Out of all princesses listed in the video, live action Belle didn't work for me for the exact same reason Snow White doesn't. It was not Belle, it was Strong Empowered Hermione all along. Like, there is a difference between "I think I'm odd and I don't blend in" and "I don't blend in because I'm better that you and it's a fact" energy.

Belle was alongside Leia, Pocahontas, and Mulan as one of my childhood heroines and she was my least favorite part of the remake. I've since learned to just watch the original of any given Disney remake movie. And, yeah, Disney. I was a girl who liked Star Wars before you came into the picture and even before the prequels. Why is that so hard for you to understand?

Halle Bailey didn't look like Ariel, but at least they styled her correctly, she looked beautiful. But they did Ziegler so wrong ... The dress is ugly, the colors are all wrong for her, the hair is AWFUL she's like the last person on earth who needs to wear her hair like that AND she looks nothing like snow white. It's amazing to me how they got EVERYTHING wrong.
That was the era of the elaborately curled bob, and yet they give her hair no body and seriously down play her makeup. There were so many baffling choices.

Honestly feel like had Disney not made terrible choices in marketing and casting everyone would’ve just waved it off as another unnecessary remake just like the rest. But all those blunders mixed with Rachel being a PR nightmare for Disney really set them up for failure.

Once you’ve seen it, you can’t unsee it…. She is genuinely a beautiful young g woman, personality like nails on chalk, but beautiful. The styling they chose for her emphasizes all her weak physical weak points and does nothing to highlight her natural charms. I’m a history nerd, including historical textiles. They clearly weren’t trying for historical accuracy, which is fine, but why then make such incredibly unflattering sartorial decisions?
Remember when first live-action remakes starts (with 101 Dalmatians, Jungle Book, Maleficent, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast...) and Disney said they wait with remake of Snow White (or even will never do it), because it is too classy, and they are afraid to ruin it ? The tough girl Snow White was done all the way back in 2012 in Snow White and the Huntsman with Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth. A movie that has deeper themes of vanity in beauty, the pure in heart and some other ideas that were interesting
I actually really like that movie It wasn’t a masterpiece, an Oscar worthy film and it knew it It knew it was meant to be fun and let the visuals do most do the work but it was sure as hell entertaining I also commend Stewart for giving extra effort like she did: she could have chewed the scenery with Charlize Theron and that would have worked. Nevertheless, she stook the fairy tale dialect and made a valiant effort to make it come off as natural
It is funny. I thought it would be an interesting idea to make a D level parody movie about the whole Snow White movie. The basic plot would be a conglomerate organization tries to remake a doll. The doll goes on a social media rampage and turns into a curse for the conglomerate organization. Some of the main characters would be Bill Smiger, Bathy Bennedy, and Machel Leggler as the doll.

I think Gal Gadot can act. She just needs a good script to act well. The reason why she was good in Wonder Woman was because the script was good. As soon as she goes into a movie where the script is bad, she turns into a plank of wood.

Surprised people think Gal Gadot acted well in Wonder Woman. Great movie, but she’s as usual the weakest part of it. They had to give all the Amazons unintended accents because Gal refused to not use her natural and rather thick Israeli accent. Yeah she’s the lead star, but they had to rework an entire element of the film simply because she CAN’T act.
I have to hard disagree about the live action version of Belle. Belle was my favorite Disney Princess growing up, with Mulan coming in a close second, and I think Emma Watsons portrayal of her was basically just Hermione in a vintage dress. She was much more judgemental, practical and almost snobby in a way, than Belle ever was, and to me was missing a lot of that delicate softness, warmth, and head in the clouds adventurous nature that Belle exuded. Belle was a very bright girl, but she also had a really adventurous and curious spirit, she loved reading not because it was a purely intellectual pursuit but because of the fantastical stories and adventures. I thought Emma made her seem much more focused on the academic pursuit of knowledge, and much less on the pursuit of knowledge out of curious wonder - subtle but different. I was a lot like Belle, and still am I suppose, and she was a character that resonated so strongly with me as a kid. I was shy and quiet, and got lost in books. I felt misunderstood a lot and people often thought of me as a nerd or just some smart girl, but it was really more of a love of stories and finding out about the wonders of the world around me than it ever was about trying tk satisfy some intellectual goal. I felt like that dreamy curious nature really got lost in the live action, in favor of making Belle out to be this braniac intellectual who is very practical. Just my personal observation and opinion though, rant over 😅 lol ♡

Not so much with any other character. Or other Wonder Woman appearance where Dianna should be wiser, and understands the world better due to living in it for so long.

