So, when will you field a full Inquisition force? Like say all three brances and their normal support unit's, like the Astra Militarium, Sisters Soritas or even the Grey Knights. You know what they say, nobody... Just get rid off all the skulls, that can be gotten rid off, so that Khorne can't use them, to lay his filty grasps on those folks, with his throne bullshit. Also, think you can create a Mechanicum & Iron Hands, tasks force? Might let you get one over...him, you know. Unexpected army force.
since i came back to warhammer, this channel became my absolute favorite. I love the videos, your personality, everything. Keep going, i am literally waiting for every single new video. Its just so much fun to watch you paint and talk about warhammer!
I wish combat patrol got the same level of love (and was good as) spearhead, especially after seeing the effort and joy you put into all of these models
There are some really cool schemes for Fyreslayers in their battletomes, with some exciting lore to boot. Dipping their hands in ashes, forging weapons from a unique Hyishian alloy.... I'd do one of those, maybe with some additional tattoos or cracked body paint.
11:41 it makes me chuckle a little to everytime I hear you unironically use the phrase "Nick & Jay", as it is almost the same name of a popuar 00's boyband here in Denmark called "Nik & Jay"
I painted my Fyre Slayer Spearhead to be from the peaks of Ulgu, and to mimic the frost dwarves from Everquest. Their skin is a rocky gray with dark green bits of armor. The hair and beards are painted to look like snow, so use a subtle blue Contrast wash, and the weapons are painted to look like ice. And all the bases are painted using ProAcryl snow texture making sure to add extra texture with my spreading tool, then using the same contrast paint I used on the hair and beards, followed by a drybrush of bright white. Add some frosty blue tufts (and some ice crystals made from sprue on the larger models for when I decided to expand) and it really sells Frost Slayers in a wintery environment.
I really appreciate that you time and again show off that a model is never finished! Great work! Also idea for the fyreslayers! Green esoteric flames and hair with black lizards would be pretty cool imo. Everyone seem to paint them orange...
You are such an inspiration, I'm just getting into painting minis again you make me want to get up to higher standards and I'm learning a lot for your techniques!
Hello, about those oil paints. Not sure how much read about oil paints, but most whites are mixed with safflower oil instead of linseed oil, which make them dry a lot slower than most paints. Some companies makes faster drying whites, Rembrandt have titanium white mixed with either safflower or linseed oil. Since you are in the states, Gamblin makes different fast drying whites, and they have a medium called galkyd which makes any oil paint dry a little faster, you mix it in with your solvent. Schmincke makes a tube of "drying accelerator"which I like, and Winsor & Newton makes something called Liquin. Liquin is not sold as a drying accelerator, but it does help with the drying time a bit, and is available world wide.
I’ve always wanted to do fyreslayers, like they were corrupted by warp stone, green hair and glowing green eyes and weapons. Like they were mining and came across some buried warp stone and shenanigans ensued. Do it Jay , I’ll live vicariously through you 😂
Im always jotting in my hobby notebook stuff i learn from you jay like im ever gonna have the skills to pull this wizardry off. Literal masterpieces man, i love it.
Thanks for this video Jay. I can really see how I can add to some of my minis. Also I see I can paint the models I have been putting off and add to them as I improve.
My idea for Fireslayers when I was considering them was to have patches of crackle texture paint dotted around the models and paint them with Jet Black / Charcoal skin and have them look like the were made of living Magma with volcanic rock skin and a heart of Fire, with the lava colours coming through the crackle texture. I bet you could make these look some much better than I can even imagine.
I've been hesitating buying an air brush due to the price of one and the compressor, but you seem to get a lot of use out of your one. Makes one seem a lot more worth picking up.
good luck with Fireslayers. Best thought I can give at the moment is maybe do them with rocky skin? or at least all covered in soot and ash, with glowy magma-power weapons and eyes.
Contrast. Wode or Celtic/tribal blue tats is traditional but it'd be easier and probably more interesting to do something more fun like Maori inspired fyreslayers.
For Fyreslayers, I don't really like the models in the Spearhead but I did paint one up, I always thought i'd do them with dark blue-black skin like a Salamander.
For fyre slayers, you could go the opposite of the "fyre" direction and go for Ice slayers, with blue tinted skin contrasting with bright red hair. That could be fun and different !
Finally doing some Stormcast! Love to see it. Imagine doing some Astral Templars and kitbashing some animal fur / severed beast heads on their weapons and armor.
My friend paints his Fyreslayers like punks. Each has its own hair color and all the colors are super bright (neon-greens, pinks, teals, light-blues etc.)
Fireslayers Idea - Cut off that head dress mohawk thing off their helmets. Then give them fur cloaks or capes made of green stuff. Base them on a frozen river using that UV liquid and the stuff that looks like snow.
I am going to paint pants onto my fyreslayers and the runes line burning the pant away. Little black around the runes like char and even some skin showing on holes burned away by the runes. Sounds interesting at least.
