    Sometimes, as an artist myself, I think the Behind the Scenes footage is more interesting and exciting than the movie itself.

    I knew a lot of work had to be put into this movie but holy crap. Respect to everyone behind the scenes because a lot of people watching movies don't appreciate the work put into these kinds of movies enough.

    Wow, such artistry! I appreciate all the work that went into making these movies because they are the best movies of life! I first watched The Lord of the Rings when I was 13 and now, 13 years later, I have watched every Hobbit movie. I have grown up with these movies and I have never watched anything better! Tolkien created such an amazing world and all of you at Weta (along with Peter Jackson and the cast and crew) brought it to life. I am forever grateful. :D Thanks, Weta!

    Amazing to see Weta Workshop at work again in help making, armor weapons and other stuff for, Lord of the Rings, as in the Hobbit. And that Shane Rangi is working with them again, for the seventh or eighth time.

    Gloin totally looked like Gimli. I was freaking out that no one realised when watching the movie!

      well yeah I think they said that gimli inherited some of his dads weapons and armor, right?

      I loved the Lord Of The Rings references in the movie, they were really well done! They perfectly bridged the hobbit movies to the lord of the rings, although I have to say I am disappointed with this being the ending. It wasn't a strong entry as the other 5 movies. Yet it was full of middle earth lore, which keeps me happy any day :)

      In the art and design book for BOTFA they said they gave him gimli's helmet to hint that it was passed down to Gimli

      Well Gloin is Gimli's father after all.

    I love the Hobbit movies! And to see this kind of work always makes me happy :) But I wonder, after seeing soo many Orc masks, how many of them were actually used in the movie? Since I saw BTS stills from Orc-stunt-doubles with green masks and mo-cap suits, I think most of them were made with CGI.

      In the DoS special features on extended edition the goblins first were in masks and costume, but they didn't allow the extras perform to their best and that the goblins didn't look like what PJ had envisioned. And then after many takes they swapped the costumes for motion capture suits.

    it's a bummer to see them making those practical effects for orcs when you know they decided after pre production to make the orcs all cgi

    • @CFDBD
      @CFDBD 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are actually a bunch of phrostetic Orcs in the movie! I actually thought it was a great mix between CGI orcs and Phrostetic Orcs... (Even if there are more CGI orcs... but those were because of the pick ups :) )

    Though the only thing i didnt like is that they used this design for Dain which looks funny with that small fat pig and too much fur on Dains back making him look small!They should have use the design shown in there Video the one i am usng as avatar thanks to them!!But I think that was the best design for Dain with Myghty WAR BOAR and STRONG RED AXE!!! :(

    what I thought was cool in the movie when I watched it, was the dwarven sword that thorin used in most of the movie was totally king thror's sword from the battle of moria in the first hobbit. If u watch bofa and the Moria battle scene, king thrors sword and thorins sword are totally the same

    • @legofreak86
      @legofreak86 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I thought that was cool, yet another deadly thing inherited from his grandfather but eventually put to honourable use. Thorin's armour was also almost identical to his grandfather's and the crown was his grandfather's former crown, when he cast it off I liked it as it was if the armour although one wears it for protection was almost his prison, I also like that he dons heavy gold armour, not just as protection from the battle but almost due to his paranoia from the possibility betrayals from his kin. It is a great metaphor for Thorin's condition. He tried so hard to differentiate himself from his grandfather but inadvertently ended up becoming just like him, right down to the clothing and weaponry he carries.

      ya I know right, its so awesome. I love how they changed thorins death scene from the book version. in the book, Bilbo speaks to thorin in a tent snd that's where thorin dies. I love how in the movie, Bilbo finds thorin layin on the ground dying near azog's body, and how Bilbo tried to stop the bleeding to keep him alive. I also loved how they played out the final confrontation between thorin and azog. think about it, in their first confrontation, thorin got the upper hand by severing azog's arm. in the second confrontation, azog got the upper hand by nearly killing thorin. in the final confrontation, their personal vendetta ended up killing them both

    • @Ty311
      @Ty311 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      they can, and they often do sell props. Sometimes, actors will get pieces; sometimes, pieces get archived; others go on display. But many are sold.
      Weta has a shop on their website - you should try contacting them: www.wetanz.com/lotr/

    Something about the prop designs of the hobbit trilogy bothers me - too divergent from the aesthetic established by LOTR, and had a comical quality to them.
