    Killa video! But also learn this on forum... ,the axels on drum brake trucks are about 1/4" longer then disc brake axles,so the brakes won't line up with out spacers..

      I did a read end swap from a late 90s blazer with a lsd, definitely worth it but still has drum brakes so I’ll be swapping those very soon to the 2000 disk brakes. LSD blazer rear end is a must in my opinion tho and you can find one at your local junk yard for dirt cheap!

      Yeah I am on air also and didn't want to go through the trouble of reconfiguring the blazer axle.

    I wasn't aware of the e brake cable, thank you. I'm using the entire rear end from a Blazer, the only difference that I know of is the overall width of the rear end, it's a little bit wider than the pick up, but the pins line up, so it's a smidge more stability is all it comes down to on my truck, it might not be the same for somebody who cant get any closer to the inside of the fender wells due to a wider tire but there's a grip full of room before you'd be rubbing the inside, I use 235/60/15 all the way around my truck, a little tight fitting on the front because of how low it sits in the front, but all sorts of clearance in the back. Do I need to switch out the proportion valve while i have your attention? And because i am using the rear end from a 4x4 and my '94 Sonoma / (looks like an S-10 with a GMC hood, I like the two lines more than one in the center) lol Are there unseen problems i'm heading into here because of the 4x4 thing ( fingers crossed big time now) Unless you're real quick to reply, i'll find out within a few days I recon because i'm real close to doing the swap as I write this. thank you for posting too, your truck looks tight, what I saw of it.

    1. Will this work on an older s10 specifically a 97. 2. How much of the ebrake cable do you need like the whole thing. 3. Same question for the brake line to the caliper.

    • @justin_meshell87
      @justin_meshell87  ปีที่แล้ว

      1. Yes! I have found that the rear end and frame are the same from 1994 to 2003. So this should work for your 97. If you want to be safe grab the rear brakes from a 97 blazer or Jimmy. 2. To be safe I pulled the ebrake cable from the caliper all the way to the front door. 3. The connection from the drum and caliper are completely different. So you will atleast need the back half. Good luck 👍 I will be making a follow up video of everything working when I finish painting the truck body.

      I just went to the local wrecking yard and pulled the dust covers, backing plates, and e brake cables from a 2wd blazer. Then, went to O'Reilly's and ordered the rear calipers and brakes pads. The rotors are stop tech from summit racing.

    Question? So all u pulled out of the diff was the 2 smaller gears and 2 c clips right?? Or did I miss something? I’m wanting to do this to my s10. Thanks for help

    • @justin_meshell87
      @justin_meshell87  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, to get the axles out you will need to remove a 8mm bolt that is holding the pin for the spider gears in place. Then two c clips. After that the axles slide right out.

    So I have a 94’ 2wd 4.3 v6 Chevy s10 extended cab, I am wanting to swap the rear drums for the disc brakes, do I need the entire blazer rear end or just the axle?

    • @justin_meshell87
      @justin_meshell87  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe the easiest thing you could do is get the entire rear end and swap it in. All blazers, and Jimmy's are 4.3L v6. So the diff gears should be the exact same. But make sure you pull it from a 2wd! As a bonus they all also have a sway bar that you might be able to use. I know in Texas at pick N pull the complete rear end with disc is $172.00 and a core charge of $24.99.

    • @justin_meshell87
      @justin_meshell87  ปีที่แล้ว

      But the cheeper way would be to pull just the brake parts out of a salvage yard and swap them on. Definitely the backing plates and the dust covers for sure. You could get the rear calipers from an auto parts store new for added reliability.

      @@justin_meshell87 will 2wd drum ebrake cable work on the newer 2001 rear disc brake?

    • @justin_meshell87
      @justin_meshell87  ปีที่แล้ว

      @What the phuck Unfortunately no. You will need the back half of the e- brake cable from the Blazer or Jimmy to do the disc swap.

    yea. they make way better conversion kits then this junk. ones that fit correctly and don't need any extra supplies. and to the comments yall know this isn't something new right? people have been swapping 210 Truck and Balzer rear drums out sense the early 90s. If you need a TH-cam video to do this, you are definitely not mechanically inclined at all and you need to turn your tool box over to your wife along with your balls to sell on Marketplace. somebody will put them to good use.
