    Blood codes are like a vessel to be filled. If you want to make an overpowered personal build , first choose your skills and weapon, then find the blood code that can bring the most out of them. That ensures you will be enjoying playing this way. Finally choose your veil that gains the most without slowing you down, unless you rely much on drain attacks or certain gifts. Some blood codes may only have 1-6 unique gifts to offer, but they can bring the perfect balance to a certain build. Every blood code can shine in many different ways if you take your time learning the game. :)

    • @yargolocus4853
      @yargolocus4853 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      important note. blood codes have 0-1 actual unique gifts that can only be used while on that code. You could use a blood code for it's superior base stats like assassin with it's baseline quick movespeed and great DEX, or you could learn all assssins gifts and equip them on darkseeker, who has the unque passive to return ichor from dealing poison damage.

    Actually, you can see the scaling on weapons via transformation. (I.e. heimdall chrome) only after you are about to transform it when you are prompted with one final "you want to transform weapon a to weapon a intensification"

    Thank you for your Code Vein videos. They've allowed me to better understand the game's mechanics and reconsider my stance on certain Blood Codes and Gifts I found straight up useless before. Thanks to these videos, I've come up with an excellent build for exploring/haze farming:
    Blood Code: *Eos*
    Weapon: *Queenslayer Bayonet Devour +10* (but I think I'm going to try with Libertador instead since it apparently has better base stats)
    Blood Veil: *Ivory Grace*
    Passives:
    *- Swift Destruction (Hephaestus)*
    *- Bayonet Mastery (Artemis)*
    *- Revenant's Hunger (Mercury)*
    *- Increased Gift Speed (Artemis)*
    Lower Actives:
    *- Overdrive (Assassin)* / *Ranged Impact (Hunter)*
    *- Adrenaline (Fighter)*
    *- Bridge To Glory (Eos)*
    (Last one is up to you. I like to switch between *Gift Prowess (Harmonia)* and *Restorative Offering* (for when I have a companion).)
    Upper Actives:
    *- Shadow Assault (Assassin)*
    *- Blood Sacrifice (Hunter)*
    *- Fusillade Rondo (Artemis)*
    (Last one is up to you. I like to use *Bloody Impact (Hermes)* to push enemies off ledges.)
    Enjoy your farming. * uses Mistle Root and disperses *

    Another note, it seems like weapon buffs (attack damage, venom, elements, etc.) do not scale in their effects. Ice weapon, for example, scales with Light (mind) and only ever adds 50 damage. What does change is the amount of time the buff is active for. D Mind makes the buff useful for a fight, B makes it last through a boss, and S basically turns it into a "set it and forget it" buff. S Willpower coupled with Blood Fest results in infinite Ichor provided you casually slap an enemy once in awhile.

    Your weapon defense DOES combine with your blood veil defense when guarding. Block while holding a weapon you don't meet the requirement for to find out easily
    Also, the reason you found a blood code that increased resistances with less stats is because you didn't pay attention to Willpower's increase to elemental resistances

      Naughty Neko Plays Also, if you are using a build that requires you to be mindful of mobility, (if you want that sweet dash instead of the gimpy roll) weight of blood veil matters a lot. For example, when using queenslayer, if using a one handed sword build, then your only option for quick roll that I'm aware of is noble silver. You get more options for quick roll if you use a bayonet, but that's kind of a given.

    The Queenslayer blood code has an exclusive active skill called "Final Journey", which increases your stats massively, but you'll die when it runs out (which is around 2-4min, and you don't die if you kill a boss or rest at a mistle). Weapon stats go from (ex.) 2700 to 4300 by activating Final Journey, which makes it the best possible stat increase in the game. Which again makes it the only blood code worth taking if you want to go for max damage, so trying to match stat scaling of blood code and weapon will not yield the best result possible.

