Think that computer was in the home of a smoker. I remember cleaning the family computer as a kid and seeing dust sticking to circuit boards and cases like that from the tar in the air.. Good to see it cleaned out and restored. Brings back memories and likely the same for the owner.
I opened a laptop that was so gooey on the inside from tar and smelt like tobacco. The HDD actually got chocked out from the tar getting into it since it was not a sealed drive it needed to breath and could not. I explain to the person they should not smoke around things that need to breathe and that their laptop is such a thing. Telling them that their computer had effectively died from second hand smoke.
I wish disc drives could make a comeback and kill off Steam PC Gaming discs was once a thing it's time to bring it back and say goodbye digital age gaming you won't be missed this will be a HUGE leap for Microsoft.
@Cat and Andrew, Awesome. It is good to revive this type of equipment and even more so when it has sentimental value for the person. My admiration for your work bro and as always, greetings from Bogotá, Colombia
I always enjoy watching restoring old PC like this, after i finished warcraft3 campaign + frozen throne there was no game can make me feel the joy by the story and code or development technics i still play only one game, WarCraft3. it's like warcraft3 is 100 game and others are like 3 to 9 score.
Awesome video. It is nice to value the path behind us and feel what we have today as a result of work and research. I enjoy all your videos for detail and care for tech. Congratulations on your perfect work.
Aqui no terceiro mundo adoramos vídeos de restauração de PCs antigos, pois ainda usamos muito hardware antigo. Eu, por exemplo, tenho um Core2 duo como PC de uso diário.
I still have the same monitor I keep it as backup, it still works great. I also have 2 psu from that era 15-20 years old, still working great. They really knew how to build quality stuff back then.
I was born in 1992 I'm 31 Windows 7 was my first gaming PC now I am stuck on a Windows 10 gaming PC not decided if I want to run the Windows 11 upgrade or not.
There is usually a date stamped somewhere on the chassis with the date of manufacture. I myself have a similar one from 1999. With thick sheet metal and everything solidly made. Now equipped with a Pentium 4 - 2.8
Very similar to my first PC, AMD Sempron 2800+ S754 and Geforce 5 FX5200 :) Not very fast for XP era games, Doom 3, Crashday, Need for Speed were slideshow :p
That this computer has sentimental value to me. I love the days gone by when there were slightly happier times for us in the Balkans. By the way, I also have a very old DDR2 computer, an ECS A780GM-A Black Series motherboard that was released on the market in 2007. It still works today, there was a little upgrade and I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on it. It's great. Vintage computers are perfect for older video games and work perfectly. A great video that brings back memories. Like. 😍
If modern PCs want to meet the demand of consoles bring back disc drives and stop relying on Steam this is what future proofs a PC for good and not have to worry about an upgrade I would LOVE to see disc drives make a comeback it will definitely reduce theft and cybercrimes.
COME ON, the pc old. Even can restored and upgraded from windows 10!! Also, required upgrade for any item!! I know it everything, i tech computer bruh!! 😁👌🏻
Those old cases are pretty good for modern 65Watt CPUs and microATX boards. Just don't hunt for a very powerful power supply with many wires for GPU and other connections. Have something similar in my bedroom with relatively modern guts. 500W many thick wires non modular PS doesn't fit well so had to do a few iterations of cable management.
Low end system even for the day, should be easy to get a cheap CPU and GPU upgrade. Also not a bad idea to check the chipset thermal paste. I had that exact monitor too, thought I'd never need anything bigger! 😂
someone told me that when removing AMD cpus (non LGA cpus) take the heatsink loose and rotate it to try to break the seal from the old thermal paste before pulling up on the heatsink. I've done this and i can confirm it works.
Cause I was gifted a old computer similar to this one I put it working again using rest of other computers. The gpu doesn't work anymore but its a nice Athlon xp 1.25 ghz enough for windows xp. I even used the old hdds that kept as back up and I had all my old software there.
The monitor was covered in some "sheet" and its picture looks like "sheet". Unfortunately this setup needs a new GPU and HDMI or DVI-digital output. And here we hit the AGP bus dilemma 🤪🤪🤪
I have one, but I clean the computers using classic way because I want to show that is possible to do something without having some pro tools, many people want to repair or restore something but they don't have pro equipment, so I'm showing the classic way, available for everyone :)
@@ComputersAndTechAndAndrew you right my friend completely agree 👍 thanks for your channel I follow you long time ago I love how you restore consoles and PC's
I have the exact same Samsung Syncmaster 720N monitor but I removed the plastic case beause connectors are hard to get plugged in, looks slimmer too which I like, it is grounded so it is still perfectly safe
I replace bro, just I didn't record everything, just major parts, otherwise probably I will have 1TB of data for one video, but with just major parts I'm around 200-300GB :D
as a suggestion, before you clean the motherboard, place the cpu back into the socket, so that the pins are protected and you have a better handling when you clean the paste off the cpu.
Old computers are fun to work with but i never use the old monitors, people might say it ruins the experience i say its better and hearlthier for me to use a modern monitor even if it required me to use adapters for example from svideo to vga
Good video. I think is good idea for assembly working PCs of different times, for example "Gaming computer from 2010" etc, with software and hardware of this times. Maybe you will can to sell this computers somebody of your subscribers, who interested of this. In Russia we have similar youtube channel but I think abroad hardware much more accessible.
I have 2000s PC, is HP Pavilion Slimline s3000 series, Ebay still have but original spec, I have one of 3000 series and upgrade the spec with some part. I upgrade it with power supply, motherboard with itx size. So my s3000 will keep some original official factor spear part as backup. Oh I saw you have the floppy disk, now those 2000s kid wont know the floppy disk.....LOL , I still have the disc but the 3.5 floppy disk need to head to old mall to search, because they keep some old tech there. Forgot to tell you my s3000s motherboard has been broken but power supply and the other still fine :)
Yep, but it was very sudden. I remember we had many motherboards ( in computer store where I worked ) and they just stop sending new, then we heard what happened

