Great video Andy, interesting to see what sort of range can be squeezed out of the electric bikes. Do you think you may review bikes that have been adapted to electric? I personally have a fat bike and am thinking of making it electric, but am unsure which would be the best conversion kit for it. Cheers.
Paul, it very much depends on what you want to use the bike for. Hub drive and crank drive both have plus and minus points, and in respect of fatbikes, bottom bracket width and drop out width also require greater consideration. Then there is the question of whether you want to go down the route of having a bike that meets UK pedelec law, or outside of it. I would suggest joining Pedelecs Forum, and posing the question on there.
I'd love to try one, little pricey for me to just buy but maybe I can get a loan or something, gonna talk to a few shops about doing ebike shop tours which could give me access to more.
It's all going to depend on your terrain (and even temperature as cold effects batteries) but on this trip that had a fair amount of hills it got just over 50 miles (around 80km) which is about what they quote for pedal assist.
