It's someone paying extra for the service to fund these costs, and that is usually before they have stabilized and a little after before competition comes. Cheap products are cheap because the resources are just sitting there after people before you payed premium prices. Capitalism is a thing, and it works. If it was just as simple as lowering the prices, then anyone could do it and get a more successful company, they don't, they fail, proving that the current companies are more optimized than them.

Given that the onboard video for my desktop PC was nVidia's GeForce 6150SE, I share your pain. I also beg to differ on the graphics card - even an upgrade to a Diamond Multimedia HD 5450 (IIRC I paid just under $40 for it, and probably overpaid) was a substantial improvement. 😁

Tell me about it - been a Shadow user for a couple of years but now I’m just stuck in limbo regarding the games/accessories I buy for PC gaming (as there’s no way I could afford a physical replacement for Shadow and I use the whole computer, not _just_ the gaming, so the services Linus reviews are no good for me). I also use Shadow for VR gaming on my Quest for PC level VR games. Those games go down the drain if Shadow does.

The Ryzen 7 5700g is looking fairly promising. Plus, it means you can just drop a GPU in and have an 8 core/16 thread cpu that performs better than a 10700k (at least according to their benchmarks)
I have messed around with GeForce now (on a shield pro) and Stadia here in Toronto, 500 up/down fiber connection. Stadia had much better input lag, but just no good game selection. GeForce was unusable for any games that require precise inputs. If Stadia somehow supported my steam licenses it would be a killer.
Yeah, you are right. I also tried all the major cloud gaming services and stadia is technically the best one. Still hating the very very very very poor game selection. Some games look incredible on stadia, like Borderlands 3. Yes it lags, the graphics is amazing.
I use parsec on my gaming PC to stream games to my laptop. Input lag exists because physics but over LAN its inperceptible unless you were playing a game like csgo at highly competetive levels. Ive played tarkov on it and have little difficulty getting kills. But this was from my desktop over lan to laptop, i dunno if thats what youre after but parsec does stream over the internet too. The worst part is the video compression, especially if too much of the screenspace is a similar but slightly different color, it can look terrible IF your connection is weak, but when the connection is good enough its playable, but still noticible compared to on the desktop

Latency is really that bad when streaming games. The stream quality really depends on network quality, which is most likely choppy end to end at times. You can't really buffer the next 15 min like with videos. So you feel every lag spike and speedbump

I don't know if you especially tested shadow, but this company sure didn't deliver. Their service was really laggy, if you only could connect to their servers, which was impossible on Saturdays and Sundays due to network bottlenecking on their side

You could feasibly just buy the games you want to play and ignore the subscription. I use it to play Destiny 2 on my chromebook 100% for free and its actually pretty good.

Bots often have aim hacks ect. Most likely on Stadia you were playing with people who didn't really care about the game and then when you switched to standard PC you were playing against people who play it every night for 4+ years

Tell me about it - been a Shadow user for a couple of years but now I’m just stuck in limbo regarding the games/accessories I buy for PC gaming (as there’s no way I could afford a physical replacement for Shadow and I use the whole computer, not _just_ the gaming, so the services Linus reviews are no good for me). I also use Shadow for VR gaming on my Quest for PC level VR games. Those games go down the drain if Shadow does.

The Ryzen 7 5700g is looking fairly promising. Plus, it means you can just drop a GPU in and have an 8 core/16 thread cpu that performs better than a 10700k (at least according to their benchmarks)

I have messed around with GeForce now (on a shield pro) and Stadia here in Toronto, 500 up/down fiber connection. Stadia had much better input lag, but just no good game selection. GeForce was unusable for any games that require precise inputs. If Stadia somehow supported my steam licenses it would be a killer.
Yeah, you are right. I also tried all the major cloud gaming services and stadia is technically the best one. Still hating the very very very very poor game selection.
Some games look incredible on stadia, like Borderlands 3. Yes it lags, the graphics is amazing.

I use parsec on my gaming PC to stream games to my laptop. Input lag exists because physics but over LAN its inperceptible unless you were playing a game like csgo at highly competetive levels. Ive played tarkov on it and have little difficulty getting kills. But this was from my desktop over lan to laptop, i dunno if thats what youre after but parsec does stream over the internet too. The worst part is the video compression, especially if too much of the screenspace is a similar but slightly different color, it can look terrible IF your connection is weak, but when the connection is good enough its playable, but still noticible compared to on the desktop
To be fair, the Stadia catalog is getting better. It could become quite competitive within the next year or so.
The fact that any game devs think they have a right to charge cloud gaming services to host their games is ridiculous.
Game streaming is DoA, purely because capitalist ghouls are trying to take a cut out of a pie that isn't even finished baking.

It's the latency. Using a cloud service for gaming is not usable for any somewhat comp game.
Latency is really that bad when streaming games. The stream quality really depends on network quality, which is most likely choppy end to end at times. You can't really buffer the next 15 min like with videos. So you feel every lag spike and speedbump

I dunno if it was different when this video released, but you dont actually need to pay for a subscription to access Stadia. It just gives you some free games and discounts on other games iirc. In Thailand and Malaysia, it's the retailers who are hoarding the supplies and selling 2x to 2.5x MSRP. I talked to the distributor who is offering GPUs at around 1.2 to 1.5x the original MSRP, but their authorized retailers are compounding their margin by 2x on the distributor price. So a $700 card comes about $1200 to $1400 from distributor and the retailers are charging around $1800 to $2400.
I don't notice any lag playing Assassin's Creed in Stadia via the PC, but I do using the 4k chromecast even if it's hard wired. Ended up playing 120 hours on Stadia and enjoyed it. Good controller too

PUBG on Stadia is 60-80% bots, or at least was when I used it. I was really good until I switched to the standard PC version, then holy sh-t did I get railroaded lol.
Bots often have aim hacks ect. Most likely on Stadia you were playing with people who didn't really care about the game and then when you switched to standard PC you were playing against people who play it every night for 4+ years
@@jacobgame2757 no, it was verifiable through PUBG player stats. The bot count is shown in match details. This was ~1-2 years ago. And the bots were utterly terrible.
@@alles_klar I used to play pubg mobile but then when I started PC lite(yes lite I play on an i3 4rth gen laptop so...... :/) The difficulty of the bots was much higher, like seriously if you don't kill it fast you're ded meat, and PUBG PC js supposed to be even more difficult in recoil control and stuff than PC lite, so I can understand what this guy is tryna say
