A few beasts you are able to parry. Well one (that I know of) is the eagles with metal claws that you see at edge of stormveil castle. There may be more so if anyone would like to add that’d be great!
Real life tip here, but also get good sleep when learning a skill. Its just like learning to use a speed bag in boxing. Practice for like 15 minutes, and you can go on with your day. When you're asleep, your brain is literally working on the hand-eye coordination you were attempting. The next day, you will usually notice good improvement from the previous day. So don't think you have to sit and practice for 6 hours straight or anything. Just give it a good focus session, get a good night's sleep, and repeat the next day. Now mastering the skill - gonna take more long-term dedication than simply learning it. But at that point, you'll know whether you enjoy it enough to continue.
Very nice guide. Regarding the parry frame list, the golden parry gives all shields the same parry frames, which is why it is best to use on a medium shield to overwrite the bad frames they usually have. The Buckler is a bad choice because it has better frames than the golden parry
Thank you I've watched 3 other vids and yours is the only 1 that slowed it down and explained when to parry. They gave no clues about when to hit the button so I was always late or early. Thanks again
Thanks & thanks for your comment! Elden Ring is only my second Souls game; I’ve only played Sekiro before this game. I’m enjoying Elden Ring so much though that it’s made me want to play through all the Dark Souls games
Man I'm struggling to learn the parry timing. I'm practicing by using the soldiers of godrick near where you get torrent. I still can't consistently hit it for the fast attacks from the guys with spears. Also, can you parry their shield slam? The swordsman seem to delay just long enough on some swings and throw others out a little too quickly. It's also confusing to me that some attacks bounce off my shield before I even get a chance to parry.
Another thing to note is that flails are a weapon that are unparriable. Borderline useless info if you frequent pvp parrying, borderline useless being such an obscure weapon class that is rarely ever seen in pvp anyways
"you can't parry arrows" "you can parry magic with Carian Retaliation" AmbI completely misunderstanding how Storm Wall works then? I get that consuming FP on Storm Wall rarely, if ever, makes sense when you can just dodge roll, but aren't physical projectiles what Storm Wall is for?
"Carian Retaliation: Swing the shield to dispel incoming sorceries and incantations, transforming the magic into retaliatory glintblades. Can also be used in the same way as a regular parry." As far as I’m aware you can’t parry arrows but please feel free to try and let us know
@@KANIME yes. I'm aware of that. I'm referring to the Storm Wall parry. Again, it's probably useless in reality, but I'm fairly sure it does parry arrows

yes, both carian retaliation and golden parry have similar if not better frame data than buckler but can be put on medium shields, allowing for good block negation and a nice parry window, I don't know about the other 2 tho
You able to to a video of you parrying different weapons and especially meta weapons. I'm just having a hard time parrying off reaction and I feel like I'm looking for the wrong thing.
One tip i found that make things slightly easier for me was to connect the shield to the enemy’s fist rather than the weapon during the parry animation. Sometimes it may just fall down to learning via trial and error with a specific enemy’s attacks to get a feel for the timing. Crucible knight in the evergaol kicked my ass for an hr until i started to figure out which attacks I can parry and the timing for them.
One thing that may help is focusing on the enemy’s hand rather than their weapon. Generally when the arm/hand begins to move forward is when you want to click LT. Although, the frames (charge up) may make it different for different types of shields. I use the Buckler Shield and parrying when the enemy’s hand begins to move forward works for me.
@@andyscoming4919 I haven't practiced parrying a whole lot but I parried the Crucible Knight in the Evergaol three times in a row. I was overleveled so it only took four hits to kill him but parrying him sure made me feel good. 😅

is golden parry the best for s? Is the fp tradeoff worth it compared to other shields
I find it much easier to parry with a small round sheild than the buckler parry.
I wish it was a person TH-cam just going through different enemies you can parry, I might need to do it myself 😭
Well, 5 or so are covered in this video so you’ll only need to do about another 200! 😅😂

Try focusing on the enemy’s hand rather than weapon. Also, when the hand/arm begins to move toward you is when you want to hit LT.