Loved the video! awesome work as always. Also, I recently started thinking of concepts for, if the traitor chapters of the Horus Heresy remained loyal what would they look like now in primaris, sadly my painting and kitbashing skills are lacking, but maybe that could be a cool addition to your space marine chapter painting series?
Hearing Jay say, "They were fiiinne..." always brings me back to trying to convince my parents to let me buy the newest toy when I had just gotten the last version. 😆
My trick to make Fyreslayers look better was to paint the armour silver, and the beards black, and then modify the helmets so the small vulkites I clipped off the mowhawk, and gave the hearth guards extra armour from old world dwarf kits! 😊
You could Make fyreslayers made of magma with hair of flame, maybe put some crackle paint on them and paint then black with hot lava inside showing throught those cracks. There is a cool artwork of grimnir (their god) looking kinda like that, it shouldn't be too hard to find
I would say, paint the fireslayers, like cursed nurgled blue and dark zombie dwarfs. with some blue fluorescents on the bases, puddles, and garbage rocks, muddi grime, some barrels. like there zombie horde is living in a junkyard cave. 😂
For the slayers, i know its probably not canon but...What about black or ultra-dark grey skins? Like they're on off-shoot from some volcanic region. Basically "Salamanders" but with more axes and beards.

Once you start jays videos there is no stopping. My favorite mini content creator hands down
I wish combat patrol got the same level of love (and was good as) spearhead, especially after seeing the effort and joy you put into all of these models
Combat Patrol was a rough draft, spear head was the polished final. I feel the same
Fireslayers - a midnight blue skin tone. Looks awesome
There are some really cool schemes for Fyreslayers in their battletomes, with some exciting lore to boot. Dipping their hands in ashes, forging weapons from a unique Hyishian alloy.... I'd do one of those, maybe with some additional tattoos or cracked body paint.
Adding custom runes to the fireslayer skin, molten effects, and ashen/burned bits would be really cool. Hope this helps!
11:41 it makes me chuckle a little to everytime I hear you unironically use the phrase "Nick & Jay", as it is almost the same name of a popuar 00's boyband here in Denmark called "Nik & Jay"
I just bought 3.5k points of Fyreslayers! I CANNOT wait to see how you do them. I might actually delay my painting until i see what you cook up!

Maybe for the fyreslayers a bunch of tattoos of a contrasting colour - like the art of Gotrek Gurnisson?
I really appreciate that you time and again show off that a model is never finished! Great work!
Also idea for the fyreslayers! Green esoteric flames and hair with black lizards would be pretty cool imo. Everyone seem to paint them orange...
For Fyreslayers my favorite paintjobs have used woad, the blue dye of scottish warriors to make a blue and orange army.
Okay the stripes on the back of the bird creatures is honestly my favorite thing. Love the inspiration and actually makes me interested in the faction
Dark iron dwarves for the fyreslayers!
That looks great Jay. It is nice to see when a great painter revisits their old work
Non metallic over true metallic is such a fun idea! These all came out great and I really like the new wings. Thanks for sharing!
One of my favourite painting channels, watching from the start and to see your painting improve so much is crazy.
You are such an inspiration, I'm just getting into painting minis again you make me want to get up to higher standards and I'm learning a lot for your techniques!

Punk rock themed fyreSlayers? Crazy neon hairs funky makeup
I really love your videos, your demeanor is so pleasent to listen to
Nice work, the new paintjob is a lot more interesting for sure
I’ve always wanted to do fyreslayers, like they were corrupted by warp stone, green hair and glowing green eyes and weapons.
Like they were mining and came across some buried warp stone and shenanigans ensued. Do it Jay , I’ll live vicariously through you 😂
Massive glow up, loving the new wings
Make the fyreslayers blue like trolls from the troll movie! (But make them grimdark)
As much as I love Spearhead, normal AoS 4th edition is REALLY fun as well! Trust me! You need to try it one day soon.
Im always jotting in my hobby notebook stuff i learn from you jay like im ever gonna have the skills to pull this wizardry off. Literal masterpieces man, i love it.
9:50 - _cross guard_ or _rain guard/chappe_
The _pommel_ is the round thing at the bottom end of the handle.
Yndrasta is the anti Hamilcar. Excellent paint job btw.
I really liked your original wings, haven’t seen anyone else do a peach take on her wings. Sad to see them go
Okapi are the greatest animal in existence!
I have seen fyreslayers with internal fire and coal black skin, those looked neat.
Jay, you really outdid yourself with this Stormcast army. Beautiful job. Thanks for sharing.😊😊😊😊
Jay I love your videos. So happy I found this channel. Been watching for about a year now.
Tip on stuck oil paint caps: hit it with some heat. Run a match around the threads and it'll help loosen the oil.
Utterly gob smacking painting! The touches you made to the old paint jobs are incredible! Thank you for a great video as always! 😃
Thanks for this video Jay. I can really see how I can add to some of my minis. Also I see I can paint the models I have been putting off and add to them as I improve.
I love these Spearhead videos. Keep em coming.
