In this episode of Lift Arc Builds, we embark on an exciting project to design, fabricate, and install a custom sign for Golden Cactus Brewery. Watch as we create an impressive blade-style sign featuring a polished brass centerpiece and an illuminated box frame.
The process begins with detailed planning and material selection, highlighting the use of brass and the intricate cutting of grass sheeting. We meticulously work on achieving a uniform, shiny finish for the brass, and ensuring care is taken to avoid damaging the material.
You'll see the assembly and installation of the sign, including the integration of LED lights to enhance its visibility and appeal. We also tackle practical challenges, such as running power through the sign’s mounting arm and making sure it aligns with the existing exterior lighting system of the brewery.

Casually walks past a new Langmuir 'Toy' in a HUGE packing crate 🤩
That brass looks awesome.
Aaron is the “Dirty Harry” of Lift Arc, “It not just good, it’s good enough” - great tag line 😁
I like how Aaron disguises himself by shaving
I wonder how it would look with unprotected copper? This looks awesome! I can't wait to see how it patinas. set your reminder for next year to do a follow up.
Sign looks great, nice work! Post a shot of it at night. Just some well meaning commentary here. Try to avoid pointing conduit fittings up ( towards the rain/snow ), and use weatherproof fittings, not the el cheapo set screw style. You used a weatherproof box, which is good, just use the appropriate fittings that are meant to be used with them.
Excellent consideration.
On a related note, why did you choose front rather than backlighting? The front lighting beautifully emphasizes the brass, but sandwiching brass - light - backing - light - brass will emphasize the word brewery, as well as allow you to encase the electrical.
Please prove me wrong by posting night pictures of both sides of the sign. Your native awareness of local light effects might have guided your decisions. I will love to see it.
Looking forward to seeing this is person.
Looks good guys
hey hello! It wasn't half bad! 😊
Water Jet next get for Lift Arc works on conducting and non-conducting materials like wood, glass, stone, fibre glass, etc. and all metals while producing cut edges that need no finishing install power supply like an electrician and drill thru wall powering from inside! Ray
A signature sign of signage craftsmenship!
love it
That sign looks awesome!
Got see a pic or vid of it at night !
They also make things called tap sockets! 😀 Love your videos!
Pick your alloy, these guys can Fab' it for you. That sign will outlive the 120 year old brick!
We need to see a night shot.
Cut some circles out give them to Tay and tell him he’s got brass balls now. Sign turned out legit.
Well that turned out awesome!
The conduit connector is not legal for wet locations. It must be a compression connector. Your box is going to have water intrusion and it will fill the hanger of the sign.
Agreed...needs to be raintight conduit connectors for outdoor use.
Lazer cutting is a better choice for brass
What fasteners did you use to go into the brick?
What's the cost of brass sheet that big? More than stainless or steel?
uh.. I bought a whole bunch of shungite... rocks
I'm glad somebody got the reference - Walker
Now you gotta build your buddy a cube light of the same brass to lose that fuggly green one above it..
What brand of LED lights did you guys use. I have tried several types and they all seem to have drawbacks. The ones you all used look pretty good.
Super Bright LEDs. They have a few different 120 volt options that we like.
- Spike
Wait is Aaron a CAVS fan ?!?!
What? No shot of the awesome sign lit up at night? I feel a little cheated! Great looking sign. Was I not supposed to see the MR1 sitting in the big box? Spoiler alert - I saw it. I bet Walker was supposed to avoid that being in the shot...geez Walker.
how bout a night pic with sign lit
:D
The stencil style cutout / fonts signs is atrocious looking as though it’s like it’s from the set of the TV show MASH. GOOD moderately talented fabricators know how to make signs like this without the tabs holding in the centers of their letters. It’s really not that difficult especially with a signs like this.
Also if your going to use led lighting look into WLED and then build your own controllers. And use the proper IP rated outdoor strips!
Its clear, I should really charge WAY more for my work. I still hand cut some of my signs to say it’s true art and it’s better then running it In the tablet.
Real electrician stuff…Doesn’t ground the frame, or IP and Ul rated components. At least it looks like he had common sense enough to put weeps in. Although that might have been a happy coincidence.
what the fuck happen to the stair thing ...very disapponiting