    Summarizing it here to make sure I don't miss anything
    - Damage:
    Weapon damage:
    Match Weapon Scaling to Blood Code Scaling for the most damage
    Equipping certain passive Gifts increases Blood Code Scaling
    Gift damage:
    Higher Mind = More Light gift damage
    Higher Willpower = more Dark gift damage
    - Defense:
    To calculate incoming damage when hit:
    Uses Weapon stats when blocking
    Uses Blood veil stats when not blocking
    Vitality and Fortitude are barely worth mentioning

    to drain and parry and not your defense.
    I'm still very early into the game but one thing that really confuses me is one of the upgrade options for gear (transformation rather) apparently removes scaling from the items to boost Gifts?

    • @Trigonxv1
      @Trigonxv1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Each blood veil has a different parry window so you got to practice with it to get the timing. Enemies have different timings so you need to adapt to that as well, for back stabs it is a bit wonky but generally from my experience the backstab window isn't directly behind an enemy but more so a little off to the left or right of them

    • @yargolocus4853
      @yargolocus4853 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The best advice for backstabbing is to use a fast weapon. It seems to register much easier and if you fail, you don't have to wait a zweihander swing to try again. fastest one I've found is the Ice rapier from a certain dual boss. The other person already said that enemies don't actually sway from side to side during animations despite the looks, so easiest way is to hit when they resturn to neutral pose. The shield guys are the most easiest ones to practice backstabbing. They don't usually don't even attack you, giving you ample time to spin or dash behind them. They also don't have active side to side animations while blocking so they are consistent. Finally, their backstab spot is around right buttcheek, so start from their weapon side.

I went through the game only using support gifts and a hammer as i wanted to make a berserker style char able to withstand blows constantly while guarding and dish out damage and stun with the swing of my hammer. But i couldnt see much difference in veils with things that increase those abilities.

    "You'll do more damage depending on how closely you match the scaling of your weapon to the scaling of your Blood Code." is a misleading (arguably incorrect) statement.
    A Blood Code that has S scaling in strength will do more damage on a B scaling strength weapon than a Blood Code with B scaling in strength paired with the same weapon.
    Blood Code "scaling" is applied directly to your base stats. It's a multiplier. This multiplied stat is then used as a base to give bonuses to your weapon and veil (just like a Souls game)

    • @Andrewakira6
      @Andrewakira6 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      SpadeDraco he doesnt mean a B scaling weapon will do more dmg with a B scaling bc rather then a S scaling bc, he meant if you use a S strength bc it is best to use a S strength weapon

  • @amisfitpuivk
    @amisfitpuivk 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you're still confused:
    *Blood Code* = Your personality/physique. Your base class/playstyle. Sets your stats and 'max' weight limit.
    *Blood Veil* = _Scales off Blood Code._ Your armor, affects Weight. Has a built-in special weapon aka the drain attacks. Determines most spell/gift damage (lightning/venom/etc. buffs don't seem to be affected.)
    *Weapon* = _Scales off Blood Code._ Only affects Weight. No affect on Gift or Drain damage.
    Armor + The 1 Weapon you have out = Your weight. Low weight means Quick pretty blue dodges, the trade-off being you'd have to use a weaker weapon like a bayonet and a light Blood Veil with bad defense.

    Honestly, I was hoping for a bit more details from under the hood...
    All in all, the system works as such:
    Your level and your Blood Code scaling combined translate to a value. What Value? That's something I'd love to know as well.
    Then, your weapon and blood veil use that resulting value through their own scaling to determine their own scaling numbers.
    What I was hoping for is some actual details how much your level translated into mystery value through scaling would be and how much each scaling represents.
    Also, your scaling does go above S+, even if it isn't displayed. Tested it by equipping Atlas with 3 strength passives, 2 making is S+ and a third, while leaving it at S+, still increasing my damage.

    New player, picked this up on Gamepass. This guide was quite helpful--it's bizarre to have a game call something "scaling" and then not show you the numerical stats that are being scaled. One small quibble with the video, though--technically, on the blood codes, those letter values are really your stats, so it's not accurate to call that "scaling," correct? Unless I'm still misunderstanding (which is very possible lol.)

