It was cool to see him in the Snyder Cut but he was clearly meant to be set up for a larger role later on and since we’re not getting that anymore I need to see my boy as a prominent and preferably founding member. Also with better CGI.
Are they forgetting that some of the greatest cast for comic heros came from somewhat unknown actors? U don't need a big name to pull off a good movie, just a good script and someone that nails the character
The whole point of adapting a "popular" work is to sell it on its own merits. Mark Hamil is Luke Skywalker, James Bond is a book, choose whoever to be James Bond in the film.
I agree. I feel like they're giving these roles to older actors with experience because those actors want those roles and the studio doesn't know how to say "no" to a Robert Downy Jr. level of an actor so now we have 60 year old Dr. Doom. If Samuel L. Jackson came to DCU/Warner Bros and demanded and pleaded that he wants to play Green Lantern - John Stewart the chances of him getting that role is a lot higher than a new face despite his age. Plus they look at it from a marketability standpoint, veteran actors increases viewership over fresh faces.
This is why animation is almost almost always better than live action. Stuff like age, and whether actors want to play the same role for 10+ years or not. With animation the most that would be affected is the voice of the character
Because they are the older generation of superheroes that have existed for a time now...the new generation will be Superman, hawk girl,John Stewart who are younger.
There's a big risk of them just not being taken seriously, it's a good idea for sure but it would fail to differentiate from the DCAU, DCAMU, Tomorrowverse ect
i hope cyborg is a teen titan and also middle aged justice league is risky as heck - i'd say they should have other superheroes more in line with superman's age
@@Efrencit017yeah, I understand DC's New 52 is kinda like what Marvel's Ultimate universe is, a new take, but I always felt weird about Cyborg on Justice League.
I'm not a Green Lantern fan but, that boy Hal Jordan needs some love like come on, he is being done dirty just like Martian Manhunter when it comes to live action films
Sigh. And I don't wanna say anything yet because the movie isn't out but I already don't like some of the casting. Even the Josh Brolin rumour as me nervous. Nanjiani is def not the actor I was looking for them to choose. It's almost like he will be playing himself. Sadly, this whole thing already just feels dorky. For goodness sake, why does Superman's suit looks like he's cosplaying..literally when he bends his arm it folds smh. I'm just praying that the actors actually bring range and depth to the character they're playing.
@@hendricksroshaneregarding the suit... It's a god damn set photo. You really think they will not tweak it in post production? Like multiple superhero related movies have done? We haven't even seen the suit on film yet, we have no idea how it will look like in the actual product. Just be patient.
i was initially not sold on nathan fillion as guy gardner but to a point i can get behind it cuz there is a resemblance, but i just cannot understand the thought process of josh brolin as hal jordan, casting hal as an old man cuts away the potential for SO MANY cool stories from the green lantern mythos (sinestro corps war, first lantern, blackest night, etc) and it kinda makes me think they wanna plunge immediately into going for parallax or smth which is... certainly an idea of all time
Because OBVIOUSLY they can't do those stories with Hal in games or animated movies/shows set BEFORE Green Lanterns if they need him to be under 40 for those, that would just be silly taking advantage of what Gunn promised about how all those forms of media will be utilized for the DCU. Having games and animated works would be perfect for showing events that happened earlier since they won't have to deal with the actors ages on either side. Or have John, Kyle, Simon, Jessica, or Jo fill in Hal's, hey pretty much every other DC franchise has treated characters like they are interchangeable.
lol bro he's literally got two or three "side characters" that we can see &we haven't even got to metamorpho yet so you're probly looking in the wrong place The chances of someone like James Gunn greenlighting a solo Mr Terrific movie focused solely on him are slim to none so I suggest you prepare yourself for disappointment
I would like the league to look like this: Superman Batman Wonder Woman Green lantern John Stewart The Flash Barry Allen Martian Manhunter Hawkgirl Vixen Other heroes would join with time
I just hope Zaslav doesn't screw things up. WBD is not in good shape. Their stock has been plunging since they merged with Discovery, even though Zaslav still got paid $50 million last year. Although half of his pay was in WBD stocks so he might end up getting a lot less if the stock keeps going down. They've sacrificed a lot to pay down their debt, but they're not making enough and they've been devaluing their brands. They're going to be forced to make some unfavorable deals to get funding, like selling off or licensing properties and studios. They'll also continue to cut things. If there's a recession, they might not even be able to afford to make these big budget superhero movies.

