Guy from two successful TV shows is now everywhere, hes fine, but there are so many other great actors from former TV shows that are not getting nearly enough recognition, while their co-stars are in everything. Jon Hamm, nowhere, Elizabeth Moss, everywhere. I think the criteria has to be that they have to be in two major TV hits, and have to be either woke AF (Pascal) or a scientologist (Moss).
@@paulinegallagher7821 Pascal isn't just woke, he belongs to the "right" identity. Half the reason he's in so much shit is because he "codes" white aka ticks a box without causing too much backlash for lore breakage.

Ok it's a horror science fiction masterpiece (which i'm old enough to have seen in the cinema when it came out) but sadly no one ever seems to mention his 1977 beautiful film THE DUELLISTS starring Keith Carradine and Harvey Keitel set in the Napolionic era. instead of gladiator 2, they could have made something unique from the Roman era. There are hundreds of years worth of historical material to pick from. The life of Constantine, the fall of Rome by the Goths, the rise of the Byzantine Empire and the split from the Roman Empire. There is so much history that is over looked.
Who is 'they' Ridley Scott? If he did that, everyone would be like 'No Gladiator 2?' They did it because of the publicity a sequel would get, no matter how utterly pointless it is.
The budget for Gladiator 2 is reported as $310 million and it is on track to fall short of $500 mil worldwide at the box office. They're gonna end up losing like $60-100 million of this plus whatever they spent on marketing 😳
That goes for all of Hollywood, my guy. My best hope is a few very wealthy... Very based veteran a tors start putting parallel studios together and make really great indie films.. or at least something outside the grasp of Hollywood's claws. I don't even care at this point if they will all be mid to lower budget for a decade. Just want great stories again
The fact they needlessly made him Maximus's son is what made me decide I'm not going to watch this film. It retroactively damages Maximus's entire motivations from the first movie. I'm glad they put this information in the trailer so I could decide not to have anything else ruined for me.
I was debating this on instagram, Maximus had something with Lucilla and from that perhaps you could say Lucius came to be... It's not far fetched, probably he didnt know so his motivations are intact he had a wife and he had a son murdered
@@leviathan19 It's plausible and not far-fetched. But it is also gratuitous, unneccessary, and retroacively makes Maximus - the pinaccle of what it means to be a man, Father, and Husband - an absent Father to another kid.

@@saganrox6163I think his murdered son was a lot younger than lucius so I have no problem with that, it would mean max was involved with lucilla (is that her name?) and then went on to another relationship but I do dislike the whole idea, that would mean that in the first movie she could've given maximus something to fight for and at the very least not let him die without knowing the truth. This movie actually hurts the first movie, in the end of it they make it sound like rome is on the right path and then as soon as the sequel begins oh nevermind things just got worse anyway, well great. And what about Lucilla sending her kid away and keeping her important status in rome instead of running away with him? This movie is just dumb Sorry for my rant. Loved the sharks with freaking laser beams attached to their heads though
Well the Italian Coast is a lot closer to Rome than Africa, and the Nile Crocodile is a freshwater reptile. Oh jesus lol why am I injecting any logic into a movie that would do this at all, they could have put The Meg in there along with Sharknados and they would have fit right in.
@@paulinegallagher7821 Funny, but historically the Romans did bring many African animals to the colosseum for fighting, including crocodiles and hippos.
So, Lucilla is the sister of Commodus and the daughter of Marcus Aurelius, Lucius is the son of Lucilla and her first husband, Lucius Verus, who was a Roman Emperor and, Maximus, he is a general who becomes a gladiator and is portrayed as a father figure to Lucius, but he is NOT his biological father.

