    I saw you the other week at the Queensland airport gate as I was heading back to Melbourne. I saw your face and thought I know you from somewhere, then I realised your videos helped me install my gutter on my verandah a few weeks before. Thanks heaps for your video really helped me immensely and the gutter looks pretty good and functions 👍🤘🙏

    Thank you so much for taking the time and generously sharing this most valuable instructions. Opened the gutter clips this morning and freaked out. Had no idea what the spike thing was that was sticking up, nor how the gutter clips were fitted. Can't get a plumber in our area for love nor money. Been waiting 41/2 months already. After viewing you video I now have the courage and skills to have a go myself. Here's hoping I get it right.

    Excellent series of tutorial style vids. Straightforward and to the point.
    How many times do I need to watch them before I get a qualification as a "Roofer/Gutterer" ? I paid a bunch of clowns, who were supposedly trade qualifed, and certified, and insured, and yeah yeah sure Ted leave the money on the fridge a sh...tload of dollars to come and totally screw up my guttering 18 months ago, and I reckon if they had watched these vids even once I would have a job that is only half as bad.
    I am in the process of working out what I need to redo the job. It can't be so hard that 5G of materials would cost 11 to fit, even with scaff.

    Hi Darren,
    Thank you for the instruction video, well explained and easy to understand.
    I'm looking at replacing my old Box gutter to my 60 + years old house.
    this type gutter in no longer available /made.
    After thoroughly inspected , I believe the I will need to remove the existing box gutter and add either a timber facia or Colorbond facia board before installing new gutter.
    Would you have any tips you can share of how to tackle this project?

    Great video. I noticed there is a gap between the back of the gutter and the facia due to the clips. We have water flowing between ours due to a short drip line. Any advice on how to prevent it please? Thanks!

    • @alexouretski115
      @alexouretski115 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In Australia the attitude towards craftsmanship seems to be “she’ll be right mate” - nobody seems to give a flying toss about details like water dripping between the fascia and the gutter. 🤷‍♂️ Ideally you would not use those crappy clips and put a drip edge / flashing on top of the fascia board, but most tradies don’t care and just repeat what everyone else is doing (badly).

    What happens when your gutter overflow for what ever reason and this does happen. What happens then when the gutters are at the top of the fascia ??????

    • @metalroofing7210
      @metalroofing7210 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The gutter which I have used has the overflow slots cut into it. It is a requirement in Victoria that all licensed plumbers only use guttering which has these overflow slots cut into it.

    • @sudnut
      @sudnut 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly, it's a problem. That's why gutters should not be too high on the fascia. No higher than the angle of water flowing off the tile or sheet. This also allows for easier nailing or screwing to the fascia when installing and then easier gutter cleaning once the system is in use. The only possible downside is the slightly larger gap but the benefits outweigh this. Great video, very well explained.

    • @metalroofing7210
      @metalroofing7210 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dan. I would still only use one length of guttering, the guttering will bend to suit this small amount of fall but you will need to use some screws through the back of the gutter to hold it in place

  • @IndustrialCutsCross
    @IndustrialCutsCross ปีที่แล้ว

    Still using these excellent instructions. Question: as the quad gutter has a shorter back than front and I don’t have slots won’t the water seep down the back between the fascia? I can’t guarantee there won’t be a downpour and overflow. What would you do in this situation?

    • @blueneet84
      @blueneet84 ปีที่แล้ว

      Add spacers between the gutter and fascia. Ensure the outer gutter height is lower than the fascia. Cut an overflow section out at the end. Add a rainhead. Replace the gutters to have overflow slots. Those are your options.

    • @IndustrialCutsCross
      @IndustrialCutsCross ปีที่แล้ว

      @@blueneet84 thanks Andrew. As I’m only installing the gutters now I’ll go with the spacers portion. I’ve not seen spacers, any links to an example material?

    • @blueneet84
      @blueneet84 ปีที่แล้ว

      @IndustrialCutsandCrossfades it depends where you're located. Look up gutter spacer and see what comes up. Stratco has some. Lysaght has some. They aren't the most common solution. Queensland in Australia has just made them mandatory.

  • @kevinaldcroft6291
    @kevinaldcroft6291 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I have a join in the middle of my guttering (9 mtr approx) which has now become the low point in the gutter. Is it better to replace the guttering with one piece or would putting some screws or extra clips on the gutter be the best option to iron out the low point?

    • @metalroofing7210
      @metalroofing7210 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kevin,
      Thanks for your message. It all depends on how much of a low point it has become. If it is only slight then you could re do the join, making sure you use plenty of silicone between the two pieces and rivet it up. Then lift the gutter up a little bit and put a screw through the back it to fix the dip.
      If the drop is to much then you will need to remove the gutter and re do the clips in the correct line 🤙

    Could gutter be lower?
    Thinking of keeping it clean in treed area.

    • @metalroofing7210
      @metalroofing7210 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Karin,
      Yes you can have the gutter installed a little bit lower than I have done. I like to keep it fairly high because I don’t like to see the bottom edge of the roofing. Only issue you may have if you keep it to low is that in the event of a heavy downpour the water could go over the top of the gutter. Also go with the external gutter clips to make it easier to clean the gutters out

    • @metalroofing7210
      @metalroofing7210 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      C Chen. Hi guy’s. If it is only a couple of the clips and you don’t want to have to remove the gutter, then you could just hold the gutter in the correct position and put a couple of roofing screws through the back of the gutter and into the facia. This should do the trick. Just make sure to pre drill a pilot hole first, this will make it allot easier 😀👍Daz

    Great video. When replacing guttering with a roof that is already installed is it possible to get it close enough up under the edge of the corrugated roof?

    • @metalroofing7210
      @metalroofing7210 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Benjamin. It is possible, you just need to come down about 20 to 30 mm lower than you normally would. Unless it is a tiled roof which you can push the tiles up out of your way. Make sure to wear some gloves so you don’t cut your hands on the bottom edge of the roof sheets. 😀 good luck. Daz

    Fantastic job! I was just wondering... with the brackets going along the stringline, would I angle the brackets with the slight fall of the gutter? So for example, if you have that 20mm drop and the stringline is now on a slope, would I angle the bracket so that the bottom of the bracket is at the same angle as the string line? if that makes sense?
