“That was sold on EBay a long time ago. Since then, I interviewed Mr. Ibe” made my brain hurt for a second lol. I thought you interviewed a guy named Mr. eBay.
Bought my wife a G-shock for her birthday. She initially wasn't that keen. But I reminded her about how her last watch went through the washing machine, the one before that got buried at the allotment, the one before that... She really likes it now. It's survived over a year.
I have some nicer divers and field watches in my collection, but my G Shock gets more wear than any of those by a long shot. It was only $100, it's always charged, it's always got accurate time, and I straight up abuse my watch and it can take any kind of hit or water or chemical or dust I throw at it
I've been wearing a 5610 for work for a few years now and I've just bought the full metal 5000 square and it's been getting more wrist time than all my other watches, I love it.
You know I've been thinking about this recently, love the understated almost "cheap" look my Gs have, definitely I feel deters would be thieves from looking at my wrist twice.
I love that you're a military kid too! My dad retired from the USMC when I was 16 and until then, I grew up on Marine Corps bases. I'm roughly your age and always really related to your watch opinions, and it's cool to see some common background. Thanks for the excellent content, as always! Cheers!
Adrian, any collector cannot go wrong with a G Shock. Also great to see you showing a Bark & Jack strap on the channel. You need to do it more often on your channel.
Completely agree with everything here. I have a Seamaster and a few other expensive watches...but my 3 G shocks have gotten more wrist time over the years than anything else. Love them. 👍🏻
I have had a few GShocks in the Air Force, They have all been almost the exact same version the GWM510-1 as I love the simplicity and the multi band function is elite. It is my most worn watch next to my Explorer, the other watches in my collection are a lot fancier yet those are the two that see the most wrist time.
Don’t agree with them being disposable. You can source OEM parts (strap, bezel) for a fraction of the price of the watch. Unless you crack the screen, you can easily repair a gshock
Yeah I was kind of like wtf? That was an odd comment to make, because anyone who has spent any time in the various communities knows that you can source parts for most of the G Shocks today
Glad this video came out when it did! I just purchased an F-105W from Casio and am loving it. Now, I am looking into a g Square. I liked the MRG, but then saw online how the bezel is held on.... it will be a pass from me. Thanks Adrian for the vid and quality content as always.
I love them, largely for the same reasons you do. I got a GD-350 for my birthday a couple of weeks ago and just bought a GBD-800! I now have four, having given my son a GA-2100 after he scratched his Apple watch hill climbing! They are the ideal watch for collectors too impatient to save for a more expensive watch. You can scratch the itch without the guilt of spending a large amount of money and there are so many to choose from.
Fun review Adrian. I’ve got a camo GD120C, bought in 2016. Wear to work, hunting, backyard pruning etc. Can’t kill it. Out of 18 watches, gets the most wrist time. It’s ugly, but I love it.
Another like - they are fun to mod. I have built Casioaks for all of my family members with custom dials, case colors, etc. Casios can be a fun, inexpensive hobby.
Nice collection! There are some totally clear straps, your watch had the gradient as a colour scheme, there is a blue version (strap goes into black). Casio changed the backlight because they last longer than the original Electro Luminescence (even if they don't look as cool.
Agree with all you points. Love mine. Got the second Bamford and the Orange NASA. Plus a few others. Hard to resist them. Rotate them with my mechanical watches.
I was gifted a G shock by my now wife before I began service in the military. I wore watches everyday prior to, but nothing suited for the service. I wore that watch daily and it became a part of me. I still have it and now have 5 g shocks. I feel like they are a collection within my watch collection. I always reccomend G shocks, I gift G shocks, I don’t know how people live without em. Also I love that your collection is very specific yet varies so much. Cheers.
*My* favorite "G-Shock" isn't a G-Shock - it's a Casio Pro-Trek PRG 330 series,And pretty much bypasses the issues you brought up regarding the Gs: recessed crystal to reduce possible scratching, evenly-backlit display, and replaceable strap (I found a cool mesh bracelet with magnetic clasp made just for the watch), and, as it's also solar-powered, it should last a good while longer than your usual MoonSwatch-of-the-month. (Nice collection, BTW.)
I've got a G-Shock Square that I've been wearing since the late 80's and it's still going strong. I've replaced the band a half dozen times, the battery a few times and the bezel once. Probably the best investment I've ever made given the longevity of my G-Shock DW-5200.