Honestly, this movie is a disservice to the classic Disney Snow White. The only Snow White live action adaptation I would rewatch over and over again would be Mirror Mirror. It's fun, campy, has a good cast, and engaging. While I do agree that Gal Gadot can't act for shit but Rachel is the reason why this movie won't be loved or well-received even if they try to make the story decent. She literally dissed the classic disney Snow White. She missed the point and continues to do so. Also Rachel really does look like she's just wearing a costume and not as the character. I don't understand how Disney managed to bring justice to Cinderella but almost the following live action remakes are either shit or only somewhat decent.

@@darthtepes That was from Snow White: The Fairest of Them All (2001) with Kristin Kreuk as Snow White, and yes Vincent Schiavelli played the tall dwarf dressed in yellow. Mirror Mirror (2012) had an all dwarf cast, Martin Klebba played a dwarf in both movies :D
The best relatively recent Snow White movie is Mirror Mirror with Julia Roberts as the evil queen. She had great lines and is a good actress in the role. It had a different take on Snow White but did it with style, heart and humor. There were actual dwarves with distinct personalities. This Snow White did have agency and actually did some sword fighting, which was cool.
The studio hiding the latest trailer from the internet is the marketing department showing they know that the moment it appears all the commentary channels will kill it.
The basic problem would be altering the mechanics of the story and thinking it will work. You have to make sure the parts fit together. The second problem is blowback. Disney's value is in IP. But if they corrupt their characters, then the hazard isn't just that the audience hates it, but that it could retroactively taint the original. So the hazard is that disney spends 300+ million proving that they don't understand story mechanics, don't understand business, and DON'T UNDERSTAND DISNEY.

The problem begins in it’s core: Gal Gadot arguably the most beautiful famous woman in the world playing an ugly witch, and an average look woman to be her target of jealousy in looks! They underestimated the audience sense of aesthetic. If they recast Snow White with an also beautiful young woman maybe it could work.

That poster has waaaay too much yellow in it; yellow is a colour that’s harsh on the eyes especially if you’ve got sensitive eyes anyway. Having it on the background actually won’t make Snow White’s dress stand out, they’ve even got the shade of the dress wrong. In the original it was a pastel light yellow, this is a hurt your eyes to bright yellow. Whoever designed it should go back to school

@MoviesAtTheBar I'll be 100% honest and say I have been following this movie and other recent Disney projects and disasters for the sheer circus and lunacy behind them. Hear me out, I want Disney to turn itself around, and be the great company it once was throughout my childhood, but for right now I watch them just to see what ridiculous decision they make next. As for this trailer, I will just say it is not good. All of the craziness surrounding it aside, everything about it felt very off-putting from the CGI dwarves and animals to the acting.
We need a Disney South Park episode. We were promised one a whole year ago. That might be the only way to get the public to know what to expect when going to see this as they won't release the trailer online.
Mirror Mirror did the soft-then-fiery Snow White really well. It showed the naive, soft and unconfident girl grow into an actual leader who could stand up to the queen, while preserving her kindness. And yes, that whole movie had nothing remotely serious about it, but I still loved how they handled the characters and the story as a whole (and Sean Bean managed to survive!!). It's one of my all-time favourite Snow White adaptations.

Snow White in 1937 version was 14. Not 24. Thinking if Disney or any other studio want to do live action remakes maybe hire people closer to the ages of the characters.

