Lord of the Print makes some of the best dragons in the business. Cool sponsor.
Sad not owning a 3d printer. If in the future they do physical sub I'll join :)
I followed the links and they 404'ed.....now I am sad. Great video, go Mitch!
Apparently they've been legally approached by Lord f the Rings and forced to change company name :/ updated the link.
Damn, this dude's "before" level minis are actually pretty great in my book.
Yeah definitely not a true noob painter
Yup, call me cynical but...not a true noob in sight
@@thevintagewargamer He only knew enough to really base coat, wash, and highlight following the color wheel, and he is able to thin his paints correctly. I think his "before" minis show that pretty well in the different texture and application of the painting. And, like they said, his light placement existed but didn't show understanding. This is a huge leap if you know what you're looking at.
Exactly what I was thinking. He’s not a noob. It would be more fun to do it with a true noob and maybe not get them to Golden Demon standard but how far can you go in a week
That's no amatuer😅
Mitch is clearly not a beginner but I guess saying ‘we took a pretty good intermediate painter to more advanced very good painter’ isn’t as snappy
Yeah was about to say the same, i love squidmar and all but saying that this guy is complete begginer etc is just not true
Agreed.
@mariopetovar6359 hearing him call that dude a complete beginner and then seeing his minis waaay better then I did on my last minis hurt :p
gotta bait those clicks, i guess?
Not just a decent mini painter already, the dude is an artist! Different medium sure, but already understands so much about colour, compositions, information, etc.
“Absolute beginner”. - professional artist of arguably the hardest medium ever to exist
I was thinking the same thing. His “before” look better than 90% of what commission painters do.
Not music? Where sometimes dosents of people work together? Or filming, which is so hard that u cannot do it alone basically?
Plus he has been painting minis for a year
@@1991niovisual physical mediums maybe 😅
@@almisteris it refering to tattooing or minis?
I would argue that calling a tattoo artist who can paint minis like that a “noob” is a big stretch 😂
Now Emil needs to fly to Australia to learn how to tattoo from Mitch
Haha yes!
Why is this video super encouraging but also disencouraging at the same time ... His before level was already pretty damn good
Exactly my feeling. You nailed it. The way they talk about his before work is ouch, wonder what they'd say about mine 😢
Yeah I’d love to see them do this with someone who hasn’t actually painted before.
@@Twinguistics BUT i mean going from a 1 to 7 is the easy part its the 7 to 10 that top % that is a lot harder to go from. if you only base and 1 highlight, its easy to go up from there right
@@un7uckyYeah, definitely pretty hard to breach that intermediate level.
I just love that "absolute noob" means a pretty decent painter who is an artist by trade
I had to watch it twice. One for the painting and 1 for the moustache. 😂
An online course of you teaching in a similar fashion on how to paint properly would sell like crazy.
Maybe one day!
They do have a couple Masterclass videos, the ones I remember are painting skin and NMM.
@@SquidmarMiniatures I literally started googling mini painting classes at the beginning of this video. You guys sound like great teachers. Online classes would be amazing
Indeed. I learned more in this video than in 6 years of painting on my own
@@SquidmarMiniatures Ngl i would definitly pay for that teaching quality
As an Australian, I really appreciate Emil taking the time at around 11:30 to show he put in the work to understand our language and dialect.
It shows how much they care, thanks mate.
I cracked up at the call out 🤣😂😅
his starting level is pretty decent!
Wait until you see his end level :D
I'm working towards his starting level :D
I wonder if the video would be as attractive if it was titled "Artist with keen knowledge of colors and shading learns to transfer skills to a 3d object"
I think it would be more impressive if you take 52 yr like me, that has never painted a mini or even put one together. And see what could be achieved in 2 weeks. Always wanted to try but been too daunted by my expectations. Love watching your videos even if I do not partake in the hobby.
Dont let your expectations hinder you from having fun! I reccomend you just build a mini up and give it a simple paintjob. If you have watched a bunch of those tutorias, you will do fine. :)
As an Aussie, the humor in this episode was just on point. A great video and well done Mitch!
His amatuer stuff didn't lookbad at all, but still good work.