I definitely feel like they could have gone a different route with the green lantern series. I always loved the idea of experienced Sinestro and rookie Hal team up and slowly see their beliefs begin the differ as they solve a case. Missed opportunity
@space1734 I do like this idea as well but I don't mind the direction they took. Free spirited Hal I wish we got see but I can understand after experiencing the craziness of space and probably losing Carol it could change him. I do want to see Hal let loose and be his young self in moments. I'm just don't particularly like the casting choices besides Olymphant (he's even a choice I'm not too keen on). Hopefully the Lanterns series surprises.
@@HW-iz6zv Tbh that dynamic sounds too reminiscent of the failed Green Lantern movie. I think taking this opportunity to introduce a rookie John being mentored by Hal is the better and smarter way to go.
I think Booster Gold as a Midlife Crisis Future Man could work. Guy from the future whose dreams haven't panned out, so he travels to the past where they're viable. Learns the meaning of being heroic. Yada yada. It's something.
All he needs to do…his #1 priority…the most important job in his position is to GET SUPERMAN AND BATMAN RIGHT!!! You represent them right, and the rest will fall into place. No more interpretations, no more creative decisions, just stick to the effn source material. It’s all laid out for you. The blueprint has been there for nearly a century. The only way to mess this up is by letting your ego lead the way. DONT LET YOUR EGO GET IN THE WAY!!!
I believe that the core cast for the Justice League needs to be Batman, Superman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, and Green Arrow. As long as they are all written properly and characterized correctly, the DC Aligned Continuity Universe (which is what I currently am calling this new direction by Gunn) could rival the MCU in popularity and not make the same mistakes as the DCEU.
Looks nothing like Booster Gold. The guy cast as Guy Gardner looks more like Booster Gold from the leaked screenshot than this rumored casting. Hopefully it is a baseless rumor.
My IDEAL DCU Justice League: Superman Batman Wonder Woman The Flash (Barry Allen) Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) Aquaman Martian Manhunter Green Lantern (John Stewart) Hawkgirl/Kendra Saunders Zatanna The Atom (Ryan Choi) Green Arrow Black Canary Hawkman/Katar Hol Captain Marvel/Shazam
That would be a shitty Booster Gold casting. Not even because of race, but because he doesn’t give any vibes of the character at all. His last characters from all of his other roles don’t meet any of the same charisma I think the character has.
I wish Producers focus on longevity rather than star power more young actors would get chances in this movies rather than 50+ yo actors for their first movie in the franchise.Legit both Marvels and Dc will be in so much development hell we'll see their sequals in their 80's.
I agree with separating Hal and John after the series. John with the Justice league as I feel he always works best there and Hal in space with his adventures
Na. I want hal in league. I'm sick of seeing him being separated from them. From games, to comics, and probably now movies. He's legit one of the founding members of the league.
@@treek10k 100% agree. if I had it my way it would be just Hal as the starting lantern of the dcu and John join later but if we being realistic and they starting off with both John and Hal, John only really works on the League but Hal can stand on his own and with the League. I can definitely see John with the Justice league like the animated cartoon and Hal in space maybe even recruiting other lanterns on the emotional spectrum like a Gotg kinda team which is kinda similar to Hal’s own animated show
Honestly its better when they rotate the lanterns but I hope Hal is the founding lantern of the league but with John Stewart being the stand in since Hal is an honor guard.
I'm just worried with the casting choices for Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner that they plan to kill them off relatively soon into universe. I suppose I don't mind too much if we get Jessica Cruz and Kyle Rayner but seems like it's mainly gonna be John Stewart.
