Just a heads up to anyone getting into VR. If you get motion sick in VR, immediately stop playing! Do not push through the feeling, it will only get worse and will not benefit you at all. When you feel ok again, play in VR again. Keep repeating this process. It took me a week but I have terrible motion sickness. I went from feeling sick within 50 seconds, next day 2 minutes, then 5 minutes etc. Eventually you're brain will come to terms with this new concept, and eventually then you can play VR as long as you like! Great rig build! Suggestion: Consider adding another piece of wood to the backboard that the pedals rest on. This will give your pedals the correct angle. Your Fanatec pedals are designed to be used in a desktop position with your chair positioned at 19 inches high. Your sim rig seat is much lower so the angle of the pedals is incorrect. If you ever get leg cramps then this is the reason why. :)

I've watched a tonne of this video's and plans, and everyone complains about how hard it is to get in and out of the rigs. Isn't it an easy fix to build the rig to match the seat in the *MOST* forward position on its rails, then when you want to enter/exit the rig, the seat slides all the way back on rails, and you exit easily?
Kevin Corcoran that works gear if you’re on a traditional slider, yeah! My kit happens to be the type where you position it and then tighten bolts down to hold it there. It was just something I had laying around otherwise I probably would have don’t this

Hello, i know i am late. I am thinking of build a one of these for my csw 2,5, It is steady? Do you have any flex ? I would be very thankfull if you answered:) sorry for bad english
TAZRR TAZRR as someone who’s learned a second language as an adult I think your English is just fine 😉 This rig is really steady, If a steel or extruded aluminum rig is 100% is say this is a solid 90%. I don’t notice any flex at all when I’m driving, but sometimes if I look at the side while steering I can see a little bit. Here’s a detailed build breakdown for this project if you’ve only seen this “fast version” th-cam.com/video/oVP_59q_DvI/w-d-xo.html
TAZRR TAZRR happy to help! I’m still using the same cockpit today and it’s just as solid as when I first built it! As long as you don’t take it apart it’ll do a good job for you 💪🏻
It won’t compete with an aluminum profile cockpit but for the price, it’s quite good 👍🏻 I’ve used an 8Nm belt drive wheel on it (the one in this video) and it’s easily enough. I now use a 20Nm DD wheel and for drifting or simulating a power steering grip car it’s not perfect but also not really noticeable while driving. If I steer into the lock stops where the wheel is resisting me with 20Nm of force it has some flex, but I don’t drive at anywhere near that FFB. I only use about 10-12Nm and there it feels good 👍🏻
Nah, nobody needs a circular saw to build this. A kataba is crazy efficient, easy to keep straight, and it's very cheap, and doesn't take up any space, and a simple backsaw can also be used. The problem is more that a permanent fixture like this won't fit into my apartment :(
Siana Gearz handsaws can also work, just takes more time...fortunately very little of this design requires perfect cuts 👍🏻 It does take up some space though😅
Dominationz 7:50 it’s right there...? If you mean my most recent content, that handbrake (which to be fair, I bought used) broke and I haven’t replaced it yet 🤷🏻♂️
I used 2x4x8 foot planks for most of it, and 2x6x8 foot planks for a few pieces. The description has a video with specific measurements cause ppl asked a lot
thesoundman22 haha that would be an amazing collab, the sim drone racer games are pretty legit! That said, if you spectate a race and stream your feed to a social media outlet it would be kind of similar?? Except you’d use the keys and mouse to “fly”
thesoundman22 I’m going to be doing Assetto Corsa and Live For Speed. I’ve played LFS before back when I used to do sim racing, and I know it’s got a fair bit of replay options, I would assume you can do something similar as a spectator...but I could be wrong🤔
Gotta work with what you've got! I was on a Logitech Driving Force before this, but I got out os sim driving when I tried drifting with it...(predictably it was awful lol)
🤔 you know of a way to transfer the mark from the bolt head to the surface with graphite? I think a wet medium like a paint marker would be far superior for this specific use case.
esmokebaby good idea; if I’d built my cockpit higher off the ground I could’ve basically slid it under a normal desk to drive and slid it back out for other games, I built this thinking I’d go VR but that didn’t end up working out 🤷🏻♂️
esmokebaby I’m pretty happy to recommend Assetto Corsa on PC with drift-specific mods. The only other game I’ve played that I know has good realism is Live For Speed, but I’m going to try more titles in the future and talk through their features.
