Fascinating to think about the rise of Spain winning the Euros and World Cup through 2008-2012, which are the exact years that Pep was manager of Barcelona. He then goes to Bayern Munich and in 2014, Germany win the world cup. His presence and shift to England (along with Klopp's) has undoubtedly brought an influx of elite managers who are eager to prove themselves in the EPL as well. While this does not reflect a major tournament win for England, one could argue the England side is the best it has been in recent years. It's probably all a coincidence, but it's definitely something I've thought about. 😅
Very valid points mate. Surprising that no pundit has ever talked about this... also sad that the Middlesbrough gaffer couldn't capitalize on the foundation work that Guardiola (& Klopp) did :|
@@arindamchugh649 Because everyone wants to say he bought the wins.. He spent billions to improve his team.. Can he do it in stoke.. All those stupid reasons
that's an interesting point. Pep also (unconsciously) help find the likes of Saka since Arteta has learned lots from Pep about tactics and also scouting for players
That Spanish team definitely played like Barcelona and had many Barca players.. even the then German coach Joachim Loew said that they were hard to beat as they played like Barcelona after Germany’s loss to Spain in 2010 WC semifinals ..,
Unreal. Not to try to minimise the effort that obviously went into making this but would love to see the same sort of break down on the tactical evolution of other coaches eg Conte, Klopp, Potter, Gasperini etc
I think it's easier to make such videos for Guardiola because he has consistently used the same tactics for years with just a few tweaks here and there. And his ways have been effective and revolutionary. Most of the other coaches keep changing how they play depending on the team and not on a consistent basis.
Would be nice if Pep writes an autobiography of his footballing adventure and the various tactics he employed at different leagues at different times. Would be a top best seller for decades ig.
Imagine being so great that people are hating you for your greatness yet their teams are copying your philosophy even at academy level! They said pep cannot do it in england. Now everyone is doing it like pep lol.Pep is the most influencial coach of the 21st century tactically. When a guy like De Zerbi comes out and say he became a manager trying to emulate what pep did with barca, it says a lot. Not to mention those who worked or played under him like Kompany, Ten Hag, Arteta, Xavi and very soon Gundogan (Who is said to have the best coaching potential of all of them)
This is what delusion looks like, pep is not even a top 4 manager. Whole career he's been a groupie coach hoping to dominant teams and splashing cash but hey he swings his hands on the sideline like a choir master

People always said that he is only great because he already have great players and resources everywhere he goes, but people should know that to be a great manager you have to be good in man management and lead the team, get their respect. As you can see from PSG where huge amount of money and many star players are never enough
It's such a lazy excuse especially when you see how other managers and clubs have wasted millions, if not billions. Sure, he spins his silks with gold, but it undoubtedly takes a master craftsman to work gold into the threads.
Pep has clean slate with City. He built this team bottom up and they haven’t peaked yet. Staying the longest at city is indicator he want to build legacy. I honestly believe he will play an evolved version of total football with way tactics change in between game. The focus on defensive ball playing profile centre back will make it easy to rotate positions and if defensive is solid in their game the attack will be more potent. If the 30min of second leg of Real Madrid is anything to go buy it flashes of what is to come. Phil Foden under Pep is one of potential to become best player of England. To say Foden will be heir to David Silva position show just highly he views him. This also includes Stones as well for years he saw potential to play as Liberio role. Something not mentioned is the academy at City. All youth division at Man City all play like first team. Positional play is taught and Premier league team won three titles in row but guess what this was EXACTLY the same with 3 youth team below all doing 3 peat in bounce. Rico Lewis has be able to adapt when promoted to first team because culture is the same down to grass roots. The vibes is La Masia 2.0 exists and with CGG model City are gearing up to dominate. This has been in the making 10 years since academy was rebuilt across the stadium.
