      @@TinLeadHammer The word "they" is routinely described in grammar books as the "third-person plural personal pronoun," which is the reason many consider it wrong to use it as a singular. However, it is safe to label that view as outdated, and all the leading style guides now support a singular "they" or "their." This practice has become so popular that the American Dialect Society voted "they" (as a gender-neutral singular pronoun) as the 2015 Word of the Year.

    Still use and love my Sony RX100M3. I seldom want a longer zoom so it's still fine for me. For those who complain about its "smaller" sensor size, I shoot RAW and convert with DxO PhotoLab with its wonderful noise reduction.

    In non-vlogging contexts, smaller bodies may mean there's no viewfinder, or a compact, underwhelming one. But when our eyes start to weaken in our mid-40s we'll have trouble seeing the screen.
    When we're younger camera screens are fantastic, but as we age our eyes will appreciate cameras with very good viewfinders. I'm happy with APS-C sensors and love my 26MP Fujifilm X-E4, but that viewfinder is the bare minimum - especially with glasses!

    Why mentioned the RX100 VI rather than the RX100VII, which has already been out a few years? RX100VII deserves a stronger mention here as it is probably the top compact camera out there with much of the fast focusing features of Sony's top sports camera A9 and especially eye-focus tracking.

    Not a word about the Sony ZV-E10? It's the direct competitor of the Canon M6 II, but better... in my opinion 😅 I sold my M6ii for the ZV-E10 actually. M6ii had an extremely weird issue about picking up radio signals when using an external mic. It might just be my unit that had an issue. But given the very little choice in the EF-M lens and the lack of future plans from Canon, I switched to the Sony ZV-E10. Incredible camera, no regrets switching. I'm using that Tamron 11-20mm constant f2.8 for shooting which is really something. Edit: to be fair, the rolling shutter and lack of built-in stabilization are a minus. But that's not a big issue for me.

    I recently purchased a Panasonic LX100 mark 2 which first made it's debut in 2018. Has a micro 4/3 sensor so it's slightly better than the 1' sensor cameras, has manual dials for shutter speed, aperture and exposure compensation as well as a dedicated ratio switch. It has a 20mp sensor, but the lens design limits it to 17mp. Luckily switching from 4:3 to 16:9 or 3:2 doesn't affect the megapixel count like it does when cropping photos in post (does crop to 12mp when shooting 1:1). Though it's more a photo camera than a vlogging camera, it's a solid competitor to cameras like Fuji's X100 series and Ricoh's GR series.

      Because the lens is built in and non-interchangeable, it sits closer to the sensor. This allows it to have wide apertures without gaining size. 24 - 75, the zoom range is great for the street. Why would you want a fixed lens when you could have a fast Leica zoom?

    I’ve been shooting the G7X Mark III for a couple years, and use it only because of the flip screen and microphone input. The built in microphone is not good at all for outdoor shootingl, and catches even little bits of wind noise. The 4K video is almost useless as it quickly overheats and locks up the camera. The autofocus is improved, but not as good as the Mark II . I wish they had simply added a microphone input to the Mark II, it would have been the perfect camera.

      It is a fun camera to use, Kerry, as is the earlier M100. Almost all controls are on the touchscreen, making the experience similar to using a smartphone. It's a little odd to design it that way, but Canon wanted cell phone users to have something they found familiar. APS-C sensor and interchangeable lenses make it a very nice camera, indeed. No viewfinder, though, in case that is important to you.

    • @awdrpepper
      @awdrpepper 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TechThroughTheLens It is difficult to understand how you can suggest the Canon ecosystem is 'easier' in the long run when Canon has so few dedicated APS-C native lenses in their lineup. And none of them are of the same quality as Fuji's top-end lenses (though they are excellent value in their own right). Of course Canon has an impressive lineup of FF mirrorless lenses that are compatitble with the m6 but that defeats the purpose of having a compact camera system.
      That said, there were a number of excellent suggestions on this list. Some honorable mentions: Ricoh GR IIIx, Panasonic Lumix LX100 II and Fuji X-T30 II.

