  • TEAM TALK: THE BEST ALL-AROUND FISHING BOAT!!! (ULTIMATE DAD BOAT)
It's almost springtime in Wisconsin and the perch and walleye are biting. That got us to thinking "What is the best all-around fishing boat?" A boat you can catch bass in on the weekends and a boat you can take the family out in. Oddly enough while we were thinking of what the perfect boat would be a Lund 1875 Pro Guide with a Big Tiller 90hp Merc rolled into the shop. WE'VE FOUND IT! Big HP Big Tiller open concept 18-20ft tin rigs are probably going to be the best all-around fishing/family boat. Comment below what y'all think and if you're running one of these rigs.

I love my Lund 1875 Bass. Tall decks for fishing, deep cockpit for kids, comfortable old man chairs and flip up seats for company. 60 mph with the 200. Great boat.

This "DAD" has the 18' alumacraft competitor. I was at a boat show, and they're all the same boat. I got wave wackers, vantage, terrova, radio, cover, and helix 10 for cheaper than a stock Lund.

I just bought a Lund 1875 Impact XS. Wife, kid, dog, friends all want a sports top, side curtains, plenty of room, windshield, safety, catch fish and ski. Agree, these boats are going to be very popular moving forward. Very light weight too, easy to tow and can reach 50mph with a 150hp. Sips gas.

I had the alumacraft 185 comp tiller with 90 sho decent boat. Fished some walleye tournaments. Loved having the kids in front of me where I could see them. Only really have 2 complaints. Carpet came loose everywhere and the boat was awful in the wind. Now have the pro-v 2075 bass which I consider a multi species boat also. I’ll let you know how the pro-v bass holds up and fishes

Love the videos! I watch them all! But I think the ultimate do everything dad boat is .. a nice aluminum full windshield 17’6” fish and ski boat. I have a 2002 princecraft pro sport 176 with a 02 mercury (yamaha) 115 four stroke efi.. it’s quite, sips fuel, still hits over 40 mph, witch is a great size for the the body of water that I live on witch is the ottawa river up north in Ontario. I’m that boat guy the one that has lots of random boats of all shapes and sizes lovish and enjoy working on all them at times lol , huge fan of the suzuki and Yamahas, I’m the guy that enjoys watching these kinds of videos!! Keep up the good work!!

Stepping from a 33 year old 16-1/2' Alumacraft to a brand new 17'-10" Lund this year. Alumacraft is still solid after all these years but wife wanted a little bigger boat for grandkids and I wanted a FourStroke motor because they are so much quieter.

Accurate evaluation imo. I went through this process in 2020 it came down to the Alumacraft competitor 185 and the Lund Pro Guide. I gave up on the Crestliner because I couldn’t get it packaged with a Yamaha where I’m at. So I went to a dealer that sold both Lund and Alumacraft and I had both boats sitting right next to each other. I asked the dealers both long time customers why pay 5k for the Lund? They said it basically comes down to the name. Lund has slightly better fit and finish but slightly. The showed me that the trailers were basically identical one with post load guides which I prefer (Alumacraft) and the other with Roller Guides (Lund) both ShoreLandr identical models. The Lund trailer was a $1000 more at the time. So I came to the same conclusion as you and went with the Alumacraft.

I’ve been shopping Lund’s 1875 PG against Alumacraft’s 185 Comp Tiller for years. Finally bought a Lund as the I felt the layout is better specifically around the rear live well and front pedestals.
Alumacraft at the dealer has gaps between the walls and floor.
When I bought they were the same price so no brainer on going with the Lund

I love my 21 A/C competitor 205! I was on the fence between the full windshield and the side console. I opted for the sport (full windshield) I just didn’t like the idea of the tiller. Regardless the all aluminum transom (on any brand) is unbeatable imop. I also liked you could get any motor you wanted. I got a merc 250.