In my version of Gladiator. Maximus is not the father of Lucious and he never cheated on his wife. So no I will not see this movie. They could have just made another Gladiator movie that had nothing to do with the previous movie.
You mentioned the unnecessary animated remakes of older movies, but what about the unnecessary live-action remakes of older animated movies? Why the hell did they make a live-action, shot-for-shot remake of "How To Train Your Dragon"?! The original is a classic for kids (and some adults) of that era. So like with "The Lion King", "The Jungle Book", and "The Little Mermaid", they apparently felt the need to milk the IP for a little more dough. Not by making something creative that complements the original, but by recreating the original in a different format It's clear to everyone Hollywood is running out of ideas
I don't think they've run out of ideas. The ideas are still there, but they're afraid of taking risks. This is why they keep coming back to stuff that were successes when they had the balls to bring out new stuff
You forgot 'Mulan', 'Peter Pan' (kinda), 'Aladdin', 'Beauty and the Beast' and the upcoming 'Moana' and 'Lilo and Stitch'. Judge them for all they have besmirched.
Judge Doom would be so proud of what Hollywood is doing the the legacy of these animated classics. Resulting in many of these once great animation studios shutting down, and being sold to Cloverleaf Transit.
Why is everyone's face dirty in the ancient world? Did they forget how to sweat? Why would you build a city wall basically in the water? Why would you voyage across the mediteranian sea for several days and then ram the walls with your ships? You can just find a beach close by, get your army on the shore, rest and then attack, the city isn't going anywhere in the next 10 minutes. That first scene was so moronic it's insane. And then a bunch of characters with 0 depth. Watched the first 15 min and deleted, it was so bad.
Jurassic Park CGI was and is spectacular. Its used somewhat remotely though, actually. And practical effects its ALWAYS better in my opinion. It solidifies whats happening on the screen, it makes it more grounded yet at the same time more impressive. CGI get rids of all the obstacles and many of the "if buts and should we really?", it removes true old school craftmanship. Alien was literallt puppets, and its one of the most atmospheric movies ive ever seen. Aliens was also mostly puppets (if i remember it correctly). Puppets somewhat forcer these close up, short horrific shots of the alien monster.
Dude I just saw Jurassic Park in HD with my kids recently, and I was *amazed* at how well that CG has held up. Back to the Future, by contrast, was never a movie I complained or wondered about the special effects, but when you watch that in HD, you can see tears in the rotoscope overlays at some points, which I didn't expect and was really disappointed by (artifacts of the media translation process, I know, but ... man, the VCR actually looked better, there's gotta be *something* we can do to preserve that film). But I expected some sort of similar artifacts on my JP Blu-Ray and nope, it's perfect.
his supposed father lucius verus was gay, and lucilla's son was born shortly after her and maximus stopped seeing each other. this is one of the few points of the movie that is plausible. the rest is nonsense. lucilla died 2 years after marcus aurelius, the movie is 16 years after the death of marcus aurelius, yet caracalla and geta didn't rule until 30 years after marcus aurelius. numidia was conquered 300 years prior, macrinus was never in rome while emperor and he wasn't black. just a few problems.
And what exactly were you expecting out of this movie? You sound like someone who just watches anything for no reason at all. At what point in the trailer did you go oh yeah this is a must watch?
Nah, they didn't fill the Colosseum with water, not during those times. The original design could have been flooded, but by Domitian's reign the entire substructure was added and there's no way to waterproof all that; moving platforms, lifts, tunnels, trapdoors, gates. Sea battles would have been held in a Naumachia specially designed to host those. Trajan's Naumachia probably, right about where Vatican City is these days.. although I suppose Circus Flaminius would work too, it could be flooded, it'd be closer, and should still have been in operation during that time (a bit outside my are of expertise).
He really isn't though - and they even towed the line of this in the movie. Badly. Very badly. Talking about how he could be incestuous between the brother and sister. And there were rumours etc. Then next minute he's just magically accepted as definitely Maximus son. There was so much bad in this movie and that's just one glaring example.
Picked up Gladiator on 4K since it was one of the first R rated movies I saw with my Dad as a child. Figured it would be money better spent than wasting my time with the sequel.
I saw it Saturday and for 2 and a 1/2 hours I was rolling my eyes or shaking my head in disgust.

Maximus, he is a general who becomes a gladiator and is portrayed as a father figure to Lucius, but he is NOT his biological father.

Not by making something creative that complements the original, but by recreating the original in a different format
It's clear to everyone Hollywood is running out of ideas
It's clear to everyone Hollywood has run out its talent
And in the new live action Lion King, Mufasa and Scar aren't even blood related. So freaking stupid.
