You don't need a butter knife or a screwdriver or any fancy tools to do this. If you have that little lid that covers the jumper pack, just use the corner of that thing. It really is that fucking simple.

If memory serves me right (lol) the booklet that comes with the expansion pack says if you lose the removal tool it comes with, try using a u.s. nickel
I dobut that would work very well. Not enough leverage.
So are those the things that go onto the conrtoller? Or is that something totally different?

Found my jumper pak with a big yellow sticker on it saying that it was sold for $2. I guess that also explains why there was a sticker on the back saying the console was sold for $20. Someone also wrote their name on the bottom with sharpie.

One thing I never removed. I never got an Expansion pak or any of the games that needed it for that matter. I think by around that time I had moved on to PS and Final Fantasies. ^_^
My first N64 has the Jumper Pak in there still, but my second one has the Expansion Pak.

Can you leave the expansion pak in for games that don't support it or do you actually need to put the jumper pak back in for those games? (never owned an expansion pak)

Also what's the difference between a Jumper Pak and an Expansion Pak? I have both for some reason.
The Expansion Pak increases the RAM power of the N64. Several games utilize, although most don't require it. There are three games that do require it though, Donkey Kong 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask are completely unplayable without the Expansion Pak, and Perfect Dark's single-player campaign and most of its multiplayer is unaccessible without the Expansion Pak. Of note, Space Station Silicon Valley can not be played if an Expansion Pak is in the N64 system due to a glitch.

Alternatively, you can also just use one of the corners of the jumper/expansion pak cover to get the jumper/expansion pak out.
Wont that just magnetize it and ruin the Nintendo 64? I have a Gameboy that doesn't even work anymore because I had it in a plastic bag with some change. So my question is... have you tried playing it now after you did that with a butter knife and does it still play okay?
Why would it magnetise it? It's metal touching plastic.
@@anzaca1 but the microchips inside it are metal. I don't know. I have tried this and it works. You could also use a popcicle stick or something,
Good news: This method works.
Bad news: This isn't the problem. I can only seem to get one game to work. (If I balance the 64 correctly on my leg.) Thankfully it's one of the two games I don't intend on ever selling unless there's a remake and/or an expansion. The bad news is, the one other game I don't ever plan on selling (unless...) that's not working is Yoshi's Story.
One of them that doesn't work I have sentimental value for, and I think the other my husband has sentimental value for, but we already have those games three times and I dunno how much sentimental value is worth compared to what looks like around $50 for holographic Majora's Mask when I already have the HD and the collectors versions. Same with OOT (that we have the plain gray cartridge for, so I dunno how much collectors will be willing to pay for that version. If they want the game for the game, there's emulation or the 3DS version.)

Its kind of weird though cause Perfect Dark is still a really laggy game even with the expansion pak.

Nayak the expansion Pak is like a booster for the n64 cause it doubles the graphics, memory and more. Games like DK64, Majoras mask and perfect dark cannot run without it but the jumper Pak isn’t like the expansion Pak. No double memory or graphics and no dk64, Majoras mask and perfect dark so with jumper Pak it’s just normal n64.
I need help removing it. It won't come out because it is wobbly and it's really hard to take it out. I tried using the butter knife but it won't come out. PLZ HELP IF U CAN! ;(

does the jumper pack save the games? i have two games that arent saving to my N64 or memory card that goes to the controller. those games are Super Smash Bros and Diddy Kong Racing. i was told i need to repair the memory system on the consol. is that what the jumper pak is?