So from watching the leaked trailer. Why do we have the cliché revolution within this film? The fact is the fairy tail or original animated film does not discuss the kingdom in any great detail because it's merely a backdrop for the characters. Hell could be heavily argued that Snow white wants nothing to do with the place considering the way she's treated by her step mom (The Evil Queen). She would want to escape far away and that works in combination with her innocence of wanting to find true love, hoping someone will come and whisk her away. She wouldn't even consider fighting, that's just not in her personality. Oh yes to prove my inner beauty, I'll just start a revolution that might get several innocent people killed or injured. I don't know that would seem to work against what the story is trying to say, No? Sure killing evil people is morally neutral to good but is that Snow white? Would she allow anyone to die? Or allow innocent people to get involved? I don't think she would ever even consider it an option to revolt or fight. Honestly we don't need to know anything about the kingdom, that's not what the story is about. It's a tale to teach and scare children into behaving. I vaguely remember an adaption of the fairytale where the Queen's magic wasn't strong enough to restore her beauty after poisoning Snow, thus she was stuck into her hag form forever. Did everyone forget the live action snow white called Mirror Mirror? Gal Gadot truly cannot act… in Wonder Woman, her shit acting was hidden in her accent and her general fish out of water nature as she entered the early 20th century. She can pull off, “I don’t understand anything,” because it matches well with general lousy acting. When she’s been in the modern world for a century, yet still has that “I don’t belong here” affect, shit sticks out like a sore thumb.
Correction: not all the Disney remakes are “shot for shot” remakes. Some of them are similar but then you have Mulan which deviates from the original so much it’s almost an entirely different movie. And that was only because o she backlash with the Lion King being a shot for shot remake. So it’s a loose-loose situation.
Imagine this, you give Snow White a Helen of Troy role. The Queen wants her dead the Dwarvs try to keep her safe so the Queen sends her army Dwarvs have their animals and other folklore beings fighting for the rebelion, because of this food scourses are scarce and Snow is fighting herself by playing a role as a nurse for the rebellion side but also has kindness towards those who fighting for the Queen, which in turn, due to Snows kindness end up fighting for her side. The Queen finds out about this and decides to put things in her own hands as a last resort and takes advantage of lack of food and takes on an innocent old woman role who's 'also just trying her best to help the people' gives an apple and we know how the rest would play out Also I'd have had and Albino actress play Snow white, this would also add inclusivety and Snow is the PERFECT role for that

Let me begin my comment by telling you that all of your considerations are very interesting and well pondered, especially your critical approach to the overall movie!! Personally, I have never been a fan of Disney, not even when I was a child, but I have always admired all the original works created by Walt himself!! This just to say that it's not the Disney label, but the creativity itself that makes them stand out!! "Fantasia" is my absolute favourite, which I consider one of the truest animated masterpieces of the 20th century!! "Snow White" was a mind blowing achievement for its time and it definitely remains an undefeated prototype of what can be done with animation!! CONSEQUENTLY, most of the issues that I have with this new version are not because of the backlash/controversy/etc, but because the technical and artistic achievements of those original works are being disrespected!! The 1937 movie didn't invent fairytales: it simply showed a new way fairytales could be showed!! This new movie not only is heartless from the beginning, but it shows how you can actually regress from the meaningful results of the limited technology they had back then!! Animation in 1937 was not particularly advanced, but it had a soul and an artistic depth that still touches us today!! This new movie almost a century later is showing us how backwards we are going notwithstanding the more advanced technology at our disposition!!

Belle was alongside Leia, Pocahontas, and Mulan as one of my childhood heroines and she was my least favorite part of the remake. I've since learned to just watch the original of any given Disney remake movie.
And, yeah, Disney. I was a girl who liked Star Wars before you came into the picture and even before the prequels. Why is that so hard for you to understand?

You can tell which parts were added in reshoots because Zegler’s hair is longer and curled inwards to make it look shorter. What a disaster.
Halle Bailey didn't look like Ariel, but at least they styled her correctly, she looked beautiful. But they did Ziegler so wrong ... The dress is ugly, the colors are all wrong for her, the hair is AWFUL she's like the last person on earth who needs to wear her hair like that AND she looks nothing like snow white. It's amazing to me how they got EVERYTHING wrong.

Honestly feel like had Disney not made terrible choices in marketing and casting everyone would’ve just waved it off as another unnecessary remake just like the rest. But all those blunders mixed with Rachel being a PR nightmare for Disney really set them up for failure.

The styling they chose for her emphasizes all her weak physical weak points and does nothing to highlight her natural charms. I’m a history nerd, including historical textiles. They clearly weren’t trying for historical accuracy, which is fine, but why then make such incredibly unflattering sartorial decisions?