I recently bit the bullet and purchased the GM2100. Absolutely stunning watch. Decided to change up the strap options and add a butterfly clasp. Very nice!....oh yeah. I also bought a casioak MOD kit from SKX Mod. I love the fun and versatility of it all. Great watches. 😊👍 is there a watch emoji out there? ...that would have been good to use here🤣 as always. Love the channel, Adrian👌
After quite deliberately avoiding them for years, I got my first one a few years ago. Have bought a lot of them now, most of which my teenage kids have subsequently claimed. Currently on a G-Steel phase, and they're awesome. Certainly once you get above the basic £100 models, they are really very well made. The £500rrp GMW-B5000 feels especially good for the £320 it cost me. As you say - guilt free fun. In fact, it's rare for me to wear one of the mechanical watches now - just grab whatever style/colour/material G takes my fancy for the day and all set. Lastly, I grew up in the 80s, so that diminutive hourly beep triggers something deep in my childhood and still brings a half smile to my face.
Your last positive point is absolutely correct. Just the other day, i was wearing my $200 edifice and then i saw a guy wearing a $100-ish casioak, i just smiled
Some years ago I found my favorite G-Shock which I thought were lost. I bought it for my savings when I was 10 years old, 1984. It’s the first model with the bricks and red line. I wore that watch day and night for six years, swimming in salt water all summers. After I found it I replaced the resin case and band, a new pusher and a battery. So I don’t agree that it’s disposable 😉 Before I found my childhood watch I bought a couple of squares. But the original is still my favorite, the LCD is more legible than on the new premium squares with solar charging.
I bought my first G-Shock in 1998 - a DW-003. I loved it but the strap was fabric and it broke after about 18 months of daily wearing it🤣 I check the G-Shock line up every so often and tell myself I don’t need one - but they are very appealing.
My first G shock(MTG 910), I wore for 8 years straight, everyday. Finally the rubber housing the pins for the strap wore out and I had to get another. My second Gshock (Gwgw-7900b-1er) I've had for 12 years, wore it everyday for 10 years. Still works and going strong.
Great video! Regarding the light / lume I don't care too much about it. There are several different versions out there, even within the same model range. There are also some G-Shocks that have fully backlighted watch faces and not only a LED on one side. It depends on the module that's build in. Some do light up for 3 seconds after pushing the button, some light as long as you press the button. So overall I'm totally fine with it. I'm a serious watch addict but still do wear a lot of Casios & G-Shocks. Currently owning around 8-10 or something like this. As you said: They tend to be guilt-free pleasure which is great!
I have a few of them .. love em.. Adrian you must get one of the newer ones with the MIPS display .. ultra legible and cool ..And did you know that you can but adaptors which allow you to use a nato strap on them..
Prior to the current generation of G's Casio used Electro-Luminescant (branded "EL" or "Illuminator") panels in their LCD digital displays that lit up the entire display evenly like Timex Indiglo panels. Recent models have returned to the LED ligthing even in the LCD displays... Not sure why but it makes my older Casios even more special.
Your 3rd point of dislike “They are disposable” is pretty silly. The G-Shocks in your collection have a strong probability of outliving you. You can’t say that about many watches.
I gave both of my sons a G-Shock as their first watch. My 13yr old has had it for 2 years and never takes it off…..kicks the beans out of it and it takes the abuse, laughs it off and gets back to work. Great watches….have 3 myself.
I never thought I would see one on my wrist until I rolled the dice on a Casio GBX-100TT-2JF G-Shock. I love it. It’s my daily now and by no means is it a beater. I can’t believe I said that. 🤣
Great video. One thing I don't fully agree with is the backlight - you got it wrong. The reason why they started putting LEDs in the newer modules is because they are just as bright, last the same if not more, and consume less power which is a huge upgrade. The display is harder to read, because it's an inverted one, not because of the LED. Cheers!
Big Mayer fan, and I own the same Mayer GShock...love wearing it (worn it to two of his live shows since). Looks like you need to add a 2100 series to the lineup, noticeably thinner, a joy to wear.
That was fun and refreshing :) My favourite is a recent acquisition and it is the Eric Haze anniversary edition. I can say your collection is excellent, and my argument is the enthusiasm in your presentation :)
Got my first G-Shock (yellow solar CasiOak) near the end of last year and pretty much haven't worn anything else since. Swapped out the hair-grabby stock straps for a black rubber strap on 20mm strap converters. I wanted a totally carefree watch that I could read without reading glasses (I am VERY farsighted). The CasiOak is solar, sets itself, adjusts itself for DST, and does not have the ka-thunk ka-thunk seconds hand that always turns me off quartz watches. Also just ordered some replacement cases in different colors to play with. But yes, the light does suck. 9.7/10. Recommended.
