DJI Osmo pocket 3 looks cool, is it possible to disable the blurred background? I noticed when compared to the Gopro hero 12 the full capture on the gopro was more desirable. I need a camera with video like the osmo but be able to take nice photos too.
thoughts about ZVE10 + kit lens as a casual travel camera for photos & especially videos?
It's lovely. Just doesn't have an evf though. If that's an issue I'd got for the Canon r50
I usually love your videos but can’t agree with you on this one. Travel cameras are suppose to be light weight and small in size, most of these cameras are neither. Sony R1007 & Canon R50 definitely are travel cameras & LUMIX s9 is a maybe but only with the 28mm, with other lenses it becomes bulky again.
It's a balancing act between size and image quality. I have a separate video for compact point and shoot cameras so decided to focus on more capable cameras that are still fairly compact. I did throw in a fe super compact ones though : )

How about Sony ZV-1 II?
It's a good camera. Similar to the ZV1f in many ways
I thought the canon r8 would’ve made the list small and compact full frame 4@60 no crop Same AF as r6 markii can be had for $900 canonusa refurb direct on mayor holidays , could give Sony A7c2 a run for its money for less
True, I love the R8 but he lack of IBIS makes it a little less capable as a stills camera. It would require a tripod for many shots so not as travel friendly as some of the others on the list in my opinion.

Incredible List!! Can't believe the Sony ZV1 isn't listed.. Im so blown away by its capacity to capture Full HD 240p Videos and its Log profiles!! Also, I shot so many incredible portraits on it! I even prefer using it over my Canon R6 from time to time!!!

Xs20 and xt50 are also a great option for lightweight APSC camera. Combine with sigma 18-50mm f2.8, these are quite light and capable setup

Good list. Hope we have more competitors coming for the fuji x100v and ricoh gr line of cameras. The price gouging and artificial scarcity needs to stop.
I was thinking the same thing lately. Would be crazy if they are holding back production and generating artificial hype by people constantly finding the camera out of stock. Makes you wonder.
I know everyone wants to talk about later cameras, but I think the Canon M6II deserves a spot here. With that 22mm f2 pancake lens and 32mgpx it basically fits in your pocket.
It is a lovely camera. The best in the M-mount. It's unfortunate Canon discontinued EF-M lenses and cameras.
Do you think any smartphones could stack up against these in photo/video image quality?
In certain ways they can but mostly I would say no.

The s9 ends up being too bulky for travel once you pair it with Panasonic’s lenses. Same story for the r7, canon has very limited selection of decent apsc glass, yes you can use their huge full frame lenses and end up with a compact travel set-up right? I would rather have an xt5 or xs20 there, they are tiny, powerful, and have compact lenses, and of course if you have dentist’s salary you can own a Leica q3
They got a little pancake lens for the S9 that would keep it relatively compact, also the r7 has the 16mm f2.8 pancake which would end up giving you a 24mm field of view. I like the Fuji cameras you mentioned but find the video AF still needs some refinement. I'm with you on the Leica although with the cost of living as of late I'm not sure dentists are sporting Leicas. Maybe Heart Surgeons though : )
I'd love the RX100 VII but damm it's a pricey import in my country T.T

Lovely for still but only HD video. Not ideal for travel but great for street photography