Monty it’s been so long I forget, but this and many other “vlog music” options worth listening to can probably be found by searching the “Casey Neistat Vlog Music” playlists in TH-cam and listening to them. You’ll find plenty to like ✌🏻

Dev vlogs/ plays hahaha hey at least I have Whataburger locally here😅🙏 I came from the east about 5 years ago and had never had either so I’ve been happy to enjoy both TBH 👌🏻
I borrowed a friends set for about 2 months while he was in Japan and had no significant improvement...I’ll try it again in a few generations of headsets 🤷🏻♂️ Right now I’m on triple 32” 1440p monitors and it’s pretty nice...VR is more immersive, but when I want max immersion I’ll just drift my real car 🤙🏻
PHI666 phoenix I didn’t recognize the channel name but I think I’ve seen one or two of his thumbnails pop up in my recommended videos. Either way, I know I’m not the first, people have been building wooden sim cockpits since long before Assetto, and I bet since before LFS too 🤷🏻♂️
i thought everyone did that, i was expecting you to make a custom steering wheel... total shame. worse still, the knowledge people actually pay instead of building their own. also the knowledge i can't afford any good new steering wheel and pedals and probably never will. if anyone out there reads this, do you have a second hand steering wheel i could buy? i'm in Australia.
MAKINBACON30 I bought all that stuff used...and the reason I can afford what I’ve got is from saving money when I can! Outside of being a bit of a beast to move around, this wood rig is rigid and puts the controls where I wanted them🤷🏻♂️

Here’s a detailed build breakdown for this project if you’ve only seen this “fast version” th-cam.com/video/oVP_59q_DvI/w-d-xo.html
@@KameTrick Hello, thanks for answering!! Well then i am going to build one of these. Thanks so much for this video!!
TAZRR TAZRR happy to help! I’m still using the same cockpit today and it’s just as solid as when I first built it! As long as you don’t take it apart it’ll do a good job for you 💪🏻
How's the rigidity
It won’t compete with an aluminum profile cockpit but for the price, it’s quite good 👍🏻
I’ve used an 8Nm belt drive wheel on it (the one in this video) and it’s easily enough.
I only use about 10-12Nm and there it feels good 👍🏻
How long is it from top to bottom?
I posted the measurements in this video! :)
th-cam.com/video/oVP_59q_DvI/w-d-xo.html
Great budget sim. But fanatec tech is a fortune thought, so overall about 2 thousand pounds then lol
Yeah the gear you slap on the cockpit is a whole separate issue 😅
Nah, nobody needs a circular saw to build this. A kataba is crazy efficient, easy to keep straight, and it's very cheap, and doesn't take up any space, and a simple backsaw can also be used.
The problem is more that a permanent fixture like this won't fit into my apartment :(
Siana Gearz handsaws can also work, just takes more time...fortunately very little of this design requires perfect cuts 👍🏻 It does take up some space though😅
Why the pedals so close?!
Cause I have short little baby Deadpool legs 🤷🏻♂️
Brother i need the blueprint for this sim rig , please
Why there’s no hand brake?
Dominationz 7:50 it’s right there...?
If you mean my most recent content, that handbrake (which to be fair, I bought used) broke and I haven’t replaced it yet 🤷🏻♂️
Sorry. Didn’t saw my bad
And can I ask you a question? I’m trying to buy a drift race cockpit simulator, what websites you recommend me to search
Dominationz all good!😁✌🏻
Dominationz if you want to buy something you might hit up ricmotech on Insta. If you do, tell em I sent ya 🤙🏻
7:50
I know im YEARS late but do you have the blueprint to this im looking to build something similar
th-cam.com/video/oVP_59q_DvI/w-d-xo.html
What size of wood
I used 2x4x8 foot planks for most of it, and 2x6x8 foot planks for a few pieces. The description has a video with specific measurements cause ppl asked a lot
@@KameTrick thanks
I need a sim drone in yalls sim drifting situation...
thesoundman22 haha that would be an amazing collab, the sim drone racer games are pretty legit!
That said, if you spectate a race and stream your feed to a social media outlet it would be kind of similar?? Except you’d use the keys and mouse to “fly”
@@KameTrick what game is it? Ill look into it.
thesoundman22 I’m going to be doing Assetto Corsa and Live For Speed. I’ve played LFS before back when I used to do sim racing, and I know it’s got a fair bit of replay options, I would assume you can do something similar as a spectator...but I could be wrong🤔
@@KameTrick what system are you playing it on?
thesoundman22 I’ll be playing on PC, at least to start
i have a old Logitech MOMO wheel and pedals LOL
Gotta work with what you've got! I was on a Logitech Driving Force before this, but I got out os sim driving when I tried drifting with it...(predictably it was awful lol)
paint it!