I have 3 G Shocks along with 5 other Casios. They are fun, practical, robust, stylish etc etc. But, they are addictive and every time I go shopping I make a B line for the Casio displays which drives my G/F nuts. I already have a pretty varied collection of watches (including the Casios) but, still have this urge to buy more!!
I looooove my special editions G, the all black with pink elements to celebrate 2023 women’s month and the yellow edition sheeran. Both very comfy, beautiful and resistant watches.
Hey Adrian nice video as always…that care you’re using OMG just loved it…I am a Gshock fanboy & have around 8 Gshock in my collection so far including the 40th anniversary square on a rubber strap with gold hardware & re-crystallised back and hardware…Cheers..!!!
I've daily worn my Gravity Defier G Shock for about 8 years and even though it does have wear/tear, there's not a single scratch on the sapphire crystal, the strap is still working and the color is the same. Sure, I paid more back in the day but it's paying for itself.
I work on medical devices from IV pumps to ventilators and the 5600 has been my daily beater for almost 17 years. I also own the 6900 and the GAB2100. All have gone on adventures, vacations, moving, golf, or just weekends around the house. They are tough as nails and can fit in just about any situation. IMO every collection needs a G-Shock.
Я 12 лет использую 6900, это прекрасные часы. Работаю инженером и часы знают, что такое грязь, удары, вибрации. В 6900 есть какая-то магия, они притягательны. Привет из России!
Totally agree on the sharing aspect. Last Christmas I bought 2 dw5600 one in light blue/grey and blacked out one, the first one to my brother and the black one for me, needless to say he wears them both more than I do 😂
Best and only g shock you’ll ever need - GW-5000U - screw down case back, improved strap, Japanese made. I’ve got 10 g shocks and this is pretty much the only one I wear now
G-shock do have some where the screen itself glows, called the electro luminescence backlight, they aren't super common but I believe they are still made on certain models.
Hi Adrian! Thanks for sharing mate! We share the same DW 5600 square with black and red. Very cool. Also a casioak and a square with cordura strap. Definitely a gshock fanboy. Greetings from Madrid to Bonnie Scotland
I was introduced to G-Shocks in 1988 while in the U.S. Army, and bought my first one on my first weekend furlough and have had one ever since. I have beat on them without mercy, and they have never let me down. Nothing lasts' forever, but dollar for dollar, pound for pound, there isn't a better watch for me.
I wear a mudmaster daily (at work) but also I have 2 squares (I am planning to add a full metal square) and the DW6640. DW-6600 was the first watch I really wanted.
In a world where everyone is measuring every watch purchase to “curate a collection” g shocks are a light hearted fun side to the watch industry that everyone can enjoy
have got 2 g shocks, the mtg flame 40th anniversary and a basic black plastic solar with wave and moon graphics. bought but never wear now. feel cheap. most regrettable watches sold was the Borneo toad frogman, the poison dart frog edition and mostly the royal navy frogman. probably the best looking of all and still is. Adrian, bring back about effing time please
I bought a white DW-6900FS back in '08. Wore if for about a year, it was a hype around that time. Like you said.. the white discolours, even when not wearing it. Been wearing it again since John released that 6900. It's a watch which I will never get a bond with as I have with for example my SKX007.
I love all 10 of mine! So hard to pick a favourite, as you say they are quite classless and if a G Shock fan wearing a £3k one met someone wearing the most basic square at £50 I'm sure they'd be equally interested to see the other person's watch.
For a very long time, I only wore g-shock. I didn't get into the mechanical watch world until I was older. If I sold them all, I'd keep a black g for the daily. It's a great watch
Nice video, if we watch maniacs are honest with ourselves... G-Shocks & Casio's are all the watch you will ever need.. I mean really... I have a square with bluetooth, tough solar and a touch of color - its does all I need and looks super retro and cool too!
I love G-Shocks and have many of them both digital and dual (ana digi) display, they are a 'don't care' watch that will survive almost anything life can throw at it, I think that they are Casio's answer to Swatch watches, with all the colours and variations etc?
I’m late to the watch game but I just ordered my first Casioak Bluetooth solar version. I’ve been using an Amazfit smartwatch for years now lol I’ll see how the Casioak will be for my everyday use but I know I should get one with MIP display. I only have 5 watches in my collection and I’ve had the same couple of watches for a few years now. Contemplating on getting a Garmin Instinct 2 or Apple Watch for smart features but I’m really liking the G Shock style more. Wish they come out with one that’s a smarter watch than what they have now
I have a couple of casioaks, lots of love for g-shock in general, agree with your points. But now!!!! I need a route XX IWC and one of your straps….. bad man
A total agreed with you about g shocks picking up the cooler you are wearing I have a off white ga 2000 I also have it with the clear strap the white one has picked up blue from my coat my favourite g shock is my new GWG100 but the one I have I love hate relationship with is my Bluetooth gwb5600 I love all it functions but a have different seeing it screen I have a Casio aq s810w in white but it’s a shining white and it’s not now picked any colours yet it is a great value for money watch it looks like a g shock
The only G- Shock I regret buying is one with the negative display. Looks great in photos but actually hard to read in real life and flickers in direct light.
