    Hey Arron ,
    I picked up a pair of
    Evox J8’s about 4 months ago , having now gigged them 10 times in a variety of locations some big some small ,I can now say that they are amazing,and I could not be happier with them. A complete game changer in terms of set up and tear down ,and sound amazing. Recommend them 10/10 .

      Hi Brendam. How many people have you gig'ed this for ? Do you carry an extra Sub along with you ? I am looking at portability as well and thinking of switching.

      @@DJDesiEvents I’ve gigged the Evox j8s up to 150 people.Most of my gigs are in Bars ,Hotel Function rooms ,sports halls etc.My previous set up was a pair of EV Zlx 15p Tops with EV ELX 18” Subs .Sound was incredible but I couldn’t continue to transport them the set up and tear down was simply too much .So I replaced them with the RCF s .
      So are they as good as the EV s answer is no but you have to be realistic about it your not comparing like with like .But they do come close and they are a total game changer in terms of transport.Perhaps the EV Tops and subs were OTT for my usage .But the J8s are my go to set up now and I couldn’t go back. I honestly can’t fault them .
      I hope this is helpful.👍🏻

    I’d have to agree with you on that. I have the Evox J8’s and I tend to take those with me when I am in crunch for set up time and space, but my go to speakers for wanting great sound would be the Bose L1Pro32’s (But I never ever have a problem of clipping the sub 2), I do run my mixer into either line one or two. I did a couple of pool parties
    this year and I brought Evox 8’s and sat out in the audience. They sounded fantastic. Then I brought the Bose L1Pro32s and Everybody complimented me on the sound, it did sound amazing, and the people that sat off to the side could hear it perfectly. The bass was absolutely incredible. Also, I did want to mention there was an update on the Bose firmware, which now allows you to run two in stereo with Bluetooth.

    A few years back I went into the store to buy The Bose unit. While I was there the shop guy suggested I test the Rcf also (Evox 8 V2). There was no comparison. The Rcf might cost more but it beat The Bose in every department imo.

  • @DestroyerOfLiberals

    The 515/808 combo is all about touring grade high end sound and ultra portability - those other alternatives can't offer that.
    If I wanted more power, I'd get a TT 08-A and TTS 15-A combo. Big compromise on portability, obviously.

    At least in UK, Evox J8s are around £800, with JMIX8 going for £900 and Bose with the SUB2 is......... £2500!! Not even in the same price league.

    The Bose system is just ugly. Aesthetically they’re just not pretty. I also just love RCF. Sound wise I prefer RCF as well. I own a pair of J8s and I’ve used the Bose for gigs, planning on getting the 515/808 setup eventually.

  • @Grapevine_DJ
    @Grapevine_DJ ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yup, Bose pro 32 sounds the best…was not loud enough and I did not like the separate (Awesome) subs so sold them. I bought the Evox 12s. Loud, can get the tops high above the guy with the hearing aids seated in front of me (though I ask for no tables in front of me) a bit harsh when cranked but at least I can get the music to the back of the dance floor when I’m 20 feet away from it even though I asked to be next to the goddamn dance floor.

  • @markbfresh
    @markbfresh ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I prefer my rcf j8s WITH A CENTERED SUB whenever possible. If the room is bigger and/or there are more people, I take my 15" Yamaha tops with 1 or 2 CENTERED SUBS! Obviously, I am a firm believer in centered subwoofers. That's based on science and real world tests.

  • @jonathanberube5056

    When purchasing the RCF TT515 I went with the TTS15 subs because I did not think the 808 subs would hit hard and low enough to keep up with the 515. This combo is killer, but you do sacrifice some portability with this sub. The TT515 do get harsh if you are right near them, but not any more than any horn/woofer speaker. The column array will always sound less harsh close up because the sound is spread out over many drivers vs two super powerful drivers.

    • @DestroyerOfLiberasts
      @DestroyerOfLiberasts 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I have a pair of TT 10-A and TTS 15-A subs would go perfect with them. TT 515-A is unbeatable for portability, however they are not in the same league as TT 10-A.

    jmix8 app and mixer are shocking. when the app freezes, the onboard controls freeze up too. you have to restart the speaker and app. I've extensively tested the jmix at home and it was fine. as soon as I was at a gig, it started f'up. you're better off bypassing it. the other downside is the j8 is heavy and only has one grab handle. not something you with to carry up steps to the car or steps to venues.

    • @DjCraighowarth

      Bring your volume down on your 515 tops. EQing will only do so much. If they sound harsh it’s because the bass needs more volume than the tops.