My fear is the Batfamily might be too big, which will, in turn, nerf Batman. The Batfamily should only be Batman, Alfred, Dick, Jason, Tim, Damian, Cassandra, and, uhh, Barbara at most. The fight scenes for Batman are similar to Ninja Assassin Raizo 2009, Ip Man, and Live-action Himura Kenshin. Batman should be Doc Savage and William James Sidis level intelligent and the smartest in the Batfamily since he's the second smartest man in DC behind Luthor. He isn't James Bond who needs a Q Batman is his own Q and can invent/innovate his own gear and vehicles. Batman’s deductions should be portrayed like 2010's BBC TV Sherlock Holmes. Nightwing should be similar since he's on Batman’s level as a warrior but more acrobatic. Lastly please 🙏 do something with Martian Manhunter as he's never had a animated film or series just about him.
@@trevonpernell0814 if you want to go on then go for it, but they had some great actors too and honestly majority of the casting rumors have me worried for the new DCU. I was really happy for the Superman casting but everything else has people 45+ for important roles in the DCU, *especially* that Hal Jordan casting whose almost as important as Barry Allen who in my opinion was the most important character they fumbled casting in the DCEU. So yeah this early on we don't know if it's gonna be better
I loved the dceu man, even with all its flaws. It sucks i couldnt see the conclusion, but im interested to see the new dc verse. I just hope it doesnt feel like mcu but different suits lol
Eh... some castting roles in this DCU are kinda.... bad, Kumail Nanjiani as Booster Gold? Really?... idk, I don't se him man. Also the Hal Jordan and Maxwell Lord... who cast this characters?, We can replace him?, now, no cuestion, no hesity, just... replace him now because he sucks at casting.
my ideal JL roster is the JLU roster...with Stewart being in his early 30s and Hal is his late 30s or 40s coming in and helping the JL here and there sometimes, and hawk girl her mid 20s and Wally in his early 20s while being mentored by Barry, Martian manhunter, and the trinity while at least adding green arrow and black canary in the core roster
really hoping that there's a former JSA. With some of those members now dead retired or still active. and having wonder woman be one of them. superman would hypothetically reignite an old fashioned version of heroism in his movie and maybe that would inspire a new jsa
That's what I see, too. Mr. Terrific, Hawkgirl, Metamorpho, and Guy Gardner's Green Lantern are part of Maxwell Lord's Justice League International. Once Superman makes a public impact alongside Batman and Wonder Woman, the Justice League of America will be a thing afterwards.
1. David Corenswet As Clark Kent/Superman 2. Scott Adkins As Bruce Wayne/Batman 3. Joanna Fyllidou As Diana Prince/Wonder Woman 4. Lucas Till As Barry Allen/The Flash 5. Trevante Rhodes As John Stewart/Green Lantern 6. Alexander Ludwig As Arthur Curry/Aquaman (He Needs To Have The Long Blonde Hair & Beard) 7. Common As J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter
I'd want the Justice League core cast to be Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Flash (Barry Allen), Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), and Aquaman.