My unpopular opinion regarding Guardiola (who I consider to be one of the best managers of all time, despite being a Real Madrid fan) is that his Manchester City team has a lot more merit than his Barcelona team. Yes, his Barcelona team is his most iconic and it has a great case to be considered the best club side of all time, but he already had most of the pieces when he was promoted as coach from Barcelona B. His greatest merit is promoting Busquets and Pedro, re-signing Piqué and Cesc, and the transfers of Alves and Villa. Other than that, he already had Valdés, Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Henry, Eto'o, etc at the club, you can even argue that Busquets and Pedro would have been promoted anyway. Let's not forget Puyol, Xavi and Iniesta were key pieces of Spain's 2008 EURO title and that Messi was already a BDO nominee before Pep's arrival. While it's true that Guardiola has had an unlimited check book at Man. City, for me it is very impressive how he has added most of the pieces himself. Ederson, Walker, Stones, Dias, Laporte, Cancelo, Rodri, Bernardo, Sané, Mahrez, Gabriel Jesus, Haaland, Grealish, Álvarez, etc have all been signed by Guardiola, and most of them have improved tremendously under him, becoming essential in the domestic success of Man. City. For me, this has a lot more merit than a job where you inherit most of the players and then take them to glory.
Fair take but I disagree. Barca were in shambles when he took over. They had senior players who were underperforming in Ronadinho, Deco etc. Even Xavi was set to leave before Pep convinced him to stay. I think letting go of the big names and trusting others like Xavi as well as young players like Messi should not be underappreciated. Instilling the discipline, hardwork and tactical revolution that turned Barca into a reference point for football whilst being relatively inexperienced is his biggest achievement imo.
You are wrong, another coach would not have promoted Busquets and Pedro to the first team, when they were homegrown players who had not played in the first team, they would continue betting on those who were already there. Guardiola was not scared by putting a veteran like Yaya Toure to put a youth player like Busquets.
Definitely going to go down as the greatest coach of all time by the time he's done; really needs to stop overthinking/bottling in the Champions League though.
9:00 so Flumenense style of play is terrible for stopping counter attacks since the players can roam anywhere in that team. Positional play seems to be the logical way to play football.
Wasnt it Guardiola who played Mascharano as a CB even though he was a central midfielder as he likes a ball playing CB, which is how he sees John Stones now
I cannot see Pep getting away with a season like Klopps at all & that's the pressure this man has been facing every year. He just cannot miss for a single season. if he wins it was about the Money, great players but never him. Him & Mourinho are the only 2 Managers with Haters. I've never heard anyone say " Ancelotti only won with great teams, he spent a lot , " SAF Kept on spending more than other managers for 20 years" , "Klopp has spent 800M+ on Liverpool but u never hear that ". Still needs to spend 300M+ to get something. But Standards are way up. Winning while playing great with that pressure is immense..
Yeah that's not true. Sir Alex had/has the most haters (Arsenal fans, Liverpool fans, City fans, Chelsea fans, and for some reason a lot of Pep/Barcelona fans who try to diminish what he did lol). The truth is any record signing or big signing that Sir Alex made (Veron, Rio, Andy Cole) were all thanks to his own hard work when he re-built United from the ground up from 1986 to 1990. He ensured that the new scouting network was setup, the new youth academy was in place, and Carrington training facility was state of the art at the time. His initial success winning the PL and FA Cup came with 7 youth academy players. And if you look back at his press conferences, he was held to such high standards that even with the rule of "limited foreign players" allowed in UCL squads, he was expected to win the UCL every season or else his season was considered a failure.
@@shahzadirani never see him getting the hate like Pep's getting & I've never heard a single man in u.k or anywhere who said "united's failure if they Don't win UCL every season" but rather i heard he has a fantastic Domestic record which he did have. He's built he team & it took him years, currently i Don't see a Manager getting so much time to work on his team year after year. Just like players wanted to sign for SAF due to his work, there's a long list of players who joined city just because of Pep as well. I've never seen someone discrediting SAF even 20% in comparison to Pep.
WOW. I can't believe that someone on this planet is actually implying what Klopp has had similar to what Pep has had. Do you seriously think Klopp comes close to Pep's spending? Do you want me to show you the data showing how stupid this comment is comparing Klopp to Pep with his resources? Stop fanboying tryng to be create something to be outraged about.
