I agree with Randy. I hope Randy still makes appearances on the channel now that u have full time help. Hes funny
Like an old musician used to say to me, we have $20k worth of kit in a $2k van going to a $200 gig, life
😂😂😂
Best two man setup I’ve seen to date, is a bucket truck and an f550 pulling a 24 foot dump trailer, in the dump trailer is a full size skidsteer, with grapple and stump grinder attachment, the dump trailer can hold tons of wood if you do logs last, and you’re not dumping 10 times a day, rural Minnesota with free dumps, that’s the best way. When you need to use the lift you just use a 1 ton to pull the lift on a trailer, and the f550 with the same setup as mentioned before. 2 truck, 2 man system.
There is no philosophical problem with this at all. Hire an accountant. Do your depreciation right. Section 179 deduction may help. Capitalize the cost of equipment and depreciate it over its useful life. Do your accounting folks, there is absolutely nothing wrong with using $300k of equipment on a job that pays $2,500, you just need to do lots of $2,500 jobs over time. 👍
Accountant in another country agrees, heh.
The difference between men and boys is the price of their toys!!! WOW!!! Very impressive and you are blessed
Enjoy your new toys!
Men don't waste money on toys
Please keep Randy around, hes awesome!
That log was a mouthful but the chipper took it just fine. Also your stump grinder chews up the stumps great. Nice equipment. Glad you are doing so well.
I'd stay close to guys like Gordy. Good council and wise council is priceless!
Im praying for you Jake!
Jesus is King
The empire grows 😊
a cap on that dump would make a monster chip truck. My vote would be dump pulls the chipper, bucket truck pulls the equipment trailer, make a second trip to come back for logs. Honestly, I see a new rearmount bucket truck with an elevator and no chip box in your future! Keep up the good work Jake!
A 20’ or 22’ tilt deck trailer should have enough room to haul both the avant and the stump grinder. You could also use it to haul a track lift if you get one in the future. Stay safe out there.
i have an 18' equipment trailer i use to haul a carlton 5014 and a bobcat mt55. being able to move 2 pieces of equipment with one truck and trailer is soooo convenient
I have a 22’ tilt deck we haul a kx040 excavator and a sm110 with grapple on. Works flawlessly
Good idea. He's got a dump truck. No need for a dump trailer any longer.
You could get a box fabed for the top of the dump truck that could be taken off with pins and on rails so it'd just slide on and off the bed. Business coming along good one I work at been it it almost 50 years dont even have a mini skid so that's alot of progress
By the way that was a Robin's egg. It's great to see you doing so well and getting yourself some proper equipment you certainly deserve it. Next up knuckle boom.
When you first showed that tree first thing I thought was wow there's a lot of brush in that thing. And after you got it chipped it proved it. Great video as usual!
agreed on the robin egg !
I have several large trees to cut but I’m living in Wisconsin. The trees are yours if you ever come here. Love your videos.
WE had Leylands Cypresses on our front lawn rather than a fence.
I got them from Parks, online.
I didn't realize they could grow that big.
WE sold the house 11 years ago and moved to Ferndale,WA.
Yikes!
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Awesome to see the business grow 👍
Ya, that attachment would make a great boat anchor.
2 man crew is where its at
that depends on what kind of jobs you get, here in vegas access is the issue lots of material with tight gates we use a 6 man crew to keep material moving
Only if the other man is Randy (and his dog)
I agree. But 285 thousand for that little piece of crap is way too much money. Way way too much.
@@christopherw4527 I think that was for all the machinery on the job not just the loader, imo the little piece of crap did a great job.
2 live crew😂
The more equipment you have the more options you will have . Transportation of equipment to jobs , work area at site , leaving wood and brush or hauling away . A larger trailer that will haul multiple pieces of equipment , and also haul away wood would be good as long as it will make it into the site .
Could you have your fabricator install side doors on the chipper truck? Then you could chip from the side if there isn’t room for the truck and trailer together.
Man good for you getting all this nice equipment. As a person who has had my own business for just over a year now I can respect what you are doing!
Using the two trucks together is the smartest thing to do Jacob - using a ramp into that dump truck isn't very smart and could be dangerous - great job on the tree - it's fun watching the owner of the tree service being the ground Man - 👍👍👍
That stump grinder is awesome
You have the right idea, less people means less payroll taxes and workers comp.
The more you can mechanize the better.
You gotta get a roof on that dump truck to chip into. Super nice truck!
It's there, rolled up in front by the cab.
Great video! A quick tip for when operating the Avant, use the attachment point pivot to pick up brash to feed the chipper (right and left on the joystick) rather that dropping the boom up and down, you'll find it much smoother once you get the hang of it. Hope it helps!
So much "HOW DARE YOU!!"S GOIN ON!! me and lord Peg up north here LOVE IT!!!