I am quite nervous about what direction they're going to go with the Green Lantern Corps, especially since the character has been done dirty ever since the 2011 live-action movie flopped. After that, we've gotten barely any good or any GL content as WB acted like the DC Universe doesn't need the character, even though the GL lore and worldbuilding is such a critically fundamental aspect of the DC Universe. With the newest casting rumours for Hal Jordan and John Stewart, it seems they really want to emphasise Hal being an older GL member and a more tired, fierce character and John as the more reckless, youthful, fresh blood, which is a unique direction but makes me question why are they reversing their personalities since Hal's whole thing is about being the reckless, action first, fearless pilot and John being the intelligent, honourable no-nonsense man with a plan? Also, personally, I am not really a fan of them making Hal a senior member of the GLC and Im a bit nervous they'll adapt the Emerald Twilight storyline for the Lanterns show where Hal becomes evil as Parallax and Im afraid this mystery Hal and John are investigating will reveal Hal was behind it , which I really hope isn't the case, since its way too soon, to adapt that storyline this universe, especially since this would be audiences first exposure to the character in over a decade. I fear they'll do it without giving Hal a long-term, satisfying character arc, his personality before becoming jaded, the first time as a Green Lantern, his relationship with Carol Ferris, Kilowog, Tomar-Rae, The Guardian and especially his iconic rivalry with Sinestro and how he betrayed the GLC, which I feel like they'll just brush over. That especially sucks since Sinestro could've been built up as the Anakin Skywalker of this universe and have a dramatic downfall in the span of a GL trilogy, but sadly I fear that may not be the case anymore, and I hope Im wrong. Despite my inherent fears for what they'll do with Green Lantern in this new reboot Im still cautiously optimistic since Green Lantern has long deserved a second chance on the big screen and has so much cinematic potential to become an entire saga of movies and shows, and I trust James Gunn so Im willing to give it a chance
Yh I agree with everything you said but from the sounds of it if they’re making Hal older and John the main GL I feel like Hal’s iconic stories and characters will go to John just like in Beware my power they gave John Aya and Razor who are Hal’s friends
@@HW-iz6zv@HW-iz6zv But you see, that's the thing: you can't just swap Hal's personality, his stories and his supporting cast with John Stewart, especially since John has his own stories and personality that's different from Hal in an interesting way. Beware My Power was arguably one of the most mediocre and worst DC Animated movies. The way they made Hal into a boring twist villain, with no build-up or clear motivation just to make John more likeable, was such a disservice, especially since I love both Hal and John equally, and we've had multiple stories with Hal and John working alongside each other as equals. Not to mention, John's personality doesn't really work alongside other characters like Sinestro, who is undoubtedly Hal's arch enemy and their conflicting dynamic works so well because they have reestablished history as former partners and friends, which makes their rivalry more interesting, so by replacing Hal with John, it would make a rivalry between John and Sinestro less interesting without their conflicting personalities since both John and Sinestro are relatively serious people so theirs not synergy or chemistry between the two.
My ideal direction and founding members if I lead a DCU project Superman - Light Sci-fi elements of DC, almost silver age tone (just more grounded to modern versions) Batman - Grounded crime dramas, noir detective elements Wonder Woman - Skyworld and Underworld (Mythology focused) Flash - Classic superhero stories with emphasis on The Rogues' dynamic Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)- Heavy Sci-fi, Space Opera style. John Stewart introduced in the first movie and goes on to be the GL of earth and founding member Zatanna - Greater DC cosmology explored, Vertigo comics integration Icon - Milestone Media integration Justice League - Will adapt post crisis events. Movies will commonly star a new superhero as the effective protagonist that is aided by the league until they eventually join (The White Martian invasion arc starring Martian Manhunter as the effective protagonist for instance) and naturally have more superheroes join the league this way. I would also expand the Superman Family, Batman Family, and Wonder Woman Family in their respective movies. Eventually, establish Bart Allen as Kid Flash in the Flash movies. Kyle Rayner will be established in a later GL movie and eventually become the White Lantern. Zatanna will allow characters from the more magical side of DC to be established. Icon, of course, will do the same for Milestone Media characters. Eventually will have Nightwing, Starfire, Raven, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Donna Troy, Kid Flash, and Static established organically with all aforementioned happenings and make a Titans movie.
8:45 Hal being in the same age range as Guy is at least consistent, which I appreciate, but that doesn't make me like that they're that old already. And Bruce better not be that much older than Clark. That said, I'd also be annoyed if they were casting the JLA 7 et al. in their early twenties.
Considering how much james gunn takes from grant morrison for dcu, I would expect that he takes the jla lineup (with wally and kyle, where hal was dead and was im his 50's) with a combination or dcau lineup or YJ lineup or the JLI lineup or the most likely combination of all of them them.
Off topic but I’d love the JSA to show up in a film. Let them be the first iteration of the JL and have Superman and the more modern heroes basically bring that [the JSA] back, but newer and better. Or just make them a part of the JL roster like the DCAU did and have them be young idk. They’re cool let’s give them a chance to shine. After the main JL get their dues of course
I just want to finally see Big Barda/Mr. Miracle or any of the New Gods to appear in the DCU and on the big screen already. Such a shame the DCEU New Gods movie got scrapped.