Other negative points: 1. The negative displays are very hard to see in a lot of light conditions. 2. Very hard to change the straps on them, need to buy end links that are a nightmare to install. 3. The function buttons are very untactile: small and hard to push with no feedback (perhaps a function of the necessary hardiness of the case). Agree on the lighting, didn’t Timex solve this years ago?
Hi Adrian, great video! Will you make a video about your newish IWC mark XX? I bought one myself a few months ago, wanted to know how it holds up to you. Mine got some scratches on the case pretty easily, and also on the anti reflective coating on the dial. Are you familiar with that? Or I’m bad at taking care of my watches😂 Either way it’s an awesome watch, I wear it every day And the new nato strap looks great! Would be a great buy.
3 months ago, I finally bought my first Gshock. Now I have 5. 🆘
That's what happened to me last year, bought 1, made 5 😅
That means it’s working
Got my first at Christmas! Now I have 4 in my personal collection 😂 I also have a 5th still in the box, ready to give to my son on his 7th birthday!!
I’m on my 3rd 😂😂
😅
“That was sold on EBay a long time ago. Since then, I interviewed Mr. Ibe” made my brain hurt for a second lol. I thought you interviewed a guy named Mr. eBay.
😂 me too!!!
😂 same
Same 😂
That's for pronouncing it as Ibei instead of Ibe. 😀
Thought he talked to eBay's owner for a way to get his watch back or something 😂
Bought my wife a G-shock for her birthday. She initially wasn't that keen. But I reminded her about how her last watch went through the washing machine, the one before that got buried at the allotment, the one before that... She really likes it now. It's survived over a year.
When u are wearing a G-shock every day to work you really appreciate its durability .
I have some nicer divers and field watches in my collection, but my G Shock gets more wear than any of those by a long shot. It was only $100, it's always charged, it's always got accurate time, and I straight up abuse my watch and it can take any kind of hit or water or chemical or dust I throw at it
@@jaxcrum1707💯 - I always miss my G-shock's complications and durability when I'm wearing my "nicer" watches
I've been wearing a 5610 for work for a few years now and I've just bought the full metal 5000 square and it's been getting more wrist time than all my other watches, I love it.
Nice! Is the difference noticeable when wearing the GW-5000u?
@adsagp it is a LOT heavier and you can feel it.
I love that no-one is going to stab me to steal my watch when I'm wearing a Gshock
No but if you live in Guam they will use a baseball bat to steal one from you.
depends if you are wearing a cheap gshock or expensive one
Cause a G Shock makes yourself a certified Street G
You know I've been thinking about this recently, love the understated almost "cheap" look my Gs have, definitely I feel deters would be thieves from looking at my wrist twice.
G-Shocks are great. I have a few and they are the go to when doing anything harsh like working on the car, mountain biking, chopping wood, etc.
I love that you're a military kid too! My dad retired from the USMC when I was 16 and until then, I grew up on Marine Corps bases.
I'm roughly your age and always really related to your watch opinions, and it's cool to see some common background. Thanks for the excellent content, as always! Cheers!
G-Shocks are definitely addictive. I have 12 of them now with seemingly more each month
I wear the GMW b5000 from 2018 ( the all metal square) everyday. It’s my favorite g shock and my daily driver. It’s the best.
Love them. 👍🏻

Former C-130 Nav here! I usually flew with either my DW5600 or my Citizen Navihawk (with a whizwheel on it).
G-Shocks are just fun...and addictive. Great collection - thank you for sharing Adrian 👍
Don’t agree with them being disposable. You can source OEM parts (strap, bezel) for a fraction of the price of the watch. Unless you crack the screen, you can easily repair a gshock
I'm proof that this is true as I'm still rockin' a G-Shock DW-5200 from the late 80's.
Thanks Adrian for the vid and quality content as always.
looking at the TVA or the new black carbon model. Both have sapphire glass
I love them, largely for the same reasons you do. I got a GD-350 for my birthday a couple of weeks ago and just bought a GBD-800! Casio got me through US Army basic training and I've had at least one G-shock (currently I have five) in my collection ever since

The G-SHOCK steel gets rid of a couple of negatives. Tough integrated steel bracelet, and the backlight is better.
