- The UI of Windows 10 is arguably very different from the UI of Windows 7. Many people still love the look and feel of Windows 7, however they don't want to use an out-of-date operating system. In this video, we'll be installing a Windows 7 Aero Theme on Windows 10, and seeing how much it impacts performance.

I'm still thinking that Old Windows are literally better than Windows 10 and i'm forcing to use it because of some Apps that i need...
You can run apps on Windows 10 that are meant for older operating systems using the backwards compatibility feature. You can find it by clicking properties on an exe file and finding where the "Backwards compatibility" tab is.

im forced to use it not only because of programs but because of pc compatibility

I just wish MS added the Aero Glass, or something more transparent for the entire borders and taskbar, I would love that.
Also, for some reason W10 struggles to keep changing colors while changing backgrounds on the theme for the taskbar, a thing that never happened in Windows 7.
Every year I feel like I want way more to just go to Linux, oh if my steam games weren't holding me back xD
you can theoretically play your steam games (and many others) using Steam Play (Proton) or wine
@@PCuser0137 i tried playing among us once with proton but it didn't work, it just had a black screen or crashed upon start. some other games worked (with less performance than on windows) and some didn't work at all. wish it was as easy as on windows, then nothing would hold me back

I wish there was a way to get back the Aero Glass Blur thing. Just like the thing OpenShell has. That beautiful blur has been so elusive for so long.

I hate the look of 10. It's grey on grey and the flat look means it's difficult to see window edges. It just needlessly increases the cognitive load in use.
i miss windows vista and 7, they were great and consistent, you knew where to find everything, and it wasnt complicated

I remember Vista, I have installed in a pc that meet the requirements, and was fluid. Even with the aero think.
i just need the transparent aero glass on the title bars and thats all i will skip the rfest part of the video! because i have never used windows 7 in my life and my pc will be a hybrid look and feel!

I think combining StartIsBack with Open-Shell should give you a good look, especially with the taskbar.
Hey! Windows 10 21H2 doesnt seem to work with these modifications anymore, do you have any updates on new ways to get the Aero Glass theme in Windows 10 21H2?
On windows 20H2 and 21H1 it doesn’t work for the areo glass on the bar!

I've been wanting to upgrade motherboards for several years now, but have stuck with my older Windows 7 compatible one mainly because all newer MB only work with Windows 10 and I hate the look & feel of Windows 10. This tutorial inspired me to go ahead and upgrade - I just finished my build and have successfully transformed the look. This is the only way I can stomach Windows 10. Thanks again!
Not close enough i want windows 7 as it was exactly how it was with the games and everything. I need it to be exactly how it was sown to every last 0 and 1 in the code to how my computer was in 2008 when i go it.

I will soon receive a new computer with windows 10 pro preinstalled. I have used win 7 on all my computers since its release and I am only now sadly letting it go due to severe security issues. Although your video is thorough and concise I have ADHD and I'm anticipating an A-class, days long cluster fuck trying to get my first time win 10 computer to function with a win 7 UI appearance. I was hoping it was going to be as simple as hitting the, apparently non existent "Windows 7 Appearance" tab. Dammit! I'll be coming back to this video once my computer arrives but at a first glance it looks like a hell of a lot of work to alter the appearance/UI. I'm VERY surprised to find out that I will have to download files to change the appearance. Can anyone offer additional advise? I guess when I get the computer I'll just watch this video at half speed and hope I can catch it all.

I feel that the original theme of Windows 10 is something like sending virus into our mind as I often had headache after using for acouple of hours which never happened in Windows 7.

Does this give us back the ability to change the default Windows application backgrounds? You could do that in 7. For example, when opening up something like an older version of Photoshop, the main workspace background will be blinding white. In Windows 7, you can go to "Window Color and Appearance" and change "Application background" to any color you like, as well as change title bars, scroll bars and fonts. After doing that, any program that uses Windows defaults will use the gray color, or whatever you selected, as its background.

I'm having an issue with the Areo Glass. it isn't working at all, all of the taskbars and apps are opaque still, even after i ran the installer, and restarted.
I never used windows 7, but I really like this mix of Windows 10 with a slight Windows 7 look.
I would recommend StartIsBack instead of Classic Shell as it changes the taskbar along with the start menu when using the Windows 7 skin.
but if you didn't wnat to pay for it, you should get open shell instead of classic shell. Open shell is supported and classic shell is not.

Didn't work, the patcher didn't restart my pc and when I clicked on the aero 7 clear theme only the wallpapers changed

Great tutorial, only problem is that everything is already outdated from the looks of it lol. I tried to install the UItra UX Theme Patcher and it did not work saying that my windows was not compatible with it. It was worth a shot tho.
Did you also read the error message? It said to visit their website, and down there is an up to date version that did work.
you should do this as a prank if anyone in your family does not know much about computer and see how long it would take them to notice it :D

Everything worked pretty well except for the explorer, it still doesn't show clear on the top bar, it got stuck glitched and I don't know what to do.

@Zac's Music Please refer back to when I said that it in fact does not work in the Windows 10 build of 2009 meaning that it may work in newer or older versions and the version included in the video.
Is it possible to add classic Window animations from win 7 aero?
I'm sure there's a way, however I haven't found this way. I have no clue how to change window animations

I wish microsoft released 7 with all new improvements inside its engine for modern hatdware. My fav and best of ms system. Lightweight, fast, intuitive comprehensive, visually great, stable and powerful. I miss you windows 7 😢

for some reason, when I restarted, an update had to be installed, when my laptop was done restarting, the aero theme has gotten rid of
EDIT: I fixed it but quick question, how do I make it full on transparent as it is limited to a color

How do you add some blurring to the titlebar and window borders? Windows 7 had that and it makes it easier to read the titlebar text.

why do you use 1909 when there are more recent updates?
Pretty sure I stated this early in the video. The VM was already on 1909, and I didn't know if the Aero worked on newer versions

MS should have included a Windows 7 Classic style interface with Windows 10. I never cared for Aero and didn't use it with XP (or Vista, whichever one was the first to have it). I used the classic (Win98 style) interface that was included in XP, Vista and Win7. I really miss that simple yet effective style. If anyone knows of a good, stable XP - 7 classic interface mod, please let me know. Even if it is payware.

Both are based on Windows 10, sooooo I think you should be able to customize Server 2016/2019.

You won't have to spend money on a new laptop. Worst comes to worst, you can reinstall Windows on your current laptop. However, you should just be able to follow these steps "in reverse" and it'll go away.

Download the media creation tool and have a USB flash drive. Go through the media creation tool, create your installation media. Then, restart your PC and boot into the USB

@KLT: Realistic Recreation beta 1 had the windows 8 images, windows 7 themes and apps and based on windows 10, it was just intended to be like an upgraded virsion of windows 7 like a modern windows 7 it kinda didn't have anything special
i will restart the project in summer and i will keep you updated
it will be based on windows 11, has special themes and brings nostalgia from windows xp too
Aero completly stops working after 1909 and right now it looks like development has stopped.
I would go an other route if you really want to go out on nice looks and buy windows 10 1609 Ltsc and then install Aero10 even if it is technically illegal or one other thing, if you bought 1609 ltsc, you can do the tweaks of Aero10 manually, that's the completly legal route.
Ltsc versions of Windows are Editions, that are supported for 10 years and 1609 ltsc still has 5 and if you didn't know, Aero10 is based on that.
And not ltsb, ltsc, 1609 ltsc is a quite rare version now.
To me the icons on the start menu with the blue background looks like windows eight and 8.1.