I mean he alredy had a good foundation, you just gave him the tools to excel and be exceptional.
He felt like one of you guys.
Awesome results 👍 I think his old minis were still cool, but you can't deny the improvements in such a short time
Calling this guy a noob is a bit of an insult to all the ACTUAL noobs watching :P
Those before minis are really nicely painted, but that finished squig-riding goblin was amazing! Truly fantastic job!
You guys are obviously good teachers. That's a huge skill to have on top of mastery of painting because you can actually help people reach your level. Good on you for sharing your talents like that.
Mitch's starting point is better than anything ive ever painted 😭
This was my favorite Squidmar Video so far, GG to Mitch he really gave it his all
Good work all round, Mitch obviously has the steady hand and eye for detail but the two of you must also have some excellent teaching skills.
Mitch wasn't there to fuck spiders !🇦🇺
This is one of my favourite Ozzy phrases! 😂
Never fuck a spider on a fly.
As an Aussie. I can safely say. The Swedes definitely know how to match the Aussie sarcasm, chaotic energy & humor haha.
Also. The progress Mitch made in just a week is phenomenal!.
congrats mitch, and great job teaching Squidmar crew
Amazingly smooth transition on the squig’s skin. Gorgeous.
You two should be justly proud of yourselves for your training. One to one training is the hardest thing to do and the fact that Mitch won is testament to your skills at imparting your knowledge to others. 🤩🤩🤩
Super cool vid. Really like seeing a real regular everyday normal guy go from above average tabletop worthy paint to eye level, well lit, cabinet level of painting. Nicely done!
I love to see how they teach and learn from another! That´s my favourite part of the hobby
Good to see miniature printing companies getting sponsor spot, glad to support those guys.
Congratulations Mitch!!! This was a fun video!
Stunning work by Mitch! Incredible improvements so fast! Amazing talent together with the best teachers in the world!
Love this concept: from bigger to competition winner! Please do more of these!
Awesome idea, have not seen anyone else on yt tackle and showcase something like this.
Pls more!
What I saw in this video: I turned an amustache paintstache into a mustache mustache in one mustache - Keep it forever please
Wow!! That is epic, fair play!!! You guys really knew how to nurture a beginners natural talent! I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking I wish that was me in his place. Congratulations on coming 1st.
This was an awesome video. Congratz to Mitch
If one Aussie can do it, surely all us Aussies can?
Guys. I love your paint style. Mine is more of an Richard grey one, using dots and lines to build the texture. But as I'm trying to change it, as i think its way better to make an army using steonger lights, what video would you recommend to instruct me to paint in your style?
Also, nice moustache, my wife doesn't allow me to have one lmao.
i wish this would be a real beginner. like this dude paints better than a lot of painters in the first 2 years..
This sort of video is brilliant, love the work guys
Yeah you guys completely undersold his starting point. 99% of people look at that and would say he's already a pro. He'd probably win any local painting competition without an issue.
Awesome paint job, Mitch...with such fab inspirations from his mentors!
what an moustache !!! 😲😍
WINNER
@@SquidmarMiniatures Is it a moustache-off with Miniac?
This was a really fun one to watch. Congrats Mitch the nmm turned out great!
yo this man is just giving me the motivation to painting again damnnnn
More vids like this please 👍 would love to see how far you can take a beginner in 1 week
I would pay for a plane ticket and classes with you two. Amazing artist.
I love how Mich said he isn't beeing bullied to much, and Lucas took it to heart to change that
😂
Love you Lucas
I thought this was such a cool video! Seeing someone go from what I consider to be quite good to beyond was really fun!
"two balls in a bag" caught me off guard, love it
Dammm that looks frigging awesome, well done Mitch.
Full send on the mustache. Keep it growing. Also damn be sick to get master class apprenticeship on painting miniatures sounds like a good stressful week. His beginner painting still looks better than my 10 hours on a mini
Most talented noob ive ever seen. He’s before is amazing.
This was an amazing video, great idea.
Once in a lifetime opportunity 😊
Really great job you guy's all knocked it out of the park in my opinion great to see you all share the success Love from the UK E-TRON!
