Uhhhh so this was filmed in December
Meant to upload it sooner but we had a few setbacks with moving (Jun got the flu, I threw out my back, and then Jun's grandfather--the first person in Jun's family to approve our marriage and accept me into the family--passed away). It's been an exhausting and very emotion-filled couple weeks, but we're doing well. I'm editing the footage we did film right now so we'll be caught up soon!

Hi Rachel and Jun,
My partner of 7 years passed away today at the age of 30.
One of our most favourite things to do was watch every single one of your videos.
He had such a love for Nagi, Haku, Poki and both of you.
He would always ask me everyday if a new Rachel and Jun and their cats video has been uploaded, but today I can't tell him his favourite type of video had been uploaded (he loved watching you guys open packages)
He was so genuinely interested in your lives I remember a few weeks ago he asked me "I wonder how Rachel's medical results are"
He was such a kind and loving person and now I can't watch one of your videos without tearing like a bloody waterfall.
I ask you two, please hold each other tight and never take for granted each others quirks.

A small comment regarding stroke order- if you're using a denshi jisho (electronic dictionary) for looking up kanji, stroke order is the most important thing. If you get the stroke order wrong, you cannot look up the kanji. I studied Japanese at university (in the Netherlands) and a couple of people failed their Japanese texts exam due to this issue. They couldn't find any of the kanji in the text because they paid no attention to stroke order during our kanji classes.
Stroke order is the worst, because when it comes to actually writing the Kanji in a perhaps "less formal" setting than a class/exam, stroke order hardly (in my experience, since I've only visited Japan, not lived or worked there) seems to matter as much, I screw up so many times with stroke order, so I gave up actually "studying" it in classes and just learned by myself and from my Japanese friend, xP
@@RoanNebunescu yea for me it's the exact opposite. The stroke order helps me remember the kanji so much better than without. I guess it depends on how you learn and use your kanji.
Yep, stroke order saves lives, I can't look kanji up by radicals for the life of mine, so stroke order is my only saviour. And besides, it's easier to get kanji in your muscle memory when you're writing them consistently every time. When I took up hindi and everyone started writing devanagari characters, I've been so lost without my precious stroke order, I was afraid to write anything at all. It felt like a crime. :D
@@FannyMMOs I suppose it might just be different for me because I never actually "studied"it as such, and whilst I've spent time in Japan, I'm not living there nor am I using Japanese a lot, and if I do, it's spoken. Idk, I can see why stroke order is important to many people but it just irritated me when I did try to study in a proper class. (no disrespect to the language, of course!)

For the person that asked about slippers in places in Japan this comment is for you. The tips for where you need to wear slippers is pretty easy. Most of the time if a place has a landing as soon as you walk in before the main floor, your more then likely to have to put on slippers. My last trip in 2016 the only place I had to put on slippers or wear socks was Himeji Castle. I wore socks and was fine. I went from Chiba to Nagasaki and pretty much everywhere in between on the main island and I was okay without slippers. Plus I have size 15 shoes, and the largest size I found was a Japanese 12 and that's about a 10½ american size. Just a tip for packing for your trip, pack light, if you plain on going, because traveling through Japan you don't want to carry a bunch of stuff if your going from City to City. Just pick places that have a laundry to wash you clothes. For two weeks in spring I packed, 1 beach towel, a small first aid kit, a small backpack, 2 shirts, 3 t-shirts, 4 undergarments, 4 pairs socks, 2 pairs of shorts, 2 jeans, hiking boots/trainers and the clothes and nice shoes I wore on the plane. Each place I stayed at had laundry I washed my clothes. At the end of the night every couple days I wash my clothes, go out grab a bite to eat or plain the next day travels in the room and the laundry was done. Nice thing about washing machines in Japan is a lot of them also dry your clothes after they wash them. Also a tablet or a small laptop and a camera is all you need. Mostly every place you stay in Japan supplies toiletries. I pack one bag and I always come home with 2 bags. Hope this helps.

Oh my gosh, when you opened the package from Australia I almost screamed with joy because I absolutely love it when youtubers react to Australian foods. So yes Smiths chips are pretty much like Lays, also if you guys ever try Vegemite spread it thinly over buttered bread, its really annoying when people put a huge spoonful in their mouths and then declare that they hate it because it's so overwhelming, you need a true experience.