I want to downplay his achievements because i support Manchester United but he really has launched City to the next level before him they weren't the dominant force they are now. Especially one that is so hungry for winning it is scary.
It's not just about the money guys. Other teams have a bigger spend than City in recent years. City just scouts better and plans better (a la consistent manager & plan w/ Pep). I love how Tifo broke down Peps evolution as it mirrors what typically happens in an FM Save. Carry over tactics from old teams, build great scout network, build 2 teams in one squad and have players play about 25-28 games per season to maximise fitness. But really though. This is one of the Best vids from Tifo. Maybe remake with animations for the main Channel
It has a lot to do with the money. The moneys spent well, but the money is definitely a factor. You can say other teams have spent more recently (very recently) but some of the charges against them are about them hiding their expenses
"It's not just about the money guys. Other teams have a bigger spend than City" These people actually exist. I see them now and again. It's an actual real person typing this tripe and believing it. The massive scale and extent of their financial fraud was already revealed but these automatons will still carry on saying the same tired nonsense.
Fact: Man City have been accused of financial fraud, reporting more earnings than they actually had, allowing them to expend more money. Also a fact: Man City have spend, regardless of that, less than Chelsea and Man United during that period of time. Both true
Although City are an oil club and have been boosted with their money, as a united fan I have to give city credit because they used the money to bring in the right people, develop the academy and bring in a world class coach like Pep. Teams like PSG and Chelsea are examples of that you can have money, but if the right people arent in place then the money is just going down the drain
Great video, really interesting to see how Pep's evolved his tactics, understanding and coaching over time. Hopefully Arsenal, Liverpool and United can create new problems for City next year, because its always fascinating to see Pep's attempts to counter them.
love this style of video, made my evening when this popped up. very interesting and spot on analysis. you also predicted exactly what he would go on to do to beat arsenal the other week.. impressive
A great analysis video of his evolution, it is good to see as a visual supplement to the athletic tactics podcast where they discussed this bit of history as well. Particularly enjoyed the way his midfield changed from more of a diamond into a box, is there a benefit to this shape over a diamond or is it more a matter of him having Haaland who is better as a striker pinning the opponent CBs compared to Aguero/Jesus who can play a false 9 role?
the sorta centre back at fullback concept combats the wingers that are wide strikers within the setups that have become more popular in recent years, the centre half joining the midfield minimises the amount of ground that needs to be made up when they are actually hit on the counter, the box midfield overloads the 3 man midfield that’s become more popular in the league in recent years so they can dominate, all whilst supporting a striker that doesn’t contribute much to the possession, makes his team’s ridiculously difficult to compete against
I also like the way Pep has persevered throughout the years when it comes to the Champions League. His teams almost always lose due to being caught on counterattacks. Instead of going defensive with his tactics, he's actually enhanced his team's control by adding an extra defender without compromising his attack. City play with four defenders, with only Stones being really good on the ball, and that has nullified opponents' abilities to expose City when the latter doesn't have the ball. Compare that to someone like Ancelotti. He does a great job of maximizing his best players' talents, but he simply doesn't have a way of playing that can guarantee that his team will only lose due to the nature of how sport is. With Benzema not having a heroic run in the CL, Real were less potent. On the other hand, Haaland was the most profligate City player against Real, but that had no effect on City.
As Tifo suggested in this video, Pep finally is playing with 5 defenders now.. he is going to win the CL.. Inter will be a walk in the park especially given Lukaku has no first touch. Haaland going to have a field day
People realizing that money doesn’t mean anything if the manager isn’t actually good, and the players big egos aren’t put in check: 🗿 I mean I got some nice nice examples of clubs that had a lot of money but didn’t do well in the end because of their managers and egos. 1. man Utd have spent as much as city in the past 6 years but haven’t had even 1/8 of the success as man city. 2. PSG, big frauds. What else do I have to say? 3. Juventus, after their main core from the 2014/15 season left it was over. People love to say that Pep had Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, and etc at Barcelona, yes he had those guys, but have you ever looked at the production of Messi before and after pep? The 4 or 5 seasons before pep Messi only scored a career high of about 20 goals in a season. After pep Messi was scoring 50, 60, and 70 goals in a singular season. Have you guys not seen how much better young players become under man city? Cancelo was a very good young prospect for a while, but he seemed to have hit his ceiling by the time he joined Juventus, however a season after joining man city he was literally the best left back in the world. He’s done this for a lot of players, many of them seemed to have hit their ceiling of their potential and then pep walks in and a season later they become some do the best players in the world. Obviously this isn’t absolute and some players have stayed at their level when he arrived or they arrived. But he’s the only manager I know that has consistently every season brought out a new player that becomes world class.
