  • My opinion on the RCF TT-515 TT-808
    Also forgot to mention that one of the speaker pole adapters broke already and I had to send RCF a replacement/repair form still waiting to hear back.
    I have used these speakers for about 7 events total. Owned them less than a year.

    This is a high end super lightweight PA set. Of course it's not gonna be as loud as conventional PA with 15-18 inch subs. If you bought this set expecting it to do something that it obviously can't - it's your own fault.

      You must have misunderstood the video I was stating that djs on TH-cam we’re saying these are game changers for mobile gigs and they’re far from that for the price of 8-9k

      Agreed. Super lightweight PA with premium sound. But you have to understand what you buying. If you buy a premium private jet you’ll get premium features but you ain’t gonna fit as many people as the passenger planes that cost the same. That’s all about physics. The same is for the speaker. You’ll get the premium sound for suited events. The 2x8 will not be able to fill a concert hall even if you put electronics worth 3 billion in it.

    Jason J. made a lot of $$$ making those videos and kick back from RCF! DJ Guru also pushed these. Have to be careful listening to one or two DEALERS on TH-cam. Called RCF and they said these were never designed to be DJ speakers. These are made for fixed installs and fill speakers. I have a single TT515 which I'm happy with the quality of the sound for small gigs. Never would have spent that $$$ on small subs! I have a $800 QSC K8.2 which is very close in performance to the TT515!

    Your opinion about RCF TT series is not relevant, you bought wrong tool for the job, those speakers are not for DJ weddings for 200 people. This is professional TT series and they have their purpose in professional world. Good example for RCF speakers for wedding DJ's are cheapest ART 9 series with 800x subs. Costs less than 8000 euros and have 3x more power.

    This video and the comments just prove DJ’s know nothing about sound reinforcement. It has nothing to do with the price, You were playing in a giant room with 127db speaker, that’s like putting a 4-cyl engine in a F-150 and complaining about lack of power! People buy iPhone pros and so they think they know how to shop, you don’t! Get 135db 15inch with 18inch sub at half the price and you be good, why the hell does a DJ need the RDNet processing power of a TT+ ? They don’t yet you’re paying for it. You wouldn’t get a Honda civic to haul around lumber and so small speakers are not going to work for you, sorry can’t have both worlds, good gas mileage and heavy hauling power.

    I dont know what you ended up getting but I sold my Evolves because I just got way too much feedback. I ended up going with the Maui 44s and man oh man, now these are game changer for column arrays. I did look at the TT 515 but man for the price the SPL is only 127, which is the same as the Evolve 50s. The Maui 44s are 132 SPL so its going to throw further and the low end hits you in the chest. Thanks for honest feedback.

    You could spend 80k, you simply can’t change physics. Expecting a twin 8” sub and twin 5” tops on a room a 1/3 thats size is doable.. you’d havre been better getting the 910 tops and either 8003 or 705v3 subs and save 2.5k. Bigger driver allows for more air movement regardless of specs.

    At the end of the day classic point source speakers are always the best way to go.
    Get small, lightweight 10 inch speakers that are easy to lift on poles.
    Then get 2 powerful single 18 inch subs. Not a dual.
    If the dual fails, you’re left with no bass at all. If 1 of the 2 subs fail, the other will save the night.

  • @alexexpress
    @alexexpress 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    It's easy! You asked them to do what you know they can't do. Using speakers that open 100 degrees horizontally with a peak SPL of 127 dB plus a sub that has a peak SPL of 129 dB is simply the result of naivety or not wanting to fully understand what is written in the technical data sheets. The truth is that many audio systems are used badly, for spaces that are too large, especially compared to the pressure they develop. The 515s must be used with the TTS 15A subs and you will see that the greater power on the low frequencies will make the perceived volume much higher on average and then you will not even push the 515s to clip.
    Furthermore, the clarity and transparency of reproduction that the 515 and the entire TT series (which is the top of the RCF range) cannot be compared to non-reference products such as Ld system or similar column array system: these products are not used as professional standards while the tt series is.
    Finally, it is also necessary to understand which files are played on the system and which mixer the signal comes out from: if you use controllers with amateur and non-pro quality sound cards therefore different from djm 900nxs2/djm a9/djm s11 or Rane Mixer, it is probable that a very hi-end pro audio system enhances digital distortion or excessive file compression or poorly dynamic mastering. Quality systems do not accept even little distortions (such as d&b audiotechnik, L Acoustics, Meyersound with which the TT series can compete).

    Judging by the speaker specs you would know this wouldn’t be used for large weddings. 127 db max on the tops and 8 inch subs. This is great solution for small bars/events and venue spaces. Impressive for its size for sure, but it’s just physics in the end. There is so only so much you can get out of a small speaker. I have two rcf systems, 735 and 708 subs and the evox 12. The 7 series I use for large events and the evox for most weddings. Two 735s at 132 db is plenty for weddings. You also get great low end as well.

