Absolutely love your videos, helped me a lot. But as a novice I have to say, where you used the hammer twice to clip the gutters together, I noticed another video of a guy who just connected the bead first and rolled it in until it clicked. He just cut 3-5 mm 60mm long off bead and hook (front and back), so simple. Hope that made sense.
At 2.27 you said "obviously you are going to be joining them while they're up on the fascia with all the clips on". I just don't follow. Do you do all this after you put the 2 pieces on the fascia? Can someone help me out here please?
Thank you! Im putting a gutter on my goat house and wasnt sure how to go about joining the two pieces I purchased. The noise in the background was a bit distracting but I just turned the sound off and watched.
You’d be better running your two beads of silicon under the edges before joining. Not just one and smearing the other on top. Ive always wondered about if water gets in between which it can from the top lip if it cant get out because of your two beads, is that a rust trap? Is it better just doing say a 20mm join and filling the whole joint with silicon? Theres no air or rust gap then. But maybe weaker joint, but you just put the joint near a bracket. Not sure if theres any guides or rules to this.
OK, so it's not really necessary then to rivet the internal overlap end (apart from one at the side)? Just riveting the external overlap end does look tidier.
Here are the links to the rivets and also the drill bit: 😀 www.metalroofingonline.com.au/products/magnetic-hex-socket-drill-bit/ www.metalroofingonline.com.au/products/colorbond-pop-rivets/
Yeah but how the hell do you join it using this process when you're attaching two ends together on internal clips. Can you just hitch and unhitch the quad gutter from the clips?
Is there a trick to getting the gutter to sit and stay in the internal clips? Having troubles with the gutter popping back out from the underside of the clips
Ben Jaworski. Great question Ben. It’s a good idea to put a screw through the back of the gutter and into the fascia around every 2 metres, to prevent the gutter from coming off the clips 😃👍 Daz
I think the rivets in the join are unnecessary and can be a source of leak when silicon wears out in a couple of years. I would prefer an external bracket that wraps around on the outside and hold the joint in place.
What a pleasure to watch a true professional ply his trade while imparting his knowledge and wisdom in such an easy manner. Thank You.

Matt Estreich Thanks Matt 😃
Thanks guys. Great to see measurements and products that I use in Australia. Makes it easier to follow for me. Keep up the great work.
Good to clean the excess silicone off with some turps. The painter will be happy 😀

can you join gutters when they are on the clips? I have 12mtr gutters but 2 lengths at 6.2 and a 6mtr length.
Did you work this out mate? I have exactly the same issue!

Great instructional vid
Thanks guys. ;)

Thanks so you dont need to pop rivet the gutter join that is closest to the facia ?
Sir Dino. Hi there. If you want to put extra rivets through the back of the gutter and into the fascia then that’s a good idea 😊
If you’re gutter isn’t long enough to have 100 mm overlap can you use a sleeve ?? And how would you do it??
Mo Naj a sleeve would work. Flat steel and bend to the shape of the inside of the gutter - allow for enough lap. Best of luck
Great help.

great guys
joan & peter Vincent so glad we could help!
Personally I cut roughly 10mm from the end of the roll on the lip and go along 100mm. Clips in nice and it doesn’t ramp up. Good video though.

This is cool.

I did that it works fine, this is overkill
Still need to overlap
what is attachment on your impact driver your using drill the rivet holes?
Laurence Hardy. Hi Laurence, I do not know the name of this piece but I’m sure they would know what you are after at your local total tools 😊
what's the difference between guad gutter and the regular?
Khanh Ly it is basically the same when joining most gutters.
What size of rivet did you use?
flylice2x. Size AS4-3 which is a standard size rivet in the roofing industry 👍