Wonderful video, really enjoyed it - what was especially exciting is being able to draw direct comparison with what you’re saying with Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town. He is clearly a big fan of Pep as we dominate games and use many of the same tactics you highlighted across various clubs Pep has been- albeit at a much lower level. Highly recommend watching some highlights of the season Ipswich Town have just played, it’s been phenomenal.
I know Pep is a wonderful tactician but he’s just been at the right clubs at the right time. I doubt he could recreate any of his results with any team that doesn’t have billions to spend
My take is that Pep No-one's job is safe, the moment he's adapting to a new set up that will not need you , he try by all means to push you out - examples are Zinny and Cancelo obviously with 2022/23 season he didnt need them as he adopted to "center-back only" system , hence are both gone ,, the reason he kep Kyle i think its bcz of pace and his unique abilities on 1v1 situations , otherwise he would have been fired. again that decision to keep already paid off , cz he did an excellent job cooling-down Vini on both games. lesson learnt : Even KDB can be released at any point given the new adaptation dont need him!
The second balls thing is my favourite thing about Man City. I support Leicester and we don’t do that at all. To me though it feels like it should be perfectly possible for any coach to teach this? I mean it’s not like you need Messi or Haaland to stand in the right spot so that a defender can automate the best header they can muster under pressure? It’s so good to watch, so simple and logical, yet infuriating my team doesn’t even try it.
Has an influence , but ten hag is his own man he has traits of total football but also the influence of psv as its former coach is one of his biggest guru
The way man city is now is so different to what I’m used to. There’s so much more defensive solidity with have a 3-2 shape than a 2-3. The rotations that Pep can make with his players are so interesting.
Are you ok ? Stones was a top cb from is Everton days and touted as the future of England defence and Grealish has been killing it from Villa days thats why paid 100 mil for him yes Pep should be credited for taking them to the next level but he has never transformed an average player into a WC 1 he gets them at a good level not like Kloppp did with Andy Robertson
@@ron2971 You mean how he turned an attacking midfielder in Zinchenko into one of the best LBs in the Prem? Or how Walker went from pacey RB to a CB/RB hybrid. Also Stones was not as good as he is this season, he was prone to errors early on and injuries. Slowly but surely he has been molded.
@@ron2971Robertson wasn’t average he was just playing at Hull. I could point to Zinchenko being part of a defence that set a English record for number of consecutive clean sheets or Akanji who couldn’t even start for Dortmund being able to help City to win the league and get to two finals having played everywhere across the backline.
@@SteRDLK the way they defend and attack are much different to how his United, Chelsea, Real Madrid used to play. Roma have less pace than those teams and the formations is different. I notice his Roma team press the ball in their own systematic way when they defend. Also the defensive organisation isn't really parking the bus anymore. It's a lot more positional theres like 3-4 lines of players as opposed to 2. He also has players like Dybala in his team which made him adapt his tactics. So I'm curious about Tifo's analysis of his tactics at Roma.
I agree, from defence to defensive mid that Roma side is a well oiler machine, his Roma side however are so poor up front it is not funny, if he had atleast 2 more better than average options up front , Roma would have qualified for Champs Lg with that side. What he is doing with Roma is is simply amazing. Hope he wins Europa and tales Roma to Champs lg via that win. Then I think his work there is done...He needs to be managing a Champs Lg competing club..and get his 3rd Title
Pepe does what I do on FIFA career mode. I always have two teams, a first and a second, and I swap each team every game, so we have optimal fitness (better performance), and players stay happy. My philosophy is If you're in the team, you're gonna play. I'm not gonna say he got this from me...