Hey Adrian nice video as always…that care you’re using OMG just loved it…I am a Gshock fanboy & have around 8 Gshock in my collection so far including the 40th anniversary square on a rubber strap with gold hardware & re-crystallised back and hardware…Cheers..!!!
Casio Vintage is also a great range with really cool looking pieces for really cheap!
Biggest G-Shock downside for us big-wrist folks is their lack of extra long straps. Still love mine and it’s after market extension. 🎉
Hi Adrian!
My favourite G-Shock is my GMW-B5000V-1ER. I like the vintage finish of the steel case and bracelet.
Best wishes,
Claus
Last Christmas I bought 2 dw5600 one in light blue/grey and blacked out one, the first one to my brother and the black one for me, needless to say he wears them both more than I do 😂
Seeing that high impact case filled with G-Shocks is like seeing Navy SEAL Team 6 flying First Class and getting mani/pedi's. What the what.
Sweet collection and valid comments, great video as always Adrian, cheers
Best and only g shock you’ll ever need - GW-5000U - screw down case back, improved strap, Japanese made. I’ve got 10 g shocks and this is pretty much the only one I wear now
I have the Bamford London Edition (latest) and love it. It was difficult to get in the U.S. and I prize it above all of my other Gshocks.
Good video. You need to get a G-Shock with an MIP display like the GBX-100. You will never pick up another G-Shock without it again!
Love the black chest watch box
My GW9400-1 has been with me all over the world. We are both still alive with a lot of stories.
Where did u get that briefcase? Looks dope!!
Black Chest UK
Where can I buy that case?
I wear a mudmaster daily (at work) but also I have 2 squares (I am planning to add a full metal square) and the DW6640. DW-6600 was the first watch I really wanted.
Got two GA2100 - Summer Blue and Clear and you are right Adrian - clear strap goes discoloured quickly. Hope all ok buddy.
In a world where everyone is measuring every watch purchase to “curate a collection” g shocks are a light hearted fun side to the watch industry that everyone can enjoy
And they are practical and durable for every day usage without a doubt.
have got 2 g shocks, the mtg flame 40th anniversary and a basic black plastic solar with wave and moon graphics. bought but never wear now. feel cheap. most regrettable watches sold was the Borneo toad frogman, the poison dart frog edition and mostly the royal navy frogman. probably the best looking of all and still is.
Adrian, bring back about effing time please
I am up to 6 in my collection. Spot on about them being addictive
As a G Shock collector, it's great to see you showcasing the brand - the pros and the cons 😉 As Nico would say #godtier
Nice.
I own 5 myself. Every time i place one on my wrist i can't help but break into a smile.
On the money with all of these points. I passed a G Shock dealer on holiday recently and saw the new lume dial DW6900. Guess what I went home with?
Great video & sweet collection! 💪
May have to get that turquoise strap for my daily IWC Mark XVI
It just works so well!
Wish they come out with one that’s a smarter watch than what they have now
You have your G-Shocks in a waterproof and shock resistant Pelican case…🤣👍
I store mine under a brick in the yard.
Isn’t it ironic…you’ve stored some of the world’s most rugged and durable watches into a super-protective case 🤭
I have a couple of casioaks, lots of love for g-shock in general, agree with your points. But now!!!! I need a route XX IWC and one of your straps….. bad man
One negative I’ve been waiting for G-Shock to address is the lack of quick adjust clasps, especially on there full metal models.
I got my 1st G-shcok last January the dw6900 this year and I have the ga2100, gm2100, and bgd 565 and soon one is coming total of 6pcs
Only one thing I disagree with. Replacement parts are easily available = not a throw away watch. Life time watch😊
"They become addictive..." How well I know this. Currently at 25 in my collection.🤣
Everyone loves G-Shock! I own GA 100 and I'm very proud!
Hi Adrian, great video!
Will you make a video about your newish IWC mark XX?
I bought one myself a few months ago, wanted to know how it holds up to you. Mine got some scratches on the case pretty easily, and also on the anti reflective coating on the dial. Are you familiar with that? Or I’m bad at taking care of my watches😂
Either way it’s an awesome watch, I wear it every day
And the new nato strap looks great! Would be a great buy.
The Mark XX video is in the queue! Coming soon.
you should put the protective case in the gshock it would be safer
Just dab your black Sharpie into the white text.
That overly padded black chest seems a bit unnecessary for storing G-Shocks, doesn't it?
😂 Easy for transportation though!
