  • A friend of mine and I tracked down and was able make a purchase on this unbelievable car hidden for decades and totally unknown to the Supercar Registry, Muscle Car, and Chevelle communities, this 1969 COPO 9566 AA 427 Chevelle is 1 of only 2 Tuxedo Black with manual trans ever to surface. It hails from Landers Chevrolet a small Chevrolet dealership in Hurricane, West Virginia that was also responsible for the sale of a Tuxedo Black 1969 427 COPO Camaro as well.

I never lifted my foot off the gas in all 3 shifts & the 68 sat right beside me to 120 mph. I have a casting book 840 heads are iron heads rectangle ports closed chamber I think these were used on the 435 hp vett used in late67 that head is the cast iron equevilant to the aluminum 842 head used on the l89 and l88 used in 1968 if you noticed the 1968 L88 427 used closed chambered aluminum heads but in 1969 the change to 074 Zl1 style open chamber head was used not only the heads changed but the Pistons as well but one thing stayed the same in the following engines 1966 L71,L72, 427 theL89 396 and L89 427 and don't forget the greatest the Ls6 454 used the same solid lifter cam the # 143 street mechanical solid cam you have that cam you have those engines and lucky me I have one new in the tube

    The reason they have SS wheels is that was the only 14x7 available on a 69 Chevelle SS and the COPO package started with ta SS and then did an exception and substitution list which added the engine and rear end, if the car was ordered with 9737 sports car conversion it would have the 15x7 YH wheels like the 69 YENKO Chevelles.

    • @patrickglennnicholsmusclec1674
      @patrickglennnicholsmusclec1674  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All of the 99 1969 Yenko Chevelles began life as part of the roughly 323 COPOs. They were shipped to Yenko and he added his Yenko decals and other mods. Therefore a 1969 Yenko Chevelle is also a COPO.
