intensely
4. Say to yourself "it tastes good" multiple times
5. CHEW IT FAST AND QUICKLY SWALLOW
6. Drink water
Yeah, honestly, I have a ton of respect for anyone who can talk openly and freely about these things from what surely is a place of great emotional vulnerability. That's the opposite of childish. If anything, it's very mature.
Yup. Grew up with ADD/ADHD, partially misdiagnosed for years. Turns out I have the less common variant for men, which is the Inattentive-Predominant type. Learned that a year ago. Learned about a week ago that I have also had near-Aphantasia for as long as I can remember (more technically correct would be 'acute dysphantasia') -- I can't intentionally visualize things in my "mind's eye". I get flashes of things in greyscale at best. I *know* what things look like, and spatial reasoning/awareness is fine for me. But yeah, that whole "imagine [x]" or "picture [x]"? Nope. Nothing.
I had no idea Rachel had depression like that. Not being able to laugh in the past absolutely broke my heart. But I'm so happy you're improving along with Jun being there and your kitties. I'm happy for you all :)

I was not expecting hearing Rachel’s struggles with food and health when I saw the title. But it was amazing to hear her story and it made me realize that people seem like they are having the perfect life could still have been through a lot and fought their own difficulties. I have anxiety disorder and still fighting it to live happier and her experience just encourages me so much. Also it’s so sweet that she married someone who really knows how to cook and loves cooking, and she could enjoy what Jun cooks now. ありがとうございます🥰

Honestly, when Rachel talked about ARFID it reminded me of the time I did a nursing placement at an eating disorder clinic. I've always known that eating isn't easy for some people. It isn't like just take a bite of a sandwich or finish the small biscuit, there's a lot of anxiety and fear when it comes to mealtimes. But ever since I did my mental health placement I realized and finally grasped how intense our relationship with food can be. Please take care of yourself and visit your GP if you are concerned or worried about anything.
Ikr and for some people it has to do with childhood trauma when their parents would tell them they have to finish their food so at some point it stopped being enjoyable
Yup, I worked in one for two years. I actually notice people's behaviors a mile away even if they don't. I commented on one of Rachel and Jun's channels forever ago but...it's a very delicate topic. Rachel is so brave to be a good example of honesty. You don't "cure" it, you work hard daily with choices.

I JUST learned about it! I dont have it but its like, why is it all ANOREXIA OR BULIMIA only education.
Not to compare this at all but it reminds me of how when i was young like 5-6 my school would make us eat quickly. That continued with multiple schools and so I’ve developed a habit of eating my food very quickly. Its amazing how food habits from childhood can really change how you eat later on.this isn’t as bad as ARFID but i think it needs to be taught that rushing children with their meals isn’t a good idea. It will lead to weight gain and bad eating habits sometimes anxiety about food feeling it might be taken from you if you don’t eat quickly.

As a biologist that has studied nutrition for a while I really enjoyed hearing you talk about the importance of eating nutritive meals!
Here's an interesting bit; mushrooms are, indeeed, a source of very interesting metabolites! Shiitake's scientific name (Lentinula edodes) comes from a glucan called lentinan which is actually helping out in cancer therapies because it has anti-tumoral properties.
There's a lot of mushrooms used in asian cuisine with amazing properties and they're being researched as we speak, which is mind-blowing having in mind that they've been in the diet of people from those parts of the world since ancient times.
And thats how western people start to make It expensive... Cuz they sell them as many labels organic and bla bla bla ... Here in my country mushroons were expensive now they are even more expensive cuz they are trendy

Watching Jun coddle the kitties and Rachel talk about health, research, nutrition, and life gives me so much joy. I started spironolactone because of one of your earlier videos, Rachel, and it’s really helped my skin! You mentioning the benefits of CBD & eating mushrooms (both the non-psychoactive kinds 🤣) has also provided me some new things to consider while dealing with poor health. Plus, watching a video so wholeheartedly directed by your genuine interests (Rachel going on nutrition tangents, Jun pressing the camera into Haku’s fur) lifts my spirits like no other. How can you not love watching people talk about and do whatever makes them happy?? Thanks for being yourselves, and for sharing all that you do with the rest of the world! 💖

Now I understand why it’s so hard to score on food with Rachel, both your hard work paid off and Rachel looks radiantly healthy. I hope Juan’s surgery goes well. I used to be terrified of surgeries, just to find out it’s really not that scary nor painful. The recovery part is when you have to be patient. I’ve had 3 big surgeries in my life, hopefully no more 😝😝. Best wishes on your endeavor on Junskitchen!

As a chemist/molecular biologist who has worked with BoNT/A-LC I did do a double take when Rachel said Clostridium

@@purpleneons the clostridium family has harmless bacteria, but also some of the most dangerous bacteria on the planet, for example botulism, anthrax, and a superbug called clostridium difficile. Wikipedia can probably tell you more.

Another sidenote: with your building a house idea, it made me think of Tokyo Llama's videos on abandoned houses around Japan. Maybe you could find an existing house that you could modify to be your own.
haha well the thing with the abandoned houses is that they’re all old and made with the typical older materials which are cheap and low quality. You’ll get basically no insulation, poor earthquake protection, single pane windows, almost certainly lots of cockroaches... Traditional Japanese houses are beautiful but they’re becoming more and more difficult to live in, especially with the summers getting hotter and hotter each year. The modern houses we can build are massive improvements in so many ways!

It’s been a few years since this video was posted, but I wanted to come back to it and thank you for being open about ARFID and your pickiness issues. I’ve been super picky my whole life and it’s only been in the last few years that it’s started being something I can explain to people, and just this year two different people have mentioned ARFID to me in that context. It’s thanks to this video that I know what it is! And Rachel’s journey makes me feel hopeful about learning to like more foods as well.