How about a spider next- so much incredible equipment out there over the last several years
You could build a lightweight plywood top for the dump truck that is easily removed for logs. Great video
For non Washington residents, Jacob was listening to Classical Music KING FM out of Seattle when riding in the truck back from his house 😊
I'm a fabricator and I just finished making a removable top for a triaxle dump truck that's owned by a local tree service. You should definitely have a top made for that Chevy! Removable would be an issue for you where you don't have a big machine to take it off the top of the truck... but still, definitely get a chip top on that Chevy. Also, I agree with what others are saying, 20' tilt deck or even a regular trailer with ramps to put stumpy and the avant on. One shot both machines are at the site
Congratulations buddy, you made it! Glad that the business is flowing
I’d sell the dump trailer and buy a long flatbed trailer for the Avant and grinder! you could stake side the flatbed to carry long logs too
Business is good, happy for you!
Hello Jacob, Congratulations on the growing success of your business. Been watching your TH-cam channel since you working out of the Jetta. Full time employee and equipment you have now is the rewards from hard work. Very best to “Guilty of Treeson.” Thank you for sharing. 🌲
Damn…you’ve come a long way…deservedly! 👍
It's a great machine that definitely helps out the groundwork and helps relieve the stress on the ground crew.
we use one with our tree service, it is indispensable especially in the heat ❤
Blessings and aloha
Get with Pulltarps on a different tarp for the dump bed. You can get an electric opening/closing tarp that will make it a lot easier to get it covered to chip into.
IMO I don’t think ramping into the dump truck is a good idea, it’s to high/steep and the ramps will be a pain to carry around, running a two truck system and putting the equipment in a trailer might unfortunately be the way to go.
I agree. Sell the dump trailer and pick up a nice equipment trailer to haul the grinder / avant / storage
3.is better your ground guy would help keep it clean faster.
I don’t think he needs to sell the dump trailer, but an equipment trailer with side load ability would be ideal for carrying both.
@RickF1558 keep the dump trailer, and save up for the equipment trailer
No ramps, instead consider a hydraulic lift gate maybe?
i remember the shaking of getting used to operating an avant (21:00), very quick reaction times on that machine.
My friend has an avant for his tree service, that add on kit is nice but we ended up cutting off the pusher portion. He also cut his winch arm back flush to the infeed shute for easier loading.
One thing that I would recommend trying is a toro dingo tx1000 wide track with a branch manager grapple. I work for a decently large tree company in Pennsylvania and we have both dingoes and the bobcat equivalent to the avant. The dingoes are much handier than the articulating wheel loader. Especially for feeding the chipper. Dingoes are much faster and more adaptable
A longer deflector on the end may help keep (aim) chips in the truck better
Always fun to watch! Thanks much for the videos!
I turned 56 yesterday and am still climbing Trees
So happy to see you doing so well
another great video. you & Isaac make a great team. congratz on the dumpy. your tree service really coming along nicely.may you continue to excel.
Get a retractable dome roof for the dump truck. Put a winch in the front of the box to help pull equipment and logs in. Custom Make the Avant tree arborist attachment clip on and off easily
Nice to see someone passionate about what they do, making it happen! Been fun and inspiring, as fellow small business owner, watching you incrementally building the business with the intentionality of efficient systems. You have a neat little operation going- thanks for sharing your experience on TH-cam for us!
If you want to ramp equipment into the dump truck you should consider putting kelderman air ride on it so you can dump the bags and lower your loading height and angle.
The UK is full of these trees. "Coney bashin' " is a common phrase used when working on them. All the kit looks great man. Keep up the good work 👍
great equipment you got there and great view of the chipper working thanks
Nice to see you doing great, and nice equiptment 👍🏻😃
Awesome video. Great channel!! Thanks for the equipment review 👍🏻👍🏻Congratulations on doing well!! Stay safe 😁😁🍀🍀
Love the stump grinder addition!
I can tell when Isaac is wearing the gopro because its like 10 inches higher. 😀
I think Cyprus is what we call Macrocarpas in NZ. They grow massive here, it wasn't till you mentioned they don't reseed naturally that I realised that. The wood smells aromatic as.
The little green machine is strong and the operating skills are coming around, good job
Yoooooooooo I love it. seeing you killing it small crew is where it’s at.
Another Great Video Thx Jacob / Guilty of Treeson ❤
I love seeing that your business is growing. I hope you can pay the equipment off and start swimming in all that cash you bring in. Hard work pays off.
Enjoyed this vid. The Avant is a really good way to save your back so you can enjoy your life as a senior citizen when the time comes. Good choice on becoming full service Jacob. As always, wish you much success and enjoyment down your pathway.
Wow, you've come a long way !
The Avant is a very cool machine.
Cool to watch your company grow. Let me know when you're over on the west side, love to meet you on a job. Keep cuttin'!
Hey man on Zacheus 's channel he uses ramps to put his mini excavator in the back of his dump truck. Actually seems to work well, plus its way heavier than the avant or the stump grinder. So the weight and ramp angle should be no proble. Maybe check him out and he may be able to tell you where he got his ramps. Set up looks nice man!!