    Great video Aaron. I actually think the Bose is by far the loudest if you have the low end to support it. The tower is just insane and has so much headroom. I would say that the tower outruns the Sub 2, and the Sub 2 runs out of breath, making you think it's not as loud. With that said, the Sub 2 still pounds harder the the J8 and deff goes lower. Is that not your experience?

    • @AaronStrawn
      @AaronStrawn  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I used to stack my B2 Subs and they'd sound insane!. Now I tried the same trick on the Sub 2's and for some reason, the bass cancels out instead. Both basses have the same polarity switch in + position. When I turn off one of them, the bass comes back in fuller force. When I turn both on, the bass diminishes! I have tried this both at home and at a venue, and the results were the same!

    Cannot compare j8’s to TT 515’s + 808’s. J8’s are not from professional line, while TT’s are.
    808’s are 129db spl peak, J8’s are 128 db spl from top+sub.

    Hey bro I can name one other drawback of the J mix I own one also and I love it. On three different occasions after doing shows sometimes before the shows the J mix top speaker slips out of that stupid friggin rubber band. They got in the back to hold it in. Go figure amazing. Can’t believe it couldn’t hold the speaker in. Three times I had to worry if it was gonna be ruined. I know that they’re made sturdy, but I was pulling it out off of a truck bed that was 4 feet high and it fell from 4 feet. That’s a pretty bad reason to mess up your J mix because they didn’t have a better secure idea for the top speaker.

I also have a pair of Bose sub 2s that I use with either the evolve 50s or my Turbosound ip 300s that are a lot easier to haul than the LD system. Great video as always 👍

      After I sold the first set and had to box all that up...I was like..nah..I'm keeping this lol. I'm glad I did. It's great to have different options for different parties.

      @@AaronStrawn I figured that. I’m the same way, an equipment addict and when I get to getting rid of something I usually regret it. Luckily I do have a minivan so that makes things alot easier space wise. I too like having multiple options to fit the venue. I think u might be regretting jumping on the hype train and dropping all that $$$ on those rcf 505s and the 808s. You shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to get good sound out of a speaker set that costs that much. I think I might be seeing those on Reverb after you get your LD systems speakers.

      @@aaronthedj12 I wouldn't wonna push that Sub2 too much though. For some reason, at a good max tower volume, even if the sub2 volume is at min, you'll still clip it (thanks to the "no-clip power" of the tower). Two (2) of my Sub2's have so far bricked themselves with a red light on the power switch

      @@AaronStrawn I’d agree with this. I’ve done weddings with one but less than 100 people. A banger 175 wedding with a pair of Sub2’s they started clipping. Have to couple them if you need max output. For bigger events I now bring 4 Sub2’s. They kick butt. 600 kid event, two Pro32’s and two JBL Eon One Mk2 fill speakers with four Sub2’s and they didn’t sweat it.

      I also strongly disagree... unfortunately you've just had bad experiences or bad demos...
      That being said most that complain the Sub2 clips too early have not updated the firmware (update re-writes the limiter program threshold to unleash the full power of the sub before clipping). After I updated mine, it was a totally different sub. I've consistently been doing gigs with 200 -250 ppl with ease. I'm a loud rnb hiphop house reggae DJ. No complaints.
      P.S. I own the J8s as well. They are also great but they both have limits as Aaron said

      @@BSEStudios The RCF J8 have a 12" subwoofer. They are not designed to handle large crowds neither. Your standards for sound reinforcement are different than mine. I use QSC K8 and K12 with KW181 subwoofers for large applications. Bose speakers are too fragile for those duties.

    • @BSEStudios
      @BSEStudios 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @DJTEDDY507 we have similar standards, I'm sure ...limiting the Bose setups to "Cocktail" speakers is a bit of an overreach...I'm coming from 15" EV ZXA5's over Dual KW181's. HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY Setup...I ran that setup for years, large crowds and all. Now I'm running RCF 932A's w/ Bose Sub2's. My last wedding of 250+ was nothing short of perfect. Sub2's (when coupled) produce far better 'Quality Bass' than my KW181s that I've run for years. Bose Subs are modular and designed to be stacked & coupled. If you listen to 2 or 4 x Sub2's (much easier to transport than 181s), you would never return to QSC. Kw181s are work horses, and I loved them for a time, but as far as sound to weight ratio for a single Op DJ, There's is no comparison.
      As for the J8s. I'm fully aware they have 12" woofers and not for large crowds at all. But they have their place in the Sub 100 guest small room wedding, baby shower, retirement party space. They are great go-to for quick events where 1000watt 90lb 181s & 1000watt tops have no place. Just my 2 cents 🪙 🪙