Yesterday i saved an old comuter that was in the trash and rain i cloud save it and now is working if it was new ( nice video bro 😎)
@Cat and Andrew, Awesome. It is good to revive this type of equipment and even more so when it has sentimental value for the person. My admiration for your work bro and as always, greetings from Bogotá, Colombia
I wouldn't be able to say how many hours I played on Worms Armageddon. Lol, I even play it nowadays with my friends when we get drunk ^^
This PC looks exactly the same as the ones seen on the office map in CSGO/CS2!
I always enjoy watching restoring old PC like this,

My first PC! Had the same config, Pentium 4, 40 gb storage and 256 mb RAM!
Love it. Please do more retro pc restoration
Thanks for making this video, I remember old times when using my AMD Duron PC, that was my 1st PC ☺
Sadly, my last AMD was a K6-2. But I remember my wife had an Athlon XP, those were nice but damn hot.
Awesome video. It is nice to value the path behind us and feel what we have today as a result of work and research. I enjoy all your videos for detail and care for tech. Congratulations on your perfect work.
Wonderful job cleaning that old computer... What a blast from the past ... Thank you for sharing ...
Thank you for watching and the support :)

Dishwasher is a nice way to clean motherboards and pcbs in general. Have used multiple times for repairs. No detergent.
Yep but I go with a classic safe way, yes you can wash the motherboard with water but all needs to be dried and re-cleaned very well later
I like to dry them out in a very low oven. I've resurrected many components from the dead this way :)@@ComputersAndTechAndAndrew
great pick on music for this video yes I use to play and work on desktops like this very nice to see it again
I still have the same monitor I keep it as backup, it still works great. I also have 2 psu from that era 15-20 years old, still working great. They really knew how to build quality stuff back then.
I have one of these too. But now it's "pumping" because of a dead cap... =/
Watching this with 144p to somehow get back to the past.
Nice work, mr. Andrew
This pc can give memories for Noughty Kids (Those who are born in the early 2000's)

Great Job Cleaning this Vintage Machine. Thanks for the Video
Funny i was also building a windows 95 computer when you uploaded
Love your videos Andrew! That orange PCB 😍

Bro your genius I enjoy watching your videos very much and I learn a lot ❤❤

Awesome nostalgia trip.
I have this exact pc, different case front, but everything else is the same 👍

I remember this ECS, I have build computers using this motherboard, 4 RAM slots AMD CPU, but that was pretty solid motherboard
Great to remember old pcs :)
Good old times 😊 miss it
Very nice! Look into retro brighting if you do another beige case in the future!
As i always say: i enjoy watching all of your videos ❤ ... amazing content and always waiting for your next projects keep up your amazing work..
Great effort Andrew!
Great video as always
I miss Abit motherboards so much.
Thanks Andrew 😘
this video is very nostalgic 😂
10:17 Just Warcraft III
this type of cleaning/restoring is what i mainly do andrew.....now i still have to get that amd 64 rig put together.

good the pc can live longer.
Old times 🥺
God grief, its an Abit and the capacitors are all in one piece!
Great video, keep on the good work!
Nice video ! Greets from France
Wow it looks brand new. Well done.
Great job cleaning that system.. but that case is just dying to be painted.
Some paint job will be good, but I got request to keep it as it is
I am a big big fan. Love you man
those parts cant look anymore newer than this.
That was great. Of course I would have done a CPU upgrade that was too expensive in the early 2000s! BTW, the word tech is pronounced as "tek" 😊
COME ON, the pc old. Even can restored and upgraded from windows 10!!
Also, required upgrade for any item!!
I know it everything, i tech computer bruh!! 😁👌🏻

My PC is just identical with that on Video. But mine was built in 2008. Now is no longer use. I only use the HDD of it right now on Enclosure 😅

I have an old ibm pentium 3 xp machine I still use for some old games I have
Cool
Bro, you should replace the thermal paste on the South Bridge too.
I replace bro, just I didn't record everything, just major parts, otherwise probably I will have 1TB of data for one video, but with just major parts I'm around 200-300GB :D

Damn the thermal paste was never reapplied before
Nice
Thank youu :)

from what i can find abit vanished due to financial problems and debt
Yep, but it was very sudden. I remember we had many motherboards ( in computer store where I worked ) and they just stop sending new, then we heard what happened
I heard yellowed plastics can be whitened with hydrogen peroxide and UV light (sunlight in summer or artificial UV light).
❤❤❤
i know these kind of pc s were the last to be able tu run windows 98 se
Bro, WoW3 is exting clone that drive it worth millions
Yeah :D I got surprised when I saw that
Considering how fast computer technology is evolving, this model could be seen as "vintage" ;)
Great job, Andrew!
A LOT of ABIT motherboards suffered from inability to keep CMOS.
Is this one keeping CMOS settings?
Yes, I just change the cmos battery, but yes many of these motherboards had that problem
Looks like am4 socket.
Jadi inget komputer WARNET.
20 year old PC
I hope there was an SSD upgrade
