@RockedNet Brent actually helped pay touring expenses so they could tour. Shinedown never said anything but the lead singer made sure on a video that he did that for them. Another reason to love SD tell Gretchen. I thought that was stand up & now I understand why they had issues.
The "we came as romans" concert brawl thing was interesting and unfortunate. on the positive side. It's nice to see electric callboy finally be able to tour the US after several setbacks.
That is great to hear about Mike Portnoy, YEARS ago I got to see him do a music class talking about drumming and music. It was at a local college and just a blast to see such talent.
I think on a personal note, i was a bit sad when Derek Grant announced he was leaving Alkaline Trio after 22 years. But Jeez that Anti-Flag news was the definition of WTF just because of what their music stood for as you said.
My favourite album was a toss-up for most of the year, with Yo La Tengo and Depeche Mode being the front-runners. Then, André 3000 went and dropped that ambient free-jazz flute album, and that damn thing won me over on first listen.
Another one I’d add is The Beatles releasing Now And Then, which was their first “new “song since Free As A Bird and Real Love from the Anthology sessions during the mid ‘90s (the song would’ve been included on those albums but the recording of John Lennon that they used wasn’t that great so they scrapped it for a long time until Paul McCartney decided to resurrect it this year). The Beatles were the very first band I heavily got into back when I was 10 years old (I’m 24 now) and a big reason why I wanted to pursue music and play guitar (George Harrison being my first major influence alongside Eddie Van Halen and David Gilmour) so I was absolutely floored upon hearing the song for the first time, it’s an absolutely beautiful composition and a great way to truly end their musical career imo

The show wasn't even anything special up to that point either, no mention of past members like Eric Carr or special songs played, and not even much appreciation for longtime fans at it. They had the Empire State Building lit up in Kiss imagery for the occasion just to build up what amounted to a commercial. In a way, it's the mist Kiss-like way they could've possibly gone out

On the topic of bands breaking up...noise rock band Sprain announcing their breakup with a terse Instagram post almost immediately after releasing a 90-minute album, without any warning beforehand, definitely sticks out to me among this year's strangest events. Even more so when one of their members publicized that she'd been sacked from the band a few weeks before that announcement. Makes me suspicious as to what happened there...
Nuclear Assault's breakup was WEIRD, it was like a junior league version of this- out of the blue they posted a gravestone with the band logo on for maybe 10 minutes then scrubbed their existence from social media
A close friend of mine headed out to Blue Ridge and wound up having to bail *before* the events of the first day due to how bad the camping conditions were. Drove something like ten hours just to get there, too. Tells you something that it was a nightmare from before it even started and only got *worse.*
I finally got to see Sum 41 this year in August when they went on tour with The Offspring and Luke's favorite band, Simple Plan. I hope I'm able to see them again during their world tour, but if I don't, at least I got to see them before they left
My big 2023 moment was the announcement of MCR returning again to play Black Parade in full at WWWY next year. Been anxiously awaiting for them to pop up with something again after the reunion tour wrapped up. Wasn’t exactly what I was expecting but it’ll still be amazing to see and it gives me an excuse to go to my first festival and first Vegas trip! The rest of that lineup is amazing too.
@@mikeygraves16well the album that they were gonna release after Danger days was scrapped. When I saw them live last summer, Gerard announced that Make room! was supposed to be one of the songs on the album. They also released their newest song Foundations of decay last year.
I hope you’re right about new creed music. There are interviews from over the years that have them having written 8-9 songs together and mark sitting on a whole album worth of demos. There’s also like 2 unreleased songs that were played on sound checks back in 2012

A wild story that happened this year that I think flew under the radar would be Tallah kicking their DJ, Mewzen, out of the band after some unsettling grooming allegations came to light about him. Came completely out of nowhere and it certainly looks like it was the right decision by Tallah.
The Rammstein ordeal was indeed wild. I had bought tickets for their 2023 tour back in 2022 and was super-hyped that they were coming to Switzerland again. But then this mess came up... and while I can't say I was unaffected by the whole whirlwind, I still hoped their concert wouldn't get canceled, because their live shows are amazing. Lots of folks were asking if I'd still go to the concert, and yes, I did. And didn't regret it - epic, just like back in 2022. I still listen to their music, because I'm separating the behavior of the people (well, in this case: person) behind the music, and the art they created. I just hate how the media instantly behaved as if everything was a fact without any tangible proof...