It should be noted that actors have been playing characters that are a lot younger than they are irl. A big example being, tom holland playing a 15 year old peter parker despite being in his early 20s or Sam L jackson being in his 80s yet played fury that still looks like he's in his mid to late 40s. So even if they were to cast josh brolin as hal, they probably aren't making hal be in his 50s and either have josh wear makeup or effects to make him look young. But that's just my take.
I want to be optimistic, but Hal Jordan was my green lantern so knowing that they are skipping over most of his life is just disappointing. Can Hal get one win lately? I'm excited for John Stewart though, it looks like he has Hal Jordan's personality, so my grievances may not be all that bad for. I just like Hal Jordan though. Also, I want to believe in James Gunn DCU but it just sounds so brittle. Making so many well loved characters who are usually young, old as hell is not the smartest choice ever. I get the age for these characters is really ticking me off. I want to see these in their prime Superheroes take back the spotlight from Marvel, but I'm not sure if this universe will work in the long run. Atleast it'll be better then the Snyderverse.
Also if DC decides it too, i like the idea of the green lanterns being space cops and not necessarily space “Heroes” because it adds a little more story wise
If he knows what his doing he better have Red Robin, Beast Boy, Starfire, Kid Flash, D. Troy, Cybrog, Raven, and Roy Harper. Keep Damien away from the Titans
@@jason15212 My issue is that Nightwing would be in Bludhaven as his own sole hero. It could work with Nightwing. Not to mention It would make sense because Tim was apart of the the Titans after being with Young Justice. Same for Kid flash (Bart Allen)
@@ebenezeronile Tim anf Damien don’t need to thrust into titans early on. Nightwing is his own hero but you can’t have titans with original members and no Nightwing. That’s just mixing 3 different eras for no reason.
Please talk about the Hal Jordan rumoured casting cause man josh brolin is cool and all but I feel like they're gonna kill off Hal. John Stewart being in the dvu JL is cool but hal is going to be waisted again like in the 2011 movie. Don't get me wrong though, I want to see Hal vs senestro and Carl and hals romance story. They might do parallax
Gunn said that WW will show up 3-4 years from now. And we still have a prequel series (Paradise Lost) and one of her villainess' (Circe) showing up in Creature Commandos. The Amazonian Princess hasn't been forgotten.
I really want to know how are others hyped for Gunn's DCU? Like I really want to know. I will list a few reasons why I'mnot. 1. Outside the MCU his films do not perform well at the box office. 2. His recent scandal turned some folks off his work 3. His characters are never faithful to the comics. 4. Dave Bautista and John Cena is on record stating Gunn advise actors not to read the comics, only the script. 5. All the heroes are old minus Superman, which means he will not have a relationship with Batman, Dick Grayson and others. 6. The costumes looks cosplay/like a parody of the character. 7. Out of all the projects announced we only have 2 JL members involved. I'll stop at 7 but I really would like to hear facts with a little opinions on why we should feel hopeful with Gunn at the wheel.
Great points. Not to mention that WBD lied to us all about the DCEU and Black Adam, and then screwed Henry Cavill over, and then acted like nothing happened and pretended to be shocked when the backlash came and WBD stock tanked.
@@space1734 I mean Hal Jordan is not the main green lantern for the JL that will be John Stewart and having an old Green Lantern with his rookie partner does work well.
Well points one and two don’t affect my hype at all. Why would they? I’m not the one who’s trying to profit off these movies. I just want to go see a good movie. 3. Yeah, fair enough. But it’s also not just him writing and directing this universe. And he’s got some pretty big industry talent here. 4. And some of the other actors HAVE been told to read the comics. 5. One confirmed hero is older. Two are rumored (and yeah probably confirmed) to be older. But I missed the part where Mr. Terrific and Supergirl and John Stewart and Peacemaker and Blue Beetle are old. 6. I disagree. 7. You missed either Batman or Green Lantern.