The tough girl Snow White was done all the way back in 2012 in Snow White and the Huntsman with Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth. A movie that has deeper themes of vanity in beauty, the pure in heart and some other ideas that were interesting

It is funny. I thought it would be an interesting idea to make a D level parody movie about the whole Snow White movie. The basic plot would be a conglomerate organization tries to remake a doll. The doll goes on a social media rampage and turns into a curse for the conglomerate organization. Some of the main characters would be Bill Smiger, Bathy Bennedy, and Machel Leggler as the doll.

Surprised people think Gal Gadot acted well in Wonder Woman. Great movie, but she’s as usual the weakest part of it. They had to give all the Amazons unintended accents because Gal refused to not use her natural and rather thick Israeli accent. I have to hard disagree about the live action version of Belle. Belle was my favorite Disney Princess growing up, with Mulan coming in a close second, and I think Emma Watsons portrayal of her was basically just Hermione in a vintage dress. She was much more judgemental, practical and almost snobby in a way, than Belle ever was, and to me was missing a lot of that delicate softness, warmth, and head in the clouds adventurous nature that Belle exuded. Belle was a very bright girl, but she also had a really adventurous and curious spirit, she loved reading not because it was a purely intellectual pursuit but because of the fantastical stories and adventures. I thought Emma made her seem much more focused on the academic pursuit of knowledge, and much less on the pursuit of knowledge out of curious wonder - subtle but different.
I was a lot like Belle, and still am I suppose, and she was a character that resonated so strongly with me as a kid. I was shy and quiet, and got lost in books. I felt misunderstood a lot and people often thought of me as a nerd or just some smart girl, but it was really more of a love of stories and finding out about the wonders of the world around me than it ever was about trying tk satisfy some intellectual goal. I felt like that dreamy curious nature really got lost in the live action, in favor of making Belle out to be this braniac intellectual who is very practical.
Just my personal observation and opinion though, rant over 😅 lol

Honestly, this movie is a disservice to the classic Disney Snow White. The only Snow White live action adaptation I would rewatch over and over again would be Mirror Mirror. It's fun, campy, has a good cast, and engaging.

The best relatively recent Snow White movie is Mirror Mirror with Julia Roberts as the evil queen. She had great lines and is a good actress in the role. It had a different take on Snow White but did it with style, heart and humor. There were actual dwarves with distinct personalities. This Snow White did have agency and actually did some sword fighting, which was cool.

The basic problem would be altering the mechanics of the story and thinking it will work. You have to make sure the parts fit together. The second problem is blowback. Disney's value is in IP. But if they corrupt their characters, then the hazard isn't just that the audience hates it, but that it could retroactively taint the original. So the hazard is that disney spends 300+ million proving that they don't understand story mechanics, don't understand business, and DON'T UNDERSTAND DISNEY.
I think they are not only afraid of the backlash but also the retorts from She Who Cannot Keep Her Mouth Shut.

The problem begins in it’s core: Gal Gadot arguably the most beautiful famous woman in the world playing an ugly witch, and an average look woman to be her target of jealousy in looks! They underestimated the audience sense of aesthetic. If they recast Snow White with an also beautiful young woman maybe it could work.

That poster has waaaay too much yellow in it; yellow is a colour that’s harsh on the eyes especially if you’ve got sensitive eyes anyway. Hear me out, I want Disney to turn itself around, and be the great company it once was throughout my childhood, but for right now I watch them just to see what ridiculous decision they make next.
As for this trailer, I will just say it is not good. All of the craziness surrounding it aside, everything about it felt very off-putting from the CGI dwarves and animals to the acting.

Mirror Mirror did the soft-then-fiery Snow White really well. It showed the naive, soft and unconfident girl grow into an actual leader who could stand up to the queen, while preserving her kindness.
And yes, that whole movie had nothing remotely serious about it, but I still loved how they handled the characters and the story as a whole (and Sean Bean managed to survive!!). It's one of my all-time favourite Snow White adaptations.

