- INSPECTED AND ENDORSED. Factory triple green with 796 bucket seat trim 1970 SS454 LS5 M40 3.31 positraction. Matching CRQ engine block not currently in the car and original CRV rear axle. Not original TH400. Built the 4th week of June 1970 at the Arlington, TX assembly plant. A true Texas car been in Texas it’s entire life. No hit body virtually mint rust free all original body panels. The car currently has a very strong running 396/402 engine. An excellent true 1970 SS454 muscle car.
Love seeing the 70 chevelles. Thank you for what you do.
Even though I'm not and likely never will be a buyer for this car, it's definitely a beautiful one.
I'm perfectly happy with my 3rd week of December 1969 built Malibu. I bought it for $450 as a work beater in 1989 and have restored/upgraded it over the last 30+ years. It was originally Tuxedo Black with a Saddle, bench seat interior and powered by a 307/TH-350...it also had non-power, 4 wheel drum brakes! It's been repainted in Tuxedo Black and now has a black, bucket seat/console interior, and, since it's been a Northwest Ohio car since new, a lot of replacement sheet metal. It also now has a hot 406 small block/TH-350 and 9" Ford rear. I did install a N.O.S. "Power Dome" hood but NO SS emblems. Yes, I've also upgraded to power, 4 wheel disc brakes. I've never tried to pass it off as an original SS because it's not! As I said earlier, I'm perfectly happy with it because it's mine lol!
Nice car!!! I WANT MINE BACK!!!! LS5, Fathom blue, white stripes, black interior, 4 speed. Sold it in 1980. WHAT A MISTAKE!!!!
Me too, mine I bought in 1975 , fathom blue white stripes, pearl white interior,4 speed Hurst shifter with the rock crusher trany 4:11 gears ,ls 5 with air and power windows 😭😭😭
I currently own a 1970 Chevelle. Forest Green w/white stripes L34 4spd black bench seat interior. Bought it in 1998 I'm the 4th caretaker. The Forest Green color caught my eye. Although I really fancy Cranberry Red or any other color that is it ,it's not Cranberry Red witch is the most popular choice and for good reason. I wasn't changing the orginal color to fit in.
That is a beautiful example of a 70 SS. Thank you Patrick!!
I was a Ford guy growing up but i always loved these SS454 s
I love this color combination
not a desirable color
@@edwardalamo2507 but it's mostly original
I’ve always liked this color. I realize I’m in the minority. Looks great on ‘69 Z/28 too.
PGN. I love all your videos!!! Thank you 😊😊😊
Beautiful car. Great video Patrick
For some reason, I like the color green on cars, especially muscle cars. Growing up on the early 70s these colors were popular and look amazing on this Chevelle with white stripes!
Beautiful car..thanks Patrick
BEST LABOR DAY GIFT EVER! Thanks PGN!
Awesome CAR!!
I Found a 70 triple green Spt. COUPE. Hard Top.. born with a 350 and looked exactly like this one , but it been painted silver.
Thanks PGN.
Thank you
I really like the green. It has to be rare car, green, 454 with A/C. Thanks Patrick.
Really nice find Patrick.
I'm in Texas, and I want to view this car in person. It can use some cleaning up and tweaking, but it is a nice survivor. Love the green exterior.
bring it!
Look at the size of that AC compressor, it looks like it would need a big block engine to drive it. I loved this car interior, especially the horse shoe transmission selector, buckets, center console and of course the AC, that being a Texas car you would need that AC. I would take that LS5 engine to a good engine shop and have it torn down and acid dipped, totally rebuild it and put it back in, with a few modifications upping the hp on it.
The good old Harrison A6 compressor is still, in my opinion, the best A/C compressor ever made. Originally used on GM cars as early as the 1950's, it was used on every GM model in the 1960's and 1970's from muscle cars to pick up trucks and of course Cadillacs and other luxury models. It was used up into the very early 1980's on larger vehicles like motor homes. Lincoln and Imperial used it on some models as wells on lesser Ford and Chrysler models on certain years. It has 6 pistons as opposed to 2 on most of the V and inline style compressors that were also common. As a result it is very efficient at lower rpms and that translates to better cooling in slow driving like bumper to bumper traffic. Unfortunately, as you so accurately pointed out, the shear enormous size means it is very heavy and that just didn't work well in the downsizing from the 1980's on up!!!
@@1967davethewave the A6 was a high quality unit indeed!
same paint color as my 70!!!! awesome.
Great looking car 👍🇺🇸
Great job
Nice car! Reasonable listing price in today's current market. Being the biggest question in everyone's mind,,,,, if I was selling the same deal with my Chevelle, I would certainly have a reputable machine shop do an in depth inspection on that block to identify conditions or flaws. Not much of a big deal to spend a few bucks to prove it's a good block and not an anchor or mailbox post holder, but that's just me. Hope it's in good shape though.
Very nice.
