oh you cannot understand the joy and memories that bubbled up when you put your foot down a little and that cowl induction opened up! I had a 1970 SS396 4-speed in 1987 when I was in high school .. pretty much the same color as this one!
That car is identical to the car my uncle restored when I was a kid except his had a 4spd!!! That car started my 70 Chevelle problem that I have today! He did it in the 80's when you could restore them cheap. Thank you for this video today...just seeing that cowl induction open up made me 10 years old again!
In 1984 by dad bought a 70 SS396 Chevelle. It was gold with a black bucket seat interior. I was 16 and had a 69 GTO at the time. For two cars so close under the skin they couldn't have been more different to drive. I wish he had kept it but in his long standing habit of getting something cool, working on it, losing interest and then selling it, he sold the Chevelle in '86. I think he made $500 on it so he was probably pretty happy. I still have my GTO😁
You do know that the 1970 Chevelle took its styling for the 1968 GTO . Your 1969 GTO was the 2nd year for that style, and the 400 in you GTO vs. the 402 in the 396 Chevelle would depend on which 400 was in the GTO, a RAIII or RA IV, or a stand 400.
@@tomcherry7029 I'm not sure what you are saying. All GM A Bodies received a new design in 1968 and all of them shared common styling as was the standard for GM since the introduction in '61 ('64 for the Chevelle). I don't see any styling on the '70 Chevelle to suggest it was copying the '68/'69 GTO anymore than the '68/'69 Chevelle did. Chrome bumpers, open grill and as a matter of fact the Chevelle lost it's front header panel in 1970 going to a hood that extended all the way over the grill which further differentiated it from GTO styling. Now a 1970 GS, you might make a case that a '70 Chevelle uses it's styling or vice versa but not a GTO of any year. As far as the engine in my GTO by 1984 it was a built 455 out of a '71 Grand Prix but virtually none of it was stock. The difference in driving experience I was referring to was just the overall interior, the look over the hood and fenders and the power band on the 402 was quite different. It was stock but still lacked the low end of the Pontiac.
I wish i could have seen all the muscle cars in the late 60s early 70s brand new on the car lots and ppl driving them. Id love to see chevelle ss on show room, Hemi challengers and cudas on the lots would have been a site to see! I love the original survivor cars and the stories and history that goes with them
Sweet car. I love that Fathom Blue with white top. My 70 Monte Carlo was originally that same color combo. I had the vinyl top taken off years ago and now it's all Fathom blue. I should have had the top painted white and kept the vinyl top trim on it.
You should turn this into a music video. It could easily be Foghat "Slow Ride". I'm not saying the car is slow I'm saying that driving a fast car like that slowly is what I imagine when I hear the song Slow Ride -- take it easy...
@tipetu could be a bad A/C pressure switch of a bad orifice tube, not always low charge. It would also depend on what type of refrigerant, stock R-12 or was it upgraded to R-134a
Wow, that was exciting! Five minutes of riding around side streets and never revving the engine over 1,500 rpm. May as well have been riding around in a subaru impreza. What a waste of time!
I’m the winner , of this car, just get a hold of me ,,i Win the 472 big block number on the likes for this vlog , ok thanks , take care of my car, ok praise Jesus Christ grace amen thanks BigAl California

Patrick, imagine driving one of these NEW of the lot years ago!!!
This is my dream chevelle color combo. Fathom Blue with a white gut.
that's what i have. original LS6/M22 car, with 4:88 gearz. i bought it in 1981, stored it away, it's still there. dormant for 43 years.
About as beautiful as a car can get. No exotic could top this beauty. And the sound is auto symphony. Great video
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing the ride.

Beautiful SS. In '80 I had a 396 4 speed 70 gold with black stripes white bench and the same dash. Sure wish I would've kept it.
Beautiful car! Excellent color combo!
Nice like the Fathom Blue and White combo!
It’s good to see them on the road instead of a garage every once in a while
Thanks for taking us along Patrick.
That’s a sharp looking car. Sounds good too. 👍😎🇺🇸
Thank you for your continued video sharing, awesome rides!
Wow, what a beautiful beast!
Very nice Chevelle and thanks for the test drive
She’s a beauty Clark 😂😎👍😁🇺🇸
What a great looking car!
First! White vinyl top makes them look very clean - but I still usually prefer black. Excellent car!!!!!
First? That’s all you have to live for? You sound like a 12 year old girl.

It s gorgeous wow. I never cared for the white but this is nice!
That is a cool car for sure.
great video.
BEAUTIFUL that is all. 🍻
BEAUTY!
Wow, such a rare color combo, AND a column shift, love it! What makes it idle like that? Kind of sounds like a blower idle.
Very pretty Chevelle
Always better with the sound of the Rock Crusher “M22” 4speed
Pretty car
So cool!!!
Love fathom blue.. How many were made with a white interior & top??.
PGN is the Chevelle God. 🙇🏻♂️
So nice.........
Same color as mine but mine had a ls5.454 and a blue hardtop
It hurts my motor to go so slow, damn this traffic jam--James Taylor
Love it
Couldn't find anywhere to open it up a bit?
Gorgeous ride. Watch out for the DFW screwballs in their Teslas.
is this for sale??
Nice
Surging?
Automatic on the column and no tach. Interesting.
🤗👍
Fathom Blue
Wish I was a millionaire, my dream car
GIVE IT GAS, DUDE!

try hitting the thing called the gas pedal next time
06:12 Cars on the back are getting pissed for taking up all the lanes and going so slow.
Hellyeah
Why is the idle hunting so much?
The A/C compressor is “short cycling “. You can hear the A/C clutch kicking in and out when he is doing the walk around.
@@emsguy486 Low on refrigerant then? It should not go on and off at that frequency?
@tipetu could be a bad A/C pressure switch of a bad orifice tube, not always low charge. It would also depend on what type of refrigerant, stock R-12 or was it upgraded to R-134a
Nice