Dae scope out how it came out!😁✌🏻
th-cam.com/video/CtN7XADk83o/w-d-xo.html
4:35 Smart guys work with a pencil.
🤔 you know of a way to transfer the mark from the bolt head to the surface with graphite? I think a wet medium like a paint marker would be far superior for this specific use case.
@@KameTrick I mean what you used here is a pencil. I do not know English well enough. It was a positive remark.
its nice taking drift lessons from seth rogan tbh
Haha oh yeah 💪🏻
2 years later 100 dollars budget build!!
Still the cheapest, but not that cheap after the past couple years 😭
I need to make a rig that also dubs as a pc desk for othef games with only 28inch wide 67 inch long with screen on the wall
esmokebaby good idea; if I’d built my cockpit higher off the ground I could’ve basically slid it under a normal desk to drive and slid it back out for other games, I built this thinking I’d go VR but that didn’t end up working out 🤷🏻♂️
@@KameTrick so you drift in real cars so what game do you fill is best to learn on that can actualy give you a start to real world drifting
esmokebaby I’m pretty happy to recommend Assetto Corsa on PC with drift-specific mods. The only other game I’ve played that I know has good realism is Live For Speed, but I’m going to try more titles in the future and talk through their features.
@@KameTrick sounds awsome
@@KameTrick have you tried Car-X drift racing on Steam
I WONT ONEEEEEEEEEEEEE
2022* At this point in time the cost of lumber makes this the most expensive rig ever😂
"Wooden sim rig for sale, $1000. No lowballing, I know what I've got" 😂😂😂
hello to you have measurements for your sim racing to Share
Yep! th-cam.com/video/oVP_59q_DvI/w-d-xo.html
@@KameTrick tank you
You should have gotten whata burger way better
Karaam Loville haha 🍔 ❤️
I do get Whataburger from time to time!✌🏻
U dean kareen
It's more like a 40 million dollar setup with wood prices 😂
Oh man, current prices are ridiculous 😢
Cant find the name of this song. Can anyone help?
Monty it’s been so long I forget, but this and many other “vlog music” options worth listening to can probably be found by searching the “Casey Neistat Vlog Music” playlists in TH-cam and listening to them. You’ll find plenty to like ✌🏻
Does anybody know the name of the Song in the background ?
Michael G. It’s been so long since I uploaded this video that I don’t recall. Search for copyright free vlog music and you’ll find several playlists with it, along with other good songs you might like✌🏻
‘Twas $40 now $400 lol inflation man smh
The pandemic economy is 😬
*goes to Texas eats at in and out burger, instead of Whataburger* *sigh*
Dev vlogs/ plays hahaha hey at least I have Whataburger locally here😅🙏 I came from the east about 5 years ago and had never had either so I’ve been happy to enjoy both TBH 👌🏻
you have to get used to VR. everyone gets motion sick their first time
I borrowed a friends set for about 2 months while he was in Japan and had no significant improvement...I’ll try it again in a few generations of headsets 🤷🏻♂️ Right now I’m on triple 32” 1440p monitors and it’s pretty nice...VR is more immersive, but when I want max immersion I’ll just drift my real car 🤙🏻
wtf dude, for the hole punch you're supposed to use a mallet.....
rond haha gotta work with what you’ve got😅
This didn’t age well. This is the most expensive rig
Haha man the times have changed 👀
now in 2021 you'll have to add another Zero to the price
😔the pandemic economy is doing wild things to material prices 😔
i don't know how to say this but. you look like the age between 45 and 25. do what you will with that lol. good shit though
Homer Sorry haha sounds about right😅 Thanks for checking out my vids!
You copied home built by Jeff
PHI666 phoenix I didn’t recognize the channel name but I think I’ve seen one or two of his thumbnails pop up in my recommended videos. Either way, I know I’m not the first, people have been building wooden sim cockpits since long before Assetto, and I bet since before LFS too 🤷🏻♂️
Ok
i thought everyone did that, i was expecting you to make a custom steering wheel... total shame. worse still, the knowledge people actually pay instead of building their own. also the knowledge i can't afford any good new steering wheel and pedals and probably never will. if anyone out there reads this, do you have a second hand steering wheel i could buy? i'm in Australia.
You can afford a fanatec wheel, hydro e brake and shifter but can’t afford to buy a nice stand.
MAKINBACON30 I bought all that stuff used...and the reason I can afford what I’ve got is from saving money when I can! Outside of being a bit of a beast to move around, this wood rig is rigid and puts the controls where I wanted them🤷🏻♂️