Reminds me of the forest green Chevelle you inspected sitting outside in Oklahoma in 2018
Awesome 👏🏻
I have a 71 SS 454 # matching 4speed with build sheet all original never been apart never been out of kc mo.
I'm definitely not a fan of green, but, to me an original cherry panel car is worth it's weight in gold! And the #'s matching block is the icing on the cake!
Literally my dream car my favorite color forest green and I'm from Texas to
He said that the owner bought it in 1983. I'll bet he got it for $3000 dollars tops. He was 80 thousand dollars. That car is his retirement fund after 40 years of ownership. But it is a really clean body
Great car.
As always, Thanks Patrick 🙂 Absolutely Gorgeous Car!!❤
Nice!!!!!!!!
And gals. I'd love to own one of these someday.
Wow!.... She's a Beauty
Almost looks Tuxedo Black.
It's in the shade of course.
You've shown many 70' SS Chevelles, but this one makes me forget the rest, Absolutely spectacular.
It's got me a little depressed now, only because I can't buy it, I'd give him 100k for it that's how much it's my life long dream car. Forest Green, White stripes, it's perfect, AC too. A 396 (402) doesn't hurt it at all to me.
Thanks, Patrick, for the education. So its not an issue that the engine block was stamped outside 7 months previous to car build? That's rhe rule of thumb we use in NCRS judging.
Thank you Patrick, I love that you know your stuff and do these authentication videos When I get the funds I will be buying a car you authenticate thank you sir good work!
nice car.
The only way to make that BAD ASS CHEVELLE SS would be to put back in the 454 and parked in MY driveway.👍👍👍
Nice!
If I were going to pay $80k for an original Muscle Car, this would be it. This thing is O rigionsl front to back. I presume most systems still work. Fair price for this quality condition...Our family had a 1970 Impala with the 454 and air conditioning. I don't know why because it ran well but it seemed so sluggish. The a/c was so demanding that most had a choice, performance or comfort, not both. Great car.
You must be his business partner.....
@@williamlane9140 If I was his business partner he wouldn't be selling this car in this economy. Never...
Car not original at all
@@brianlazarich7397 You're full of shit n vinegar but u don't know much about cars or the man who just explained why it was so original. Probably THE most qualified in the biz...so, I respectfully don't respect your backyard opinion...
Not original
Love Super Sport Chevelles, and Camaros, in dark green with white stripes! I prefer it without the vinyl top too.
Why endorse as a numbers matching car if the trans is missing? Your expertise is unmatched! No question!!
Cause someone will find the right trans and stamp it and boom, matching numbers.
It's everything I would ever want in a car as far as being from Texas and rust free.. BUT the color is not for me! Hopefully, somebody wants triple green?! Nice car! Enjoy your videos!
🇨🇱🇨🇱 This just might be my personal favorite
Am I missing something? How is it triple green without a vinyl top?
If you listen to Patrick, it was born with a green vinyl top but doesn't have it now.
missed that thanks@@danjarrell5040
A lot of stuff doesn’t add up. Not matching numbers when the engine is clearly not in it and not correct transmission. Frankenstein not all original as presented.
L34 is on the come up
💚💚💚
After watching all these PGN videos, I get excited every time I see a Chevelle.
Nice car just wondering why it doesn't have the original 454 in it would add more value
It’s sitting next to it so that’s all you need to increase the value
Timepeace !
PGN, I would posit the theory that the car is "partial numbers matching" and not numbers matching. You content that the engine block ONLY makes a car technically numbers matching. I agree that the block is the primary item that makes a car numbers matching. However, I would contend that the transmission is also required. Given that the VIN is stamped on the transmission as well. And even a date code correct code axle is also required. Maybe that is the difference between the Chevy guys and the rest of the numbers matching community. The GM brands, Ford and Mopar experts will also have some issue with PGN's opinon.
Hard to keep a original 50 year old automatic transmission in place, this car most likely lost the original tranny from it's first owner
@@oveidasinclair982That's what makes numbers matching worth more, it's harder to do.
But automatic transmissions lasting 50+ years, my dad had a 70 Nova SS and he said that needed changing out in 1976, clutch plates were all shot.@@Flussig1
my stable of cars all have original engine, transmission and rear axle. I know this is the exception rather than the rule but that is numbers matching.
I spent 6 years looking for correct code transmission for a friends car so that he can have a code correct drivetrain, but not numbers matching. @@oveidasinclair982
@@oveidasinclair982 In actuality it didn't need changing out at all, it could have simply been rebuilt, thereby preserving the numbers matching original case. Never let anybody swap out an original trans if all it needs is clutches.
I've been rebuilding transmissions for over 40 years and haven't had to change a case yet.
Don’t say 100% percent original,valve covers,inner fenders,etc….there’s a lot replaced over the years.but it’s a beautiful car no doubt about it.
Are the original heads in the car or are they missing?