@Guiltyoftreeson couple recommendations, one is a big enough flat bed equipment trailer where you can store your attachments and equipment on, two for the dump truck i would do fold up arms where the pivot up to about a right angle with netting and a notch at the top of them for the dump bed net to set on so you dont have to constantly have to adjust chips, you have 2 dump bodies that can handle everything just not the right trailers just yet in my opinion and also so if you can get an controled chute where its electronicly adjustable personal opinion i think would make life easier to control where the chips go
the only good thing about them conifer trees is to see the thick end going in the chipper then walk away they rarely snag
Nice video as always! :-) You could have that "tree-pushing" tool on its own quick couple. It can be handy sometimes. Maybe make a holder for it on some of the trucks so it always is available when needed. You should also have another grapple. There are special kind that works better with branches. They have open ends like nails. So it penetrates the branches easier, leaving less on the ground each time. Greetings from sweden!
YES ANTHOR TREE JOB YEAH
I'm not a pro but have so much foliage/trees on my property it seems full time! Then at age 64 a miracle happened -I got a new neighbor that works at a rental place and brings home almost anything for free on weekends- Thank God!
I have no idea why those lines occur randomly on my comments WTF
How do you price these jobs
@@Horatio1886buildIf you add dashes in your TH-cam comment, everything between the dashes is formatted with a strike through.
I'm just now realizing I could lift my dump truck up to chip into it. Thank you Treeson I honestly did not think of that until watching this video.
I just went to Seattle for the first time last week, pretty cool seeing REAL trees finally lol.
I’m in San Antonio, our trees are pretty small in comparison to yours.
It’s like 80% Live Oak here.
Dude Iove chipping. There's something about it just zoning out and watching the branches disappear. I forget to take breaks and usually go until my chipper runs out of gas.
Build a topper for the dump truck. Build it right and you can use it for multiple uses including chips and hauling wood and equipment. Just a thought. Glad to see your business expanding. 👍👍
Nice set up man! You have come super far in the 4 years I have been watching.
Some would say wasted space on the dump truck sides. But goin over with the avant is great. Beats pushin it in from the back.
I get your concept. Dump truck +chipper+gear in dumpbox= standard job/ Forestry Truck+ dump trailer with gear in it= technical job, Both trucks with trailers= BIG job all gearz in 1 haul..
The empire is growing!👍🏼👍🏼😃
Need some 6’ sides for that dump truck 👌🏻🤘🏼 glad your having success brother 🤘🏼
Jacob,
All the best for a great 2024 and beyond. Stay safe!
Been watchin since the beginning glad to see you got your own business
Needs more Randy.
See we have a bucket truck we have two chip trucks one stump grinder a chipper and we Haul everything by hand any tree we take down we're loading it by hand it don't matter what size it is so it just depends on how hard you want to work a lot of people don't need all this equipment now the equipment is very nice to have I wish we had it but it comes with a price God bless everybody stay safe
you need to get a equipment trailer
Stay safe out there
A few suggestions if i may. 1. Clam shells for grapple. 2. Hard Chip top for dump truck. 3. Diesel 18" chipper (1890xp for massive pulling). 4. Another guy ( 3 man crew is where it's at)
I chipped into an open box for years, made less of a mess if you got the box a couple feet before chipping. I like your ideas for towing. I think it sucks fmi dropped bandit but excited to see someone close by using the morbark
You have a great setup there 👍🏼
Can you do an updated video on what saws you have and use?
Awesome job
Get ramps long enough you’ll be no more than 15* angle and you’ll be fine. I haul equipment on a tandem flatbed truck every day. Bed height is 51” and dovetail and ramps are 14’ total. So you should be able to get smaller ramps with a lower truck
It's almost looks like a Robin egg
Nice set up!!! Maybe in all your free time you could set up apparel sales on your website…..
I would absolutely buy that sweatshirt, and in your line of work I’m sure you could come up with some very catchy fraises and advertise at the same time.
I think you need a Johnson bar to jack up the logs to get them off the ground so you don't damage the chain. It won't do really big trunks though. I don't know if you have a peavey to roll them. Use a base plate of some kind so it doesn't dig into the ground. No more than 18'' wide. If you can't get an aluminum one, most times any scrap piece of plywood will do.
I cut my spikey push thing off. Now I still have the portawrap on the grapple but that other stupid thing isn't in the way. Best of both worlds
Put some side boards on it, 2-3 2x6 tall on front of the bed, and same on the sides to about halfway, then step down to 2, then to 1.
You gotta practice you feed angle with the machine.come in straight to the feed wheels and turn out as close to the chipper as you can. Be more center biased with you brush grabs to give you length to keep your grapple away from the winch.
great job just amazing job! neat equipment to minimize the needed for a big crew, where is Randy?
he is a great back up, and knows the system! keep up the great videos, they are so informative
on how to do it, and best of all safely ! yes those were huge growth rings! eastern trees are about
1/8 of an inch! per year. have a great day and good luck with your business.
I have the Avant 635 with branch manager grapple same chipper but its the 1821 gas. same problem with hitting the fairlead, but I question do I need the winch on the chipper anymore. I constantly use the branch manager to push trees in desire direction and rig wood off of it. love you channel. Be safe take, time when needed.
Would love to hear others comments on this problem
Very cool.
35:32 I hope you didn't get too many chips inside of the truck... Seeing how the driver's door is wide open! 😱
