    I hope you stay at it Chris! It's too easy for others to take cheap shots that reflect their own flaws. I've only recently found your channel and feel I've definitely learned from same. I can appreciate the time and expense (let alone frustration) you are experiencing. My Navy Blue 2000 (11,400 miles) retirement present to myself is awaiting the V-ramb2 and aftermarket exhaust coming up this summer. Your trials and insights inspire me. NEVER EVER use a plastic fitting in the cooling system They can get brittle and crack/break causing loss of coolant. Use brass or SS fittings. The one piece hose is a much better solution.

    Learning a lot from you Chris. This being my first Vette, I have few things to learn about Corvette’s. I’m going to be cleaning my throttle body and my MAF hopefully this weekend. Pretty crappy weather here in TN lately. Having had a 2006 GTO with the LS2, I know some of these things you’re doing to your Corvette.

    Coolant goes through the throttle body to help warm the engine, and is basically for emissions purposes, so unless you live in an area that frequently freezes up, just by-pass the coolant throttle body runs.

    Just an FYI, the purpose of the coolant flow to the TB is to prevent throttle freeze-up due to water vapor from EGR gases.

    • @awittypilot8961
      @awittypilot8961 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry patrick...that's not true...it is to heat the throttle body to meet emissions.....if you bypass it you may gain a bit of power because the entering air will be slightly more dense....

      @@randy2.0kitt I have no reason to lie. I worked for an auto parts store and i sold automotive paint. One of my paint customers had it, it wasn't been driven so he put it for sale. He originally wanted $9000.00 when he started trying to sell it. He desperately needed the money for taxes and as time went on he wasn't able to sell it so he kept lowering the price. When i bought it the car was missing the acrylic top but the frame was still there so it caused a terrible turbulence so i offered him $4500.00 instead of the $5000.00 because it shook so bad. He drove it himself and as mad as he was he let it go for that amount. The car isn't perfect but it is in real good condition. I live in texas, if you want it, i will sell it to you for $6500.00. Chris
    You are brave to do this job in summer, 108 man! I am in Phoenix too and too hot in my garage.
    I have a question, I have a C5 02’. Since we can’t get gas higher than 91, do a lot of folks use octane boost(104+)? I am getting some noticeable pinging. Does anyone else out there experience this with C5s? My plugs are new and engine only has 46k. The octane boost helps but does not get rid of it.

    • @mycorvettelife
      @mycorvettelife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is your motor stock? 91 should be fine. You can try octane booster to see if that helps, but it sounds like a different issue. Have you had your valve springs checked?

    • @donaldmiller3004
      @donaldmiller3004 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you used octane boost, look at your plugs now. That crap will coat your plugs with some orange coating. Just use chevron 91

    Hey Chris, I’m finally getting the chance to do this, is it a must to remove the TB to clean it? Is removing the intake to it and cleaning it on car a sufficient cleaning??

    • @mycorvettelife

      I would remove it. You don’t want any debris going into the intake manifold.

  • @GregorioLonewolf

    Just got around to this video Chris and I know it's from 4 years ago. But my battery terminals are also 8mm not 10mm???? Go figure. Coolant going thru the throttle body as you did say is for cold weather locations. This is 2022 and believe me most of us have been freezing as I was in the mid teens here. Bypassing the throttle body will give you cooler air passing thru giving some power gain but not really noticeable when driving. Unless you do more engine mods as you have. Good video btw.

  • @dankaitschuck4440
    @dankaitschuck4440 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have an 05 and I am having a starting problem. When cold it starts right up but after it has run even a little and sets for a time and I try to restart it the engine turns over but will not start for 3 to 4 seconds. I have tested the fuel pressure and that is not the issue (you can smell the fuel during that 3 to 4 seconds). It was suggested it could be the camshaft position sensor so I replaced it with a GM one and no difference. Wondering if the throttle body could be stuck and not opening right as the engine starts cranking? This is a very consistent problem of late and any suggestions as to what could be the cause of this problem is appreciated.

    • @mycorvettelife
      @mycorvettelife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like spark to me. Have your checked your plugs?

    • @dankaitschuck4440
      @dankaitschuck4440 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mycorvettelife Yes I have checked the plugs and all look great. I even put new spark plug wires in the car. I had a timing light on it for a while and would watch it as the car was turning over. I did notice at one of those times that the light was weak but once the car starts there is no problems. It runs strong, good execration and 25 MPG on the road.