Fortunately, at Blue Ridge, I was able to see JFAC’s and TRUSTcompany’s reunion shows. Unfortunately, as well as many other misfortunes that occurred while attending Blue Ridge this past year, the Taproot reunion show was a no-go. Plus, the new Green Day singles sound promising for their upcoming album. 😁
Ronnie Radke getting into the dumbest fights with people online including you. Trapt lead singer getting into beefs with content creators who have 5 followers lmao
The two glaring issues I've been personally hit by was the Rammstein one, first off. It goes back to the issue that has been discussed before - do I or don't I continue to listen to this band's material because of what is going on with them outside of music? It's difficult, especially with Rammstein. It was easy with Marilyn Manson because of the mountain of controversy that guy has piled up in his closet to begin with. I don't know with Rammstein, so I ended up shelving them for now. The other one is Anti-Flag and I recently had to break the news to a dear friend who loved this band and had seen them live recently in their home state. They were heartbroken at first, but understood that when shit hits the fan, you've got to move on from it. Well if sexual allegations is the white hot torpedo that's been nailing bands, can't wait for 2024 where things get heavily political. Joy...
it really is tough, especially when it is 1 member not the whole band. There are a few bands that I have struggled with after finding out a few things about their past... some are binned and gone, some are sticking around but certainly less shine on them. I think (for me at least) it depends on how defining they are for music in general or just for me.
@@mattyt1961 Oh for sure. Till Lindemann is synonymous with Rammstein, he's the most recognizable and prominent of the members. It's hard to revisit some bands knowing that the frontrunner appears to be the problem for the band. That's the part. If it was any other member of the band, when the overall band has proven to be better with or without them, then yeah we just move on from it. The best example I can think of is Megadeth, when Dave Mustaine told David Ellefson to get out of the bad for numerous issues. Ellefson might've been one of the original members that went through the band's highs and lows. But he's not the entire band, when people think Megadeth, they immediately associate it with Dave Mustaine and it would be an entirely different story if it was Dave Mustaine himself being ousted out of a band with a 40 year long career.
Justin Sane being a rapist was up there in craziest things to ever happen in the music industry. To me, it's second only to Kanye West becoming a fan of World War II Germany. I think "creepy behavior", "trying to hook up with me", "kept flirting with me", anything with an age gap as long as it was consensual adults, or any allegations/accusations are dumb, but Justin Sane clearly went above that threshold if his allegations are true. I both expect and hope that any musicians that put their hands on others or crossed the line of forcing themselves on women are brought to justice. Big music stars are always going to have creepy or weird moments, but actually putting their hands on others when they don't want to be touched is just downright awful.
Yeah, for now. But, the question is not about whether there will be more from these allegations, but whether there is more allegations in the future that we'll hear about.
This just in: New supergroup with Scott Stapp on lead vocals, Machine Gun Kelly on lead guitar, Wes Scantlin on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Aaron Lewis on bass, and Chad Kroeger on drums (he started out on drums)
Tbh the anti-flag stuff was very obvious to me: they're all pals with MGK, another infamous predator and abuser. The company you keep says a lot about you too.
Tbh, Mick Mars is the only member from Mötley Crüe I have some respect for. YMMV on Loyal to the Lie, but I enjoyed that single and I wish the man the best on his solo album.
I was pretty split on the Thy Art situation. Yes, the trans hate is wrong and stupid, but CJ then saying that children should not be sexualized, I also agree with. However after saying that, it turned the whole argument to "Thy Art supports trans and pedophiles" from edgelords, which is just weird
I’m a huge DT fan, and while I love Portnoy, Mangini is a better drummer - technically. Portnoy has attitude and personality, but Mangini is like a robot. Ironically Geddy and Alex have been thinking of playing again, obviously they can’t continue with Neil (I’m talking about Rush) and Mangini is one of the most robotic, and technical drummers out there.
I admit it took me an embarrassingly long time to leave the Rammstein subreddit because there was quite frankly quite a lot of disgusting whatabout-isms (Y’know stuff like “oh the Beatles had groupies and they’re one of the most beloved rock bands in history 🙄!”) and just general denial. I mean it’s still hard to tell on how much of these allegations are true but it was still gross to witness especially as a feminine person particularly since to paraphrase one person in regards to the Cosby case “one or two people could maybe lie for attention, but that many? No fucking way” so that factor still makes me kind of sus which especially sucks because I still like the music quite a lot
Nah that thy art decision wasn’t professional. No matter what you think of him that is his music (although not good) and going back last second to replace his vocals without his knowledge is fucked up.