Any managers who can achieved success with Madrid's galactico squads will be called a great manager. Any managers who achieved success with Man City will be called lucky manager.
There is no denying Pep's brilliance. And Tifo's analysis is as always, on point ! But, why isn't the sportswashing addressed? First at Barca, then at City, both clubs under investigations for discrepancies, be it refereeing or financial. Of course we aren't at a position yet where we can gauge the extent of the advantages those teams got, but surely we must still factor those aspects in.
@@SteRDLK fair enough, it's not the exactly sportswashing. But there's been numerous cases of corruption within the La Liga & clubs like Barca. They are given a pass & a wide berth simply because of what they have achieved, as possibly one of the greatest teams of all time. Sounds close enough to me. Point isn't the semantics of it, but how it remains unaddressed by football fans & analysts.

Yeah since pep came to England, United and Chelsea have spent more than him. People are just lazy with their takes and don't want to give pep the credit he deserves
It's true Pep is one of the most fantastic managers ever seen and that other clubs like Chelsea and Man Utd have spent more than City, however City SHOULD be spending less than those teams anyways. In fact, City should be spending significantly less than what they already have consistently spent since their takeover. They're not a prestige club like Man Utd or Liverpool or Arsenal even, or even Everton based on club histories. City aren't a real top tier club historically. They're only at this point now because their Qatari takeover was their catalyst. They'll never truly be a Prestige club, BUT they can pretend and imitate (just like how they have been in recent times)
no other manager has the luxury of unlimited funds, a boardroom set in place specifically for them, a ground given to them virtually free of charge, arriving to a squad containing Kompany, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Silva, and Aguero... and so on
Now do the counterpoint - Fernando Diniz at Fluminense FC. Regarding youth football, if Pep has trouble of getting professional footballers to understand and appreciate staying in position and how their positioning controls the defense to a certain extent, imagine trying to impose that on 10 year old kids. And yet that is what we are asked to do as youth coaches, teach BOOTB and positional play instead of "boot it downfield and chase it down."
Excellent overview BUT this video could have been SO much better if done in two or three parts. Unfortunately JJ has mixed different generations of players at all three clubs and not quite told the full story of Pep's evolution of ideas & his development... He didn't elaborate on the struggle with Mourinho & his tactical dilemma. He underplayed the appalling collapses in the Champions League too! JJ did not mention Pep's rejection of 'tiki-taka', his re-education of Aguero or the need to have a new ball playing goalkeeper with a massive kick. This was somewhat disappointing and strangely slapdash. Even if one hasn't read Perarnau's books it is clear that Pep had a bit of a 'wobble' at Bayern. He genuinely had to re-invent City with an ageing squad whilst adapting to the violence and verticality of the English Premier League. Sadly, JJ rushed through the relatively clever evolution of the this last season which needed a lot more time. Great review but too dumbed down. ⚽

only 12 minutes and already so much people crying in the comment "city has money, cheat city," but footbal is not only about money e.g psg they have it all but no establishment.
When we talk about inverted wingers, we mean a left-footed winger on the right, right-footed winger on the left. It has a basis on what the word "inverted" actually means. Why are "inverted full-backs" just full-backs that don't play as wide? Why did that become an acceptable thing to call them?
Because while having an "opposite" dominant foot was the original definition of an inverted winger, the modern understanding refers more to play style than dominant foot.
@Edward King But my point is that "inverted" isn't the right word for it. I know it's a stupid thing to argue about, so I don't want to really, it's just a pet peeve. There's nothing "inverted" about playing in a half space instead of out wide. It's just narrower.