So from watching the leaked trailer. Why do we have the cliché revolution within this film? The fact is the fairy tail or original animated film does not discuss the kingdom in any great detail because it's merely a backdrop for the characters. Hell could be heavily argued that Snow white wants nothing to do with the place considering the way she's treated by her step mom (The Evil Queen). She would want to escape far away and that works in combination with her innocence of wanting to find true love, hoping someone will come and whisk her away. She wouldn't even consider fighting, that's just not in her personality. Oh yes to prove my inner beauty, I'll just start a revolution that might get several innocent people killed or injured. I don't know that would seem to work against what the story is trying to say, No? Sure killing evil people is morally neutral to good but is that Snow white? Would she allow anyone to die? Or allow innocent people to get involved? I don't think she would ever even consider it an option to revolt or fight.
Honestly we don't need to know anything about the kingdom, that's not what the story is about. It's a tale to teach and scare children into behaving. I vaguely remember an adaption of the fairytale where the Queen's magic wasn't strong enough to restore her beauty after poisoning Snow, thus she was stuck into her hag form forever. It was a very strong message for child me; vanity and jealousy will make you ugly on the inside, and if you center your life goals around them, it will spoil your outside as well.

Bloat is when a company spends millions of dollars on a nice, safe, focus tested, politically correct piece of entertainment that’s designed to please as many people as humanly possible, and then when it’s out they fail to make back their money because the game/movie/tvshow only made millions and they needed to make billions to turn a profit.

I oddly think this is all planned and they are doing this on purpose. Right now everyone is talking about it and how it's not released. When it does release they'll get massive viewings numbers due to people just being curious. All publicity is good publicity. They can then use the high view numbers as positive press. Also they'll use people's curiosity as positive press.
But if they are so woke, why are women attacking women? Why is that okay? Shouldn't the Prince be the REAL villain? Shouldn't the theme be women supporting women? And why is Snow White allowed to bum off hard working disabled people and make them wait on her? That's messed up!
Gal Gadot truly cannot act… in Wonder Woman, her shit acting was hidden in her accent and her general fish out of water nature as she entered the early 20th century. She can pull off, “I don’t understand anything,” because it matches well with general lousy acting. When she’s been in the modern world for a century, yet still has that “I don’t belong here” affect, shit sticks out like a sore thumb.
Correction: not all the Disney remakes are “shot for shot” remakes. Some of them are similar but then you have Mulan which deviates from the original so much it’s almost an entirely different movie. And that was only because o she backlash with the Lion King being a shot for shot remake. So it’s a loose-loose situation.
Lion King wasn’t a shot for shot remake either. But at least they didn’t have the issue of race swaps on Lion King.
How did they get such a great performance out of Gal Godot in Wonder Woman she is an IDF veteran she used to fighting for the good guys.
Imagine this, you give Snow White a Helen of Troy role. The Queen wants her dead the Dwarvs try to keep her safe so the Queen sends her army Dwarvs have their animals and other folklore beings fighting for the rebelion, because of this food scourses are scarce and Snow is fighting herself by playing a role as a nurse for the rebellion side but also has kindness towards those who fighting for the Queen, which in turn, due to Snows kindness end up fighting for her side.
The Queen finds out about this and decides to put things in her own hands as a last resort and takes advantage of lack of food and takes on an innocent old woman role who's 'also just trying her best to help the people' gives an apple and we know how the rest would play out
Also I'd have had and Albino actress play Snow white, this would also add inclusivety and Snow is the PERFECT role for that

Let me begin my comment by telling you that all of your considerations are very interesting and well pondered, especially your critical approach to the overall movie!! Personally, I have never been a fan of Disney, not even when I was a child, but I have always admired all the original works created by Walt himself!! This just to say that it's not the Disney label, but the creativity itself that makes them stand out!! "Fantasia" is my absolute favourite, which I consider one of the truest animated masterpieces of the 20th century!! "Snow White" was a mind blowing achievement for its time and it definitely remains an undefeated prototype of what can be done with animation!! CONSEQUENTLY, most of the issues that I have with this new version are not because of the backlash/controversy/etc, but because the technical and artistic achievements of those original works are being disrespected!! The 1937 movie didn't invent fairytales: it simply showed a new way fairytales could be showed!! This new movie not only is heartless from the beginning, but it shows how you can actually regress from the meaningful results of the limited technology they had back then!! Animation in 1937 was not particularly advanced, but it had a soul and an artistic depth that still touches us today!! This new movie almost a century later is showing us how backwards we are going notwithstanding the more advanced technology at our disposition!!
