So, if I weigh the pros and cons, we have:
*cons
-the lame humor
-the forced love triangle
-the ridiculous scene with the molten gold statue
-too much Legolas
-too many action scenes, some of which belong more in a video game than in a movie
-WB didn't reinsert the deleted scene where Gandalf talks to Thranduil and asks him if his late wife would have liked to see him cherish the white gems more than his own son
-they changed the tone of the story
*pros
-the original story is still there, albeit bloated and diluted
-the cast is impeccable
-they fleshed out the characters (the Dwarves, the Elven King, Bard, the master of Lake-town...) and the story
-when Kili and Fili are killed, now I feell sad. Whereas in the book, the only thing I remember about them is that they both have blond beards, silver belts, and blue hoods