A right footed winger playing on the left (and vice-versa) will shift inward centrally, hence "Inverted winger". It's not just about which foot is the dominant one, but because the player is right footed and playing off the left (and vice-versa) it then implies he's going to invert centrally. Therefore, calling a right back that shifts inward centrally; an "inverted fullback" is consistent and makes total sense

Pep did not break the Premier League, the league broke in 2008 when they let a state own a team. This state then went on 10 years of breaking FFP rules, and outspending the other teams in the league in 5 out of those 10 years. Laying the foundations for what they have now. Also it's important to point out that the team that beat Real in the second leg cost an average of 56 million pounds per player. Anything less than total domination would be a failure for Pep. City going from a mid-table team in the 2007 to what it is now shows that the money makes all the difference and their very very creative accounting. The fact the Premier League has failed to hold them account shows how money is the only thing that is important in our beloved game. This is why City's wins will not be remembered fondly in the future. Leicester's will.
Other teams in league & Europe have spent more money than Man City. The only expensive signing they made since 2008 was Grealish 100M because of his English tax. The money does play a factor but it’s not the main thing. It’s Pep & his ability to pick the best players across Europe for his team and system.
Just because of that rotation of players chart at the end I thought Declan Rice would be a great fit for Man City... People keep saying he wouldn't be a starter. Most players are not a traditional starter in Pep's team, but they win almost everything, every time.
Any collection of roughly equally spaced players is going to form diamonds and triangles. Obviously there is importance to maintaining the appropriate position and utilising these shapes, but just pointing at a still image of a starting formation and pointing out which triangles you can draw isn’t really saying anything. You could do the exact same thing to a random scattering.
@@eleonarcrimson858 how they utilise said triangles and diamonds, the way and hoops he jumps to form them, how he doesn't sacrifice defensive solidity and intimidation in transition to form said shapes etc.
Money is the most important thing. Take a look at the champions of the top 5 leagues over the past 10 years and their requisite payroll. European football should really take a page from NA sports. Far more merit based.
@@carnifex2005 I'd disagree that money is the most important thing. Its definitely an important thing, but money with no direction doesn't make a good team. Just look at recent Chelsea and Man Utd.

Pep Guardiol-eh?
Instilling the discipline, hardwork and tactical revolution that turned Barca into a reference point for football whilst being relatively inexperienced is his biggest achievement imo.
another thing is that Man City almost take Pep in 2012 actually
You are wrong, another coach would not have promoted Busquets and Pedro to the first team, when they were homegrown players who had not played in the first team, they would continue betting on those who were already there. Guardiola was not scared by putting a veteran like Yaya Toure to put a youth player like Busquets.

Thank you for everything you guys do. You have completely changed the way I watch football ❤️
Football is a beautiful game,
I will recommend you keep an eye on Barcelona next season
Positional play is the most beautiful form of football especially when it plays in different ways
I'm a lifelong Mourinho fan but gotta admit Guardiola is the most successful manager of our times.
the sorta centre back at fullback concept combats the wingers that are wide strikers within the setups that have become more popular in recent years, the centre half joining the midfield minimises the amount of ground that needs to be made up when they are actually hit on the counter, the box midfield overloads the 3 man midfield that’s become more popular in the league in recent years so they can dominate, all whilst supporting a striker that doesn’t contribute much to the possession, makes his team’s ridiculously difficult to compete against
I also like the way Pep has persevered throughout the years when it comes to the Champions League.
Because unlike Benzema , haaland is useless in open play creating goals, he wants everything on a plate not necessarily tap ins but a one touch finish
As Tifo suggested in this video, Pep finally is playing with 5 defenders now.. he is going to win the CL.. Inter will be a walk in the park especially given Lukaku has no first touch. Haaland going to have a field day

1. man Utd have spent as much as city in the past 6 years but haven’t had even 1/8 of the success as man city.
JJ almost making up for his terrible take on Shrek 2 the other day
Excellent overview BUT this video could have been SO much better if done in two or three parts. ⚽
2012:
79 goals for Barcelona
12 goals for Argentina
Worth the JJ giggle
It was the best tactical breakdown I ever saw
When Real Madrid Mourinho made 100 points, it had a lot of help from referees.