My 1970 LS5 is in similar condition. Not a A/C car and is auto without console. Fathom blue with white stripes. $85K would certainly be in the ballpark for mine.
Might need to consider letting it go.
This car is beautiful, but what makes it triple green?
Hey I know of a 1965 Malibu SS in Texas you should go take a look at
Being in Texas all its life and having all original sheet metal, wonder why the inner fenders wells where replaced.
Maybe personal choice?
Hellyeah
I have a triple green 70 that needs authentication. Been working on it since 92.
Cool video how come the door panels say Malibu my 1970 ss 454 has ss on the door panels.
They were both installed on SS cars. Just depended on available parts on the assembly line. My LS5 came with "Malibu" door panels
Wow 80k with all the changes and reproduction parts. What’s it worth when all the stuff is restored back to original?
Do you have any cranberry 4 speed console black interiors
A clean camera lens goes a long way
I think it's the haze outside
Imagine the garage door coming down...
Where exactly were the engine blocks cast? At the same plant or another location?
All bbc blocks were build in Tonawanda, NY
The block may be original but if not rebuildable does not add value to the car.
What makes you think it’s not?
Hello from Detroit, did they make any painted roof ls6 cars, and if they did how many, my buddy has a 70ss painted roof car
You should have fired it up!
When a new PGN Muscle Car Barn Finds drops, we know another one has been found. Glory day!!!!!
Question: where are the cylinder heads, intake manifold, and carburetor from the LS5 motor??
Are they on the 396 that's in the car or gone??
No build sheet available?
Ŵhy would inner fenders be missing
Great fishfry Patrick....whywikd someone take out the 454 andput a smaller engine it
I wonder why the LS5 was removed? What happened to it?
No explanation why original engine was removed, block may cracked
My question as well...........
Blowed up, lmao
May have burned a valve with the unleaded gas. That would explain the heads being off.
No vinyl top?
I want to buy one
14:19 while this car is mainly in excellent condition, the mess that can be identified here is why the car isn't fetching 6 figures.
I'd throw the auto trans in the dumpster where it belongs, put a M22 in with some some stout rear gears then it would be fun to drive like a muscle car is supposed to be.
I agree, all BB cars with AC were automatic
Crank it , Bruh
How come it came with Malibu emblems on the door panel if its a SS
Same thing I said to my self! So is it an original SS or a clone?
@oscarp.6011 yeah it makes no sense
Already answered above.
Matching numbers means the whole freaking car unless otherwise specified! Gees!!
Wrong headlight switch knob
How come the og door panels say malibu but exterior says SS?
Answered above.
Ummm... we at the top??
A LS5 car wouldn’t have red 454 numbers on the front fenders, only LS6 would.
That’s a bargain at that price
Hopefully it doesn't go up north and end up rotted out
I would imagine that anyone up north (like myself) who pays 80 grand for a car, would be smart enough to keep it in a very nice garage. And it definitely wouldn't be driven in the snow or salt. jmo
So sandbags and tire chains are a no go then?
At 80k it will be a while before someone jumps on that. The original engine is out and I bet it's worthless
you would lose that bet
Then why put a 396 in a 454 car when the 454 with a little effort could have been used?
At that price it is no longer a hobby....and it doesnt have its original engine INSTALLED
the prices folks are paying for old cars is definitely hurting the hobby.
Why don’t I see a contact number for seller ?
It’s in the description
Got it thanks
So, the car is NOT 100% correct. The fact the original engine was removed, begs one to want to know why? Also the tranny’s been replaced. PNG keeps saying it’s original. The body maybe original, but the rest of the car isn’t 100%. Nice example, not, IMHO, worth $80k
nowhere in the video did he state the car is 100% correct, 100% correct LS5 cars only exist in the 110K range
@@ssdan2 I know. A partner of mine has one, all matching $98k. Beautiful car, as is this one.
Not original, not matching, may unsubscribe if you keep doing this
$3500 cash , dont high ball me.
I trust Patrick as being honest and a wealth if knowledge on these cars, but if I was in the market for an $80k SS, I wouldn't touch this car with a ten foot pole. Far too many things to knit pick about it. #1 would be the flashy paint. #2 would be I disagree with numbers matching stance. To me, this means motor, trans, rear axle, and body shell hasn't been changed out... UNLESS ... you have all those parts sitting inside a garage to sell with the car. Next thing, I would rustle up the original radiator, brake booster, master cylinder. Everything else wrong with this car, I would let slide. 😂 I cant imagine what type of man would buy a triple green car.
Nice car not a fan of green though mine is cranberry red
I can’t keep track of the list of non-originals on this car. So it’s not original.
nowhere does it says it's original
80G? Nope.
Find something new. "Barn finds" have been done to death.....blah blah blah....
And yet you're here.
i could have bought one for $3500 red with black stripes all original around 1990
To think you lost out on 50g’s
Thank you