      Peter, the G7X (any iteration) or G5X mark ii would be great travel compact cameras. Great optics, decent zoom, many DSLR features. Check out the many videos on TH-cam dealing with these cameras.
      For a super zoom pocket camera, look into the SX740 (or even earlier models, the 730 or 720). The image quality is surprisingly good, and the super zoom is the equivalent of 960mm lens on a DSLR.

      I own two cameras: a Sony A7III with four $$$ lenses, and an iPhone 12 Pro. A couple of weeks ago I was at Niagara Falls. As much as I wanted to use my “real” camera, the high amount of mist from the falls…which essentially amounted to rain…made using it impossible. The iPhone did an amazing job with both photos and video.

      Also, does the mark III overheat within ten to fifteen min of filming content? I've read comments where some say that battery life is shorter and that it overheats. Another concern is the AF, where some say they've updated the new software but still have issues because of how long it takes to focus? Would appreciate all your feedback. Thanks for sharing!

      Hey happy to answer a detailed question like this. So the over heating Is not something i have personally had issues with. And alot of the auto focus issues have been fixed via firmware. Alot of these comments may be from a few years ago. I still use a g7x III regularly for travel with my friends and I don't find an issue. BUT if these things are a concern i would HIGHLY recommend looking up the sony ZV1 or sony ZVe10! i cannot say enough good things about the cameras. And its hard to not recommend sony cameras. They rarely let you down. Just know that the colors arn't quite as straight out of the box pretty as the canon cameras

Unfortunately living in the UK, there are hardly any camera shops that have any cameras in to go look at and hold to see if right. I had an Olympus Pen 10 and while a fantastic camera because of my tremor I could not change lens safety. So had to sell it and am now looking again. I really like the look and size of the Canon M6 Mark 11 but it has changeable lens. Can you buy a lens for it that is not big and can do macro and distance for birds etc? No bigger than the one in the video clip please? It is a nightmare for me as I really do want to find the right one but non in shops so looking online. As you can appreciate if it is wrong when it arrives I have to send back.

    I've been researching for a new camera and I think I've watched 10 of your videos. They're very informative and have been really helpful!
    I think I've narrowed my choices down to 2, but I still can't decide between the Canon G7X iii vs. M6 Mark ii. I was specifically looking for a compact camera that shoots 4k. I want to film art videos with the option to zoom in on post, which is why I'm on the hunt for great 4k and autofocus. I don't have a big budget so I kinda want to go for the Canon G7X iii, but I really love the cinematic feel you get on mirrorless cameras. I'm really torn, what would you suggest? Also, these 2 canons have a 30 min. video recording limit right?
    Ideally, I would have loved to go for the Sony ZV-E10. It has everything I need at a price I can afford, but sadly it's sold out everywhere and it looks like it's not coming back in stock anytime soon :(

      I think objectively the m6 mk II is better but the g7x has the benfits of being compact. I think the choise is simple if you prefer to keep one lense and have something pocket size, go with the g7x. If you are okay with it taking up a bit more space go with the m6 mk II

    One negative with the Sony cameras also is their menu system. It's so much less user friendly compared to the Canon simple system. Moreover, to update the Sony on a MacBook Pro is really complicated. I have the zv1 and still operating on ver 1.0 when the current is like 3. something or other just because I'm not going to affect the "root" operating system in order to update and I can't find anyone who will update the camera for me. How about that? :-(

    • @Supersaiyan79
      @Supersaiyan79 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Sony Menu system is a disaster but you can change settings quite fast after you have made good defaults and the favourites menu. I think the lack of proper touch screen menus is a greater fault. I can't believe why there are no touch screen menus when you have touch screen in the RX100 VI. The only thing you can do is change the focus point when shooting.

      @@Supersaiyan79 I don’t disagree with you at all. I totally loved the camera except for the very challenging menu and lack of external button camera control of the 3 elements of light control and touch screen and better battery life.