Stop discrediting peoples achievements
Love tifos videos and analisis. One big correction though. JJ says: "Guardiola now has only defenders and attackers. That is definitivley an overstatement. Rodri, B. Silva, De Bruyne, Gundogan are midfielders. Stones has arguably converted into a Mid and the same can be said for Grealish So, midfielders are still pretty much Pep's thing.
The fact that mourinho comes in and takes a team of serial losers and in 2 years breaks the record for most points and wins in a season and is 9 points clear of barcelona who had enough points to win la liga in almost any other season is insane. If they had won the UCL that year we’d be talking about that team as one of the best ever
Jose greater than Pep any day of the week. He's reached his 6th European Cup final just last week with Roma.
Pep could never take an Aberdeen or Porto to win a European Cup vs the giant clubs like Sir Alex did with Aberdeen or Jose did with Porto.
@@shahzadirani I'm Portuguese but I've been following Man City for a while and I have to say Pep is a genius in his own way, standing shoulder to shoulder with Mou. We will never see a rivalry at the same level and it's insane to think that for 2 years we had Mou vs Pep and Ronaldo vs Messi and some of the craziest El Classicos ever. A genius is not complete without an equally outstanding rival and we should be grateful these guys pushed each other to levels we probably will never see again.
@@shahzadirani getting tired of this argument salty fans like yourselves seems to forget were pep started from a B TEAM . Getting promotion in his first season one could argue Barcelona B was the Aberdeen of the Spanish lower league. Plus as soon as he came into the first team he promoted reserve team players(remember a certain player name Sergio Busquets) and with that team he won la liga he benched or sold players like Eto Zlatan and gave chances to young talents like David Villa and so on.....Saltiness can only take you so far you Donut.....every successful coach starts somewhere but the agenda against Pep is laughable. Pep's inovativeness speaks volumes of his success as a master football tactician just see where stones is playing this season and before you bring the money this money that argument just look at Chelsea....
@@lazytitan2451 Hahaha I'm about to rip you to shreds with some facts. Winning a European Cup with Aberdeen and defeating Real Madrid is NOT remotely close to anything Pep did with Barcelona B. Want to know why? It's NOT been done for 40 years!
And you speak about Eto'o? Lol in 2009 he was the main striker for Pep when they won the fraudulent UCL in 2009. Next year when Pep sold Eto'o to Inter and could not adapt his tactics when he had Zlatan - guess what? Inter won the Treble by knocking out Barcelona lol.
And you say "young talent David Villa"? HAHAHA. David Villa was a Valencia player when he was a key starter for Spain at Euro 2008 and was the top scorer for Spain at the 2010 World Cup, so when Pep bought him in the summer of 2010 he was already a World Class Player and a World Cup Winner. HAHAHA you are laughable mate learn some ball.
Then you speak about Pep's innovation? Shows how brainwashed you are by him and his marketing team. A defender like John Stones playing in midfield? Guess what? Sir Alex was already doing this in the 1990s and 2000s with Johnsen from CB to CDM and with O'Shea/Phil Jones from CB to CDM. And Sir Alex also played Carrick and Fletcher (two CMs at CB in 2010 for majority of the season).
Lastly, you talk about just one youth academy player in Busquets who played an actual key role in the Barcelona team. Maybe two if we count Pedro. Guess what? Even that's been done before and on a larger scale. Sir Alex won the Treble in 1999 with 7 youth academy players featuring consistently throughout the season (Giggs Scholes Beckham Brown GNeville PNeville Nicky Butt).
LOL come back after you brush up on your football knowledge.

It's also just a problem in English. In Spanish when they tuck in we call them "interiors"
People talking about funding, as a Chelsea supporter I need to tell you, just shut up. It's abundantly clear that money isn't the be all and end all.

Funny how it wasn’t anywhere near this level before pep joined
Absolutely pure copium
Other teams in league & Europe have spent more money than Man City. The only expensive signing they made since 2008 was Grealish 100M because of his English tax.

Max thinks he’s intelligent but he’s an idiot. Don’t be like Max
I guess…then how else do you explain his gameplan without showing the shapes that are formed with the players?

if you’re convinced that money and money only can make a great dominant team you should probably consider not watching football anymore
