    I feel you. I have already got grief from people because I went from the Pioneer DDJ-1000 to the Denon SC6000's and X1800 mixer instead of waiting a few weeks for the Opus Quad or FLX-10. I bought the players and mixer for me. Not for other DJ's, not even for my clients. This is the first year I bought "toys" that I can also use for work. I don't care what people's opinions are. As long as you have the gear that accomplishes your objectives and your client is giving you 5 star reviews, everything else is secondary.

    Totally get the request issue, I started using request now and being able to text back to folks that the song has been played or that is on the "do not play list" or something similar. It really has changed the dynamic since I'm not telling them no to their face when thier request sucks or doesn't fit the vibe.

  • @DeeJay_IMB

    It really just comes down to you sound reinforcement objective. I was looking at the 515 but i've seen video of them clipping. Me personally I wouldn't spend that amount of money for a system just to limit when I push it. I do have a pair of Stagepas MKII that limit faster than I would like, but I use them for small event like birthdays and anniversaries under 70 people. I run a pair of Yamaha DZR15 tops and DXS18 XLF subs. Is it more work setting up maybe... Do they take up more space absolutely, but when the time comes to get some volume they deliver. As much as people want to know the best speakers to buy, the answer is there isn't a best. If your speakers get loud enough for your events perfect. If they don't buy something with more SPL. Good video Aaron.

    • @AaronStrawn
      @AaronStrawn  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Totally agree. The good news for me, I haven't seen the 515s hit red. And I had a pretty good sized group and room. I feel good about the moving forward, and I really do think they sounded amazing

  • @djmattames
    @djmattames ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I appreciate your reviews and taking the time to share with us. I have the Xvive U3, but haven't really taken it for a test drive yet, and lav systems definitely seem like the way to go. The EVERSE 8 is above and beyond in performance for what it is, and I think the impact of how good it is will only enhance future Electro-Voice and other manufacturers' products. I'm interested in the 515/808 combo one of these days when the price and my budget align, or seeing what they, too, inspire other manufacturers to do. Agreed about the poles. Hopefully RCF will start crafting their own and/or designing some as sleek as their speakers. I think Gravity would be a good partner for them if they wanted to continue outsourcing. Both companies seem to put a lot of time and care into engineering/doing things a bit differently than others. Thank you for sharing, but also shame on you for not showing that FLX10 in action!!! This gig must have been before your embargo was lifted (or while there was still pizza in the box....).

    • @AaronStrawn

      This made me laugh out loud bro. Yeah, I think we should see some smaller systems coming out that give us the punch but save the BACK

    • @J-DJ
      @J-DJ ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gravity is Adam Hall Group, and so is LD Systems, and with LD´s effort the last couple of years to get their Maui 28, Maui 44, ICOA series etc sold to as many DJ´s/musicians/bands as possible I dont think they want to waste time making hardware for RCF. Lets see if LD comes with a new "Maui 28" with a more powerful 12" sub than the 2x8" (in G2) at NAMM as Travis @EliteEventsEntertainment talked about yesterday, then it probably will go "right after the throat" on both Evolve 50 and Evox J8. Look at how the Maui 44 G2 (black AND white) made the Evox 12 look like a boring old 2015-model black column-array (white only on bigger special orders).
      I think LD and Gravity has tasted blood and are going for a bigger market share in the wedding DJ/band segment.

    • @AaronStrawn
      @AaronStrawn  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@J-DJ We love buying speakers, and they gotta be watching the ones that catch fire and the ones that flop. Those 28 G2s definitely had my attention, but they were years old and I was worried about that sub.

    • @J-DJ
      @J-DJ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AaronStrawn The 28 G2 with 2x8" sub was to weak compared to the top section. A 12" woofer with 3" voicecoil in a long-throw design with a lot of x-max so it can push some air would be nice, lets see what LD presents in the future, they need to bring it up to a worthy "little brother" standard to the 44 G2😜Maybe EV comes with an Evolve 70 with 15" sub, I like when there is competition and the R&D departments have to work late 😀

    • @djmattames
      @djmattames ปีที่แล้ว

    I LOVE the TT515, especially the 100degree dispersion, but wish for a non RD-net version, cheaper and to use with separate DSP--management and subs. The TT808 not so much 😏,44 lbs is great, 40-400Hz .......the 40Hz I guess is at -10dB (RCF wont tell), and up to 400Hz in a SUB = if you play Barry White all night you almost dont need the tops ! Okay 129dB but more punchy than deep. I saw Jani pack 2 x TT808 each side/per TT505 thats probably necessary and then ends at 88lbs of subs/side. The RCF SUB 702AS is also 129dB with 12" woofer, 40-120Hz (you will need tops for Barry🤣) ,40lbs and CHEAPER, TT515 70-20.000Hz so no problem x-over freq about 100Hz via Digital Speaker Management like DBX Driverack PA2 or similar (the dear Rick Webb has very good videos about the driverack).
    Rule of thumb: 2x8" equals about a 12" cone area, 2x10" = 15" (fx Bose F1 sub), 2 x 12" = 18". So what Jani did with 2 x TT808 each side was making a total subwoofer cone area of about an 18", and that is what that little TT515 deserves.
    Congrats on your new speakers, as a faithfull subscriber I will follow your giglogs in the future, if you start DJíng only 70years birthdays or don´t have any grannies shouting "turn down that bass" I know your TT setup is lacking the deeper low-end bass. Btw you can always buy a 18" inch subwoofer and hide under the dj-booth 🤣
    Taste is different, you like dual 8" subs, DJ Solstice like dual 21", I´m in the middle: not as lazy as you but my back hurt to, and I´m not as young and strong as DJ Solstice.

Jani said he use 4 tt808, Why so much money if there better option for less money 💰 and Dj Solstice 2 dual for wedding is extremely loud and unnecessarily for weddings.