So far it’s look like Superman will be youngest member in the Justice league batman will be mid 30s-40s and hal Jordan will be 40s-50s maybe Jon Stewart will be in the Justice league booster gold is also looks like a guy who be his in the 40s
The justice League squad need to be a little bit large as a result of us waiting for so long; Superman. Batman.Wonder woman, Flash, Green Latern ( Hal Jordan, but maybe both), Green arrow, Black Canary, Martian manhunter and Zatanna.
Josh Brolin would be dope in James Gunns DCU but he’s no Hal Jordan. Personally I would say James Marsden should be Green Lantern if they go for an older Hal.
the older heroes do make sense for legacy characters though, josh brolin as hal jordan being old as shit would make it easier to adapt kyle rayner down the line, and if they make barry allen old that makes it easier to get general audiences on board with wally west, etc.
If that were the case then Josh should be playing the original Green Lantern and have the original Flash Jay Garret pass the torch to Hal and Barry. Then from there Wally and Kyle. Introducing Hal this old in the game especially with how popular he is not the right move to me. Idk I guess 🤷🏾♂️
@@ebenezeronile the silver age and forward characters have far stronger in universe ties to each other which is easier to write, with the corps and the allen-west family, and rayner is more neglected than and deserves an onscreen adaptation more than alan scott imo
@@jerome3941 To that I agree with Allen-West/Rayner that’s what I was saying about popularity, but if we talk about on-screen time those that mean Barry and Hal will be one-and-done with how there introducing Hal being older not mentioned there propping John Stewart as the main green lantern. Not to mention which flash will be introduced Barry or Wally. But I keep forgetting how this characters are seasoned already. But the way Gunn’s approach is looking It’s like we’re not going to have much Hal & Barry if he is alive at all (Barry).
I'm gonna be blunt, I absolutely DO NOT TRUST DC to do anything right, right now, especially Warner, but if we're talking about roster, Martian Man a must being the heart of JL since it's his second family after his first one, and pretty much the JLA roster
Theory: Josh Brolin GL becomes Parallax very early on, leaving John Stewart as the main Lantern. Regarding the Justice League . . . I don’t know, man. I grew up with the JLI and to me those guys WERE the Justice League. But with Morrison’s run and the cartoon, people have developed a much more “purist” take on the JL. I’d rather they at least put something in there to surprise me. Especially after Marvel managed to make an unconventional Avengers lineup work with Hulk and Black Widow and all (who here remembers when the “platonic ideal” of an Avengers roster was Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Wasp, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch and Vision).
I think we are going close to the Justice league animated series member Superman, batman, wonder woman, flash, green lantern, hawkgirl, martian manhunter With all Casting rumor for Hal jordan i think they wanted john stewart will be a core member of justice league Then hal jordan will be like side character if there's going to be a lantern series/Movie after The Lantern series I hope Barry allen will be the flash then walley west will be kid flash joining in teen titans
Here’s my problem. I for the most part trust James by my problem is the trinity has to come first. Those 3 need films and we need a justice league film not a justice league international not that but the justice league and those trinity characters need trilogies as well
Looking at this as a whole, I’m just gonna sit back and see how all this shakes. One thing that I find interesting is how they will make the Green Lanterns work. The only reason I’d want to see an older Hal is if they are heading towards the parallax angle. Because having all of them in the JL at once would be a lot unless they do separate teams across all movies.
I hope they follow the Xmen 97 model of doing things: giving spotlight to underrated characters(Wonder Woman, GL, Zatanna, MM) but maintaining just enough popularity for the very popular ones (Batman)
Do you think we will see Mr Terrific taking Cyborg's spot in the Justice League in James Gunn DC projects in the DCU while Cyborg was part of the teen titans?
I think Hal being older breaks up the lantern line up in a good way. Just like Alan Scott it could be our “dad’s green lantern” type era. Giving our generation John and maybe a YJ Kyle? Who knows. And potentially seeing a live action JLU gets me so hyped!!!

I can see Josh Brolin play as Deathstroke, but at the same time I know that’s a stretch due to the fact it takes a lot of time and effort to be in super hero roles physique. Even for wolverine and deadpool movie Hugh said he struggled to be in that shape for his age.