Anti-flag are still touring tho which is wild. They recently headed to edmonton if the band is gonna condem Geever they should just stop touring like holy man. Its pretty wild
Between the Rammstein allegations and the Slipknot situation of Clown and Corey backstabbing Jay and in hindsight Chris Fehn, I lost respect for _2_ of my favorite bands of all time. It sucks so much.
I'm still gonna defend Til Lindemann. I don't think he really did anything wrong, I still think he's an innocent man. Also, Creed suck. Generic radio rock, that's what they are.
Hopefully next year in rock is a lot less homo/transphobic sexually abuse filled than this year... please? it is all I want for Christmas.... that and for that Mariah Carey song to be permanently removed existence but the first one will make me happy, the second would just be like a second serving of fluffy golden delicious pancakes....🥞
Till Lindemann really has fallen from grace. Going from one of the most handsome men in rock to one of the ugliest has to suck, but it doesn't has to be this way, look at Rick Springfield for example, 74 and still looking great. Lindemann is 14 years younger, yet looks like that creepy uncle that everyone just kinda tolerates and tries to ignore at family gatherings. My guess is that due to the sharp decline to his attractiveness levels, women are no longer throwing themselves at Till like they used to, so now he's getting desperate, and as a Rammstein fan myself, it's just kinda pathetic. To clarify, I don't think Till has done anything illegal, but sometimes what is legal is not always good and that seems to be the case with Till. His methods of "recruiting" women are just pathetic. He's a millionaire, how about he just pays them to get what he wants! At the very least, I'm glad to see Till at least managed to escape the allegations which likely were false in many ways, but I still feel he has a far way to go to really fix that reputation as being a creeper now, and I'm just not sure if he can do it. Rammstein has been together for 29 years, they're goanna end sooner or later and it's likely goanna be because of Till. At this rate, I'm doubtful if Rammstein will make it past 2030. Everyone still seems healthy, but Till's suspicious behavior might came back to bite him in the not so distant future. I still have respect for everyone in Rammstein and hope the best for the band going forward, but I'm skeptical to say the least.
@@kirr_ewene yeesh, yup there's for sure some strange gals in the rock world, the amount of people who still fantasize about Mick Jagger is genuinely concerning, and the less said about Ghost fan girls, the better. I can't unsee some of the stuff I've seen in Camden when seeing them live.

I love Anti Flag, I had no idea any of that happened 😔 oh the disappointment
Only some of these is true
@@nathanielbables8652but more than enough of it is to constitute a massive EWWWWWWW
Not the original lineup of Blink 182.
The fear of fear by spiritbox is the best album this year hands down.
Creed might just help the Minnesota Vikings win something if Kirk Cousins comes back
I was pretty split on the Thy Art situation.
Jay Weinberg was dope
Still is. Hoping to see him with Sui Tendencies later this year.
2023 really sucked. The fact that people are nostalgic for Creed speaks volumes. Can you take me lower?
I cannot wait for the 10 best and 10 worst rock and metal songs of 2023.
Unrelated but what happened to your head?
Brain transplant.
@@RockedNet dang really?
I think craig left on his terms. I think jay was fired.
Blink 182 is the classic line up, not the original line up. Travis is not an original member
Nah that thy art decision wasn’t professional. No matter what you think of him that is his music (although not good) and going back last second to replace his vocals without his knowledge is fucked up.
Who cares who tweets what but but bad festivals and allegations should be talking about more
Anti-flag are still touring tho which is wild. They recently headed to edmonton if the band is gonna condem Geever they should just stop touring like holy man. Its pretty wild
They are? Can you provide some kind of source pls? Didn't find anything.
@@mikaschwarzer1977if you search up anti-flag and go down to see events they're gonna play in pittsburg I believe on the 16th
@@mikaschwarzer1977I don't think this guy is spreading accurate information.
@@chesspunk489it was there on spotifiy where they where still touring even during the alligations search it up
gotta love the incel rammstein fans that would heckle anyone trying to talk about it
Is it just me or does it seem like shit is getting weirder and weirder every year, for rock?
Between the Rammstein allegations and the Slipknot situation of Clown and Corey backstabbing Jay and in hindsight Chris Fehn, I lost respect for _2_ of my favorite bands of all time. It sucks so much.
with the rammstein situation you didn't mention the keyboardist flake who was accused of the same thing till has been accused of.
I'm still gonna defend Til Lindemann. I don't think he really did anything wrong, I still think he's an innocent man.
Also, Creed suck. Generic radio rock, that's what they are.
“It is mam!!!!” LOL!!!!
Enter the Rammstein subreddit and see how many women are still "dreaming" about him.
Garbage can.
Creed sucks and Till is innocent!!!!