Yeah they look great
My idea for Fireslayers when I was considering them was to have patches of crackle texture paint dotted around the models and paint them with Jet Black / Charcoal skin and have them look like the were made of living Magma with volcanic rock skin and a heart of Fire, with the lava colours coming through the crackle texture.
I bet you could make these look some much better than I can even imagine.
I’ve always wanted to try NMM and now I know which models to plum for 🙌
i love the fire dwarfs. i plan to make mine look like dark iron from warcraft.
This is some excellent work on the storm gods golden soldiers
Those plants look AMAZING!
Those Shields are so gooddddd
Love the blue so much!
I've been hesitating buying an air brush due to the price of one and the compressor, but you seem to get a lot of use out of your one. Makes one seem a lot more worth picking up.
Those wings looked ridonkulous. I want them.
These look astounding! Really great. And nice video too.
good luck with Fireslayers. Best thought I can give at the moment is maybe do them with rocky skin? or at least all covered in soot and ash, with glowy magma-power weapons and eyes.
Suggestion for Marine Chapter Video: any of the quartered paint schemes like Howling Griffins. Would like to see how Jay tackles
that overspray of yellow did so much holy molly
Contrast. Wode or Celtic/tribal blue tats is traditional but it'd be easier and probably more interesting to do something more fun like Maori inspired fyreslayers.

nice glow up for these minis, they look snazzy 👍
Great work Jay! They look fantastic, i absolutely love the bases! 😍👍🏻
I would do fire slayers with blue celtic war paint, it would compliment the red, add color, and I'm sure could look pretty neat
Fireslayers Idea - Cut off that head dress mohawk thing off their helmets. Then give them fur cloaks or capes made of green stuff. Base them on a frozen river using that UV liquid and the stuff that looks like snow.
Lava Fireslayers, give them the black treatments with orange and yellows in the cracks and recesses.
I think Im going to try something similar too this with custodies, I love the idea of mixing nmm and tmm.
Love the videos you guys make. Best wargaming videos on the Internet. Keep up the great work. 🎉
I am going to paint pants onto my fyreslayers and the runes line burning the pant away. Little black around the runes like char and even some skin showing on holes burned away by the runes.
Sounds interesting at least.
Turn them into blood angels. Do it
Fire slayers but use magenta and blues for a Ice fire, viking feel!
i want to see eons as a guest on play on tabletop one day with his black templars kicking butt!
On the fireslayers: put them in a weird super blue environment. Either an idealized scariff beach or a cartoonishly cold tundra.
Loved the video! awesome work as always. Also, I recently started thinking of concepts for, if the traitor chapters of the Horus Heresy remained loyal what would they look like now in primaris, sadly my painting and kitbashing skills are lacking, but maybe that could be a cool addition to your space marine chapter painting series?
damn i love the glow look, i wonder how possible it is without an airbrush
Hearing Jay say, "They were fiiinne..." always brings me back to trying to convince my parents to let me buy the newest toy when I had just gotten the last version. 😆
Hear me out... punk rock fyreslayers. Crazy colored hair, studded vests/jackets. Torn jean-like pants. Big stompy boots. Could be fun
You made her wings look so cool. She looks like an on coming thunderstorm
Holy shit, they look amazing!
As a huge Stormcast fan, I approve of this. I'd love to see you do more in the future.(Skaventide maybe?)
Jay, these look fucking FANTASTIC brother. Great job!
Fyreslayers painted like Salamander marines. Charcoal black skin, dragonscale green armor (what little of it there is), and magma glowing runes.
I have fyreslayers painted in darck green up to scorpion green and makes a fine result. ^^
Fire slayers would look cool with a cold grey blue almost rock like skin and fire/magma beards.
I for one would love to see your take on Molten lava skin on the fire slayers that could be fun and maybe with a kind of Obsidian color for the accent
Day 117 of asking Jay to paint a skitarii
grea job.. wish I could paint this good
Those Fireslayers would look really hot with a bunch of painstakingly painted freehand tattoos.
Jay what brush did you use on the swords?
for fyreslayers make their axes molten and glow, or an alternative frostburn icy color scheme
My trick to make Fyreslayers look better was to paint the armour silver, and the beards black, and then modify the helmets so the small vulkites I clipped off the mowhawk, and gave the hearth guards extra armour from old world dwarf kits! 😊
i am once again asking for your support for lizardmen
what blue did you use for the capes at first? such a good solid colour!
Looking mighty snazzy
I think fire slayers would probably look cool with a retro slayers scheme
What'd I'd love to see you paint is Skyrar's Dark Wolves. Basically Space Wolves but naughty
For the slayers, i know its probably not canon but...What about black or ultra-dark grey skins? Like they're on off-shoot from some volcanic region. Basically "Salamanders" but with more axes and beards.
You could do a winter themed fire slayers
make the fireslayers goth/punk with black eyeliners, crazy colored mohawks and tons of tattoes!!!!
for the fyreslayers how about some magenta flames?
Jay you're awesome
Fyreslayer Idea: Balrog Style. Black/charcoal skin with orange/reds/yellow runes glowing on their skin
