  • Welcome back to Lift Arc Builds! In this video, we demonstrate our new pinch roller and the challenges we faced while trying to roll a perfect cylinder. Our goal is to create a chamber to showcase an old well in a house.
There are a lot of difficulties when it comes to trying to create something perfectly round, and thankfully we found some incredible resources on TH-cam which we will link below:

You made a fabulous job of that cylinder, Tay. When you introduced the video I thought it was a plastic insert you’d bought in for a job. Very well done!

Tay, I've said it before, but I'll say it again; I love your channel. I think you make some great content, and I like your personality. This video was another example.
I was in business for myself many years ago...just about the most stressful time in my life, and I hope to never go back to that dynamic; I struggled with pricing, which resulted in my being taken advantage of, and while we were making great products, we ultimately closed my business because I wasn't charging enough. Having said that, I'd love for you to give some insight as to how you price your jobs, the economics of running your business and paying your employees, and a breakdown of the revenue streams from your channel. Not that I will ever be a competitor, but I'm dying to know how you're making it all work. Another great TH-camr that I follow is Shop Nation; he's done a couple of episodes where he discussed the economics of his business, and those videos are some of his most-viewed. Here's a link to one: th-cam.com/video/6WDbd-z-iPM/w-d-xo.html
Again, not trying to be nosy, just genuinely interested in your success.
    Keep up the great content!
    All the best,
    Jon

Very timely for me. I had a baby Pinch Roller arrive a couple of days ago for rolling some round pans. I was going to roll long and cut the flat bits off but now time to rethunk it 👍

When welded metal that is powder coated can look like it’s molded plastic, it’s well done for sure. The welds and seems weren’t even visible at all. Nicely done Tay and Co.

Fabricators notoriously complain about how designers know nothing about what it takes to create. This shop has a designer who works shoulder to shoulder with fabricators.
In this video, Spike explains what he designed and why. Tey starts his work knowing exactly what dimensions he must manipulate. Spike asks questions about how a fabricator handles slack that might emerge during production. This knowledge can inform his future design work.
Thank you, Spike and Tey, for modeling the rare in-shop communication that can make fabrication work seamless. Your shop interactions set this channel apart from all the rest. It is no wonder you successfully manage to design-build some of the most creative industrial-strength projects on TH-cam.

Amen brother! This is exactly how you do things in a small business. You get everyone on the same page, teach them more than they need to know, kick the "f#@k up factor" out the window and save the $$$ and pain for another day.

when you cut hole for a cylinder before you roll it don’t fully cut it out, leave a tag that holds the piece in there while you roll, then the resistance is fairly even all round the plate. if you roll with a larger hole cut out it can over bend, hope that makes sense.

Nice job for your first attempt 😁👌 I know heaps about rolling & I would suggest presetting your ends first with the bend roller & presetting at least 100mm at each end material , enjoy 😁👍

Tey, coming from custom body work where you have to hammer and dolly sheat metal. I know it sounds crazy but a tig weld is actually softer than a mig when using a hammer & dolly a tig weld is easier to hammer flat than a mig weld. So I figure the same may apply in the roller. If you stitched it together with a tig weld, it may roll out cilintracul easier in the roller. Just thought it may be worth a shot to try any way.

The best thing about this channel, is that there is something to be learnt, virtually every video. Well done Tay, for a first attempt that was brilliant. I know I would have screwed, if not skewed it up if not both for sure.

You need to try it like a toilet paper roll, that way the seam gets rolled on a angle, spreads the weld around the circumference instead of being in one place.
    I've been enjoying these videos.

TO further explain, the sheet is cut like a parallelogram and feed the angle "ends" first. It doesn't have to be multiple turns, just the equivalent of a 1/4 or 1/2 turn should spread the weld out nicely.

Tay may I also suggest for that one "MF" or a roll that just wants to fight you. Run you Tig down the inside/outside without filler in the parts that run flat so that when it cools it pulls the metal into shape. Had an old guy show me this once and it has saved my ass more than a few times!!!!
Do we get to see the creation Aaron was building in the background? Looks awesome at a distance, can't wait to see it up close!!

You need to bump brake the ends first to the correct curve since the roller can't form the last few inches.

Also, if Spike wore a moo moo dress and slides, all he’d need to get his AARP card would be a pocket full of Werther’s originals to give to the kids. 🤣😂. Kidding of course Spike

I've seen these channels before. Way more into getting subscribers, and generating content than being productive in your society. The dumb music, the video editing... cringe factor that engineers and tradesmen feel when exposed to this...