Wait Kumali is too old but Jason Sudeikis at 48 is allegedly playing Ted Kord😅. Y'all do realize they have always been around the same age in comics right 😂. C'mon now let's use comic logic at least 💯 I don't have a problem with old actors playing Heroes. An experienced league is the best. A Hal with age on him is the best version. I'm sure they will give him the cosmic stories and give John league business

There's a big risk of them just not being taken seriously, it's a good idea for sure but it would fail to differentiate from the DCAU, DCAMU, Tomorrowverse ect
DC has literally dropped tons of animation it's overdue for live action in true continuity.
i hope cyborg is a teen titan and also middle aged justice league is risky as heck - i'd say they should have other superheroes more in line with superman's age
If anything else the Main lineup should be

i was initially not sold on nathan fillion as guy gardner but to a point i can get behind it cuz there is a resemblance, but i just cannot understand the thought process of josh brolin as hal jordan, casting hal as an old man cuts away the potential for SO MANY cool stories from the green lantern mythos (sinestro corps war, first lantern, blackest night, etc) and it kinda makes me think they wanna plunge immediately into going for parallax or smth which is... certainly an idea of all time
Because OBVIOUSLY they can't do those stories with Hal in games or animated movies/shows set BEFORE Green Lanterns if they need him to be under 40 for those, that would just be silly taking advantage of what Gunn promised about how all those forms of media will be utilized for the DCU. Having games and animated works would be perfect for showing events that happened earlier since they won't have to deal with the actors ages on either side. Or have John, Kyle, Simon, Jessica, or Jo fill in Hal's, hey pretty much every other DC franchise has treated characters like they are interchangeable.
7:28 yeah i don’t get why they like to cast old actors as way younger characters. sometimes being younger is literally apart of their character

They've sacrificed a lot to pay down their debt, but they're not making enough and they've been devaluing their brands.

Lastly please 🙏 do something with Martian Manhunter as he's never had a animated film or series just about him.

yeah that seems to make more sense especially with his age.
You can trust Gunn but Dc and wb are likely messs and not even get to a justice league movie at this stage @milkassumel780
Yh I agree with everything you said but from the sounds of it if they’re making Hal older and John the main GL I feel like Hal’s iconic stories and characters will go to John just like in Beware my power they gave John Aya and Razor who are Hal’s friends
@HW-iz6zv this dcu wo.t even meterialize fully
@@HW-iz6zv But why tho? That will just piss off Hal fans. What we need now is unity. The DCEU divided the fanbase, does Gunn want to divide it again?
I've heard they are changing Hal Jordan and John Stewart's personality
My ideal direction and founding members if I lead a DCU project
Superman - Light Sci-fi elements of DC, almost silver age tone (just more grounded to modern versions)
Batman - Grounded crime dramas, noir detective elements
Wonder Woman - Skyworld and Underworld (Mythology focused)
Flash - Classic superhero stories with emphasis on The Rogues' dynamic
Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)- Heavy Sci-fi, Space Opera style. John Stewart introduced in the first movie and goes on to be the GL of earth and founding member
Zatanna - Greater DC cosmology explored, Vertigo comics integration
Icon - Milestone Media integration
Justice League - Will adapt post crisis events.
I think he’s gonna make John Stewart part of justice league and Hal Jordan as a green lantern that take care of cosmic stuff
If they get brolin it just tells me that parallax is in the works and John Stewart is gonna be the main GL
That's too fast

8:45 Hal being in the same age range as Guy is at least consistent, which I appreciate, but that doesn't make me like that they're that old already. And Bruce better not be that much older than Clark. That said, I'd also be annoyed if they were casting the JLA 7 et al. in their early twenties.
3:14 if they cast him for booster gold, that would be the worst casting decision of all time.
Jared letto and ezra miller 😅
What about Skeets?
Considering how much james gunn takes from grant morrison for dcu, I would expect that he takes the jla lineup (with wally and kyle, where hal was dead and was im his 50's) with a combination or dcau lineup or YJ lineup or the JLI lineup or the most likely combination of all of them them.