    Thanks for the honest review. We personally love RCF products but the size and power of these definitely had me questioning the effectiveness. You also were set up for failure in this room by the distance from the dance floor. As you know, you need to be right in front of the dance floor.
    As for the Maui LD G44… I’ve heard good things and it comes with a 15 or 18” sub I believe. I think that’s the key to getting good sound and bass. I have a set of way more expensive LD Maui P900 (Porsche Design) which is supposed to be even higher end. They have a dual 10 or 12” in the sub bottom. They just don’t cut it for anything larger than a small room with less than 100 people. Plus I purchased them in white color. They look very sleek but I am so paranoid that a drunk person is going to spill red wine on them. Sometimes we splurge on a purchase and realize we made a mistake. A great speaker for the money is the RCF Art-912. Blows away QSC K.2 series in sound quality in that price range.

    Im not sure why anyone would think 8" subs will feel a room. I mean do you see concerts utilizing small compact systems? And dont say they use arrays because their arrays are nothing like this. I dont care what bs Jason or any of these sponsored DJs tell you when it comes to sound size matters. And honestly why would you spend 8k on a sound system designed to be used for gigs that pay $1-$2k. I mean you know you cant do huge prom or corporate function where youd make enough to justify 8k for the speakers. So here ya are spending 8k for wedding speakers and ya still need to drop a lot more if you wanna do a big production.

    • @TheDjelements

      I never said "8 subs would 'feel' a room? I never once mentioned using small, compact systems for concerts. As seen in earlier videos on my channel, I would use my four JBL VRX 918sp and four 932lap speakers if I wanted to dj larger projects. Bringing smaller speakers to DJ smaller events is the topic of this piece. For smaller weddings, are you suggesting that you charge $1-$2,000? I'm not sure. This was not a post about providing sound for a big prom, haha.

    Damn! I guess you don't always get what you pay for in this case.
    I'm also thinking that DJ's need to spread their speakers out further apart instead of having them so close to each other. Do you think that would help?
    Especially if you're in a huge room. I would think you would at least want the speakers 100 ft apart from each other.
    You need to cover a room especially if it's large and if it's large it seems to make sense to me that you'd want to spread the speakers out further apart.

    I personally love the TT-515A, while using them in combination with 9004-AS subs.
    The TT808-AS is just a small sub, replacing a single ~12" Cone (in comparison), meaning it's about a half of an 18" sub.

      515a works great just depends on size of the room and crowd

      Do you use a pair of the 9004-as with the pair of TT-515? What do those subs cost? The dealer only pricing is hidden online. Thanks!

    Thank you for the honest review. Appreciate it very much. How do you feel about using the 515's with bigger subs ? like 705 ? And big mistake with the videographer. He needs to plug into your mixer (rec out), not your speakers.

    • @TheDjelements
      @TheDjelements  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It depends on what size crowd you are working with if the event has 70 people sure! if its 150 ppl nope you will be hitting the limit light all night

    I think the honest answer here is Meyer X20's. I've got 14 of them at my shop, and they're killer!

    • @evanturunen
      @evanturunen 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@WWeiss-nv5vz Remember though, you need to throw it into prediction to see it actually hit that. A lot of speakers from most manufacturers won't hit their rated spec sheet specs in general settings. With Meyer boxes, you're likely to get a lot closer to that rated spec.
      By 124DB (assuming it's A-Weighted) you wouldn't be in the room anymore anyways.

    • @WWeiss-nv5vz
      @WWeiss-nv5vz 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Same story as TT515- Thousands of dollars for a small speaker. Besides weight/size, WHY?@@evanturunen

    • @evanturunen
      @evanturunen 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@WWeiss-nv5vz You’re not just paying for the size of the box. If you look at RCF’s box, it’s got RD-Net built into the back which is a HUGE selling point for many people looking to deploy these as front fills for a larger system, and on both the RCF and the Meyer box, you’ve got some fantastic drivers in there, so sonically, they’re incredibly transparent.
      For someone tuning a rig, having something that is transparent in the box itself, that’s huge. The RCF boxes are incredibly inexpensive for what they do, and while the Meyer boxes are definitely not cheap, both are certainly very impressive. In terms of output, an X20 will get as loud (albeit A-Weighted) as a K12.2 with no problems.

    • @WWeiss-nv5vz
      @WWeiss-nv5vz 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good point about RD-Net. Great feature for fixed installs which these were designed for. My beef is these or the X20's are not DJ speakers. I own the TT515 which do have incredible clarity but hard to justify the price. X20 $4,880 each!! I've never heard them but specs: 45-20Hz are not very impressive. Besides weight advantage, I would not trade them for my QSC KW122 at $1,350 131dB/50-20Hz Again, just talking since I've never heard them:)@@evanturunen