Great video. I'm in the market for a newer, bigger boat and even though bass boats are awesome, they're just not roomy enough or versatile enough for me and my type of fishing. I sometimes have the family out, sometimes im in a lake freshwater fishing, out in the bay saltwater fishing, or even crabbing, so I need versatility. I was looking at the alumacraft 195 or lund 1875 pro guide....used of course.

I had a 2018 lund 1775pro guide w/90big tiller, absolutely loved it very wide, stable it’s a multi fishing machine. The boat literally is a dance floor. I sold it and got a 2022 lund 1875 renegade for the console and no more carpet plus better seating configuration with the redesign renegade. But the pro guide is definitely a very nice boat indeed.

Thanks I am leaning Lund but Crestliner and Ranger are in the mix I am thinking 1850 but with a Side Console with 150hp to handle big water but with a big casting deck. I wish the Lund Pro V came in a Side Console as I don’t want a windshield. What makes Me lean Lund is resale.

Man… I’m always right ahead of the curve, had a 2018 G3 with a 80/115 jet, sold it in 2021 because we had a baby… 2022 I bought a 2022 Alumacraft 185FSX with a 150 ProXS, I wanted a walk through windshield. But we did put the car seat in the boat and got it as a family boat. It’s not bad. Plus I can fish St Clair more comfortable in that than a bass boat on rough days.

Great video overall, but $43 K for an 18' aluminum boat is nothing short of lunacy!!!
Aluminum cracks over time. It even happens to "quality" aluminum wheels for cars over time. And really??!?!… Tiller??!??!? For that kind of money they could at least include a decent mechanical steering system. There's no excuse for not including one at these absurd prices.
$63 K is even more insane!!!
Aluminum boats have always been the ECONOMICAL alternative to fiberglass boats and none of these are even close to economical.
I wish you'd call some of these companies out for overcharging as outrageously as they do and then skimp out and leave you with a Tiller?!?? Oh joy!… Not!

40 years of fishing and hunting and guiding in my Lunds, two kids conceived on them and shitwell...well used. Hate cats but labs all over em. As with all newer ones of anything quality has suffered. My clients still won't believe me when I tell them my pro v tiller is near 30 in age and has had 3 motors and two floors done over and guess it age initially as 5-7 years old, having a new 4 stroke 200 hanging on a rock solid transom help the looks.
guess it like a boob job and face lift on a 45 year old, makes em look younger.
keep up the honest injun jive lovin it

Lund had a lot of issues with transoms also.

I’m glad I bought my Lund 2075 pro v bass xs in 2019 for $55k fully loaded with a 250 pro xs ultrex and hummingbird electronics. Now they are out of reach!

Some states require a steering wheel for bass tournaments

I'd go alumacraft cause I believe you can get Suzuki motors and the bow doesn't cave in like Lund. So apparently a windshield must cost over $20k 🤣

What about seaark boats I feel like they may be a good comparison to Lund certainly better than alumacraft

A tiller is great if you love breathing exhaust fumes. Been there done that, no thanks.

No thanks I'll stay with with a steering wheel and those prices screw that

I love my 1995 1775 Pro V Dlx with the Johnson 150 and 15 kicker... bought it brand new... had to replace the rotted wood transom, rotted wood decking... Lund and Crestliner both made by Brunswick Corporation New York Mills, MN... I took my Lund up to New York Mills to have them fix the transom for $1500. my dealer wanted $3,000. for the rotted transom. I asked them why don't they use something that won't rot out in the transom... So dumb... now I see that Lund is now using a synthetic product in the transom so that it won't rot... Now they figure it out...

This is my twenty second year of running a lund big tiller. Tillers are not for everyone. You better not mind getting wet and when the mercury drops ( not the motor , they do suck) it's a very cold ride. Why do I buy Lund? Best resale value.

Important to note it’s much easier to get the alumacraft with an outboard other than the mercury

Dosnt seem to bad on pricing till you convert to Canadian currency lol. Wish they made cheaper boats for us less fortunate. But guess there is always a dock lol. Just got my boating license but wow boats are more then a car lol