I really don't like all the older casting Gunn is doing
A good chunk of the silver age heroes like Hal and Barry are always being skipped.
I would hate the booster gold casting
Also if DC decides it too, i like the idea of the green lanterns being space cops and not necessarily space “Heroes” because it adds a little more story wise
By biggest concern is that he’s going to make Damien too important in Titans projects. JL wise idk yet.

I really want to know how are others hyped for Gunn's DCU? Like I really want to know. I will list a few reasons why I'mnot.
1. Outside the MCU his films do not perform well at the box office.
2. His recent scandal turned some folks off his work
All I can say is don't hold your breath. This Hal Jordan casting has destroyed my hype for this universe.
Also also for point 7. Despite so few Justice Leaguers, almost all of the projects announced I actually want to see.
So far it’s look like Superman will be youngest member in the Justice league batman will be mid 30s-40s and hal Jordan will be 40s-50s maybe Jon Stewart will be in the Justice league booster gold is also looks like a guy who be his in the 40s
The justice League squad need to be a little bit large as a result of us waiting for so long;
Superman.
Josh brolin as green lantern, Chris pratt as Batman, kumail nanjiani as booster gold. Absolute perfection
🤮
@@FanGirl9463 what? It’s true perfection
This is horrendous, please never cook again.
@@BluuBarryAllen I've got to have whatever it is you're smoking because it must be some really good sh*t.
@@baki484 I’m not smoking? 😐
Josh Brolin as Hal Jordan is no different as RDJ as Dr Doom.
I don’t get why Hollywood is too cowardly to cast new younger actors for characters.
I'm just happy Guy Gardner is getting an appearance. Very underrated.
I think we are going close to the Justice league animated series member
Superman,batman,wonder woman,flash,green lantern,hawkgirl,martian manhunter
With all Casting rumor for Hal jordan i think they wanted john stewart will be a core member of justice league
Then hal jordan will be like side character if there's going to be a lantern series/Movie after The Lantern series
I hope Barry allen will be the flash then walley west will be kid flash joining in teen titans
Just like the animated show they’re gonna push out Hal for John and have him as main member of JL so the team is not white washed
Here’s my problem. I for the most part trust James by my problem is the trinity has to come first. Those 3 need films and we need a justice league film not a justice league international not that but the justice league and those trinity characters need trilogies as well
Has anyone noticed....that the lordtech logo looks like a dollar 50
Why can't both Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart both be in this universe?
Looking at this as a whole, I’m just gonna sit back and see how all this shakes. One thing that I find interesting is how they will make the Green Lanterns work. The only reason I’d want to see an older Hal is if they are heading towards the parallax angle. Because having all of them in the JL at once would be a lot unless they do separate teams across all movies.
I hope they follow the Xmen 97 model of doing things: giving spotlight to underrated characters(Wonder Woman, GL, Zatanna, MM) but maintaining just enough popularity for the very popular ones (Batman)
I think the Justice League lineup from the dcau is perfect: granted I might have some bias since that's the lineup I grew up with😅
If they get a Josh Brolin/Matthew McConaughey to be Hal their most definitely gonna do the Hal turns into Parralax story
My man James is doing some weird stuff on the kitchen I tell ya.
And my crazy conspiracy theory ass thinks about as a star wars way to go. First the last parts, then prequels...
Just don't burn whatever us in the kitchen James
I can see Josh Brolin play as Deathstroke, but at the same time I know that’s a stretch due to the fact it takes a lot of time and effort to be in super hero roles physique. Even for wolverine and deadpool movie Hugh said he struggled to be in that shape for his age.
Wait Kumali is too old but Jason Sudeikis at 48 is allegedly playing Ted Kord😅. Y'all do realize they have always been around the same age in comics right 😂. C'mon now let's use comic logic at least 💯
I don't have a problem with old actors playing Heroes. An experienced league is the best. Granted I liked the New 52 but many hated because they were too green & didn't have the history of the experienced post crisis team. A experienced Hal played by Brolin would be good. A Hal with age on him is the best version. I'm sure they will give him the cosmic stories and give John league business