Great painting by Mitch! So when are Emil and Lukas learning tattoos?
Going to watch this lots and lots and then enter a compo - enjoyed it.
The Dadstach alone deserves a like!
This is a fantastic video idea! I would be elated to have the opportunity Mitch did! Please do more of these teaching videos!
Great video, thanks!!
I guess we absolutely would dig a master class series beginner to pro
😍
Guys this video was so cool! I feel this coaching-like videos are a BOMB!
Amazing work that was! :D
Do I smell a How-to course series on the horizon? If you need another armature painter to come over and do another teach them video, I guess I'll volunteer. But I can't come in the winter 🤣🤣
The moustache was the highlight, looks so dapper 🥰
"I turned a painter who's better than you into someone who paints better than you ever will in one week" - there, I fixed the title for you :P
thats awesome! would love to see more of these zero to hero vid's
This is like getting your parents to do your school art project 😂
So in a shock twist jazza is now going to teach a swedish amateur in Australia.
Great video and great tips. Also cheeky bonuss having Henry Cavil as a guest presenter
I mean he couldnt have been a total noobie because he WORKS WITH COLOUR, and with your support there to build the techniques and provide the tools, and assist with the choices... I mean, it might sound like i'm taking anything away from him and it`s not the idea, what I mean is that he was already great from the start and you guys helped him channel it properly, what a great and inspiring video this was !
I think that if he didn`t win anything just comparing the first paint job to the one he did here was enough xD, but hey, he ACTUALLY made it ? Insane.
The squig looks bad ass, top notch!
Not just the time crunch, but I can't imagine what kind of jetlag he has to be fighting as well
12 hours at least, dude made time travel to Sweden)
Tattoo artists make bank. No reason he didn’t have a couple extra weeks beforehand to adjust.
"aussies can't paint" table top time would like words XD
How to make a video and make 623k subscribers -1 envious without a title of "How to make all our subscribers -1 envious" Oh man, what I would give to have Emil and Lucas giving me painting lessons and then having them sitting next to me coaching me along the way.. Just that alone, would be epic enough, but to have them help me win a painting competition and win! Geez. Ok, I'll stop being envois, it was a great video.. .thanks for sharing!!
The mousestache made me spit out my coffee.😂
Man it would honestly be so cool to spend a week learning how to paint from you.
Come on guys, he was nowhere near a noob!
Super cool to see a local Melbournian step up their painting game! There were a few flaws in the final piece (the NMM on the back of the weapon arm looks really quite rough) but definitely a step up from his starter level, and snagging a win! Big ups all round, and I hope to see more stuff from Mitch soon (ArcFest is around the corner!) ;)
"Before" paint job is well beyond what I aim for as my highest end goal 😅.
Great fun! And since Australians cannot paint, I can stop trying and just relax :)
Awesome moustache. 10 out of 10!
As and Australian myself, Lucas calling him an Aussie C#*$ is defiantly the best part
congratulations from one Australian Mitch to another!
His before minis are extremely above average, I’d love to see what you could do with someone who’s literally never touched a brush to a mini before.
Dam, I'd pay to have these guys teach me how to paint minis to that level
DUUUDE that Squig is so cool; the clear saliva is so clear, and the colors spread so smooth, fucking gorgeous.
Mitch is living the dream honestly
Well done boys 👏👏👏
I fuggin' love the Loonboss! Still need to paint mine... 😅
I would go to your painting school too . To learn how to paint miniaturs the right way i started painting with dark angels 😊
Congrats to Maxime on his third place!
Well done🥳🥳
Good job Mitch!
I vibe with the Stache 👌
You ever see those video clips where a little kid cries when they see their dad after he has shaved his beard off? I kinda had the same reaction to this "situation".
Come to papa
You guys make NMM look so easy!
He had a base of an artist already which helps a lot. Good job Mitch! I just got back into 40K after 20 years and doing NMM Custodes!
This felt like my worst nightmare. Both of you are breaking my work down systematically 😂 except this nightmare. You are only out to hurt me here😂
His before minis smoke mine, learned so much in this video though!