      @@lagideath If it works similarly to how scaling is explained in the video, then your Blood Veil drain doesn't affect your weapons blood drain. The Veil drain effects how much Ichor you get, when using a Veil attack. (It seems your max will increase by 2 every time, but the amount of usable Ichor you regain is probably variable.)
      Basically, your weapon's drain score is what you will get with a weapon hit, and your veil drain score is what you will get with a backstab/drain attack. (Not 100% sure on this, but that's what I'm guessing.)

    Your blood code don't really represent your stats, it's just a scaling system, a 'Multiplier' in short. Your stats are based on your blood veil and weapons, than Blood codes do the job of enhancing/weakening your stats by multiplying a factor. Whilst there might be players suggesting to enhance a particular stat in your build, that is not always beneficial because all the scales do multiply a specific factor, over building one would increase a particular stat to a certain magnitude, meanwhile weakened by other stats if you don't compensate it. For example. most melee players might focus a lot on strength, but disregarded the stats on Light gifts, this ends up increasing the maximal damage of the physical damage to a maximum point but weaken by the buffs. On the other hand, for someone who have even spread of stats with focus on strength and mind would truly bring out a weapons' damage without hindrance

    Personally i think the most confusing thing so far is the deciding if you get slow/normal/quick movement/dodges with each weapon since it seams tied to blood codes and both item and total weights but its not really explained or even mentioned by the game.
    And a bit how white gifts scale since most of them are buffs but you don't see any numbers for them, or if they're set and its only the few offensive white gifts that scale off Mind.

      @@templeknights ah, i didn't mean pickups, i mean equipped items, changing blood veils can change which movement you have with the different weapons. most rifles are usually quick but a couple of the 1 handed swords are borderline so they jump back and forth between normal or quick depending on code and veil (guessing its the same for some heavier weapons on the border of normal/slow). and that is the weird part since look at swords weigh, equip it as weapon 1, look at stats screen and the weight number is different and there is no indication for what weight classes goes into quick/normal/slow more than test equipping everything and see.

    Wait, to put it simply. There is no negative scaling which lower high base letter and having E in weapon still increases the base dmg/resistance but slightly? Let's say Rank A in code is 100 dmg and in scaling A is equivalent to 2.00 multiplier. My code gives A 100 dmg but weapon scaling is C. So I still benefit from weak scaling 100 dmg * 1.60 and no letter is 1,00 scaling which won't increase anything.

    • @yargolocus4853
      @yargolocus4853 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      light is mind, dark is willpower and skill is the attack of the weapon you are using. Bayonets are a bit tricky though, since they use gift triggers. Gift triggers are ichor using powers that come with the weapon, such as explosion of fire on a fire mace, or a blood projectile of a bayonet shot. Weapons with gift triggers have str/dex scalings for their physical attack, and mind/willpower for their triggers that cost ichor. Check your bayonet, and see if it has better mind or willpower scaling. That is the stat that determines bayonets shot damage, and Fussilade rondos too. You can further incrase weapon gifts damage with other active or passive buffs, such as bayonet mastery or flame buff. Experiment which ones work with bayonets. I like the STR requiring single hit buffers because they amp the whole bayonet shot.

      Its based off your Codes Mind or Willpower stat. I did some testing and that's what the Bayonets fire scales off of and it isn't affected by your Veils scaling. Some buffs and passives affect its damage as well.

    • @yargolocus4853
      @yargolocus4853 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      every weapon has str/dex scaling for their physical attacks. If a weapon has listed scalings for mind and willpower, that means the weapon has a gift trigger (on a heavy attack) that costs ichor and scales from those. This is every bayonet and some others. Check if it has better mind or willpower and stack that. Bayonets also work with most weapon buffs.

Also, why does a two part passive buff increase the same amount than a single passive buff? strength/willpower increases my strength to D+ but Strength only passive buff also increases strength to D+. You'd think since it's a buff ONLY for strength and nothing else it would have a larger effect... :/

      single stat boosts are weaker, but you can equip them with others. Of course you would always want to use double stats if you can, but if you wanted for example S+ Dex, you have to use 3 dex boosters on an A base dex. For me that includes a single dex booster. The single boosters are also acquired ealry on, which fits for the unbalance between early and late blood codes.
