- Dave Gahan and Martin Gore, founders of the legendary electronic band Depeche Mode, were honored at Los Angeles City Hall on Wednesday, which was officially proclaimed “Depeche Mode Day” in L.A.
Depeche Mode just wrapped up two nights at Inglewood’s Kia Forum in support of their new album, Memento Mori, and will take the stage for two nights at Crypto.com area on Friday and Sunday.

Saw them recently at the Forum. Man, Dave Gahan still has it! He was jumping and twirling and moving like he was in his 20s. DM forever! 🙌🙌

If you live long enough you witness things like this… growing uo in pasadena in the 80s depeche mode was the soundtrack from my walkman… would never have guessed in 2023 there would be a depeche mode day in LA. my 16 year old self would have been so proud lol

I bet Ur 10 year old loved the show. I remember being in the 7th grade in 1983 and the band has been there for me ever since. My first real GF and I use to listen to KROQ as we talked on the phone till 3 or 4 in the morning sometimes....
Then in high school 1988, we seen DM at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena... Now i'm 54 and married with 6 kids and a total of 11 grandkids. I raised me kids with U2, Chili Peppers, The Cult and ofcourse DM, basically all the classic KROQ bands from the 80s & 90s.
And today is also my birthday thank you Depeche Mode ! Saw you guys in Houston ‼️

Council woman Rodriguez also bestowed The Cure with a Cure Day back in May, but unfortunately, there was no public ceremony for it. Glad to see that Dave and Martin were able to participate.They really are huge in LA have been for decades. Next one for Morrissey?

What was it?
Congrats to Dave and Martin. Saw them in Aug 1990 at Dodger Stadium and most recently at T-Mobile Arena Las Vegas earlier this month. Their music is the Soundtrack of my life.
Myself and 3 friends slept on the streets outside The Warehouse for 4 days to meet them. Someone stole my cassette tape that K-Rock announced the band was giving away since the incident was a disaster.
So sad I don’t have it. But my first concert ever was Depeche Mode in Los Angeles.
Forever my all time favorite band. I choked up a little watching this. So long overdue and deserved.

I am so happy for Depeche Mode to be greeted like this. My 48 year old son Petko started listening to their music back in the days when they were starting up their career and I was very happy as a mother to know what kind of music my son chose to listen to. I'm born and raised in LA and have lived other places and no other place beats it, especially the weather. No other place loves Depeche Mode (& The Smiths & Morrissey) quite like L.A. we love them here! 🌴🎵

They've always been more popular abroad than at home, as is strangely the case with so many British bands.
Just saw them in Detroit in Nov -been waiting since 1990 to see them-I was blown away! Danced the whole concert-one of the best concerts I have seen-I am still playing their music and dancing with “Dave” in my living room every night! What an awesome group! Love Love them!
This tribute means the world to me. Depeche Mode was my everything growing up-I vividly recall their KROQ moments with Richard Blade. Their music didn't just touch me; it reshaped my artistic landscape. During dark times, their melodies were my saving grace. Congrats to DM and LA for this incredible tribute! I have liked this band most of my life. There are songs I liked from them and until recently didn't know it was them. Since I was in elementary school back in the early 80's. Congratulations gentlemen well deserved from a former Los Angeleno now a New Yorker...

The Warehouse fiasco was the "DM Fans Riot" when the 4 members came to a The Warehouse record store for a autograph session in March 1990 for the release of the album,"Violator".

Him and Vince Clarke get a 20% discount on Dodger Stadium parking. That's it.
They seemed very humble. Not a hater of the band. Just kinda of wondering if other bands from Los Angeles are going to get a day also. Also when is Richard Blade going to be honored with his own day. He did a lot for independent artists too. Glad they got their day though. 🎉

Saw them in Ludwigshafen, Germany in 1986, Wembley Arena in 1987, San Jose CA in 2008 and was there for the Hollywood Riot in 1990. Long live DM!
